Hello guys! Henry, you deserve as well as Ian the French FRF2 sniper badge. A few point on the MP5 with the Gendarmerie intervention (response) units: the first model of MP5 with the (pre 2007) GIGN was the SD, while the primary assault/CQB weapon was the MR 73 revolver; the K model was used first by the EPIGN (a unit that was included in the post 2007 GIGN as both Observation & Search and Security & Protection forces ) for close protection duties; then the A 3 became widely used for CQB. The PI2G were regional response units that became part of the "new" GIGN in 2021, but are not as the same level as the Force Intervention, a bit like if the regional FBI SWAT units (full time) were part of the HRT. Some MP 5 were bought for the Gendarmerie mobile branch with the special budget for the winter Olympics in 1992. Then it became a patrol weapon, especially popular for training with smaller gendarmes, to be followed by the HK UMP 9 and recently the G36 K for the PSIG "Sabre" fast response county units.
Hey Henry, have you thought about stretching the MP5's legs on the service rifle course? I'm sure it would probably max out before you'd get to 500, but it would be interesting to see just how far you could go with it. If you do ever try it, I think the solid stock with irons would be the coolest way. You could also try some of the older military SMG's on the service rifle course. Seeing as how they were issued among rifle squads, it would be a fitting test. Things like the MP-40's, Thompsons, M3's, maybe a Suomi or PPSH if you could swing it. There're plenty others, but those would probably be some of the easiest ones. No weird calibers like the French ones. I mean, those would be neat, but good luck finding reliable examples, and ammunition.
As am I… testing the Suomi (a la Winter War ski troops) or PPSh-41 (entire Soviet divisions armed primarily with it) or MP40 (Late war Wehrmacht troops having to take single shots, conserving ammo, in defensive roles) at longer ranges would give better historical context for the capability of these weapons. Maybe test not just well aimed shots but how quickly each can score multiple hits at 50-75m

The MP5 platform is still the king of cool. I love my AP5, but I haven't looked enough into getting any upgrades for it, because I currently just enjoy it as a blaster. It's definitely a favorite candidate for a proper form 1.
A couple of things I've gathered from my research for a game I've been developing for some time; specifically on the MP5-N (KAC) and Laser Products. Circa 1986, HK fulfilled the request for the Navy SEAL's upgrade requirements; Ambi selector and threaded barrel. Note that in the '80s there were no suppressors designed for the 3-lug as of yet. This suffices the threaded barrel in conjunction of KAC, which I'm sure was co-developed on behalf of HK. This also was likely co-developed with the HK P9S (context of the rarity of mainstream suppressed (.45acp/9mm) service pistols (not to be confused w/ integral .22lr pistols) For Laser Products, brings us a year earlier. In 1985, they've released under barrel weapon light products for the 1911, 92FS, 870, and of course the MP5. They would also later develop weapon lights for the p226 and Benelli M1 (LAPD request) by the late '80s. LAPD Metro SWAT (D-Platoon) was one of the earliest adopters. D-Platoon has been trained alongside Delta, HRT, SAS, GSG9, and GIGN, especially in preparation for the 1984 Olympics. Scotty Reitz (Uncle Scotty), writer of SWAT magazine and ex-LAPD SWAT, had put a special emphasis on 'clean mechanics'. Nutshell; natural 2nd nature usage of manual of arms, gear, and shooting techniques. This is later developed in mind of the LAPD's famous iconic 3a HRM Tactical Vest. Note the snap/Velcro modularity. Prior to this, SWAT had to sewn in pouches in Vietnam era pilot survival vest for their MP5s. In regards to the suppressor and weapon combo, there is a problem. Physically the light is in the way of the suppressor, so Laser Products to develop an attachment for the weapon to be redirected to a lower position if needed. What's interesting on laser Products weapon lights seen in late the '80s and early 90s films. Cliff Hanger, Arizona Heat (870), Last of the Finest, and American Yakuza 2.
The official factory modernization package of the MP5 MLI is a notable footnote for the 2010's chapter of the gun. Not sure how much traction its gotten on the market, but it exists and has its spot in the catalogue.
Literally the only thing I would change about the HK roller-delay family is replacable rear grips like on the AK or AR. There's something to be said when you find that perfect grip.
Comparing the size of a modern red dot sight to a 35mm film canister made me chuckle. My guess is there are more people today who have seen a T-2 or Holosun than a 35mm film canister. Being old, I actually have a couple, though I haven't taken a picture with a film camera in decades. Love the MP-5!
I just picked up an MKE for sub $1k, and needed some guidance as to where to go in regards to turning it into something more practical than its pistol configuration. Great video
20:39 Norwegian police, not swedish. I have some ammo in different NATO packaging, some say "pistol ammunition" and some "not suitable for pistol" . Old ammo from the 60`s and 70`s. I guess they made very hot loads for the smg`s and standard loads for pistols. In some ammo I see that they are more tipped than standard off the shelf training ammo. I love your videos. Keep them coming :)
I really need some help here deciding between the SP5 and Sp5k-PDW. I have the money to buy both of them if I wanted to, but I don't feel like that's smart or responsible when I still need to spend another $1300 on another CAT suppressor (MOB or Alleycat36k, but I just bought the AC556 Ti) for the Sp5/K-PDW + kit it out properly. The SP5 full size seems like the better gun overall, seems like it'll shoot better, suppress better, run better over time, be comfier, better ergos, more space. But the K-PDW is just soooo small, I love how small it is man, it's amazing that it's so good yet so tight. But, on paper, the SP5 is only like 4" longer... and the barrel is only like 3.03" longer. *_Is the K-PDW really that much more compact and small and tiny and convenient?_* I've been trying to decide between SP5 and SP5k-PDW for a few months now and keep going in circles because I haven't been able to compare them IRL at all. Definitely not goin to be able to find a range that has both of them in stock right now (at least, unless I get really lucky very soon). But yeh, have not been able to find a place that has both in stock at the same time, and I haven't even been able to see the K-pdw IRL at all. So I just have to visualize the difference in photoshop 😢. My gut and heart tells me go full size, but my brain tells me that the K-PDW is a unique proposition overall in the market today, and a great number of MP5 stans lately have been saying that the current accessories and technology to equip on on the K-PDW have really brought it to the next level and makes it incredible in 2024. There's nothing else quite like it currently that is 'just so damn small haha. I already have big rifles and a bunch of handguns and such. And yeh I could make a tiny .300BLK, but this is still even smaller than that, and also 9mm ammo way cheaper haha and I can make 9mm ammo much faster and cheaper. *_Have any advice for me? What do you think about it and/or both of them? Is the K-PDW as fun and great as everyone says? Do you think the smaller size takes any hits in performance or usability vs. the larger one? If I'm planning on running suppressed (with a CAT MOB or CAT Alleycat 36), will my choice on which gun to pick make a big difference in terms of overall joy of running it with a supressor? Any info or advice you have for me in this decision would be helpful because I dunno if I"m ever gonna get to compare them IRL if I don't just buy them myself lol_* _Side notes:_ Right now, I have a 16" Ar15 built to be able to shoot out to 600yds, maybe further, but it's not a precision rifle. The gun is very light, but it's obviously pretty long + it has an Alleycat556Ti silencer on it. I've got many handguns, and a .22LR Savage for teaching kids and for plinking, but no other 'long' guns. My dream gun since I was a kid was the MP5 (and the USP/USP Compact, but I achieved that dream last year when I finally decided to buy my own weapons instead of using the Glock 19 and 17 my father gifted to me

One of the best presentations you guys have made to date. Always impressive!
Will the MPX, UMP9 & Vityaz PP-19 replace the MP5 in future? I think Henry you need to make a video to compared the MP5A3 to these three SMG.
I noticed some of the mags you guys were using had blue tape on them. It's strange that you'd waste time firing blanks.
This is the best video on the MP5 that is online
👍👍Keep the MP5 content coming please.
Excellent video, really enjoyed this
Great general doc. on the Mp5 adoption, use and improvement. Also banger music by the way, do you know Henry where I can find it?
Phenomenal video, love it man!
Thanks from Germany for a great video 😊
I remember getting that first Surefire. Mind blowing compared to a 4 D-cell mag lite.
I would like to see a verses of the Sig MPX / MP5. It would make for a sweet video!
I just picked up an MKE for sub $1k, and needed some guidance as to where to go in regards to turning it into something more practical than its pistol configuration. Great video
8:48 what magazine base is in that 1911? Is it a double stack (caspian or para ordnance?) or is the hogue grip just making it look thick?
20:39 Norwegian police, not swedish. I have some ammo in different NATO packaging, some say "pistol ammunition" and some "not suitable for pistol" . Old ammo from the 60`s and 70`s. I guess they made very hot loads for the smg`s and standard loads for pistols. In some ammo I see that they are more tipped than standard off the shelf training ammo. I love your videos. Keep them coming :)
Man I love your history related commentary. Shit is fascinating.
Brilliant video Henry, just brilliant!
This is incredibly well done and a treat from start to finish
Think I still have Frank James notes on Project 64? He was county north of me. Lemme dig.
Great video, no mp5sd with the integral silencer could have been in there somewhere.
It was intentionally left out for future content :)
@@9HoleReviews I loved the video, it makes me want to clone that silenced sniper version for air soft, with the hose clamp mag light underneath.
I know this is about the MP5, (Ding sends his regards) but I want to know what that thing is @ 11:14! So cool looking!
I love the video! You missed one of my favorite appearances of the MP5... Stargate SG1! I want a SG1 clone MP5 super bad. Keep up the great work.
Without the anti-bounce lever, the MP5 is the best G3 derivative in my mind.
Amazing job guys! Thanks!
*_Is the K-PDW really that much more compact and small and tiny and convenient?_*
I've been trying to decide between SP5 and SP5k-PDW for a few months now and keep going in circles because I haven't been able to compare them IRL at all.
Any info or advice you have for me in this decision would be helpful because I dunno if I"m ever gonna get to compare them IRL if I don't just buy them myself lol_*
_Side notes:_ Right now, I have a 16" Ar15 built to be able to shoot out to 600yds, maybe further, but it's not a precision rifle. The gun is very light, but it's obviously pretty long + it has an Alleycat556Ti silencer on it. I've got many handguns, and a .22LR Savage for teaching kids and for plinking, but no other 'long' guns. My dream gun since I was a kid was the MP5 (and the USP/USP Compact, but I achieved that dream last year when I finally decided to buy my own weapons instead of using the Glock 19 and 17 my father gifted to me
Stellar presentation 👑Henry, gonna need that sexy BGM @16:00
absolutely amazing, thanks for the god damn great video my friend
Loved the methodical narration. Great video with lots of good information and plenty of seeeeexy rifles
Not saying other options replaces the MP5, but the 9mm AK and AR options are great platforms too. Would like to see a comparison.
11:20 what optic is that???
It’s taken me 35 minutes to get 11 minutes into the video because I keep seeing cool little details or thinks I don’t recognize.
This is such a well put together video on this platform.
The hot button at the 5 o'clock is genius
Thanks for the video, I was trying to get too creative with my pressure switch mount and the 5oclock seems to work
Such a quality and awesome video! Great job!
Does the muzzle blast of the trilug-less mp5k burn your fingers?
Excellent production
Love the mp5 content! Love to see a comparison of the mp5 vs modern PDW's like the p90 and MP7
