Pirelli scorps, love them too, but more $ and I only get 800 to 1000 miles on them if easy riding, D606 rear gets it done too. less grip, wears longer, motoz desert HT, even with Tubliss, the southern T1 with its climbs are a bit more challenging but still doable. I've got the Pirelli MT21's on my XT225. They carve up off road very well, and I've used them in hare scrambles without lacking for traction. Then on the flip side of that, I've cornered so hard on the street with them, I've scraped my saddle bags. They're a very confident tire. The only way I can get that XT on a 65mph freeway near me is to take the ramp (Marked 25mph) going flat out (60-70mph) just because I won't be able to accelerate on the straight portion of the ramp quick enough. The front tire has very bad uneven wear, where one side of the nubs wears faster than the other, but the tire can be reversed. I won't be reversing mine, since I'm in the market for fresh ones before I take my dual sport to an arenacross race. And I haven't ruled out the MT21's.
I just went from Mitas E-07s to Michelin Anakee Wilds. Love the look of the Wilds on my bike and it feels more gripped up on and off road. Hello Fortnine. Good review. Thank you! I've tried the AC-10, D606, Kenda Parker, Pirelli Scorpion Pro. My friend has done the AC-10 and T-63. The T-63 rear is freakishly small compared to other tires of the same size and they also wear quickly on the road from what my friend says. I ride mostly desert and 98% dirt. My favorite front is the Pirelli Scorpion Pro. Very confidence inspiring. I like the Kenda Parker DT rear. Scorpion Pro rear is good but has FIM sized knobbies which aren't as tall as the Kenda DT. For this year's LA Barstow to Vegas I may do a Trackmaster 2 rear and Scorpion Pro front.

Thanks for the review. Great info for certain. I have a WR250R, and I ride pretty much only off road, maybe a quick in the neighborhood test run occasionally. I've been running the D606 rear and MT21 front and have been pretty happy with the setup. It can definitely sketchy on sand and mud if you don't have the pressures down to lower, around 12 to 15 is where I normally run them.. Great video buddy! Very detailed, well put together and the information presentation regarding visual aids and experience were unparalleled. Keep up the great reviews, we really enjoy what you do for us.
Since you are a neighbor from the north, I figured I'd make a comparison between the Michelin Desert Race what I personally view as its 4-wheeled vehicle DOT equal; the Toyo M55. They're both tires that will cost you $300+ as of today, and both are equally hard to find any significant information on (probably both produced in small quantities) however I've NEVER heard anything negative about either tire. Most reviews on the M55 are from oilfield workers in rural Canada, and say they outlast the truck they're fitted on commonly. Having owned a a set for ≥30k miles, often with 7-10k lbs. in tow behind, I'd assume they aren't lying. Personally haven't owned a Michelin yet because I haven't had any desire to do much off-road but with a few years experience I'm a bit more comfortable taking the LRP off road. But I personally believe either of these I mentioned are assuredly the best "cannot afford any issues/SHTF" tires for their respective vehicles (4WD Trucks/Vehicles or Dirt/Dual-Sport Bikes) even though the average consumer might have a heart attack from the sticker shock. 2 examples where you really do get what you pay for.

You will replace the rear tire every 600-1000 miles but they only cost $60--80usd. One bad crash in mud has convinced me to just buy a tire that works in the worst conditions I ride in.
OK. I ordered some Michelin Desert Race tires for my '02 Honda XR650R, a 90/90-21 Front and a 140/80-18. I seriously hope these things hang as I'm riding about 4 miles on the street to the desert, where I have 220 square miles of the most inhospitable desert environment known to man!!!

Shinko 700's are hard to beat. Cheap, good mileage, alternating knobs so they're smooth on the highway, great on dirt roads. I get about 3,000 miles out of the back, 4,000 out of the back.
I have to echo everything you say about the D606 and MT21. I ran front and rear MT21 from 1995-2005 on two DR350 SEs I had. By about the 2003-2004 time frame, a few friends started running D606 tires. One friend crashed hard at under 5 mph because the front D606 was so sketchy on hard packed dirt. I swore I'd never use a D606 on the front when I saw that happen. in 2006 I upgraded to a DRZ400S. It had MT21s on it already. For the year prior, i was seeing how much long my riding friends were getting out of their D606 rear than I could get out of my MT21, so I switched to D606 rear but kept running MT21 on the front. It's 2021. I still have the DRZ and still run the same combo. The MT21 used to chunk on rocky terrain. D606 has NEVER done that. Don't wast your money on the Tusk DSport. I was frugal and bought it. It's wearing fast and starting to chunk with under 500 miles on it from riding down in the Silverton, CO area for 4 days last summer on my KTM450 EXC-F
Top notch review! Would love to see your opinion on the Pirelli Scorpion RALLY tire which appears to have the exact same lug pattern as the Pirelli MT21 although the lugs are shaped differently.
I prefer TKC80s pretty much everywhere, but they also cost more than they should. K60s will give you better mileage for your $, especially on a 800+cc bike. Shinko makes the E804/E805, which is essentially a TKC80 rip-off. That also offers more bang for your buck, and handles about the same as a TKC80. I talk about some of this stuff in these videos: ua-cam.com/video/HvN913Zv6SM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/7YV0UzL68oU/v-deo.html. Cheers! ~RyanF9
Love the video! Nice and sweet. I have a question though - where would you put the Michelin AC10 in comparision to Scorpion? I'm asking because I'm looking for a tire for my WR250R which will be more less 80off/20on, mosty light to intermediate terrain and I think more sand then rocks. I do however use the bike to move around the city from time to time, and I do have to reach the offroad areas as well, hence tne 20. I like the AC10s but with all these choices I'm at a loss a bit :)
I ran a D606 front and rear on a ktm 500 exc-f on the Utah, Arizona, and California BDRs - 3k miles dirt, sand, and rocks and about 1k miles pavement -- they worked great! The rear is about done, but still has some tread in the center - the front I could probably run another 4k.
Idk how these tires still hold up after 3.5 years, but I just ended up ordering a pair of MT21s for my new (to me) KLR. I took the roughly 80/20 street/dirt tires it came with off road once, and that was enough for me, I'm gonna need something a bit more aggressive!
Hi Mate how are you going with your MT 21s on KLR 650? I am planning to get MT 21 on my rear and Bridgestone AX41 90/90 on front for My KLR 650.. if you could share your experience, my appreciated.. Cheers
@@abhilashkv They're great! They're pretty noisy on the road, as you would expect, but they do handle pretty well in a corner for knobbies. Off road, they're fantastiic, I feel like I can plow through anything on my KLR. I think they pair well with the sheer mass of the KLR. I can't say much for the durability because my KLR was out of commission for a while so I've put lmaybe 1k miles on them so far. There is a bit of cracking in the rubber at the base of the knobs, but the bike lives outdoors, so the cold weather might have contributed to that.
Hey FortNine! My son Ryan and I really enjoy your channel! We just picked up a couple of Husqvarna FE501’s. We are now in the great debate of what tire to replace the stock ones with. Your last review is a couple of years ago. We are looking for a 90 dirt 10 street DOT tire. Would you recommend anything differently from your review a couple of years ago? Thanks again! Love the Channel!!!!
have only tried the Dunlop D606 from the tires you tested, but its awesome. hooks up on mud and street, good lean angles on street. would love to try the Michelin T63 and compare.
Hello, just wonder between Dunlop EN 91 vs AT 81 vs D 606 … The EN 91 at road would last as the AT 81 ? Between these two and the D 606 , at Off road ?
Should i get Pirelli MT 21's for my Yamaha DT 125? I plan to use it mostly offroad but i want a tire that can do both onroad and offroad. So is this a good choice?
I put something similar on my DRZ-400S, it’s the fattest tire I have put on yet, it’s a Metzeler DOT 120/100-18” fat nobby tire. But I really wanted to try it out, it changed my ratio and now my rpms are a lot lower on the street. I like it, it doesn’t feel solid on the turns so you just have to take it easy but that fat tire fits!! And my bike looks way more tuff, it’s a cool look with that fat nobbys. I running a 15 tooth/44 tooth sprocket ⚙️. If anyone was wondering.
I have a question will a 120/90/19 fit on a 2008 yz450f and would it be a bad choice for just bombing around in all different terrains? As I just bought a maxxis it in this size and not sure if I mad a bad choice
May try D606 and/or MT-21, but...If I used an AC-10 rear what's a good front to match? AC-10 front's ok but small by some reports. Any thoughts on an aggressive front to match AC-10 rear? I use this bike mostly off road. Even if I have to ride on the road a bit of distance (50 km or more) it is only to get to off road trails.
I like your style, I find the XCMH to be a straight dirtbike tire with DOT on it. I run front and back on a 2002 KTM EXC 400. Recently it has carried me from the Columbia River to the Canadian border on the WABDR. About 600 miles of various terrain, loaded up with everything I need to live on for seven days. My son had the same bike with the same tires, packed up and he might have showed a little bit more wear and tear, since he is a better dirt Rider and spins the back far more than I do. We ran them on the asphalt to connect trails and besides being loud and aggressive knobs that vibrate, which I can deal with for true dirt, mud, sand, gravel competency, they are truly my favorite DOT knobby doughnuts. Since they are not very gummy, the lugs seem to be in wonderful condition and we could have easily racked up more miles. What are your thoughts and experiences?
I haven't ordered them yet! Was looking for reviews on them and not finding much. Wow, sounds like an awesome trip! I was debating on full set of XCMH vs MT21 rear with XCMH front for a little more mileage on the rear. Do the XCMH do well in sand?
Kurtis Newhouse I feel that the MT21s will give better on road comfort, on road mileage with off-road ability. The sand,... I am a weenie in the sand. I know it, and like the wet asphalt, I ride slower and more cautiously. I would honestly assume that the MT21 would be a better tire in the sand. I don't know why there is not more enthusiasm, more reviews, or more people just adoring the XCMH. Maybe because it is not gummy and does not stick to damp or wet rock faces very well. But I find it awesome in the Pacific Northwest and I just ride accordingly. Pirelli doesn't seem to promote that tire as much as the others.
I hear you there, the deeper I dig it seems a lot of people swear by the XCMH. I'm in Michigan and we have a mix of about everything, but deep sand pops up quite frequently. I would love to ride the Northwest! You're right the XCMH is barely promoted, you or your son should do a UA-cam review

About to put a comment to ask about these. Great work btw man, love your channel
+FortNine 5:34 "Wanders like a drunk uncle" holy shit Ryan that's gotta be the most amazing analogy I've heard in a very long time, and I am stealing the shit out of it.
Steal away :) ~RyanF9
I absolutely love the Pirelli Scorpion XCMS, these seem to hook up in everything! DOT approved also.
Your video releases are uncannily in tune with my buying needs. I just bought the T63s for my '08 Husaberg FE550 :)
Sweeeeeet bike. ~RyanF9
Indeed, awesome bike!
I can't believed they shelved it.
BTW, Answer your questions, even if it was years ago.😄
Were still here!🥰
BTW2, What about the Metzler MC360, aside from locking up easy on pavement, true story, its a good tire for mud, but the front wears funny.
One of the best dual sport youtube video masters!
Would love to see this video updated to the newer tires available now...
Thanks king Joffrey!!
It most likable character on UA-cam I think.
He is capable of a huge platform carried on his own likeness.
But... Glad he's interested in bikes and not politics. Lol
Really impressed by this video.
Shinko 700's are hard to beat. Cheap, good mileage, alternating knobs so they're smooth on the highway, great on dirt roads. I get about 3,000 miles out of the back, 4,000 out of the back.
You're a legend mate.
Great review but it seems like you didn't compare the Trackmaster and AC-10 fronts !
Great review man ...👍🏻👍🏻
I have to echo everything you say about the D606 and MT21.
Crashed hard at under 5mph, really… and that freaked you out? LMFAO
Fantastic channel and fantastic vids dude! Love your vids!
Nice video man! Thanks for the info!
You know some stuff bud!
Cheers for all the quality videos.
Keep up the top work
In the new video you should include the STI tech 2 pro Desert
What about both versions of the Metzeler 360? Personnally, I like the Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid Hard. Agressive pattern, durable.
I just love you and your channel...
Awesome video. Please, cover more dirt/road related topics. How to choose dirt helmet, goggles, boots for noobs, etc.
Top notch review! Would love to see your opinion on the Pirelli Scorpion RALLY tire which appears to have the exact same lug pattern as the Pirelli MT21 although the lugs are shaped differently.
what do you think about the Karoo 3? or the TKC 80? for a 800+cc bike
Cheers! ~RyanF9
Hi Ryan . Is the k760 Trakmaster 2 reversible?
Great review professional and accurate. I have had the ac10 but now I'm running the 606 will prob get another this summer.
Will you do a update video like this and include the Motoz Tractionator Desert H/T
Hey there!
What would you say is best for a Triumph Street Twin in urban use? I'm kinda scared of rainy comble stones...
I too would like to know this.
filmdetective I'm riding with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires on my T120. Love these tires compared to the stock Pirelli's.
Any thoughts on the mefo explorer?
AC 10 is discontinued... could you do a review of his successor michelin tracker?
And what about MAXXIS 7305?
Hi Ryan, do you guys get MotOZ tyres?
Love the video! Nice and sweet. I have a question though - where would you put the Michelin AC10 in comparision to Scorpion? I'm asking because I'm looking for a tire for my WR250R which will be more less 80off/20on, mosty light to intermediate terrain and I think more sand then rocks. I do however use the bike to move around the city from time to time, and I do have to reach the offroad areas as well, hence tne 20. I like the AC10s but with all these choices I'm at a loss a bit :)
ac10 i ran both on my ktm 300 and hands down ac10
Awesome video due
whats the best street legal offroad winter tire so i can studd it for my dual-sport :p
So thorough :)
Helpful, witty review!
I cannot find AC10... Have they been discontinued? Any replacements?
Hey FortNine! My son Ryan and I really enjoy your channel! We just picked up a couple of Husqvarna FE501’s. We are now in the great debate of what tire to replace the stock ones with. Your last review is a couple of years ago. We are looking for a 90 dirt 10 street DOT tire. Would you recommend anything differently from your review a couple of years ago? Thanks again! Love the Channel!!!!
Nice professional effort ;-)
Great review, but need updating. other new tyres in the market since 2016.
have only tried the Dunlop D606 from the tires you tested, but its awesome. hooks up on mud and street, good lean angles on street. would love to try the Michelin T63 and compare.
No perllie mt 43? That's a amazing ds tire.
Hello, just wonder between Dunlop EN 91 vs AT 81 vs D 606 …
The EN 91 at road would last as the AT 81 ?
Between these two and the D 606 , at Off road ?
Should i get Pirelli MT 21's for my Yamaha DT 125? I plan to use it mostly offroad but i want a tire that can do both onroad and offroad. So is this a good choice?
Excellent review! I found the D606 the best for me on my 1997 KTM RXC 620. I have ran 4 or 5 sets now.
Freaking awesome review!!!
I was pretty disappointed to find that you guys don't stock the t63. What would you recommend to take its place then?
Great vid,.. Except one thing.
Pirelli XCMH.
THE BEST
I was hoping they would pop up in the video too. Do you run XCMH on front and rear? What bike?
You're right the XCMH is barely promoted, you or your son should do a UA-cam review
the kenda trakmaster and ac10 are sold out for my bike do you know when it will become availble
What's your size? ~RF9
FortNine 100/100/18
Looks like your size is in stock for the Michelins (fortnine.ca/en/michelin-ac10-dual-sport-rear-tire). The Kendas should be back sometime in March. ~RyanF9
FortNine tanks😃
What are your opinions on the shinko 244s if you have heard of them?
So where does the pirelli scorpion rally fit in?
Great video!
I'd love to have seen some Kendas and Shinkos compared with these.
You should check out the Moto Z Tractionator IT for your next off-road street legal tire... Its amazing!!
So I have a 90 dr350s (the second legal one in America at that #2 of 90) I ended up getting some kenda k270 rear tires and a perreli mt21 front tire...is that gonna be a good combo or should I change rear tires from the kenda and go with something else (I have a hook up on tires and I only payed $20 for the kenda so I'm not to worried about wasted money
I ride my D606 on the track… it’s grate 😂
