    My first attempts at clouds were a muddy mess. So, Wild suggested I don't use so much liquid white when I base the canvas. I did that and then watched this video so many times that I could quote some of the dialogue. I'm sitting at the easel a week later practicing clouds, thinking they're not that good, my highlights are lousy, I've wasted way too much money on Bob Ross gear, and this may be hopeless......then my wife walks by and exclaims, "Wow! Those are great clouds!". She didn't want any of them covered up in the painting. My wife is a very compassionate person, but she doesn't give away complements w/o them being deserving. In the initial stages of learning anything, there's always many mistakes & results that we're not happy with. However, I've been repeatedly watching Wild's videos as I'm attempting to learn wet-on-wet painting (I even have the Bob Ross 3hr training course). I will say this, Wild, - you're a fantastic teacher. Please keep the videos coming. (...and no, Folks, I don't know Wild personally, I'm not a paid endorser of Wild, and I'm not paying off any kind of debt I owe Wild, etc. I just am getting something worthwhile from the videos).

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  3 роки тому

      We are always critical of ourselves ( which I think is a good thing ha ha ha) BUT you are doing it right buddy. Keep painting and learning from your mistakes. Next weeks clouds will be better than this weeks and the week after that and so on and so on.
      Stick with it and you will nail it.
      Rome wasn't built in a day nor will your Bob Ross Wet on Wet Adventures be accomplished in one day 😜

I will be watching all your videos for more details, thanks! This is really useful advice! Bob Ross' videos are great and show how to do a complete painting with all the basic techniques, but there isn't a lot of detail and it can be disheartening when it doesn't quite work and you're not sure why - this video helped me go from slightly brighter areas of blue in my sky to very distinct clouds!! Still need to work on their shape, but they're miles better! Thank you :)

    Thanks for this video. I recently started wet on wet landscape oil painting coming from sketching pencil portraits. As an amateur I went and bought economical paints and brushes, and was struggling to get the colors stick on top of other colors (sky and floral, very frustrating), I thought perhaps it was the lack of talent lol, but there seems to be some hope after watching your videos. I am going to retry with Bob Ross paints and will definitely update you on how that experiments goes. Wonderful tips in the video!!!
    As a side note, I am going to see if you have a detailed video on what brush types to use for this technique (perhaps it matters perhaps it does not).

    Do you use a dry brush when blending clouds? What if have few brushes and had to wash them. Amazing video, started today and have to restart from beginning. Paint just won't leave the brush. I'm afraid it's because of too much liquid white, or too thin since I made it myself

    Do we get different clouds or something here in the UK? I've watched plenty in all seasons, but never yet seen real clouds in pure white (or pink, purple etc)! Not talking rain clouds here, but even fluffy white summer clouds always seem to deepen to a heavier gray or something, Wild. Only fluffy white around the forward edges, following the wind path, but "deeper" or "Heavier" along the bottom. So it's always bugged me that Bob Ross always blends clouds into the blue sky. Any ideas how to make fluffy white clouds a little thicker like I describe, Wild? Many thank. Alan.

      There is no right answer when it comes to clouds - You can make them however you want. If you want bold pure white clouds. Just add more layers on top of the clouds you painted and PERFECTION.

    Will this technique work will acrylic paint too?

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  4 роки тому +1

      It can BUT you will either have to work really fast before your paint can dry or add mediums to acrylics so they have a slow dry effect.

    • @WildCreates

      I will have to make a video on this one day. BUT covering your paintings but using a a giant cardboard box or plastic tube with some small holes in it works great

    Grrrrr I just can't seem to get the bottom fluff thing down, rubbing the bottom of the clouds around in circles just smears it, especially when I am making dark clouds. Thoughts?

      The nice thing about oil paint is you can just scrap it off, re-blend and start all over again.
