My first attempts at clouds were a muddy mess. So, Wild suggested I don't use so much liquid white when I base the canvas. I did that and then watched this video so many times that I could quote some of the dialogue. I'm sitting at the easel a week later practicing clouds, thinking they're not that good, my highlights are lousy, I've wasted way too much money on Bob Ross gear, and this may be hopeless......then my wife walks by and exclaims, "Wow! Those are great clouds!". She didn't want any of them covered up in the painting. My wife is a very compassionate person, but she doesn't give away complements w/o them being deserving. In the initial stages of learning anything, there's always many mistakes & results that we're not happy with. However, I've been repeatedly watching Wild's videos as I'm attempting to learn wet-on-wet painting (I even have the Bob Ross 3hr training course). I will say this, Wild, - you're a fantastic teacher. Please keep the videos coming. (...and no, Folks, I don't know Wild personally, I'm not a paid endorser of Wild, and I'm not paying off any kind of debt I owe Wild, etc. I just am getting something worthwhile from the videos).
We are always critical of ourselves ( which I think is a good thing ha ha ha) BUT you are doing it right buddy. Keep painting and learning from your mistakes. Next weeks clouds will be better than this weeks and the week after that and so on and so on. Stick with it and you will nail it. WOW!!! A "teacher painter" I have searched UA-cam for how to paint... You do it best! Details abound Hand, arm, the brush all the details a beginner needs to consider and learn. I will be watching all your videos for more details, thanks! Only suggestion I can think of is some camera angles I can't see what the hand is doing with the brush, if camera in closeup is shot from other shoulder reveal would be better.
Glad I can help you out. I am trying to find a better way to show everything. I think when I get some more funds I will get a 2nd camera to help out for when my hand and wrist block some things.
Your tutorials are inspiring, education and very easy to put in practice. Thank you very much for making painting cloud so easy and interesting. I couldn't paint clouds until I watch your educational tutorial.
This is really useful advice! Bob Ross' videos are great and show how to do a complete painting with all the basic techniques, but there isn't a lot of detail and it can be disheartening when it doesn't quite work and you're not sure why - this video helped me go from slightly brighter areas of blue in my sky to very distinct clouds!! Still need to work on their shape, but they're miles better! Thank you :)
Yeah - Kinda the reason I made the video... Wanted to help dive more into the sections that get glossed over. Glad I could help you out and thanks for watching :) Happy painting!
@@WildCreates Well I can see a clear improvement between my first Bob Ross only painting, and the one I've done since with guidance from your videos and similar UA-camrs. Happy painting to you too!
Thanks for this video. I recently started wet on wet landscape oil painting coming from sketching pencil portraits. As an amateur I went and bought economical paints and brushes, and was struggling to get the colors stick on top of other colors (sky and floral, very frustrating), I thought perhaps it was the lack of talent lol, but there seems to be some hope after watching your videos. I am going to retry with Bob Ross paints and will definitely update you on how that experiments goes. Wonderful tips in the video!!! As a side note, I am going to see if you have a detailed video on what brush types to use for this technique (perhaps it matters perhaps it does not).
I am sure if you try the BR wet on wet style.... You will nail it :) I dont have a in-depth video on brushes just yet. But if I were you I would invest in the BR Master Paint Set, It will mostly come with everything you need to get started. You can check out a video I did on it here ( ua-cam.com/video/5sNyjCcsBdI/v-deo.html ) Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Thanks ... this is very helpful. I just started painting after pencil drawing and colored pencils. It's necesary to slow down!!

Can you use acrylics same as oil?
If you want to use acrylics like oils. You will need to use open acrylic paints.

I think I show that in a few past videos already BUT I will see what I can do in a future video for ya.

do you have the t-shirts you are wearing for sale?
I have problems with sunsets, where the sky turns a bit green using Bob Ross style wet-on-wet. Any tips for combatting that?
Thats because you are blending to much yellow into blue tones... Leave a nice barrier between the two and you wont have that happen any more.
