This is by far the most comprehensive tire comparo / review since Fortnine and the MCN sport touring tire shoot-out. Still amazed the Dunlop Trailmax Mission did so well, despite its non-knobby look. Awesome work, Kyle n Chap!!!
THIS is why you expend resources to educate everyone freely. Those who can do business with you, now WANT to. Choosing a tire is like choosing components for an AR15 - the choices are overwhelming! This cuts right to the chase. Excellent video.
@@TheVaporous1 I'd like to believe it is because the videos are spread across so many different types of vehicles. ADV, Dirt, Street, Sport, Vintage, ATV, UTV, Trailers.... All the gear, helmets, etc... A specific "channel" for each segment of riding would "probably do better"... I think ;) Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Unbelievable superb information, answering so many question. I hope Kyle is at Chapparal when I need to get tires for my bike if not this helps tremendously. Thank you
ive just ran through my first set of K60 Scouts on my DR650 and because its only a 130 rear tire there is no center belt. that version of the scout is the best road tire ive ever ridden (even better than the pirelli diablo rosso 2 i had on my supermoto before). no matter if 20 degrees in the winter or 100 in summer, there was always superb grip and they are very transparent so you feel exactly what theyre doing. wet onroad grip was superb too. even when riding quickly in the twisties they never slid or slipped just like a real rain tire. offroad performance was relatively good as long as it was dry. in the mud they turned into racing slicks in no time. i got around 4500 miles out of the rear (mostly on road with mixed riding) but after 50% tread wear it was just trash in the dirt like a road tire.
I've got an SWM Superdual T fitted OEM with Metzler Tourance tyres. I know they are less than I need to get real confidence in the dirt and forest roads. I hate 'people's opinions' because everyone is an 'expert'.This is the best summation of tyres I have ever seen. Thanks
You missed the Dunlop Trailsmart. I'm curious how they would fit in. However I agree with Max. By far the most comprehensive tire review done by anyone
The TrailSmart is an "un-purchased and unasked for tire" and is really more of a 90/10 rather than an 80/20. That being said, it would have given that blasted Kenda Paver Tire a run for its money! I will get a set mounted up and will give you a test of the TrailSmart tires here shortly. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Team, this is a fantastic explanation, and really explores the challenges of the 'perfect' tyre. I'd appreciate some discussion on mixing tyres however as they were strictly considered as pairs (with some exceptions). For example, my ADV shop recommended a combo of Tractionator ADV rear and Scorpion Rally front. The logic is that neither set is perfectly balanced for rear and front applications. The higher wear rating on the rear means more slip - not a problem for those of us who don't mind a bit of slip angle off-road. The Scorpion front however is very soft and bites well, particularly when you weight up the front on a descent. Together, this tyre combo runs out at approximately the same time - as long as you don't burn up the Scorpion on-road. So what might improve this explanation, or simply increase its usefulness (it's already fantastic!), would be considerations for which application each tyre is more suited to for those who want to split sets.
Sigo mirando este video Kile, y sigo sacando información 😉 Cuál sería la cubierta delantera, con más agarre para Off Road? Gracias nuevamente. Y saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷

Out-freakin'-standing! I'm not one to get excited about shoot-outs, but this is exceptional in every aspect. Kyle, you and the team responsible for this group of videos, and shootout, should be congratulated by every mfg in this test. Every test result was represented positively, honestly, competently and with the depth of information that we all are looking for, to make solid decisions. Seems we are all a bit different in what we want, and the depth of testing was incredibly thorough. Your, and the teams, dedication to excellence reflects greatly on Chaparral Motorsports. Cheers!
Hi ts, thank you so much for the glowing review. it really was a long process to test all these tires but it was fun and definitely worth it. Very glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks again, ride safe.
I'm pulling my dad's 82 Honda thumper out and getting it going. The bike has some old Yokohama Moto tires from the 80's on it right now. Since Shinko makes their tires now I was leaning towards them. You just convinced me. You can get Shinko 705's online for like $60.
Thanks for the first conclusion with the tests. Funny to hear that the K60 scout are expensive in US because in France, it's a very low cost model. One of the cheapest I can buy here. They're made in Germany, but the US importer must apply a confortable margin. On the other side, Shinko Tyres are hard to find in France.
So interesting! Prices as compared to where they are made and how they perform... Set of K60 Scout $276 and the Shinko E804/E805 are $166... but the Mitas E-10 run $352 and get like 2k miles out of a set ;) The sets of Motoz tires were above $300 too. But they do last a long time - comparatively speaking. Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
@@chaparralmotorsports To compare, my last set of K60 cost me 137€ for the front and rear tyres. It's around 145 us$. For that price, the value is great.
2018 Yamaha WR250R owner here. Recently put on Pirelli MT21 front and Dunlop D606 Rear. Been doing pretty good with the small amount of time I have had with them. Really need to start experimenting with my pressures. Great vid!
Wow, this was so useful and informative Kyle. I am getting into ADV riding this spring and my Norden 901 arrives this week :) I was glad to see the stock Scorpion Rally STR's did well on your review as I will definitely be an 80/20 rider. What astonished me more is just how little mileage motorbike tires give you!! That was a huge eye opener to me (shock).
Glad it was helpful! Some people will get more or less mileage out of their tires depending on how they ride, terrain they ride, and their bike setup (luggage). Thanks for watching.
Kyle, thank you for putting in all the time and thought into compiling this information. By far the most comprehensive tire review done by anyone. Now get out and enjoy the tire of your choice on something other than your “loop”!
Ha! Ha! Thanks for your suggestion Max. I will work on it ;) But now... I am stuck behind the keyboard replying to comments and questions. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Kyle… great comprehensive test. Thank you. On my 18’ 1200 GSA I’ve rocked the Shinko 705’s (wonderful tire) & the Motoz GPS (awesome however sketchy in the wet (painted surface)). Presently riding a ’20 1250 GSA and considering the Anakee Adventure or Trailmax Mission. Leaning towards the Adventure due to the superior handling in the wet. 70/30 riding style. Again thanks. Your dedication is truly appreciated.
Thanks for watching! Love your profile pic! If looking for wet weather performance, the Anakee Adventure is fantastic! I have worn out a set and have ridden them in all conditions. The Anakee Adventure is much less dirt oriented than the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tire - that would be the tradeoff. Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
@@a2bwithlee Hi. On the '20 1250 gsa I went with the Anakee Adventure (22k kms). As Kyle alluded to these tires performed extremely well. Cold wet weather performance on asphalt, cement and gravel was essential. These tires were up to the task and lived up to their designed intent (80/20 may be 75/25).The only limitations wet mud. Regarding the Mission's I have no first hand experience. 🏍️✌🏼🏍️
bought my last set of tires from you guys just based on price. Will continue to buy from you guys from here on out for this level of effort. I really appreciate this, guys.
Just came back from a 4500km mainly pavement trip. Loved the 705 front and back. Riding some gravel near home this past weekend, they felt great and hooked up well. My new favourite for 80/20.
I’ve run a few of them, and will probably put on another set. Great tire for highway, gravel and dirt road type stuff. Heavy but very puncture resistant.
Guys, that was defenitely the best tire test for adventure bikes that I‘ve seen so far! Congratulations and a huge thanks for that great job 👍🏻. Regards from Germany
Thanks so much for the great info on this subject! I am planning on trying my FJ09 in for a smaller ADV/Dual Sport this coming year. It is awesome to have some real world hard numbers to work with for tire choice. I feel tires are about the most important thing you have to buy for your bike.
Chaparral Motorsports This whole series of tire testing videos and the ultimate conclusion is top notch work. The amount of views and traffic this series gets is not directly proportional to the amount of work you guys put in. Please let my purchase of a set Trailmax Mission tires act as a THANK YOU for your work.
Myles, thank you so much for watching the series and the very kind words. It was a long arduous testing process but also very fun. We greatly appreciate your support. Thank you again. Hope you enjoy your new tires. Ride safe.
What a great, comprehensive review! One thing I was looking for on the 50/50 tires was a "noise rating" on pavement - some of these tires howl loud enough to drown out the wind! Video is 3 years old now.... but any comment on this (specifically the Anakee Wild / TK80 / Bridgestone AX41)
Glad it was helpful! Sorry we didn't test noise. However, being that they are 50/50 tires noise/whine/howl will be present with them at speed. How much the sound affects you may be determined on your hearing sensitivity, helmet, ear plugs, road type, engine noise etc.
Great job! Just picked up a set of Dunlop Mission’s for my Super Tenere. Thank’s to your tire testing I think these will be the best fit for my riding style.
By far the best review I've ever seen you do. I was pretty sold on the TKC 80's on the 1290 R, now you have me rethinking that. Almost thinking of different rims so I can run a true Moto tire.
I bet it's been a while since the TKC80 hasn't appeared on a top [x] video. It just goes to show the advancements in the industry. Especially for the Dunlop Mission tyre to make a podium finish on it's first try.
Yeah right!? I tell you .... I tried EVERYTHING to attempt to get the Mission tire to be really what it looks like, an 80/20 tire. BUT, it really did perform and it performed really really well. Pretty nuts. Thanks for watching! - Kyle
Yes, that was the interesting part of this test. It really was done tire-by-tire... over the same course. Watching each test back it really is crazy to see how different each of the tire did in each segment. Now... the TKC80 is still a fantastic tire, and it has it's place in the market but there are no SO MANY options that really cater to specific riding styles. Take for example that Avon TrailRider - what a NEAT tire! And the Karoo Street... I'd rock that if I were doing mostly street! But... who needs a street tire if the Dunlop TrailMax mission "feels like a street tire" and handles off road too. Nuts... Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
@@chaparralmotorsports I've ridden about 5K miles on Avon Trailrider tires mounted on my Zero DSR. After trying Kenda K761 / Pirelli MT-60 / Conti Trail Attack 2 / Mitas E07. I ABSOLUTELY love the Avon Trailrider tires. Sure, they aren't great in sand or mud, but with enough throttle they will get through it. But if you like carving turns and blasting dirt roads / 2-tracks, they are fantastic. So predictable even in rain, cold, etc...
@@itchypalm36 i run tkc80s and they carve pretty dang good. i've scraped pegs plenty. the rear does wear quick though, so something else would be required.
I need to thank you guys for this. I've watched this video i think more than 5 times now just to find the right tire. I have learned that when you want to make a high millage trip with lotts of road en off road, you gonna be making compromises. But I have everything that I need now to make the right choice for my journey.
Glad it helped! Exactly, there is no perfect tire for every bike/situation/terrain/riding style, so yeah there will be compromises. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.
I just found your channel and have spent the last 3hrs watching the videos, amazing footage. I have a 690 enduro, live in Australia and ride a few hours on blacktop then mostly firetrails with the odd single track thrown. What would you recommend pairing with a Motoz adventure or Rallz rear? (I hear the motoz fronts arnt the best) Thanks mate and keep up the amazing work.
Congratulations for what is an exceptional review. Given that tire pressure is universally recognised as having a massive impact on tire performance both off and on road. It would be interesting to take the top 3 best overall performing tires for both the 80/20 and 50/50 categories and assess the impact on performance of running them at manufacturers recommended pressures, plus at say -5% and -10%. Has the decades old best practise of airing down been impacted by the massive advances in recent years in tire technology and manufacturing process? There must be a reason that some manufactures recommend that even for off road use that the manufacturer recommend tire pressures are used.
Yes, this would be an interesting test! Great suggestion! The Motoz Tractionator Adventure tire I tested near the end... in that video it was at 36/ 38 psi at the beginning of the video and WHEW was slippery when I hit the dirt. Aired down to 30 psi... MUCH better! Now Dunlop says that the Mission tire does not need to be aired down and they recommend full pressure always. BUT... I found that the Air Down REALLY helped the tire perform. Now... mileage will be compromised... and that is the reason I think they recommend full pressures. And the K60 Scout.... Full pressure is SKETCHY off road! Even 30 psi was not enough in my opinion! Thanks for watching. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Kyle your the man. Great review and info! The Trailmax Mission tire weight surprised me. Seems like that extra weight contributes to the coverall scoring. Just installed a pair on my 2017 Vstrom 650. With my expected 70/30 use....can't wait to rack up the miles and enjoy my new purchase. Thanks
Awesome choice Rory! Please follow up with your feelings on the Mission tire after you burn (ever so slowly) through it. I really liked it on the V-strom 650 that I rode at the press launch. I think that you will get more miles than most other bikes... but only time will tell. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
2017 V-Strom 650. I've got my Anakee Adventures to finish up, then I'll be finishing up a half-used pair of E07s I took off from later last year, then trying out the Missions which I've got sitting in my garage right now. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts considering hot stiff the Missions are
Very good review! I like the fact that you narrate thoroughly enough that I don't need to visually keep track of the discussion but am able to listen to it in the background. Bought the AX41s for my local Oregon gravel roads but aside from being loud, they are performing well on street and inspiring confidence on dirt. Had I known the knobs are so short I may have chosen otherwise, and the rear is wearing quickly in the center. Otherwise so far so good. Thanks again for the review.
Hi, RK, thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. We made it so that people could see how the various tire handled different terrain/conditions and could then hopefully determine which tires would suit their needs/riding style best. Thanks again for watching.

This being by far the best reviews of motorcycle tires available I'm wondering if a noise check should be added to the categories. In the videos Kyle always touches on this subject but I think it would be really interested to see this done with a decibel meter and then see if Kyle's feels the same when he rides. Thank you again for those great reviews.
Invaluable information. The shear science in the numbers is clear. Really helped me pick which tire was for me. Thanks a ton Kyle and Chaparral for being my choice for all my gear and parts!
Wish we had guys like you in Australia about to do 4000ks on Australian desert , outback roads and tracks all remote , would have changed my mind based on your report . Let’s see how the E10s go thanks mate for all the work u done it benefits all of us
Thank you for your comment Don. The Motoz tires are made in Australia and are some of our favorites! Killer 50/50+ tires! The E-10's were great but they wear out quick. On my personal bike I currently have the E-10 up front and a Motoz RallZ in the rear. SWEET Combo! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

Great video Kyle! Thanks for all that you do for us riders. Love the Battlaxe Adventurecross AX41 tires myself. Curious that the Mitas E0-7+ didn't warrant any comments?
Good question! The Mitas E07+ is a great 50/50 tire that fell mid pack. Mid pack made it not so talk-able for the that did really good and same with tires that did not perform so well. Kinda like the quiet kid... Overlooked a little bit. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
The goal is to help that rider find the best tire for their style of riding! We all ride a different ride and these tires really do cater specifically to very different styles of riding... even if lumped under the umbrella of 80/20 or 50/50. Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Awesome test!!! The work that was involved was massive I’m sure. Looked like fun though. Your test results will impact my next purchase through Chap. Thanks again.
Thx ChapMoto and Kyle for putting together this in depth comparison, glad to see all the types of use and varied options in tread life and cost available.
Great question. One could look at our spreadsheet which has tire tread depth, tire weight, and ply make-up to see what tire would appear to have have been made with more puncture resistant materials. Interesting idea though... some sort of puncture tool that would rate what force it takes to push a nail through the tread / carcass. Hummmm.... Thanks for the idea! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
@@chaparralmotorsports One reason I like the Shinko 244 - $100 per year. I get a lot fewer flats with new fat tires. Tread looks OK, too bad, new set every fall.
Excellent review and I like the way you present the data showing performance first for those for whom that is paramount and then adding in things like cost and mileage that are important to those of us on a budget and who don’t ride at a 10/10ths level that can utilize all of the performance capability of a premium performance tire.
Outstanding! Thanks for all your hard work. The ratings at the end for each performance category are especially helpful for choosing the best tire for the riding I do.
Nice Kyle thanks for this! I'm running the E07+ on my 1190 Std. I love them but the front washes out as you pointed in one of your videos. Which front tire would you recommend to pair with the E07+ rear?

Great video. Bought a set of Dunlop Missions after watching. Hoped to avoid a tyre change going up the Dempster Highway. 650 VStrom 2 up. I would have like a set of full knobbies on the Dempster but they performed well enough. Some puckering involved. 8000km trip.
Looking to do the same with the tires on my '12 Wee (can't remember what they are, but they're still the factory ones as the previous two owners only put a combined 5400 miles on the bike) but looking to get the Shinko 705s because I'm cheap.
They handle well on street, terrible in gravel and the rear lasted 5500 on my DL1000. I got passed by my buddy’s C14 while wallowing around in a gravel road.
JustThaor mine were terrible. I didn’t air down because we were only doing short stints of gravel but I don’t expect to have to air down to run a gravel road.
Wow very comprehensive review and a ton of effort to put this together. Based on this I am going to give the Trailmax Mission a run on my 2012 R1200GS.
Thanks for all of your past tyre reviews and this summary. Your impartial observations allow me to make more informed tyre purchases. Keep up the good work.

Great video! Thanks for the research. Last summer I ran TKC 70's up to AK on my Triumph Tiger Explorer and switched to Shinko 804/805's in Anchorage to the Dalton and most of the way back to San Diego. The TKC 70's did better than expected in light, loose gravel, but I was happy to have the thick lugged Shinko's on the Dalton where the gravel was thicker and much deeper; the Shinko 804/805s were great, even on wet pavement. As prep for a run to Cabo, I'm torn on what to run. Serious riders I've talked to love the Trailmaxx Mission but I question them in thick sand, my Shinko's are great with my 560lb+ Triumph fully loaded - with the exception of thick sand, but that could just be me; I'm considering going with a Trailmaxx Mission front and either a TKC70 Rocks rear or a Motoz Tractionator Adventure rear. Any qualified input on what to run to Cabo - with the plenty of off-road detours in mind - would be awesome. Thanks!
Hello, thanks you for the detailed insight. Our thoughts are, thick sand is can be a challenge for pretty much any ADV 50/50 tire that will also yield a good amount of mileage. We didn't test the TKC70 Rocks so unfortunately we cannot provide any thoughts on them. But if you haven't already, take a look at our blog post with detailed break downs of the tires we tested and their results in various terrain. www.chapmoto.com/blog/motorcycle-gear-guides/adv-motorcycle-tires/
I run now E07 rear and d606 front. Ive always ran E09 in the rear on my old AT but now with ktm950 i chosen e07 for better longevity as lc8 is known for eating rears. And im surprised how well it does offroad! Just so you know, bike you have also have big impact.on tire choice. Cheers, great video.
Thanks for the vid. I've been running the Shinko 705 for years despite jeers at the bmw shop when I go in to have then mounted. Not the best off-road tire, but it has taken everywhere I've tried to go, never failed, cracked, or delamed. I get about 7-8k out of them. I was glad to see them on the list, as some people seem to shun or discredit them, based on a bad batch of tires in the early 2000's. I end up on the tarmac more than dirt and the 50/50's just melt away too fast for my wallet.
Great information, Thanks, Kyle. I've tested a number of tires over the last five years and my goto tire is the Mitas E-07 Dakar for the mileage and performance. Cheers.
Thank you very much for this wonderful review. The tire I am looking for is a Great twisty road tire and a good performing off road tire, doesn't need to be aggressive but have grip in hill climb and straight off road like rocks and bolders; can handle mud too but not that great, more road oriented... Now I have the Metzler Karoo Street as always. It is great in Corners and scraping pegs in low and high speed maneuvers in my BMW R1200 GSA LC.

I love my Micheline Anakee 2, 3, Adventure tyres for my 1200 Super Tenere, and the Pirelli Scorpions for my XTZ660 Tenere, for mainly road use in wet. I was riding in the UK for over 5 years all year round, and all these tyres have given me the option to hit 100mph in the worst possible rain. I have always timed my tyre changes around October so I get a fresh set for the rainy season.
@@chaparralmotorsports Thank you for the good content! I take no credit for choosing these tyres, because the Scorpions were suggested by my local tyre change place, and the Anakee ones came with my used Super Tenere, and because I got to love their performance, I stuck with them regardless of the price, because having good tyres gives one extra line of defense to keep me safe on the road.;)) You know, if you ride half a year in rain, better get prepared for it.;)) Thank you for the kind words! Riding on the legal limit in dry is fine, but in the wet it can be tricky;)) Ride safe and keep up the lovely work!;))
This was a well thought out tire review. Thank you. Two suggestions: Include the scores for each category. Some times there may be 5 or 7 tires with similar scores and other times just one or three. Also, use mm for tread depth; it's easier to understand.
After watching your video I still can’t decide between anakee adventure 80/20, Dunlop mission, or the tractionator GPS. highway/freeway rides 70mph+. Also good on fire roads/gravel roads. And great for rain. Right now my kTm 790 adventure has stock Avon trail riders on them. They vibrate at higher speeds on the highway. Can feel it in the handle bars. I saw at the end you had a freeway listing not sure if high speed long distance travel is what you meant or not I know I’m a year late to this video but just watching it for first time now. Great video btw!!!

Just awesome as usual. Your tire loop with the range of tyres, and in-depth analysis, still put you as the guru of these reviews. Thank your for this awesome mega tire review !
I really liked the amount of work you guys put into the testing of all different tires, I appreciate being able to add my experience. I used the Hidenau K60 on a trip to Alaska and the noice coming out of the front tire made me consider taking them of my bike even that they had only 1000 miles. Once you went over 60 mph it was a bit better.
Mounted the GPS 3 months ago for CDT run with the tenere. Tire has about 7000miles and for most riders it is past its useful life. (I get about the same with a K60 and 3000 out of a shinko 705). The rear has met my expectations run in the mostly off road pattern. I dont mind the rear getting a little loose in the dirt. The front is Scarry on gravel. About the same as the 705 in gravel. I find it hard to believe the TKC 80 is worse in the gravel. I would find a front tire and do the GPS again, but I too have crazy cracks appearing in my 3 month old tire. Good friend just pulled off a set MOTOz adv with 1000 miles, same issue. They met my needs for the summer, but the cracks are a problem for many. Back to the futile search for a perfect tire. Was Soo close.
Epic test and review, Kyle! Great job in distilling down all the myriad parameters involved. Even knowing about all of these - or rather being reminded of them - is a good heads-up to considering and making a decision about any tyres that one is confronted with in the local shops.
The problem I'm having is, I have an older 2005 BMW F650gs single and am looking to replace the tires in the near future. Bought the bike used with an unknown amount of miles on the current Shinko tires but they're maybe half tread. They're the 804/805 that you featured here. I'm looking for something longer wearing and 50/50 but the problem is everything I see that I like and has positive reviews are tubeless. I have wire wheels and need a 100/90-19 front, 130/80-17 rear, tube type.
many thanks for the charts at the end ,, the twisties on an FTR1200 is my prime concern with the looks of a rugged tire ( shallow i know)! for me it looks like the pick of ankee , pirelli str , metz karoo str, i thought id be in with avon trailrider with the softest compound assuming they must be super grippy however i think they were 4th in catagory of - twisties. thanks very much

I still keep coming back to your review. Fantastic source of seemingly unbiased info. Thank you heaps.

This is by far the most comprehensive tire comparo / review since Fortnine and the MCN sport touring tire shoot-out. Still amazed the Dunlop Trailmax Mission did so well, despite its non-knobby look. Awesome work, Kyle n Chap!!!
Wow, thanks! We greatly appreciate the kind words. Thank you for watching.
THIS is why you expend resources to educate everyone freely. Those who can do business with you, now WANT to. Choosing a tire is like choosing components for an AR15 - the choices are overwhelming! This cuts right to the chase. Excellent video.

Ditto. very thorough.
No mention of my favourite; Mitas E-09. I run them on both my 650 and 1290R. Good mileage, superb offroad.
-- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

hands down best video on the topic of adventure tires
Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Hi thanks for the suggestion, it really makes sense. We like the idea ad will put it to consideration for the future. Thanks again. Ride safe.
Sawyer post only put knobbies on the rear if you're going to be in mud get dog pads put a mission on the back and Nabis on the front
Silicone is awesome it pushes the water away and really grips same thing on my boots from Danner boots

Great choice Mitchell. The Shinkos are great for the money. You'll have a blast on that Honda. Ride safe.

Hi. I’d love to hear your experience with either of those tires.

How do you like them so far?
Just came back from a 4500km mainly pavement trip. Loved the 705 front and back.
Riding some gravel near home this past weekend, they felt great and hooked up well.
My new favourite for 80/20.
I’ve run a few of them, and will probably put on another set. Great tire for highway, gravel and dirt road type stuff. Heavy but very puncture resistant.
I've read they don't do well in wet?

This is one of the best tire reviews I have watched, thanks man....
Wow, thanks! We appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for putting together the testing and info that magazines no longer do..... great job! And please keep more content like this coming!

How did they hold up for you? Do you reccomend them?
By far the best review I've ever seen you do. I was pretty sold on the TKC 80's on the 1290 R, now you have me rethinking that. Almost thinking of different rims so I can run a true Moto tire.
Right on! Thanks foe watching.
(I hear the motoz fronts arnt the best)
Thanks mate and keep up the amazing work.

Have you determined which ones may be more puncture resistant than the others? An important trait when miles away from anyone/anything.

Great question Markus! Some of the 80/20 tires would have beat out some of the lower scoring 50/50 tires for sure! And vice versa... Sounds like a future video! Thanks for the suggestion. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Awesome review! Thank you!

Time to join the rest of the world and go metric ! F....the fractions !
It would be a lot easier. Thanks for watching,.
What, you don't miss that 33/64th socket? So stupid.
In Europe we have this stupid system, Tirewidth in millimeter, rimwitdth in inch , Rim/ tire diameter in inch and profile in percent .
@@TompaDee true, never thought of that 150/70 17,,,, 150mm 70mm on 17 inch rim lol.
@@roadwarrior8560 Yes but 70 is NOT 70 mm. Its 70 percent of 150. That is so, stupid🤪
I mean for lets say klr id put the most agressive 50/50 rear as he can barely move its own weight, so tire life is less of cocnern ;
Great insight Roni. Very true about tire choice and the bike you ride.
Thanks for the info! Whatever works for you and your preferences is all that matters. Ride safe.
Great information, Thanks, Kyle. I've tested a number of tires over the last five years and my goto tire is the Mitas E-07 Dakar for the mileage and performance. Cheers.
Hi, we greatly appreciate you watching out video. THe Mitas E-07 is a great tire. Ride safe.

My man. You just saved my poor South African ass a ton of money. Thank you for the work put into this.
Thanks. Glad to help. Ride safe.
Hi thanks for watching our video. Those are some great tire choices. Sounds like you have a pretty good system down for your tire changes. Ride safe.
@@chaparralmotorsports Thank you for the good content!
I take no credit for choosing these tyres, because the Scorpions were suggested by my local tyre change place, and the Anakee ones came with my used Super Tenere, and because I got to love their performance, I stuck with them regardless of the price, because having good tyres gives one extra line of defense to keep me safe on the road.;))
You know, if you ride half a year in rain, better get prepared for it.;)) Thank you for the kind words!
Riding on the legal limit in dry is fine, but in the wet it can be tricky;))
Ride safe and keep up the lovely work!;))
This was a well thought out tire review. Thank you. Two suggestions: Include the scores for each category. Some times there may be 5 or 7 tires with similar scores and other times just one or three. Also, use mm for tread depth; it's easier to understand.
Thanks for the tips!
I saw at the end you had a freeway listing not sure if high speed long distance travel is what you meant or not
I know I’m a year late to this video but just watching it for first time now.
Great video btw!!!
Hello, thanks for watching and commenting. Take a look at the all the specs from our testing, that may help you decide. www.chapmoto.com/blog/motorcycle-gear-guides/adv-motorcycle-tires/
Just awesome as usual. Your tire loop with the range of tyres, and in-depth analysis, still put you as the guru of these reviews. Thank your for this awesome mega tire review !
Much appreciated! Thanks for the kind words. We appreciate you watching the video.
Hi Miguel, thanks for the compliment. Yeah road noise can be very bothersome for some people, you make a good point. Thanks for watching.
Amazing detailed adventure tire review that incorporated a mass of data collection and analysis. Well done!!!
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
Epic test and review, Kyle! Great job in distilling down all the myriad parameters involved. Even knowing about all of these - or rather being reminded of them - is a good heads-up to considering and making a decision about any tyres that one is confronted with in the local shops.
Glad you enjoyed it! Here's the write up we did with even more details: www.chapmoto.com/blog/motorcycle-gear-guides/adv-motorcycle-tires/
