    As always, thanks for this. It just reinforces everything that I have learned (a lot of it from you!). I think we all expect to progress much faster than we do, but the journey is the fun part, even though it can be frustrating at times. One thing that I haven't done yet is pick up the varnish. My uncle is a professional colored pencil artist and he was asking me about that last night. Guess I need to get off my tail and pick some up.

      100% on point with this. If you are at the step of making art you like or enjoy giving some away.... Now is the time to move into varnishing. No joke my last video on varnishing is a great place to start. Get a nice spray can and go to town. :)

    The affordable but not bargain basement cheap route is highly recommended. Winton and 1980 series paints are all that anyone needs.
    I also agree with the BR Master Set recommendation. You're kind of wasting money using expensive paints for wet on wet oil painting. Good video.

    If you get lumpy, half-dried acrylics, you can use them for texture either at the color they are or to paint over once they dry. Don't know if the same can be said for oils though.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  Рік тому +1

      Very true and good tip. Thanks for sharing. Also be aware that the half dried paint may have weak paint adhesion and can be prone to chipping and cracking when dried.

    Thank you for all these videos!! Do you think you could do a tutorial on tips and tricks to set up your "painting station"? It never really shows what Bob Ross has in front of him exactly other than a garbage can and brush cleaner. What do you keep around your easel while painting? Tables set up with certain things? I'm looking to set up a more permanent station. Great videos

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  Рік тому

      I think that is a good idea. I will add it to the list of videos to do. I know it wont answer your question BUT I think in my easel review video, I do show how I set up my brushes and colors on my shelf.
      Maybe that will help ya until I make this video. I will attach it below:

    Very informative!! One thing I’d like to know about tho that wasn’t addressed is saving paint from the pallet. I end up tossing out great paint. I’d like to at a minimum is make a mountain/tree mix with my extra paint. What to do? 🤔

    I bought all my paints, brushes, medium, that whit goop coating, some canvases, panels, even a pad of canvas paper. Turns out, I didn't like it. At all. It took forever to dry and the linseed oil smell was a turn off. (I have water soluble oils, by the way). Well, I have pulled my supplies out of the closet and I'm back, but this time I'm going to try painting something incredibly, incredibly easy, not a pasture with a sky and mountains like I did (which is probably still wet.). Before I do, I just have a question. How can I practice painting without burning through canvases and panels? I wish they grew on trees, but they don't. That pad went into the garbage so fast. It was horrible. Thank you for reading.

    • @WildCreates

      Its always best to paint nice and simple this way you build confidence. My best hack for practice is buy a bottle of white gesso then gesso cardboard and practice on that. Its cheap and easy. Amazon boxes for the win :)

    Have an oil painting that I never finished. Put Bob Ross liquid clear on it, tried to paint over it but my oils won't stick to it. Try to wipe some of the liquid clear off, my shop rag just shredded all over it. What 😮 can I do to get the liquid clear off because it's sticky. The shop towel sticks to it, but not the next layer of oil paints?

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  5 місяців тому +1

      Ok hard to answer without seeing the painting BUT try this.... pick off any shop towel remnants and Let the LC dry completely ( 1 to 3 weeks - Work on something else in the mean time... something simple 😁)
      Once dry, you can cover it again with a very thing coat of LC. Now you can start painting with oil again. Just to let you know... your paint may separate a little or not glide as much on the canvas, due to the last LC layer you added. So I would consider this more or less a practice canvas now.
      I hope that helps.

    Bill Alexander had an item that he called a “splatter box. I can’t find anything about it anywhere. Do you have any information about that. I would so appreciate any info. Looks like I may have to build one.
    Also there is an item that you can put on your hands to get paint off easier.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  Рік тому

      It was most likely custom built, perhaps out of an apple box. If you can find me an episode or two with him using it. I am sure I can show us all how to build one.
