Do: Compliment cosplayers if you can bare minimum tell who they are supposed to be. Don't: Get on a cosplayers case if they are not perfectly cosplaying the character in question. ie: someone dresses like Margaret from Persona 4 and does not have the golden contacts. Don't proceed to pester them about not having gold eyes. Contacts are expensive for some people, and colored contacts for prescription users can be veeeeeery costly. If you can recognize the character, who cares if it's casual or not perfect.
As someone who cosplays and can’t wear contacts thank you! Because I’ve been told I don’t match the character bc my eyes, I have blue eyes which are sensitive and I can’t wear contacts sadly and if I could I would lol
Here are some more don'ts: - Don't gossip badly about a cosplayer and don't say it to their face, they worked extremely hard (most of the time) on their cosplay and spent a lot of money on it, be respectful of their work! - always ask and communicate what you want in a photo of them. If they are wearing something like armor or fragile pieces, always ask if you can touch them - dont hover hand please... - do not take a picture of a cosplayer while someone else is taking one, especially when they are doing a professional shoot. It will probably look terrible and the cosplayer might be distracted by you and look disgusted at you even while you take the picture. Always ask. - If the area is conjested, please ask the cosplayer for a photo and to move to another spot for it. Do not stop moving traffic for a "quick photo" and do it in an empty area. - Accept that you may be turned down for photos. Some people are in a rush to make it to a panel, autograph signing, or shoot. Do not take it personally, you may see them another time during the con especially if its small. - COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT. Im sorry but you cant just go up to someone and hug them or attack them. They arent their character. It is still ok to treat them and talk to them like they are (as long as you make it clear by addressing them by their characters name so its not awkward and rude). Some cosplayers can do a perfect impression, some just dont want to. Be prepared for either response. Just remember at cons even though sometimes you do not feel like it, these people are strangers and do not know you. Treat them with manners and they may become your friend. c:
Any way Yesterday I was At CF2018 KLCC and I saw a people cosplaying skt t1 zed and I ask him can we take a pic and he says few words I can't hear clearly coz too crowded and he walk away abit and stand there and look around while I walk away thought he don't want but I few like he is saying wait till I find a place and like this I missed one of my best pic moments as this is my first time.I haven growth to adult yet and still teen so I am very shy and easily misunderstood coz I dun dare to ask him again scared he scould me.TT And the another day I was doing a quick 5 day project and it's just some parts have of my own mixture cosplay and it's paper work with cardboard and at some place I heard laugh after I went trough some. But thx anyway for ur tips.
@@draptorlegacy0264 considering the amount of vlogs I've seen, I'm sure it's fine to record the convention unless there's explicit rules against it- which I've never seen before. I mean, if you want to record someone I would do the same thing with pictures and ask first of course, but if you're planning on doing a vlog featuring mostly yourself or just views of the convention as a whole I think you're fine.
one of the do's is a dont for me tbh, that would be the hugs, dont get me wrong im not against it but often times im in a delicate cosplay with lots of detail especially around the torso/neck etc, also some of my cosplays have sharp points of worbla and id hate for someone to hurt themselves on me. One more point is after a long day at a con for anyone but introverted people in particular its really draining and physical contact may be too much for you, a good rule of thumb i like to tell people is if it involves contact with the cosplay or cosplayer ask first, "hey i really love your character is it okay if i give you a hug?" "sorry the cosplay is a little fragile but we can still have some photos together!" is a much better scenario than the cosplayer getting upset because you destroyed their work. Tangent over, have a nice day c:
totally get where you're coming from. in that case i've also used the "air hug" as a substitute (i.e. lifting up your arms and just lightly bending your wrists twice lool)
The part about no pictures while they're eating/drinking, it should be fine if it's your friends right? Trying to catch wierd looks from them lol Great video by the way. I'm just starting to make videos like this at geek conventions. Where do you get your confidence? And how do you get some of the cosplayers to play along with your skit? Lastly, it's great that you're sending this message out there for people that don't know the etiquette at cons, especially around cosplayers.
Here's a do and don't: *Do* overly plan your Cosplay. Sketch it, brainstorm it, list everything you need for it...even if it's a whole year in advance (cough cough _totally not like me_ cough) *Don't* make a cosplay last minute, especially if it requires fabrication and/or appliances. If your cosplaying, say, an Animatronic, spend at _least_ two months working on it since you have to build an entire suit head-to-toe. If it's still a human cosplay, less time is needed but still, _don't procrastinate_
And the another day I was doing a quick 5 day project and it's just some parts have of my own mixture cosplay and it's paper work with cardboard and at some place I heard laugh after I went trough some.

Feel free to cosplay whatever you want really! OC character or non anime because there's always so many ppl at cons that just wanna debut a costume they love. You'll definitely see ppl doing the same!
too funny. I am going to my first anime con this year. thanks for the info. been to comic cons and a steam punk fair, but not so many cute anime characters. ;)

I was a don't at a con. Me and my friend were at Otakon and I saw this cute strawberry Miku cosplayer (the 15th anniversary one). I went up to her and said, "Hi, I love your cosplay!". She said thank you, and when I asked to take a picture with her, she said, "Oh, I'm sorry, I have to get to a photoshoot. Maybe if you see me again!". I said, "That's okay!", even though I felt crushed by her statement, though she wasn't trying to be mean. I knew her Instagram, so I did something that I shouldn't have done. At the masquerade, I saw her, and I was like, "I found you!". I got the picture with her and she looked okay with it, but I still felt really bad for what I did. It was an, "I've won, but at what cost?" moment. I've been thinking of apologizing to her about my behavior, but I don't know. Cosplayers already go through enough shit, and I feel terrible for being one of the reasons. Even though this cosplayer in question didn't openly state she was uncomfortable with me, I still feel like she is; she just doesn't want to hurt my feelings. And I don't deserve her forgiveness because these cosplayers try so hard to do what they do. So um... yeah. I feel like I should apologize, but I don't know.
big don’t: if people are cosplaying a ship, don’t force them to act like they’re in a relationship if they’re not okay. this’d probably happen with like major anime ships tbh
People just running up and taking pictures when someone else already is is so annoying. I always feel like yelling after them to run faster for some reason... If you can't ask, put the phone away and don't bother. Also the abrupt and too close-for-comfort approaches... I can't deal with them unless the person is my friend, especially after I got PTSD. So people, please do not jump on others.
Not to be mean, but don't be 300 pounds and wear a bikini with a fishnet jumper around it :( and don't be overly dramatic and loud with no reason. Shouting at other cosplayers and thinking it's cool is a huge annoyance.
Very much! Also, make sure to recognize if someone is in a group and don't try to invade it. Some people at conventions like to just hang out with friends. =)

I'm new to cosplaying so this content helps alot
It depends on the cosplayer, but I wouldn’t recommend just hugging one. Some cosplays are fragile pr have small pieces, so make sure you ask before!
late comm but it was funny to watch I like how you put it in action, especially the hug at the final!
Nice editing, music and camera work! THIS WAS SO FUN! Hope you do another one like it. See you soon!
Thaank yooou for being my awesome con buddy! haha Sakura con? LOL
Thanks for asking us to film, it was hilarious, not to mention really fun! You should have put in all those bloopers that we took. I want to see Shawna with her gun hahah so funny!
haha no problem! thanks for being in it! soon enough :P

I’m also very noobie at this but I feel as your fine to go in a fur suit I mean people cosplay as their ocs right? So I think you are able to :)
ThatGuyYouKnowww Don't: Act like the character you're cosplaying and try to fight others xD
***** yes! i can't count how many times people tried to smack me with wooden swords lol
ThatGuyYouKnowww can we be like the guy from Kakashi Mission Los Angeles?
Cool video. Thanks for the advice.
no probs! ;)
thank you! This was helpful and so funny xD ! I am going to Cosplay this year I am so excited and nervous
and throw as many cosplayers over that ledge and give them a splash bomb! every Yu-Gi-Oh you take out you get a step closer to immortality.

I'm going to comicon soon and this was really helpful 🖒👌
Making a video
Do: use music
Don't: use overused whistle music because it does everyone's fucking heads in
LOL you're not wrong :P heard it to death
Life Hacks
That music is just fucking annoying because it's overused... 😩
