Another great video! A lot of artists, including me, don't really know all of the mediums (i.e. tools) available for them to use. Sometimes it can be exhausting. Linseed oil, walnut oil, solvent free gel, liquin, galkyd gel, there are just so many things! And they are so expensive! And I don't have time to play with all of them.
In a perfect YT world - I would love to get sponsored so I can do videos on all these mediums to educate. That way I dont have to go broke buying them all ha ha ha.
Well you are in luck buddy. In February I will be doing some acrylic videos for the community. So make sure you tick the bell to know when those go live
what's the ratio for adding paint on top of black gesso? My crimson shows up right away and so bright when I put it on and gets pink right away when using the white
I *needed* this video! I cannot get my clouds right at all, they always end up mixing with the sky colour. I can't wait to try the gel, I hope I can get it, or something similar, in the UK! The paper towel trick is awesome! The blue roll is useful for so many things, especially in the garage. It's worth the extra cost compared to normal paper towels.
Yes that blue paper towelling would of kept me in painting in oils thanks wild I'm going to buy some more oil paints an canvasses an start painting again an create
Love the vidoe man ❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥pure fire....🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥......I just need a bit of help .. I am having problem with colour mixing to get the exact colour shade ....would really appreciate it ... Hope u will help
OH man that is a BIIIIGGGGGIIEEEE for sure.... would require a video ( just too much for text ). Let me see what I can do in a future video for you Kevin :)
This is awesome thanks… Anyhow, do you have any iota if there is a water soluble version of liquid clear that can be utilized by water soluble oil painters? Cheers
I got you! In this video I show you alternatives... one of them being water soluble. I link to the product in the video description: ua-cam.com/video/Bk44c1KuhrM/v-deo.html
@@WildCreates You are literally the only one that had a cogent response to this question lol!! Thanks!! I did hear that a ratio of linseed to Thinner of 5/1 was what’s in the Ross’s formula. Thoughts on trying this with Artisan mixable versions?
I try my best to help the community when I can. Can't hit all the comments sometimes ha ha ha. For the ratio... my best advice I can give is experiment and see what works best for you. Over the years I have heard so many different ratios and rumors... start with the 5/1 and test and see what needs to be refined.
I don't have a link for it just yet - BUT I will be making a video on it soon. BTH - I just get mine off amazon and my local art store. Look in the kids craft section!

2:17 Or what i truly recommadate is this video: Unveiling Bill Alexander's Expert Techniques Heres the link: ua-cam.com/video/TH9KorOieJc/v-deo.html There is explained: 1. Why on earth he rambles?? Btw, there is pretty good reason for this. 2. What is his secret not to get smudged paints.
Too much solvent will bre As a general rule it is wise to not add more than 20% or so -- from the gamblin website talking about there mediums, if you add too much theres no way to add more and can make the paint not stick to the canvas. 25% is too much for a second layer (last layer maybe) but as something you will potentially build on too much
Each manufacture is a little different.... Its a always good to check the back of the bottle or on the website for recommended ratios and maximum amounts allowed.
Remember make the worst painting and write the worst book, always put it down and then go back and edit later! It doesn't have to be perfect the first time!

Gamblin makes a medium sampler pack that has wonderfully informative enclosures.
That is a great suggestion.
I really should make a video on it and share it to people
Awesome video as always. Great info.
I love your long videos. It means I learn more. 😊 Thanks
Its great to hear that you like the longer videos.
I always get worried that people will get bored and check out fast ha ha ha
What the hack!! Thanks bro, its certainly very helpfull for me. Many loves from Turkey.

Lovely and informative, as always. I love cold wax medium.
If you think dating is tough now, try it when you are in your seventies!
I need to get back into cold wax.
Ha ha ha - It seems like dating at any age is a tough one 😂
At my age, men are looking for a nurse with a purse; i.e. someone to take care of them and help with expenses. I keep my MSN and RN license a secret.
Ha ha ha - Thats too good 😂
You are such a great artist!
Thank You Tama
I hope the rest of my videos help you out on your creative journey.
Blue shop towels are worth getting especially for painting. I don’t use them for anything else because they are more expensive.
They are great for anything dealing with oil.... like grease and automotive.
Just to give you option if you need a multi-tasking towel 💪
Thank YOU!!!!!
Super glad I could help you out
what's the ratio for adding paint on top of black gesso? My crimson shows up right away and so bright when I put it on and gets pink right away when using the white
There is no ratio because it depends on what effect you are going for. I would recommend testing on a space surface to see what works best for you.
I *needed* this video! I cannot get my clouds right at all, they always end up mixing with the sky colour. I can't wait to try the gel, I hope I can get it, or something similar, in the UK!

If you can't get the gel in your area. There are alternative that I mention in that other video I bump. Check that for a back up plan ❤
Thanks for the video Wild!!!
This has definitely helped me 😁
Glad to hear it!
Also here to help you on your creative journey
I also recommend holbien paint or gamblin 1980 paint!
I have not tried Holbien....
I will have to give it try, thanks for the recommendation.
