    I'm a Artist and been through Art Academy, and I do Oil Paintings in different styles and done "Bob Ross" wet on wet and it was so easy if you know what your doing wet on wet, the only thing I do different in my Painting I never use the mixing knife on the canvas, I think it's the younger generation want to rush through a Oil Paintings that you can't.....

      Perhaps BUT I think of a palette knife as just another tool. And nothing wrong with having the right tool for the job :)

    Thanks! I am very new to painting and I found your channel after ruining a seascape. I have a feeling that wasn’t the best painting to try on my second time. I had to start over. I don’t think i put enough liquid white and clear because it was very hard to blend from the get go. The first one I did okay with in that regard. Anyway, i love your videos! thanks for the help, it encourages me to continue.

      Thanks for the Love & I am glad that you found me too and that I can come in clutch for you and your painting adventures.
      Sounds like you need to add a layer of gesso or a little more Liquid White or Clear to your canvas like I said in the video... It will really help with the blending of colors.
      I have two videos that might help you even more. I will link them below if you are interested:

    I keep hearing A thin paint sticks to a thick paint. If you’re starting with a wet canvas how are you supposed to get thick paint to stick to it? It contradicts itself.
    What am I missing? I’m ready to chuck this oil and go back to acrylic

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  2 місяці тому

      Its very confusing - Don't use those terms any more and think about it this way. A flexible or workable paint will stick on top of a firm or dryish paint.
      I plan on making a full in-depth video on this so be sure to hit that SSUB button

    100% Not photoshopped 😂😂😂 The biggest issue I have is putting on highlights..I tend to cover up too much of the dark. Your list is spot on, especially the part about slowing down. I’ve been guilty of this! Thanks again for another very useful, helpful video!

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah - Highlights can get away from ya real quick. Its tough butt if you can do what Bob says and just do one highlight at a time it helps. But even more... if you can do 1highlight stop and look at it from like 2/4 feet away. It will have you stop adding too many highlights

    Do you put gesso on every canvas before applying liquid white? Great video. Thank you.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  2 роки тому +1

      When you buy more expensive canvases you might not have to add that extra layer of gesso ( because the coating might be good enough already ). But like I say in the video if you are buying cheaper canvases, I would recommend adding additional layers of gesso. And Yes, You apply gesso ( let it dry ) then apply your liquid white base.

    Your videos have been so helpful!. Question about reusing a canvas. After I scrape off the oil paint should I apply a coat of gesso or just reapply the magic white? Thanks!!

    I’ve recently also given it a try and my biggest problem is, that highlights in those dark clouds just become one with the dark color and make it a grey mess.
    I guess that also falls under using too little color for the highlight areas 😅

    How do you re-hydrate canvas while taking my time? Some has dried in patches and another set for a week.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  Рік тому +1

      Just add some liquid medium to the section you want to re-wet & start blending from there. You might have to do a little more layers to hide where you re-started BUT thats about it.

    Hi Wild, I had used too little liquid white and after my painting is done I see splotchy oily spots in a certain light when I tilt it . will it dissipate when it dries completely? Yikes!!

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  2 роки тому

      Sadly No.... It may minimize a tad BUT since you know its there... you will always see it (thats just the critiquing artist in you ha ha ha ). HOWEVER, I got you! This wont fix it but it will help even out everything.
      When the painting is completely dry add a coat of spray varnish to it. This will really help!!! Plus its easy to do too. I have a video on it below. Check it out.

      hard to say with out knowing how thick a coat you put on BUT generally 15 to 20 mins and you are good ( weather can also play a factor too )

      absolutely agree with you Gary!! Bill was the master, bob was just a thief and poser.. If you watch many of Bill's tutorials, he will show you everything you need to know. No need to go anywhere else and if you look at Bill's pallette he doesn't need a lot of paint as suggested here.. (BTW I did learn a good trick from Kevin, blotting the canvas to soak up extra oil if you have a lot of paint on.. use blue shop towels not paper towels this minimizes mud if you start painting yourself into that corner)
