I was just gonna say that! cause when you do a cosplay thats a bit tight down there it can look weird and be uncomfortable but they toltlaly help and they are usually pretty cheap.
When I record my voice I sound like a boy but irl I sound like a normal girl and I look cute and cameras make me *ugly ugly ugly* (CAMERAS HATE ME TOO)
*isnt a cosplayer* I will literally do all of this from now on. Have I worn a dress in the last three years? No. Will I do it now with my skater tights? Heck yes.
Women have periods it is just a thing you do in the bathroom just like most people don't like talking about pooping all the time. Sometimes we are just gross humans.
My best hack is to sew hidden pockets into costumes, if possible. I carry a con bag, but I always add pockets for my wallet and phone (plus additional ones for any small/medium props) so I can have them quicker than digging in a bag. (The more pieces a costume has, the easier it is to hide pockets.)
I have cosplay tips!! Wearing foundation or concealer on your lips before applying your lipstick will help keep it on. If you cosplay someone with tattoos or skin markings you can buy tattoo paper! Design what you need on a computer and print it off and you have the right tattoos or markings with no need to draw on yourself XD My last tip I can think of, if you find the perfect shoe for a cosplay but it's too big if you can get away with it just layer socks on your feet until the shoe fits... Just some things I've learned XD
Danielle Oliver you can also put tattoos on dance tights if you don’t mind not reusing them for big leg tattoos. You can dye them also, however, look for the appropriate dye (mixed with acid or similar) for nylon material.
If you can’t afford a bodysuit which can be really expensive, I suggest buying a leotard and leggings. A leotard is what gymnast use. I had put together a chat noir cosplay a couple years ago and instead of paying $40-60 for a bodysuit I spent $25 on a leotard and leggings that matched the same colour black.
I bought a skin suit and cut the head off and hemmed it then painted it with black acrylic paint. Then I glued flats to the bottom with E 6000. That's how I made a ladybug jump suit for roughly $50.00 www.deviantart.com/badlittleboy16/art/Ladybug-Cosplay-792139568
Amusing pantyliner usage in cosplay - big, manly Klingon warriors will often have one under their forehead prosthesis to deal with obvious sweating problems ^.~
I'm pretty sure everyone knows this already. This is more of a packing for conventions hack. Roll your cosplays instead of folding them not only will it save space in your suite case but there is less of a chance of causing them to wrinkle.
a tip i've heard so you have more room in your suitecase coming baCK from the con: fold your clothes on the way there, and roll them on the way back. that way, you now have room for stuff you bought, and you can also distinguish whats clean and dirty if you didnt wear everything. (clean ones keep folded.)
i do this for performances too as i am and have been a dancer for going on seven years and travelling with costumes is much easier when theyre rolled up in a gym bag. im not sure if you could do this with styled wigs though, so could you suggest how to pack those please?
@@furrybabbit350 What I've done is I leave the wig on the wig head and put a plastic bag over it and putting in a box. That's what I've done in the past and it worked for me.
An alternative to panty liners: something I use a lot is the Axilla-shield underarm sweat pads. You get a full coverage and they come shaped to fit regular sleeve sizes - so you won't have to cut them to size or layer them like liners to get the right fit. They're also thicker than some of the cheaper panty lines I've come across. :)
I used to Irish dance and it still surprises me that the cosplay community hasn’t fully embraced sock glue. In Irish dance you have to keep up your socks so you have like special glue to stick them to your legs and keeps it up all day and doesn’t hurt much to take off and works perfect with cosplay socks. So if you really don’t want tights or need like even gloves to stay in place on your arms it works for that too.
one from meeeee when i cosplayed uraraka from bnha for halloween, i was afraid of being cold (i was specifically cosplaying her sports festival outfit), so i cut a pair of pantyhose at the crotch and basically wore them as a shirt under the tank top! it sounds rlly weird but it helped a lot aha
Any tips for not getting a breeze to lift your skirt when your toga- I mean I hate the boys in my class- You wear a cosplay with a skirt for the Halloween costume day and you get wolf whistles all around- I swear they’re worse than the grapist.
Also, I'm just saying, from when I did my Harley Quinn cosplay, my tights were like, skin-tight Slightly padded liners can help you avoid cameltoe in photos :) I thought of the skin-coloured tights thing a looong time but not so much for cosplay, but just that my legs are so goddamn white compared to the rest of me. And I have various scars from scrapes and falls over the years that are just unflattering. So I invested in a few pairs for when I wore shorts and skirts.
I use very thin cloth pads, they feel better than liners and you don't have to worry about them unsticking if you end up in a hot venue where you end up sweating a lot!
same, though im just really tan, and i have some wack thingy that I get bumps on my arms and legs, so its really.. really ew for me. sorry for being late doe
awesome video! lots of great tips and some i didn't even know about haha A hack that worked for me is if you're ever doing an EVA foam armor cosplay....use the extra foam to make a hidden pocket for your phone/wallet 👌👌👌
Professional costume designers use the pad hack! I studied costume design and I always asked designers I worked with and most knew/used them. it really helps sometimes!
If you have naturally dark hair (Like me) Then shaving just enough of your sideburns to meet the wig cap line will assist with lighter wig cosplays. I did it for Vic(k)tor from Yuri!!! on Ice, and it worked well. I just used eyeshadow that matched the wig to cover the shaved sides of my head, and no one noticed i shaves anything. I suggest giving that a shot.
@@gachaartpotato9972 i'd say just cover them in white makeup of some kind and then a matching foundation for your skin. then use eyeshadow that matches the wig. I hope that works for you
@@gachaartpotato9972 I'm the type of person that goes all the way in either situation so i just do the same thing. Not much help im sorry. I'd suggest experimenting and seeing what works. Have fun
Cosplay hack: If your stockings are running a lot in the lower area of your leg, first spray them with hairspray to stop the run, then sew your thigh high socks to the stockings to both keep them up and always have stockings when you wear those particular socks. I like to wear thigh high socks out of cosplay as well, so I have a pair of stockings that are basically tights as well, and I've found it a very easy way to keep your stockings a while longer. When you sew it, though, handsew it. It'll show less, be easier to do, and if the stockings continue to run above the socks, the handsewing stitches are easier to remove. I hope this little comment helped a little ^-^
I know I'm 7 months late to this party, but just wanted to pop in to tell anyone else reading this late, you can also use clear nail polish or clear top coat polish to stop a run in your nylons. In my experience, it works better than hairspray.
if you have dark colored eyebrows and can’t find anything to color your eyebrows to match the wig, put a color pencil in warm water until it’s soft enough to draw on skin. then CAREFULLY draw on your eyebrows.
This is definitely not a good tip. These are not meant to go on skin. Just buy a cheap eyebrow pencil at the drug store for like $3. Theres gonna be a color to match. At the very least, use eyeshadow. Dont use colored pencil
I used to do Irish step dancing, and we would get this roll on glue stuff for people who cat where socks with elastic in them to keep our socks up. I assume it would work with any knee high or thigh high socks too.
I’m going to use these hacks! Here’s some of mine: If you have a character with blood all over them, put fake blood all over yourself and not just your face. If you’re worried about your cosplay getting ruined, you putting blood on it will probably just enhance the resemblance of that character. If you use the cosplay for more than one character then maybe just add a LITTLE blood on your hands and face, maybe a little on other exposed skin. I don’t know why, with fake blood I say a little or ALL. Here’s another one, if you have a colorful wig, it’s not really a problem with natural colored wigs, then fill in your eyebrows the color as the wig. You don’t need anything fancy, some eye shadow will work. If you can’t find the exact color then a variation will work. If you have thicker, dark eyebrows then you can get away with a darker and probably warmer toned wig without doing something to your eyebrows. If you have thinner, lighter brows like me, filling them in will really enhance how your cosplay looks. Especially in pictures. I swear I have more photos of myself with drowned out eyebrows than I do nicer looking pictures. It just helps. :3 Also, here’s a tip for anyone doing a non-canon character. Like from an AU, ex-Reverse Falls. Then mess around with the design absolutely insanely! You don’t even have to go off fanart unless you want to. That’s why my Reverse Mabel is my favorite cosplay apart from one that I do atm. In most fanart you see (this isn’t critique at all) her with brown hair. Well, I mixed it up and gave mine white hair like Gideon (one of her inverses.) Just mess around with it! There was mine, 💜💟
so, do you have anything to say to people with thick dark brows about covering them cause like, just telling people to stick to wigs/characters with their already natural hair color kinda takes the fun out of dressing up
Rayne Blackwater I know it does and I think I remembered one now. I’m not a professional cosplayer, they were just my own tips. I’m really sorry I couldn’t give you a tip of my own before but here’s one that may work. There’s this hack to put translucent powder on your brows and a layer of washable school gluestick until your eyebrows are lighter. Then put your shade of concealer on top so you can more easily draw them on. Again, I’ve tried on my light brows and it works and I have seen it work on darker brows but everyone’s different. You could probably look up tips on this from more qualified people. I’m navigating the cosplay world like everyone else 😅 hope it helped some!
Ballet tights are awesome for the same reason, they make them with convertible feet so you can make them footless if you need while being thin and moveable enough to wear socks over if you need. They also covered all the bruises on my legs from my job 👌
They run super easily though! As a dancer who has worn these most days of the week they run so so so so SO easily. I wouldn't wear them with a cosplay that has anything that can catch on the tights
+StarSailorMars If they haven’t transitioned yet, they still get periods. Lots of trans men still have periods their whole lives because they don’t want to have testosterone shots. And that’s okay. Some people are okay with just outwardly being their gender, without having surgery or meds.
@@コノハさん you ever heard of something called pre-t?? it's genrally younger trans guys who aren't on t for various reasons, like being closeted, or your parents don't accept you, or parents not wanting them to start t. there's a lot of reasons why a trans guy wouldn't be on t. just depends from person to person
@@iamsimplythebest7440 Even with testosterone, many trans men still get their cycles. The only way to full prevent it is by going through surgery to remove the uterus.
She could've just said women though...testerone and all that shit makes you infertile and so no periods. Also birth control. Nonbinary people ARE either men or women. Just the scientific sex. So saying women would have been find.
I'm just smiling when you're talking about how cosplayers don't think about which cosplays in relation to weather. I was considering the fact that I was just doing the opposite. :)
I may get a pair of skating tights for my silent hill nurse cosplay! I'm not too comfortable with how short I need the dress to be so the skating tights shohuld help. Thank you so much!
Oh my god you just saved my life. Wig clips! Why didn't i think of that!? You probably don't know Judal from magi, he's god huge hair and my wig is enormous and super heavy but this might just work. Bless you! And happy new year, by the way :*
I'm literally sewing wig clips into a wig while watching this!!! I get mine from Sally's (any beauty store or wig store should have them) in 12 packs for around $3. I love skating tights! I also suggest dance tights, they're super durable, cheap, come in TONS of colors, and you can get convertible ones that you can pull off your feet to walk barefoot without ruining your tights.
I love wig clips! My first Hatusne Miku wig was really cheap and I did the pigtails myself so it kept falling down. I used 3, two in front, one in back, and now I do that with most of my long wigs. They're really cheap on ebay and the exact same quality as getting them at a beauty store.
This video was actually super useful, it's amazing how many things you can miss even over a few years of on and off cosplay (though I'm not so sure how comfortable tights would be to us guys) -- would you consider doing a makeup for beginners video? That would be crazy useful for those of us who've never learnt makeup and are left a bit stumped on what to do (like myself) edit: also- yes! we should normalise periods, I'm sick of seeing people ashamed of what their bodies naturally do
Questionably Hollow Since I'm not comfortable showing my natural appearance in videos, makeup tutorials aren't something I'd be able to easily do unfortunately. However there are many beginner makeup tutorials out there already -- for example MangoSirene has a beginner cosplay makeup tutorial on her channel that's quite good.
I would suggest using BB cream as a starting point. It does several things at once and I use it for cosplays that require super smooth or lighter skin than my own.
tbh, regarding the tights - I can also recommend investing in light compression tights I work for a company that sells them, they look just like any other tights, but boy howdy, considering you are up 90% of the time, your legs will be dying by the time you get to lay down! Compression tights help with swelling and tiredness (mind you I do mean Prophylactic or Compression Class 1 coz that is the lighter compression, and on CCL2 you might need to discuss it with a doc) so your legs will feel less dead! My boss legit wears our produce herself, and believe you me she works part time in a skating rink for a hokey league - she cant stop praising the tights.
This video is so helpful. I didnt known the while panty liner to help with sweat. Omgosh that would have been helpful last year but I cant wait to try it out this year for my Ladybug cosplay!!!
I wear a lot of full-face masks, and I think slapping some panty liners on the inside of the mask might help absorb some of the sweat that builds up on my forehead and stuff. Wild.
I love how she used people instead of girl when talking about periods 💗 my big brother is ftm and it makes me happy when ppl add the fact that a lot of pre-T males go through the same things 💕
Tip for beginners: If it's your first time wearing contacts, I highly suggest doing it before makeup and maybe waking up an hour early. On my second con, I decided to wear contacts for the first time. It looked easy so I woke up at 7 and did my makeup first so I could finish by 10am. Turns out it was really hard and all my makeup was washing off because of my tears. I ended up going to the con around 1pm without having lunch at all.
There is nothing inclusive about pretending that all humans are equally likely to get their period. Biological, healthy female human beings with normal body functions get their period. And biology does not give a crap about your personal identity. The whole part was just irritating to listen to.
SomeSeal ??? but if you have the parts that biologically can make you get a period, you can get a period, no one ever said anything about every human or someone who doesn't have the biology to be capable of getting a period, she just said the word 'person' instead of 'female' because there are some gnc and trans peeps who have the bits to get a period, but none of us identify as female so we tend to feel left out of these types of conversations, so we simply just appreciated it because its not something that happens often
Wig clips are the best!!! I have been using them for years an every new wig i get i put them in straight away 😊 i have a Sailor Pluto wig an without them i would struggle with keeping it on due to its length. The other tips...took notes 😁
this is weird but im just so happy that you said many PEOPLE have periods, not only women because there are men and many enby people that still deal with periods
Yoooo, they've got sheer thigh high stockings at walmarts in a huge array of colors. I'm so white that I mix white goth makeup with the lightest foundation to mix to my skintone- they have ones that suit me. They look so good on, nobody knows you're wearing them. And where they're thigh high, you don't have extra crotch fabric to give you heat stroke!
Not a cosplayer but that tip about skater tights is helpful for outfits! I didn't know there were basically skin colored thermal wear! Definitely looking into buying those. I imagine people will look at me and think I'm freezing in fall and winter when I'm wearing a skirt lol
I wear tights on every cosplay that shows legs and panty liners whenever there is sleeves on my cosplay.I din't know about the skating tights, thank you for the hacks!
Coming from a competitive figure skater, figure skating tights can save your life! I have several pairs of course, and my practice tights have some runs and tears in them but that's only because I catch my tights with my skating blade sometimes, but I just sew them right back up! Tights can help in like you're wearing a leotard like cosplay and the crotch area is uncomfortable. Also, they cover up bruises/ scars and you don't have to shave! And I can promise that they are very warm!
I personally have never had a period, however I can tell you that some U.S. Army Drill Sergeants put panty liners in the brim of their hats to absorb sweat and keep it from ruining their felt hats. Cool video!
Thank you so much for your "normalising periods" chat!!! It's so refreshing to hear people talk about normal human bodily functions. Also your videos are great thank you for such a funny channel!
I'm from one year in the future- dont let your guard down when the furries invade, KEEP THEM IN TIKTOK AT *ALL. COSTS.* We already let them win once, WE CANNOT DO IT AGAIN. We are starting war again. Dont let it get to that.
Quick note on wig clips: Very frequent use of these with heavy wigs can be bad for your real hair. Since you're clipping it down to your scalp, it's tugging at the hair there and may start to pull your hair out. Again, this is only if you're using them for long periods of time/most days of the week every week. I'm only stating this because of in person examples I've seen. So be cautious if you wish. I suggest taking breaks (unclipping the wig) now and then to ease the tension, but it's ultimately up to you (the wearer).
I live somewhere really hot, it’s practically 60-90 degrees Fahrenheit year round. If you’re wearing a hot costume it’s good to have a backup shirt, a themed shirt that matches your cosplay is great, but a regular plain color shirt also works. Make sure you also hydrate, don’t push yourself, make sure you are comfortable.
these hacks were awesome! and thank for not saying that only women have periods because I know a lot of people who don't identify as female and they get their period. so thank you. Also I love your videos
A tip for eyebrow gluing! If you’re having trouble applying gel glue to your eyebrows or straight from the stick try cutting off a piece into a small bowl and putting a bit of water in there. Use a small brush and dip it into the tiny puddle of water and along the glue chunk then to your brows. It appears much smoother and evenly splays out.
okay hi i'm just popping in to say thank you very much for using non-gendered language when talking about the period stuff!! it seems like a really small thing but it really means a lot
those wig clips are also great if you want to get that cool slouchy hat look and not have to deal with it sliding down all day. just put one in the front and you can clip is as far back on your head as you want. i've also used them a small clips on the inside of a thranduil crown so that it had a little bit of extra grip on my wig.
Yes! Wearing tights because I don't shave a lot. I'm a cosplayer in Phoenix where our biggest con is in June (don't ask me why) -- probably will buy the thinnest tights because it's too damn hot!
SubCulture Recall "where our biggest con is in June" ikr like, why tho XDXD Also a Phoenix-area cosplayer; I have always wondered why in the world they thought a con during 110°F-118°F weather was a good idea ^_^; Especially after limiting outside entrance points since that whole ordeal last year, my goodness. I know safety is a concern, but waiting in line outside in temperatures that extreme isn't safe either. Perhaps it is unfair of me to feel this way, I know no one is obligated to attend if they don't want to, but I really hope they find a better security solution this year because waiting in the heat like that is so so so unsafe. Especially for children, the elderly, service animals, and those with certain chronic illnesses. Not to mention cosplayers amirite 😂
I tend to have cosplays with trousers, and they are baggy, I wear skinny jeans underneath because it keeps you warmer in the early con season, they also help your trousers look better fitting if you have to wear a belt it makes you look less skinny if you are quite skinny and it helps keep the belt from moving
A lady at a con I was at told me that you can use really thick sanitary pads to put in your heels to make them more comfortable to wear. It's her trick and it's a life saver. She said stick it to the inside of your shoe making sure to get it all the way to where the balls of your feet are and then fold the wings up on the sides and it really helps cushion your feet (pretty much all over) to make wearing heels for a long time more manageable!
thank you so much! i’m doing a cosplay that shows a lot of leg in december so i was worried about both being cold and my bare legs so the skating tights tip really helps a lot!!!
Aw man, these are really useful! Especially if you are cosplaying a character with a different skin color, like gems in SU or Trolls in homestuck, and you'te wearing shorts or skirts! Since my con is in the winter, I kinda have to think of wearing weather appropriate cosplay, but luckily, I cosplay a lot of characters that wear sweaters and jackets and one that even wears both a sweater and a jacket. For one of my cosplays, i'm wearing a sweater, with shorts and underneath the shorts, i'm going to wear black leggings. So along with making my legs look nicer and not having to shave, i can stay warm :D.....my only issue is not over heating while in the con building, bc I have always overheated REAL easily ;u;
OH, also if you are wearing a headband on top of a wig, that slides, use hairclips, like those barrett...thingies, they keep the headhands up surprisingly well! I had to figure that out doing troll cosplays, and wearing horns attatched to headbands atop wigs. Also, if you're wearing a lot of makeup, or putting makeup on a prosthetic, put on baby or body powder on after you're done applying, it keeps it from coming off and smudging pretty well...especially if you're wearing makeup on your arms or hands
OH MY GOD THE PANTYLINER TIP!!! I cannot believe this never crossed my mind!!! I’ve seen heaps of other hacks that involve pinning wads of other absorbent things to your cosplay but never liked them the idea of poking holes in my cosplay or if one of them came loose. But this is BRILLIANT! Thank you so much!
you can also buy sock glue if you really want your socks to stay up! I'm not sure if this is common with cosplayers, but we use it all the time in dance!
Also, panty liners can be used to go down in the crotch area for swimsuit-type cosplay to prevent a camel toe from forming! Just a really normal use for them, and they can also help with hygiene down there ^-^
i think they put it over their underwear so it’s not directly on their skin. But some do put it on the skin. But most of those girls are waxed so there isn’t hair there. They do it for the bikini section since those bottoms come up pretty high your don’t want to have camel toe!
Just found your channel and I am SO happy! I'm relatively new-ish to cosplaying, and need all the tips and tricks I can get. Quick question ( and I apologize if you've answered this before or have a video on it already ), what foundation do you use for cosplay? Or have any tips of keeping makeup fresh ( or at least, as fresh as possible lol ) all day at a con ?
Abby B Yay I'm so glad, welcome to the fam! 🙌💕 And no I haven't answered that before that's a very good question. 😁 I use Marcelle foundation (it's a Canadian drugstore brand), and to keep it looking as pristine as possible throughout the day, I use Photo Ready Primer from Nyx before putting it on, pressed powder after applying it to cover up shine, and Ben Nye finishing spray over the whole thing to keep my makeup in place. I also take the pressed powder with me at the con and I'll re-powder my face throughout the day if I get shiny.
Thank you, and thank you for the tips!! I've never used a setting spray, so I'll try that out :) Do you ever have to deal with your foundation settling into the creases of your face? Mine always creases in my smile lines. It gets pretty frustrating, and definitely not something I want showing up in photos lol. Also, it would be really cool to see a makeup tutorial from you (your makeup is always so pretty!) or perhaps a video on sewing/making cosplays for beginners. I really wanna get into making my own costumes, but am a little intimidated because I am no knowledgeable about sewing/costume making at all haha.
Here's an extra tip for keeping socks up (if it helps). I used to be in Irish dance, and we have this stuff that you can get called sock glue. You literally roll it onto where the top of the socks will go, and it helps keep them in place. The only downside is that it can be hard to wash off afterwards, but it works pretty well.
Really helpful tips :D I use tights for performances but never thought about using it for cosplays LOL now we need tips for the opposite of seasons: all the moisture wicking fabrics for summer cons o(-< here’s to stronger con game in 2018 💪🏻✨
Dance tights, such as capizzio or Bloch, are great! They’re durable, made for rolling around on the floor in dances, come in tons of shades and colors, and look smooth and nice! You can even colored tights sometimes, like I have red tights, which are really great for colorful characters! Hope that helped
I did ballet for 13 years, for cosplay tights I really really recommend getting ballet tights I usually get them in a porcelain colour. I usually get them from capezio which is slightly more expensive but you can get them cheaper in loads of other places. You can also get ones with a hole on the bottom that you can choose to put you're feet through if you wanna roll them up.
I wear additional comfy underpants over tights/leggings to help them stay in place. It is a miracle! Also, since I heard you mentioning binding in an older video, I made myself a binding bra that is even more comfortable than a normal bra. Simply bound my chest with kitchen foil and duct tape and made a mirrored pattern.
You can also use panty liners in bodysuits to keep the suit from causing a visible wedgie!
Rachel C YES!! I'm glad you mentioned that, that's a really good tip! 🙌
AnyaPanda you are awesome and inspiring I am a very young Cosplayer and I really liked your tips keep up your great cosplay!
Or cameltoe, for people that have those bits.
I was just gonna say that! cause when you do a cosplay thats a bit tight down there it can look weird and be uncomfortable but they toltlaly help and they are usually pretty cheap.

I totally support the tattoo paper! Only thing it can be a pain with is sleeves, which I found was my downfall when I did Chloe Price :(

Ashley Chamberlain Thanks for the great tip! ✌😃
Eeeeeeeeeeeeee miraculous
Do have a link to your cosplay
I bought a skin suit and cut the head off and hemmed it then painted it with black acrylic paint. Then I glued flats to the bottom with E 6000. That's how I made a ladybug jump suit for roughly $50.00

Panty liners can also be used in shoes that rub. Better than using bandaids
Rhi Hylia You can also glue felt into the shoes at the rub points! :D
panty liners are just the heroes of cosplay is what I'm getting from this
I do that with my New Rock boots
Thank youuuu
I find they slip too much
Amusing pantyliner usage in cosplay - big, manly Klingon warriors will often have one under their forehead prosthesis to deal with obvious sweating problems ^.~
Oh my gosh that's fantastic!
Oml really!? Awsome
I'm pretty sure everyone knows this already. This is more of a packing for conventions hack. Roll your cosplays instead of folding them not only will it save space in your suite case but there is less of a chance of causing them to wrinkle.
Thank you so much for this! I would've never thought of doing that.
a tip i've heard so you have more room in your suitecase coming baCK from the con:
fold your clothes on the way there, and roll them on the way back. that way, you now have room for stuff you bought, and you can also distinguish whats clean and dirty if you didnt wear everything.
@@twistedrose ok thank you! i wasnt quite sure what to do there lol.

I’m Australian. Don’t even start.
So if you really don’t want tights or need like even gloves to stay in place on your arms it works for that too.
one from meeeee
when i cosplayed uraraka from bnha for halloween, i was afraid of being cold (i was specifically cosplaying her sports festival outfit), so i cut a pair of pantyhose at the crotch and basically wore them as a shirt under the tank top! it sounds rlly weird but it helped a lot aha
I do that with fishnet stockings all the time to make a top. It's an oldschool goth hack :)
finally a BNHA comment
Thank you i'm gonna be uraraka
Any tips for not getting a breeze to lift your skirt when your toga-
I mean I hate the boys in my class-
You wear a cosplay with a skirt for the Halloween costume day and you get wolf whistles all around-
I swear they’re worse than the grapist.
@@sillychuu wear a pair of shorts under the skirt!! if you get a pair that's shorter they shouldn't show normally too
Also, I'm just saying, from when I did my Harley Quinn cosplay, my tights were like, skin-tight
Slightly padded liners can help you avoid cameltoe in photos :)
I thought of the skin-coloured tights thing a looong time but not so much for cosplay, but just that my legs are so goddamn white compared to the rest of me. And I have various scars from scrapes and falls over the years that are just unflattering. So I invested in a few pairs for when I wore shorts and skirts.
Shazza Rose ballerinas use them for their scars, bruises and “too muscular” legs
I use very thin cloth pads, they feel better than liners and you don't have to worry about them unsticking if you end up in a hot venue where you end up sweating a lot!

A hack that worked for me is if you're ever doing an EVA foam armor cosplay....use the extra foam to make a hidden pocket for your phone/wallet 👌👌👌
ThatGuyYouKnowww Yoooooo that's super smart!! 👌👌
good idea
DUDE YOU'RE A LEGEND

Oooooooohhhhhhhhh!!!! That's super helpful, thanks!
ThatGuyYouKnowww cool, im doing an eva foam armor suit rn too, ill think about that
Professional costume designers use the pad hack!
I know this comment is from 2 years ago but what if your not allowed to shave your side burns, is there a hack for that??
@@gachaartpotato9972 i'd say just cover them in white makeup of some kind and then a matching foundation for your skin. then use eyeshadow that matches the wig. I hope that works for you
@@ravencatcos Ty!! But is there something more simple for cosplay for fun (not a con etc)

I hope this little comment helped a little ^-^
Tohru Chan That's a great idea, thank you for sharing! 🙌💕💕
No problem ♪ I just hope I helped someone out a little, really.
Also if they have eye shadow that matches, they can use a white eye liner yo cover the hairs and then cover it in eye shadow.
pencil seems lowkey dangerous, recommendation is to color with your lighest concealer and then use eyeshadow
Never ever try to put toxic substances near your eyes, mouth and nose. Your skin and mucosaes can suffer from toxins and draining.
This is definitely not a good tip. These are not meant to go on skin. Just buy a cheap eyebrow pencil at the drug store for like $3. Theres gonna be a color to match. At the very least, use eyeshadow. Dont use colored pencil
@@demontitania Crayola is non toxic and works extremely well

I used to do Irish step dancing, and we would get this roll on glue stuff for people who cat where socks with elastic in them to keep our socks up. I assume it would work with any knee high or thigh high socks too.
I’m going to use these hacks! Here’s some of mine:
If you have a character with blood all over them, put fake blood all over yourself and not just your face.
Also, here’s a tip for anyone doing a non-canon character.
Thank you some of these hacks will help me and cool.
TheAn1meGirl 2000 glad i could help
:)
so, do you have anything to say to people with thick dark brows about covering them cause like, just telling people to stick to wigs/characters with their already natural hair color kinda takes the fun out of dressing up
Rayne Blackwater I know it does and I think I remembered one now.
A lot of my Captain America cosplay friends wear pantyliners in their helmets to stop sweat from dripping down their foreheads! They are so useful!
Ballet tights are awesome for the same reason, they make them with convertible feet so you can make them footless if you need while being thin and moveable enough to wear socks over if you need. They also covered all the bruises on my legs from my job 👌
Jonx Cosplay I love these! And the colours are excellent
They run super easily though! As a dancer who has worn these most days of the week they run so so so so SO easily. I wouldn't wear them with a cosplay that has anything that can catch on the tights
they also are more comfy in my opinion because theyre made to wick sweat

Oh my god you just saved my life. Wig clips! Why didn't i think of that!? You probably don't know Judal from magi, he's god huge hair and my wig is enormous and super heavy but this might just work. Bless you! And happy new year, by the way :*

Oh god, I can just imagine. Judal's wig has to be crazy heavy.
For heavy wigs, making pin curls, tiny buns, or little french braids along your hairline to slide your bobby pins into can be real life savers!
YES! As someone who is in musicals, as well as cosplaying, the no shows over tights work SOOOO well!
I'm literally sewing wig clips into a wig while watching this!!! I get mine from Sally's (any beauty store or wig store should have them) in 12 packs for around $3. I love skating tights! I also suggest dance tights, they're super durable, cheap, come in TONS of colors, and you can get convertible ones that you can pull off your feet to walk barefoot without ruining your tights.
idk why but when you said “people have periods” instead of “women have periods” my heart went 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
SAMEEEE
You should make a video of how to sew in the clips into your wig!
Alex-Senpai It's very simple to do, plus there are probably tutorials out there already.
That would be crazy useful for those of us who've never learnt makeup and are left a bit stumped on what to do (like myself)
edit: also- yes! we should normalise periods, I'm sick of seeing people ashamed of what their bodies naturally do
Questionably Hollow Since I'm not comfortable showing my natural appearance in videos, makeup tutorials aren't something I'd be able to easily do unfortunately. However there are many beginner makeup tutorials out there already -- for example MangoSirene has a beginner cosplay makeup tutorial on her channel that's quite good.
Ahh thank you for the recommendation I'll be sure to check it out
I would suggest using BB cream as a starting point. It does several things at once and I use it for cosplays that require super smooth or lighter skin than my own.
if you did want to use tights, they have dancer tights with extended crotches for that reason
tbh, regarding the tights - I can also recommend investing in light compression tights
I work for a company that sells them, they look just like any other tights, but boy howdy, considering you are up 90% of the time, your legs will be dying by the time you get to lay down!
Definitely using it when I do mine! I might do Viperion, but for now I’m doing Luka!
I wear a lot of full-face masks, and I think slapping some panty liners on the inside of the mask might help absorb some of the sweat that builds up on my forehead and stuff. Wild.
great tips! I completely agree with tights one. I wear tights with pretty much any cosplay. It just makes for a cleaner look.
I love how she used people instead of girl when talking about periods 💗 my big brother is ftm and it makes me happy when ppl add the fact that a lot of pre-T males go through the same things 💕
Omh the skater tights hack is so useful to know!!! I will definitely use that thank you!!!
Tip for beginners:
If it's your first time wearing contacts, I highly suggest doing it before makeup and maybe waking up an hour early.
On my second con, I decided to wear contacts for the first time. It looked easy so I woke up at 7 and did my makeup first so I could finish by 10am. Turns out it was really hard and all my makeup was washing off because of my tears. I ended up going to the con around 1pm without having lunch at all.
A panty liner for sweat soakers?! That is the best idea I ever heard! I will totally use that for my new cosplay
tbh??? the gnc and trans-inclusive talk of periods made me subscribe.
aksiznerfgun yessssss same!! as a trans boy i thought it was super cool of her to do that :D
Same
Imagine being so insecure in your own being that you get upset when someone uses inclusive language.
Literal mood. I second you.
Only women have period, but ok.
I hate when people confound biological sex and gender.
Only women get periods because it's a biological thing, but it doesn't represent your gender.
majinfreecell Biologically, yes. But people that don’t identify as female can still have periods
majinfreecell um.. do you know about trans people yet... this has gotta be a kid

Cool video!

Cactuss gaming and more lmao soooo true
Omgosh that’s super helpful! I never thought about using panty liners!! Thank you!!
I suggest taking breaks (unclipping the wig) now and then to ease the tension, but it's ultimately up to you (the wearer).
ooh great tips! tights are honestly a lifesaver for helping socks and thigh highs to stay up!!
these are very helpful!! never thought of the panty liners one
That wig + your outfit
You look like young Mikasa :D
Btw thanks for those tips
Yes I totally understand the Canadian cosplay trouble I can totally relate
It appears much smoother and evenly splays out.

those wig clips are also great if you want to get that cool slouchy hat look and not have to deal with it sliding down all day. just put one in the front and you can clip is as far back on your head as you want. i've also used them a small clips on the inside of a thranduil crown so that it had a little bit of extra grip on my wig.
Yes! Wearing tights because I don't shave a lot.
I'm a cosplayer in Phoenix where our biggest con is in June (don't ask me why) -- probably will buy the thinnest tights because it's too damn hot!
SubCulture Recall "where our biggest con is in June" ikr like, why tho XDXD
Also a Phoenix-area cosplayer; I have always wondered why in the world they thought a con during 110°F-118°F weather was a good idea ^_^; Especially after limiting outside entrance points since that whole ordeal last year, my goodness.
I never thought about the panty liner thing. That might be useful for my Shego cosplay if I wear it in the summer. Great video!
YOU'RE COSPLAYING SHEGO OMG THAT'S SO AWESOME!!
Its been a while and I needed this and I finally found it
Tights also help keep my thighs from chaffing tbh
A lady at a con I was at told me that you can use really thick sanitary pads to put in your heels to make them more comfortable to wear. It's her trick and it's a life saver. She said stick it to the inside of your shoe making sure to get it all the way to where the balls of your feet are and then fold the wings up on the sides and it really helps cushion your feet (pretty much all over) to make wearing heels for a long time more manageable!
You pulled out the panty liners and I just started nodding and knew it was for armpits.
Your not weird I love this channel mainly because you don’t read every single thing from a script you make if funny and cool
It made me so happy how gender inclusive you were when talking about periods, as a trans cosplayer it was very lovely so thanks!!
thank you so much! i’m doing a cosplay that shows a lot of leg in december so i was worried about both being cold and my bare legs so the skating tights tip really helps a lot!!!
Aw man, these are really useful! Especially if you are cosplaying a character with a different skin color, like gems in SU or Trolls in homestuck, and you'te wearing shorts or skirts! Since my con is in the winter, I kinda have to think of wearing weather appropriate cosplay, but luckily, I cosplay a lot of characters that wear sweaters and jackets and one that even wears both a sweater and a jacket. For one of my cosplays, i'm wearing a sweater, with shorts and underneath the shorts, i'm going to wear black leggings. So along with making my legs look nicer and not having to shave, i can stay warm :D.....my only issue is not over heating while in the con building, bc I have always overheated REAL easily ;u;
Doot Noot, love your name!
Thank you so much!
totally gonna use that last one for my mei cosplay. I die in it every time I wear it *o*
you can also buy sock glue if you really want your socks to stay up! I'm not sure if this is common with cosplayers, but we use it all the time in dance!
Also, panty liners can be used to go down in the crotch area for swimsuit-type cosplay to prevent a camel toe from forming! Just a really normal use for them, and they can also help with hygiene down there ^-^
Tanya Cotencova beauty queens use duct tape lol
Ariel Norman oh gosh, that sounds like it'd hurt when you take it off >
i think they put it over their underwear so it’s not directly on their skin. But some do put it on the skin. But most of those girls are waxed so there isn’t hair there. They do it for the bikini section since those bottoms come up pretty high your don’t want to have camel toe!

Skating tights saved me so much! I did Sailor Neptune and the skirt is a lot shorter than I am used and confident with. So thank you! 🙏🏼
These are so helpful! Thank you!!
Oh my God I wish I knew about skater tights before. I once just layered like 3 pairs of tights just to stand the weather XD
i've been using panty liners for years! Probably one of the best cosplay hacks out there. So glad to see more people that know about it~
I wear additional comfy underpants over tights/leggings to help them stay in place. It is a miracle! Also, since I heard you mentioning binding in an older video, I made myself a binding bra that is even more comfortable than a normal bra. Simply bound my chest with kitchen foil and duct tape and made a mirrored pattern.
