There was a whole city of cat people living in the hold of Red Dwarf. Most of them are either dead or left the ship. Only the Cat and the Blind Priest were left at the time Lister came out of stasis.
Good reaction but I'm afraid you missed out a bit at the very end where Rimmer's voice is heard over the credits shouting "it's a garbage pod - IT'S A SMEGGING GARBAGE POD!" 😄😄😄
I know! I can’t believe I missed out on that! 😭 I’ll have to keep watching during the credits from now on…
@@MeganRuth Never skip the credits! Once in a while they have a good end credits gag. Red Dwarf blazing the trail for the MCU, but with a catchy song and shorter credits.
The first time I watched this episode was WAY back in the 90ies on PBS and THAT Credit Roll literally had me on the floor gasping for air! Just how the credits and music start normally then it all stops as Rimmer says. "Its a Garbage Pod!" then the music and credits continue for a time and then they stop again as Rimmer says, "Its a SMEGGING Garbage Pod!" was not seen on American TV anyway up till then. You expected when the show was over it WAS over!
@@Capohanf1 As a Brit I don't remember any end credits gags before this. Was this the first? Did Red Dwarf invent them?
@@benlee8436 I do NOT remember any "Strange" things in the ending credits of TV shows before this, most were just a word crawl over a still picture. About the only thing that came close was the Ending Credits of the Beverly Hillbillies where the credits would start on the house's front door and after a few seconds the door would open and the family would come out and wave to the audience BUT this happened EVERY episode and not as part of a specific episode.
I think the greater story here is that artificially intelligent appliances have been running on supervised for 4 million years and they're developing quirks.
Re: Rimmer being worried about quarantine despite being a Hologram - You've got to remember that Rimmer is a jobsworth & loves enforcing the rules because it makes him feel important, he's also a sm*ghead.
Ahh very true!
that "priest guy" was a cat person you even said yourself earlier on that there had to be more of them anyway good reaction
Have you seen the film Dogma ?
Another unexplained thing. Why are you putting *toast* in the toaster?
😂 good point!
You don't put toast in a toaster. You put bread in a toaster. 😂
actor who played lister started out as a spoken word poet....
in the early years, Craig Charles and Chris Barrie legitimately didn't get along (by Season/Series 5 they were buds). This is one of the episodes where the IRL tension gives the on screen tension that extra little edge, like in the bit where Rimmer first starts screaming about the Quagaars.
You should watch Dark Star.
RADA-trained Noel Coleman repeatedly struggled with the word 'slobbiness' throughout his scenes as the Cat Priest. To be fair, he probably hadn't come across it too often. I suspect he was more used to the works of Wilf Shakespeare.
I did a double take at that comment,"Noel Coward"?Well not quite.
He played a villain in Patrick Troughtons final Doctor Who story
@@markdavidson9100 18 years apart and he looked very little different.
Wilma Shakespeare
You will see "Cat" actor Danny John-Jules again if you get around to the brilliant series Death In Paradise!
Just realised I worded that wrong ment to say in regards toast I ment it to say simply get your partner to make it. As long as they can make very good toast. Love hot buttered toast with a mug of sweet tea
I can't wait till you get to Queeg. So looking forward to your reaction to that episode. 😎
I love that you are enjoying this series so much so early on. For me they didn't get really good until series 3 (some of series 2 was great as well)
I really I'm! But I am looking forward to watching more 😊
We tried talking to AI a long time ago in Red Dwarf, but humanity did not heed the warnings.
You have to remember that a lot of things you think are impossible are possible in Red Dwarf....as you will find out. When I say impossible, I mean impossible. 😁
Good to see that you really seemed to enjoy this episode. I really like it too. Apparently the writers aren't that keen on it. Well, I'm pretty sure Doug Naylor isn't. Not too sure on Rob Grant's take on it.
ah really? What I shame! I really enjoyed it :)
Ruth season 2 gets good, but season 3 onwards get's world class.
This is the first red dwarf episode i ever saw.
What if an alien is God?
You cut off with the credits too soon there was a funny bit you missed.
Simply get a partner. Nothing like hot battered toast with a big mug of tea. In the same as bangers mash peas a nd gravy.
is it so hard to put bread in a toaster lol thats beyond lazy
You have to go to the cupboard, take out the loaf, take off the little plastic tag if you can find the end. Then you have to take two slices out of the packet. Do up the tag again. Put the loaf back in the cupboard. Put the toast in the toaster. Press down the lever. Find a clean plate to put the toast on when it pops up from the toaster. Go to the fridge to get the butter out. Open the packet. Find a knife. Butter the toast. Make tea or coffee. Wash up everything afterwards. It really is a LOT of work. 🤣🤣😂😂
😂 It really is!
@@Poliss95 butter out of the fridge? - GL with that
😊😊😊😊😊❤
You're beautiful Megan
Series 1 & 2 of RD are my favorite. From series 3 onwards it becomes more action based and looks much better, but the first two series feature more of the Lister/Rimmer dynamic that I love, with the bunk scenes that provide some excelent character developments.
I agree about the bunk scenes! They’re such a dynamic duo 😊
@@MeganRuthCraig and Chris were also never friends initially, so their characters relationships work well too
Yep. The last few episode's have all the modern CGI gimmicks but the writing hasn't been very good. I do hear that Grant & Naylor have kissed and made up, so perhaps there's hope for the future? 😁
Grant and Naylor have agreed to share the rights to Red Dwarf, but I don't think they are ever going to work together again. They are being civil to each other now, but are no longer friends. Grant has stated that he intends to do a prequel to Red Dwarf, with some cameos from the original cast.
Well... If you like religious jokes there is no one better than Dave Allen.. Check out his religious Jokes.. First day at school.. Adam and Eve and much much more..
Thanks for the suggestion!
You are not sure about God BUT you believe in aliens. Could God be an Alien? And we his pets? Locked in a ship's hold, safe from the radiation that killed him? And I love the cat's god's name, Cloister the Stupid!
God could be an alien! I hadn't thought of that 🤔 I love his name, too! 😂
