I'm glad I came across your video, a real good comparison. I just put the Tusks on my 300L Rally. I agree with you that the Tusks are really what a 50/50 tire should be. I do adventure riding highway to the dirt roads in Oregon. My buddy and I have the same bikes and tires and road some of that chunky new big gravel this weekend. It was only part of the time and the Tusks may not have been perfect but they were way better than the OEM tires for sure. The rest of the dirt roads they were great for us, and I can lighten my bag, If I get a flat I'll just zip tie it and ride home. Thanks again for the review!

Love the k760 and it's by far the best dot dirt tire I've used. You should try a tubeless setup in the rear at least you will love it. You can run 4lb and it feels like 8 as far as the wallowing feeling you get. And will stay on the bead at 0 as long as you don't puncher the bladder

I’ve run the Tusk Dsport and it’s like riding on a Fred Flinstone tire. If only on pavement and very little off road it will work. It was the hardest tire to spoon on I have ever installed. I ran a 120/90 and for only a 4 ply it’s feels like a semi tire…. If ADV bike and need a tire that will last a long time Dsport is good. I’ve heard that D606 is a slightly softer compound and might be better overall. I have ran Shinko 216Mx, Pirelli MT16 and Starcross 5 Medium and all very good on dirt, sand and gravel. Dsport on FSR seem okay if more hard pack…if more gravel it seems really sketchy. I just ordered a Trackmaster 2 and will give that a try. Thanks for your insight.
Just replaced my stock 450rl tires with some kenda desert terrains and I don't know if those tires are good or bad but they're worlds better off road than the stock ones. Should've thrown those stock tires away right off the bike leaving the dealership floor.
Big d-sport fan. Drz400s, they work well in sand, great on the road, inexpensive, and last a long time. It’s a firm tire that feels solid on a 330 lb drz with a 170 lb rider. I run 18 psi rear, 22 front.
How is the front tire? I heard some guys say it's a little squirrly? I know a few Dr.Z owners who run Tires kenda Parker DT front/Dsport rear. Do they make the dsports for the SM rims?
Good to hear reviews. I actually watched the whole vid. The thing is I have a very well set up KTM. why would I put cheap tires on it..... I guess these tires will do the job but great bikes deserve excellent equipment.
So what would you suggest as a road legal tire that excels off road if money is no object? I'm looking at the Trakmasters not for the price but because they're the closest thing I've seen to a full on dirt bike tire that is still road legal.
A true 50/50 rear is a a balance between grip / longevity on the road and decent grip off road. On my DRZ I have used the D606. The front was not good off road. The rear was good on the road, lasted 6000km and OK off road. I have then used the MT21 and really happy with the front for grip / longevity for both on / off road. The rear is a softer compound then the D606 so grips better but wears faster. I would like to try the Kenda but don't want to change my tyres every 1000km.
Good review man. How far do you wear your trackmaster to? I blew a tube on my trackmaster I was going to wear them the rest of the year.. I drove them home 10-15km no issue at about 15km. There's not much tread left in the doubles and triples before they become one tread instead of separated in their 2/3 blocks. Should I flip them to the sharp edge and wear them down a bit more or swap them out and put the heavy duty tube in? I had the stock drz400 tube in it when I switched to the trackmaster....
Thanks for watching! I run HD tubes all the time. I’m a sucker for good traction, so I only run them down to the knobby split, then swap them. If you want to get your money’s worth I’d flip them to the good edge & get some more life.
Great review! Another really good true dual sport tire that hooks up in the dirt but is also actually very good on the road and a great value is the IRC Battle Rally TR8. They wear really well also. Not talked about much at all- super underrated tire in my opinion. I run a set of them on my 250L and have no complaints. I think they would be the fourth tire in this comparison. Check them out for a review!
I just had the IRC TR8 Battle Rally tires installed 2 days ago. So far, they're great on pavement, although they do take a little more effort to steer at speed than the stock Dunlop D605 on my 2018 KLX250. However, tomorrow will be the real test. I'll be riding from my home in New Mexico to Purgatory, Colorado. Then taking Forest Road 578/Hermosa Park road, about 27 miles of dirt/gravel road that goes over the 11,000+ foot elevation Bolam Pass, then comes out on State Road 145 a little north of Rico, Colorado. I estimate about 230 miles total. That'll be a good test of how well they do.
Checking out your videos. Wondering if you have compared the kenda 760 to the Michelin AC 10 rear. I will search through your videos. I run an AC 10 with Tubliss rear in Colorado. Knobs don’t last long. Sidewall is ok.
What about the front tire? Currently have the D605, don't like the D606 front, considering the Trakmaster 2, or the DT772 for the front, and the DT772 for the rear.
Currently have trakmaster front on 2 bikes, have run them several times in the past, they are my favorite front to date. They have great traction off road, very easy to mount.
I had 605 on my wr250r and we're great on everything but mud. I had a set of d sports on which were better in mud but not as good on the road. Just depends on preference.
Have you tried d606 in comparison to the tusk dports? That's what I have on my drz now and they seem ok. I need something that wears well on the asphalt, but can perform well offroad in all conditions aswell. I'm kinda leaning towards the irc tr8 front and either tusk rear or tr8 or d606 rear, but I'd like to try something new and cheaper if possible
The wear is basically the same between the 2 in my experience. The 606 is definitely better off road & equal to the tusk on road. I would stick with the 606.
@@IAmYourReflection Old comment, but I think their point is that it's half the price for roughly similar performance. You have to make the determination if gaining 10 or 20% better off road performance is worth double the cost. Depends on how hard you want to off road and how fat or skinny your wallet is.

The 606 will wear slightly longer & have less road noise. The On road ride is very comparable. The AMS is definitely better off road. The AMS front would do well with any brand of rear. Thanks for watching!!
i ride a stock DRZ400 and i weigh 198lbs - do you think i can also run 8 or 10 psi front and rear with my tusk dsport tires without it making it really easy to get a flat tire? thats the only reason ive never tried running them so low, i always assumed it would be really easy to get a flat. thanks!
You should b fine, I’m around 205lbs. Without any gear, never had any issues with the Dsports, I run heavy duty tubes, sometimes ultra heavy duty. Thanks for watching!! I run every brand at that PSI. Never get pinch flats.

@@MrBeefsnorkel U should probably have rim locks to run that low of psi, i ran my last few bikes at 8/10 rear/front offroad in slower trails under 35mph. Over that speed I blew a rear k760 so then i ran 10/12 and didnt have problems
thanks, i just put a set on my 300l. took them on some logging trails and wow! the bike feels quite a bit more connected to the ground. i do mostly 50-50 riding so these tusk tires should be much better than the irc stock tires.
I'm curious as to what front tire you're running with the Trackmaster and AMS . Yeah I've had my experience with tusk basically gave away new tires once I took them off well you know why I took them off ugh

Ordered some Trak masters for my Klx300. The oem Dunlaps have a shorter tread depth than a ribbed condom. Hope they do better in the mud and clay.
They will do 100% better. I have a set here waiting to go on my KLX 300, if it ever comes in!!

I haven’t tried the AC 10, have had a few guys recommend it.

You can get a front and rear dsport for less than one rear d606 . The dsport is a great value for close to performance

how do the tusk dual sport tires compare to the stock irc tires?
IMO the Tusk are an improvement when off road over the IRC. Same performance on road. Thanks for watching!

AMS front or Dunlop EN 91 front , both work great off road, & do well on road.

The d sport is good with a moose but so is everything else
How bout the dsport in sand?
I personally have no experience in sand, my areas are all rocks, roots & dirt.
