With the whole “How do they not destroy the planet thing” apart from ki control and suppression, I always like to think that they also focus their power on the person they’re fighting, so that there’s less of an effect on the environment and more on the actual person. That’s sorta also explains how they can tank attacks that can possibly destroy planets and have their surroundings be perfectly fine for the most part

The God tier characters like Jiren Goku Vegeta Toppo Hit Frieza Dyspo and Kefla even tho she only faught Goku are the ones that had to suppress their max powers till the very end since they can easily kill the other 72 fighters.
Not only That but goku and vegeta want a good fight. They will gladly suppress themselves to zero to get a good fight out of it, even if they can 1 shot everybody. They don't want to be saitama and get bored cause they are too strong, in the end they care about the fight.

He continuously fights STRONGER opponents and weaklings to either increase his strength OR conserve power
Vegeta definitely would. He's the reason why perfect cell happened. He overpowered cells 2nd form and could have easily wiped him out, but nope. He wanted a challenge and insisted he absorbed the androids to get more powerful.

IMO it had like 3 or 4 really bad episodes, everything else was amazing. Just cool fights, thats what I came to see. I love complex plots and I think anime can be a powerful medium like any other artform. But that's not what I'm looking for when I watch Dragon Ball.

The thing that doesn't make sense to me in Super episode 100 when Kale walks through SSB Goku's Kamehameha wave is that why did Goku not put out more power when he saw that happening. You'd think he'd have done that knowing that it would probably not kill her
At that point outputting that much energy in that move would be useless to what Goku wants. He wants a fight not a victory, well during that part to an extent but you know

If you train in martial arts, and you spar, you understand suppression. Because sparring is controlled and calculated -- or it's teaching you to control and calculate -- in a real fight, you're hopefully going apeshit on the guy, and your muscles are remembering your form and technique for you, of course with some conscious input here and there, but you're sure as hell not focusing on "applying the basics" or trying out that one technique you've always had trouble with. Though, ideally, you spar so frequently that your controlled and calculated mode becomes your default mode, and can draw the necessary power in a real fight for maximum control.

Ares Its not that Blue is super draining in the anime, its just that going at a higher level a power for an extended period of time against a lot of fighters would be tiring indeed.
People really hate the scene where Tien distracted Cell??? That was one of the most tear jerking scenes in the Cell Saga! He put his life on the line

Reason to hold back :
1) Easier to sustain , keep in mind the higher you raise your power , the more power leaks out which results in an aura which is actually bad because you lose power unneccessarily .
So to sum it up ... having an aura is actually bad.
It has been stated in the databook that you cant benefit from higher power if you lack ki control.
2) more control --- 》 " I have to try very hard *not* to crush you (as a sideeffect ) " --- Aizen
Goku have to surpress himself hard not to kill persobs on accident like the robber. In fact he surpressed hinself to dragonball level
3 ) to limit the area of effect
By effectively controlling the attack area you can maximise the attack potency because you condense it into a smaller area.
To depict this matter more clearly its like having too flames. One bigger and one smaller and hotter. Of course the big flame does more damage in total but the smaller flame would vaporize everything while the bigger one would leave traces behind.
4 ) goku usual calm base power Ranges between 5000 and 23k if he doesnt battle . It like his natural level. This base power is locked. So raising and surpression his power beyond or below that comes with effort and skill. Thats why many body thieves have problems when they take over gokus Body. They cant unlock it because its locked.
His base power may have risen but unknown to which degree.
With ssjb he doesnt have to depower to base form because he surpress his powers much easier .
5) ki control : ki is normally distributed equally over the body. They can focus it into one area increasing the ki level in that specific area while decreasing it in other areas.
Thats exactly why cell lost to gohan. By performing a solarsystem busting kamehameha he had to lower his defences to the point he could be tickled by vegetas blast

Suppression, i can’t think of a better way to describe Hit’s character. The dude can literally never use his assassination techniques because of a no-killing rule. The only time we get to see Hit at full power is in a filler. They nerfed him so much. Jiren made him his bitch.

The way I think about DBZ power levels is that they’re basically rolling with the times. As time goes on they become more and more powerful so the only thing that matters as far as scaling is relative power levels. Like Krillin will always be fodder compared to Goku even if he can destroy a planet

Oscar Flores seth makes a bunch of bullshit videos and wanks the hell out of goku every chance he gets and downplays every other character. The fact that he even made a video of ssb goku vs superman prime is completely ridiculous, he also tried to say that alien X (Ben 10) couldn't beat goku and Superman which just goes to show his utter lack of knowledge when it comes to anything outside of dragon Ball.
Alien X in fact cannot beat XV2 Goku nor Composite DBH Goku. Those two versions of Goku are the strongest versions of Goku.

You realize that Super Powers is just a short form of Supernatural Powers, which means powers that are not bound by physics.
There is no sense to trying to apply real world physics and logic to a fictional world.
We aren't. We are applying the fictional verses physics to itself. Any Fictional universe has to establish what is and isn't to be expected or theoretically possible within it. Just because its fiction doesnt mean it doesn't have rules. It just means it has its own rules, and those rules can be broken even if it is its own.

We are not saying that Krillen and Yamcha were weak, no both are indeed strong and can destroy planets and small stars; they are just a meme because compared to the other Z fighers both krillen and Yamcha are insignificant.

as we've seen 18 is much stronger than kirllen and the only reason to why Tein didn't get memed is because hes not that prominent, and when he is shown he is quite significant. As most of the times we seen Yamcha and krillen despite their power they always just get completely blown away or die.

-Freiza Saga- Just a repeat of him getting beat by raccoon and Freiza and dying again
-Cell saga- completely messed up the plan of destroying 18 in which made cell perfect, and than to try to fight cell and do nothing and cell ignored him (at least Tien held cell down)
-Buu saga- Turned to stone by Dabura, to later be getting 1 shot by Buu and eaten afterwards.
That's not hardly when its in every ark hes debuted in, same could be said for Yamcha.

One thing I don't understand is why there's no killing in the ToP when, if a universe loses they get erased (which is FAR worse than dying). If you lose, you're wiped from existence. So why do they care if anyone dies...? Makes NO sense to me

More accurately: he *can* suppress Super Saiyan, and virtually nobody is denying that he can. But in SS Blue he can suppress his power *far* better than he can in SS, to the point that it is actually very probable for him to be using *less* power in SSB in certain situations than he would in Goldilocks Form.
And, also, that this is an entirely viable reason for him to use SS Blue -- that is, that he's just as likely to use SSB to make his attacks *less* powerful than (say) they'd be if he were a Super Saiyan as he would to use it to make them *more* powerful.

Kinda disappointed how you more or less avoided talking about Super....Kale wasn't suppressed, Caulifla wasn't, Kalifla DEFINITELY was not suppressed, Toppo wasn't I mean he was trying to Hakai Freiza, 17, & Vegeta. Etc. The ONLY time Goku legit held back was against Caulifla & Kale. EVERY. SINGLE. STRONG opponent Goku & Vegeta fought they struggled against.

HeavyDonkeyKong SSJ2 was more than enough to be evenly matched with Gohan. He had to beg Goku 4 times for him to stop holding back and use Blue.
Future Trunks 1) Cabba isn't strong compared to Vegeta, only his base was more or less on par with Vegeta.
2) Not using Kaioken isn't holding back or Suppressed. Kaioken is an unnatural forced power multiplier technique, it's not power the user can naturally use at the time.
3) Toppo had JUST obtained G. o. D. Status & thus had no way of knowing if Freiza, etc. would survive a Hakai.

honestly its just bad writing. There's no reason why you should use a tiny percent of your power if you're being pumbled into the ground while using that much power. Better to burst out a short powerful move to end the fight entirely before wasting too much time and stamina
Because goku and them want a good battle. Look at one punch man, saitama is bored cause he is too strong. Dbz characters have the benefit of controlling their power and suppressing it so they won't blow up the planet accidentally. Goku cares about fighting and he will gladly suppress himself to zero to experience it. He will be bored if he just one shots them.

another truthful statement. Honestly I love dragon ball and I still watch the show but its mostly for nostalgia purposes. The writing was never stellar in the db franchise but super just took a new low with its ridiculous amount of retcons, plot armor and shallowness of characters. So he completely lowers his power level so he can have a challenge.... doesn't make to me. It's not a real challenge if he's using like 1% of his power or some shit. Thats just stooping to the enemy's level, which he didnt do in dbz unless the enemy was surpressed as well.
