In this video it was pointed out that I was supposed to install the ball joint on the lower part of the uca due to my lifted application. I will be fixing this before it goes to the alignment shop 👍 thanks guys
Their instructions state:
Mount upper ball joints to bottom of control if you are adjusted above stock height.
Mount ball joint down through top of control arm if your truck is stock height, or you have a 4" and up lift kit keeping torsion keys relaxed and control arms flat.🤷🏼♂️
@@MrSrtman18 Yes, it mounts either way...the instructions are vague at best.
kEEP SHOWING INSTALLS LIKE THESE!! Love it. You're so right how other youtubers just speed up video and add sound or just show before and after and not exactly how to install it or issues you'd come across while doing installs. I appreciate you all
Thanks
@@TruckMaster question. I’m getting a 2022 2500 at4. What do you recommend I upgrade in the front end? I’ll be doing a lot of driving and also towing
Josh I truly appreciate all your vids very helpful you will go far just stay humble before The Lord
Yes those drop brackets are def part of the lift kit. They either have to drop the upper control arms or offer taller spindles
Dirt King Fab. makes alignment cams that CAN NOT move out of alignment. I also recommend ditching the stock alignment pins (which can fall out on their own anyway) and use 12mm bolts with nylocks...for stock cams or aftermarket cams. The kit is under $70 bucks per truck. If you are going to install upper control arms, this kit will save you alignment issues down the road...or trail.
@ Truck Master I believe the ball-joints are on the wrong side of the control arm for a lifted application. I believe they should be mounted to the bottom of the control arm. (If you are adding this a-arm kit to a factory height truck just to take advantage of the bolt in ball joint feature and do not plan to level it out, you must drop the ball joint down through the ball joint pocket so that the ball joint flange is on top. Mount the ball joint on the bottom of the arm for leveled or lifted trucks. Tighten all hardware in this step to 22 ft-lbs. of torque.)
Your right I missed that step thanks 🙏 looks like I’m fixing that now 😂 luckily I didn’t get a alignment yet
The instructions are confusing....
Mount upper ball joints to bottom of control if you are adjusted above stock height. ( Meaning cranked keys? )
Mount ball joint down through top of control arm if your truck is stock height, or you have a 4" and up lift kit keeping torsion keys relaxed and control arms flat. Which is it...you obviously aren't stock height with a 4" and up lift.
Another successful addition of the supermodel technician.
I can't tell you how much I love your videos! My 05 duramax is basically a copy cat of yours and rustbelt!... I am continuesly adding the same products you both have!...keep up the vids buddy!...
Thanks I appreciate it
@@TruckMaster I know that Michigan is far from me but I hope to see you both come to colorado some time! We have some killer car and truck shows out here along with nhrda ( national hotrod diesel association) at bandimere speedway. The highest elevated dragstrip in the country!
It’s awesome to see your wife helping you out in the shop 👍👍 mr. and mrs. truck master great video
Thanks
Since your building a built proof duramax I would suggest getting lift spindles and getting rid of the upper control arm drop brackets
otto oquist what is lift spindles ?
Several different companies are using lift spindles by doing so it keeps the factory geometry the same on the upper control arms
The lower control arm is relocated using a new cross member that ties everything into the factory frame mounts
Lift spinals are a much stronger way to go !
Knuckle lift....
Have you ever actually seen anyone do the swap from the drop brackets to lift spindle ? I’m looking to see if it would be a simple R&R
Thanks for the continual content TM and family
Thanks 🙏
I reached out to Kryptonite and currently they do not make upper control arms for my 2000 1500 Silverado.. 😭 but they did say they are in the process in R&D to have some by Summer 2021... 😁
Your are very kind and.patient with your pretty helper. Good job.
Adapt and overcome. Nicely done!
Love these how to videos! Always good seeing a fellow Michigander on videos as well!
My LBZ breaks Kryptonite product once a year. 2 years went through 4 balljoints, 2 pitman arms, and 1 inner tierod. I do alot of heavy towing and heavy offroad recovery
clean the frame and use any kind of lube before trying to drive in the control arm, all A arms are tight if they are good. When your wife is a mechanic she is a keeper. AWESOME VIDEO
I bought an 05’ brand new Victory Red and still have it. I lifted it with FabTec 3 days after I bought it. I just had a show paint job and almost changed the color. I’m glad I didn’t. After over 14yrs my Duramax can’t be anything other then
Big Red!!! Runs like a top as well it should with 53k miles. Can you tell I baby my truck?
Yes I can definitely tell but sounds like a clean rig
I’ve been meaning to tell you what big deal it was for you to what you thought was a “down grade” from the newer Duramax to this bad boy! For you to make sure your daughter could love the Lord just as you do is big time!!! As young as you are most kids won’t make the sacrifice. I say kids cuz I’m 45 with a daughter about your age. Keep doing what you’re doing and take care of your family! Especially your wife. I’ve been married over 27yrs and a happy wife means a happy life! I would be proud if I were your dad. God Bless. Obviously HE has and I pray HE will!
Supermodel technician is back.
I will be installing these. I put the AC Delco uppers on 3 weeks ago and the cheap ball joint boot is leaking. Thanks for all your videos. They are really helpful.
What kinda of brush bar is that. ? Beautiful
A woman who wants too learn this trade is a rare type of breed
She didn't look like she was happy about helping but key thing is SHE did!.....good for you guys, have to imagine you will be repaying that debt and it is all about compromise
How did the alignment go?. I just did the install and have the same cam bolt kit as you. The shop can’t seem to align it without a constant right pull.
hey those might work for wifemax to upgrade her truck just change out the ball joints :) i usually drill those areas and tap them for a grease zerk that way i can atleast help that area with grease :) i was going back and binge watching some older vids haha :)
Safer way to do it so that upper control arm won’t hurt you is to get a key way tool for the torsion bar and take the torsion bars all the way out so that’s definitely a safer way to do it, thank you for the vid it was a very great video 🔥
Don’t quote me but when you’re anything other than stock height, you should bolt the ball joints on the bottom of the arms to take the angle out of it.
Your right I may have to fix that now
Truck Master just looking out for ya! I have the whole setup on my truck, grease it every 3k and it’ll treat you well!
Thanks for catching that
Those are stock height ucas? Or 6 inch lift ucas?
Great video awesome job guys 👍🇺🇸😎
Thanks
You didn't torque the upper control arm bolts with it hanging, right?
That’s correct
Hey josh. Im up here in Mason delivering product.
Yall keep it cold up here, beautiful country here tho.
When doing the upper control arms do I need to brace the lowers and how. I see you have jacks under diff drop bracket. I watched other vids where I don’t see anything underneath and some show jack stands or jacks to support. What is the safest way to do this
Im trying to figure out if they support lifts more than 2 inches
Torsion bar better for chevy 2500hd then to delete torsion bar and replace with coil overs
Very nice upgrade! Would be even better if powder coated red!!! But still very nice!
Good point
Hell brother nothing aftermarket is a 100% like a glove perfect fit! Those Upper control arms look bad ass! I’m definitely gonna be looking into those! And I noticed you have drop brackets for your control arms, did you do a drop bracket for the torsion bars also or just the arms for the lift?
You should have a jack under that lower control arm.If that shock came apart it could be dangerous.A lot of tension on that torsion bar.
So on those alignment cams, why couldn't you use them? Is it just because your vehicle is newer? I have them on my 2001 silverado 2500hd. But been debating buying the krypronite ucas to go with them.
Hey bud, quick question, which lift kit did you put on this truck? Thanks buddy.
The ball joint should be on top because on the bottom it would let the uca seperate from the ball joint on top it its a safety feature
The camber bolts that came in the kit won’t fit because they are the stock style designed for the stock mounting position. You have upper control arm drop brackets though that are a bit different in design. Great video though I love Kryptonite products they make some really awesome and beefy stuff!
I have a 2008 Duramax and I recently replaced the upper control arms and had an alignment but she’s back to having play .
If I buy the kryptonite control arms then should I also buy there brackets?
Stupid question, did you grease the bushings on the uca after install? Or are you not supposed to do that until later?
i also have a procomp lift on my duramax and just purchased same set of control arms. Did you stick with the ball joint mounted top or bottom?
What a great team.
Love to see a tilt frontend installation on these 2500 trucks if they even make o e for these trucks
The Krytonite is user friendly. I can appreciate that I go through a lot of ball joints and wheel bearings. Would these be applicable for a plow truck? Yes it’s a duramax plow truck. Love the video. Keep it up
Kryptonite. Damn
Yes it will definitely work for your application
Ordered the kryptonite upper A arms. Your saying the new castor/camber bolts want work with my LLY? I paid extra for them. I will be very disappointed if they don't work
did the bolts work?
@@havencooper9389 hell no. Gotta reqroup and figure out what I am gonna do
Nice work guys those are going to work great!!!!
Your lovely bride don’t need any make up she is lovely with out it.
Very true 👍
I got a question id like to hear what you think. I have a 12" lift by FTS and I cannot get ahold of them for the life of me, I need upper control arms just wondering if you think this will work with it.
Mine came with the shock extension brackets how do I know which way they go on?
Yeah buddy they actually fit perfectly on stock units you have some funky ass drop brackets for your upper control arms that make it not fit correctly. And those bushings will not last forever and forever in fact they'll have a significantly shorter life than your original ones
Separate question, I recently noticed the front bump stops on my truck were dry rotted and gone so I replaced them. I was surprised to see that the bump stops are in constant contact and wondered if they are are your truck as well or if something is funky with my ride height since the truck has a 6" lift kit?
I have a 09 stage 3 level kit, I want to replace the lower A arms. Do you have any recommendations?
Awesome video. Quick unrelated question. How different is the egr delete between the lbz and lmm? I've watched your video on the lbz
Not much at all other than the u-shaped coolant bypass tube in a Egr delete kit
@@TruckMaster so pretty much just the coolant bypass? The rest is the same. For the most part?
Does your bump stops that was installed sit on the stoop, mine does and not sure if it is right
How much for your old upper control arms?
Dude, you are a lucky man with a way cool wife! Good job, good marketing!
Youre suppose to put the ball joint on the bottom not the top. You put the ball joint on top for stock application.
How are these holding up a year later? I’m going to have to do a complete front end rebuild on my LLY and thinking about going kryptonite. Would you say there far better than say moog or equivalent?
They are way better than moog but overall they are doing well
Is your outer CV axle boot torn?
Zone arms or Krptonite arms.... ? Both arms have the correct ball joint angle fixed?
Nice job 👍 good wife. Most(89%) would never even think about helping a guy do this.. butttt, most guys also prolly rather do the job themselfs instead of dealing with the wife haha
Great work mrs not the easiest job you did well
👍
Just in case anyone else is looking the KR6696 factory style press in upper ball joint is orientated with the index mark to the OUTSIDE like the Mevotech TTX. Apparently Kryptonite can't get that basic info included with their products as far as I can tell I got NO instructions and they have nothing on their website. After emailing them they sent me instructions they blame on new employees omitting a print out from the packages.
Question I installed them on my 2008 lmm dually. For some reason when I turn all the way my steering wheel locks won’t return back.looks like the toe comes in bad did wheel alignment. checks out good casters also good ?
Are those lowering brackets on the frame where the upper a arm connects
What do you think about cognito upper control arms??
who makes your upper control arm drop brackets? Thanks man!\
How did you get those bolts on from 2006 Dodge control ams thank you 🇺🇸😎
Just ask a auto parts store
If you would have loosened the bolts in the drop brackets this would have been a lot easier for you to remove and install. Also if you mark the position of the offset washers, the alignment would be a lot closer.
I see that the UCA sits lower than the normal holes. What’s that for
Hey bud get those drop control arm brackets off they make it hard to align and mine broke caused me to get in bad accident.PLEASE REMOVE FOR SAFETY GET LIFT SPINDLES
Did you replace yours after or was your truck totaled actually been looking to replace mine w lift spindles but pro comp is unsure if it’ll work
I was thinking about buying Zone.... until this video.
Same here!
Awesome video more like this man ! Instilled videos !
Thanks
Have u changed yr pitman arm & idler arm yet ? Which brand u recommend? Thanks
KRYPTONITE life time warranty or mood hevy duty on a budget a little better then stock. change theIdler support bracket too.
Good job assistant
Hello! I know this is an older video, but do I need to grease my Kryptonite control arms? It says they come pre-greased, just want to ask before I mess up!
Yes. Frequently
So can you get those style of ball joints anywhere else? Kryptonite doesn’t sound like the name of a company that will be in business in 10-15 years so where would you get balljoints?
austinr09 companies make bolt in options. I don’t think autozone does but kryptonite has been around for a bit and has one the best warranties in the industry. They offer lifetime warranty. Buy it once and never have to worry about it.
Why are thes an upgrade from the zone arms?
65k👍 always great content man keep up the good work. I need to get me a woman like that. Can't wait to see what you're going to do in the winter. Cold starts 🥶
Thanks and I’m definitely not ready for this winter 😂
Ughhhh don’t say the W word, lol...
What are u going to do about the sway bar end links ?
Yes definitely
thank you truck master
Did you have to loosen the torsion bars?
No
How long do you think the boots for ball joints will last?
No sure but I hope a long time
I have a 05 lly with kryptonite a arms and everything else....
1 year old and starting to crack...
I'm in cal.so that's like no harsh road salt either
Where did you find the 10m socket 🤷♂️🇺🇸
I stole it from Matt 😂
😂😂😂 oh that’s right. He bought a case of em!!
Truck master atlas spring is a great build springs overloads lift kits any size truck there in house built and ma manufacture also install a d alignment shop atlas spring Wichita Kansas got to for me
You have those key tags in blue?
No I’m sorry
Hey truck master what lift kit do you have?
Pro comp 6”
Hey truck master what’s the biggest lift kit you can do for a 5th wheel
Not to sure great question though my buddy has 35’s with a life and I believe he had his 5th wheel custom to pull it
Truck Master what size is his lift kit?
Bro , did you change because you wanted the upgrade, I remember how highly you spoke of the zone originally. what happened?
Zone is still good but these are more upgraded
👍👍
You got a deal when you married her!!
Whoever is doing your alignment is going to have a hard time with the camber without the guide pins
Your weak link will be your lift kit with everything else built on your truck. I'm sure you could convince one of the higher end lift companies to help you out with the price on a stronger, better manufactured kit! 🤘
Cognito or FTS
looks like you are doing the cooking to night
They make those things for dodge 5500's
Unfortunately they do not I’m sorry
Truck Master that's communist
I need truck life for my 06silverado 1500!! Great content josh an melanie..
Thanks 🙏
Agreed 👍
Why are you running those garbage control arm drop brackets? Get lift spindles and get rid of the drop brackets.
Would the swap be a simple R&R without anything else?
If you watch this video you made with RBM you'll notice he mounted the ball joint on the bottom, video @ the 2:51 mark ua-cam.com/video/C7jJNsMybjw/v-deo.html .
Your right I wish I could add that in the video but I am correcting that this weekend
👌👍🏻
got any key tags for canadians, lol
