First thing! You are so adorable! I totally agree! KEEP MOVING there is no room to stop! If you see some cosplay you like, wait until you are located in a bigger area!! You will probably see them again anyway! I also hate that when i ask for a photo and people jump in and take there photo without asking, especially when that cosplayer only has limited time! Sometimes i never get my photo because of others! There are also the people who try and sleep at some conventions because they dont get a hotel or just dont want to leave! >.
Something I didn't expect at my first con: no matter how bad you think your cosplay is, someone will probably want a picture. Whether you are a popular character or not, as long as you are recognisable, expect at least one picture. Similarly, don't be scared to ask someone for a picture! Trust me, people will be happy. It might feel awkward at first (in most normal social events, asking a stranger for a picture is _really_ weird), but throughout the con, it will get easier. Even if you don't want a picture, complimenting other's cosplays is perfectly fine. You don't have to be creepy about it at all. If the person you want a picture with isn't busy talking or eating, just walk up to them, say their character's name if they don't notice you ("Levi! Hey, uh, I really like your Levi cosplay. Can I take a picture?"), and try to avoid touching them to get their attention. If they are eating, just try to find them later, and if they're talking, you can just wait around for them to finish. On another note, walk around and look at _all_ of the vendors before buying anything. Even better, look at everything soon after you get to the con, then come back around lunch to buy stuff. That way, you've had time to think over your purchases, and you don't have to carry everything you bought all day. Lastly, give yourself some down time during the con. Around 3/4 through my con, I was tired. There weren't any panels that interested my sister and I, and we had just been active for a couple of hours. My sister took a nap while I sat next to her playing on my phone, and afterwards, we were set to have fun again. Don't feel like you have to do stuff the entire time you're there: eat a snack, take a nap, and relax. It's no longer fun if you have to force yourself to enjoy it. That's all the knowledge I can share. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Good luck at your first con. It's an experience you'll never forget.
I agree with the picture thing, and I looked awful half my makeup was dripping of cause there was a massive heatwave and I got 5-6 compliments for amazing people and 2 pictures. So yes and also be ready to pose!
I'm a very shy person, the only person I socialize with is my family, and boyfriend, I'm cosplaying for the first time. The picture thing makes me nervous because I have some past trauma linked to people taking my picture, and I'm SHY and have terrible anxiety. I hope everything goes well.
Thank you sm for these tips! I'm going to my first con next week! I am super nervous (but also excited ofc). I want to cosplay Wednesday Addams for Saturday, and Michael Myers for Sunday. But due to money troubles, I don't feel confident in either cosplay. Your statement about "someone will want a pic, regardless if it's good or bad" has helped me relax. ❤️
My first "con" was Anime Con 12 at the Louisville Public Library. It was so small, but I saw about 18 of my favourite characters and it was amazing! I did exactly what this video says. I was excited/feeling a bit overwhelmed/wanted to run around screaming! This year I'll be COSPLAYING as a character I did not see last year...!!!
The journey to the con and the cosplayers slowly taking over public transportation is SO TRUE lol! I've been to a renaissance/medieval con last year and the station we had to get off the subway was crowding with people in armor and medieval dresses! And then this huge group of people started walking through the streets to the actual location of the con, it was so weird and so AMAZING! :D You really feel like you're part of a special group no one else knows about!
Recently me and my dad drove to a cosplay picnic. Asides from my dad butchering how you pronounce cosplay, he was the one who spotted the first people walking around! It was helpful because we weren’t really sure where to go.
the fun thing is, I wear what I wear at a con and people don't laugh at me at all. if people laugh at you isn't that becouse of what you're wearing, it is because you feel uncomfortable about it. when you just think: 'I like this, I don't care what others think' only jerks will lough at you. and why would you care about that? when you dress in cosplay, a lot of people will say that you look great!!!
I went to my first con this weekend and you are so on point in this video. The one I went to let little kids in, there was even a newborn baby with his parents in the talent show. I think something to add to the video is if there's going to be little kids and they see someone like Spiderman and they are super excited, tugging their parents as they run to the cosplayer, don't be that person whose like "that's not really Spiderman" you don't want a child to lose faith in their heroes so early on in life.
+Tarah Field I think that's awesome. You gave me an idea. I'd love to see a reaction video of children reacting to conventions, because they might actually believe everyone they see is real!
+BecomingTia you should. it's an adorable site. I even saw a little girl whose parents purchased her first ever cosplay outfit in the dealers den and as soon as money exchanged hands she was on the prowl for Titans.
I am a cosplayer noob. Is it okay to dress like a female version of a male character (Edit: I appreciate all the likes and comments, but could you possibly stop, its been 4 years. Thanks! ❤)
That ending had me wheezing. I kid you not when I say that I almost fell off of this bed because I was laughing so hard and didn't know how close I was to the edge.
My first con is a smaller one happening tomorrow! I'm cosplaying as Phoenix Wright (unfortunately I couldn't get a wig in time but whatevs) I made my own objection sign and everything! The next con I'm going to is Planet Comicon in Kansas City, which is a lot bigger! Seriously, Stan Lee and Edward Elric's voice actor are going to be there!
+crystal bubbles Woot! Stan Lee and Vic Mignogna? I haven't met them perse, but Vic always shows up for Fan Expo and I volunteered for crowd control for Stan Lee's autograph line once. ^^ Enjoy!
Remember,if your skin colour is not the same as the character you're cosplaying, don't freak out or get out of cosplay because somebody said that it's not okay for you to cosplay that specific character you are beautiful and it doesn't matter what your skin colour is. You are still one of us 💛💛
Captain Phoenix Gaming Okay, that's normal. New experience, new nerves = enhanced life. I have a video called 7 Ways for Shy People to Have an Amazing Time at a Convention. It may help: ua-cam.com/video/NVscH08-QH8/v-deo.html
The hallway thing is so true. I met a Dazai Osamu cosplayer at my first convention a month ago and we just stood in a slightly empty hallway and talked for about ten minutes. It was gr8
Oh cool! I’m going to my first ever con (which happens to be the comic con in Scotland) as whatever I get for Christmas, hoping for denki, kirishima or Josuke from jjba
As someone who has been going to cons for many years now, I tend to like to schedule out my Con before I go. I love panels, go to photoshoots, set up private shoots, go shopping, and of course I block out time specifically to eat. If I don't schedule it, it'll stress me out at the con to figure it out. Me and my friends went to a Con last year and one of them started their first period, Not to mention she was wearing a tight cosplay, Thank God she had a spare cosplay XD
My first con was a year ago. I had a mostly internet-bought AOT costume that I bought for Halloween. The point about leaving the con wanting to make my own cosplay is very true. Now I sit here typing with my half finished costume in front of me and the con in a week 🙃
i remember i watched this video when i was 10!!! i’m 18 now and finally going to my first ever anime convention and i am so nervous and excited xD thank you so much for keeping this video up hehe
I'm hopefully going to my first con in April! i'll be going as Asriel from Undertale If i am going i need these tips because i'll probably be so excited, because i might take a picture of someone and not know x3 Also, your hair looks like twilight sparkle o3o
I feel so excited and nervous to go to my first con. I'm watching a lot of these videos haha but I feel nervous that my cosplay wings are gonna hit people because my first con is Otakon which has like 20,000+ people going omg.
With the food thing, an idea might be to bring "weeb foods" if you know what I'm talking about, but make sure it's not super messy or something because it will be crowded
Who need friends when you got an older half brother taking you to your first convention ! My friends went last year and doesn't have enough this year but last year I didn't have enough to go 😅 maybe next year we can all go
Going to my first con this July, Omaha Comic Con! This video was super fun, and helpful. :) Keep it up! My cosplay is gonna be Castiel from Supernatural.
Ahhh! I'm going to a con in less than 2 weeks! I'm so excited! Making a schedule is a good idea!! I'm going to MomoCon and I want to get the full benefit of it!
Thank you for this! Today I'm going to my first anime convention! (Otakon), i'll be there the whole weekend with my friend and I'm so excited. We've saved so much money for cosplays and vendors I'm sure it will be a blast! :D
This video was amazing, and very helpful, thank you! But I have a few questions that came to mind while I was watching. 1. What convention would you recommend going to for someone who has never gone to a convention before? 2. What convention would you recommend going to for someone who has a low budget? 3. Is it acceptable for someone to go to a convention cosplaying as an OC (original character)? Or would people get mad? 4. Which convention is usually the most packed / full of people? 5. Last question. I've never gone to a convention before. Should I cosplay the first time I go to a convention, or should I not? I'm very late in asking this question, so I don't know if I'll get an answer, but it was worth a try. :D Thank you either way!
At my first con I felt really shy and embarrassed before getting to the center while wearing my cosplay, but once I got inside I felt *underdressed*. Like everyone looked amazing and beautiful and majestic and just 👌👌. If I died rn, that con would be on the highlight reel. MORAL OF THE STORY dont worry about overdoing it because in the end everyone is just excited as you are 🌸
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I also have convention vlogs if you'd like to see the experience. If you scroll to the end of my UA-cam homepage.
I wish I watched this before my first con a few days ago. I was so stressed, hot and overwhelmed. I didn’t know you could ask cosplayers for photos at first and it made me so stressed asking. I laughed when you said you will already be planning a cosplay because I literally am as we speak lol. I also didn’t know vendors have to tax you if you pay with card so next time Im gonna save my cash. I didn’t really check out what was happening online so I only took pictures with cosplayers and bought stuff and I kind of regret not having a schedule and attending panels.
+Mz. Cherri Aww! First of all that's so cool! But I live far away in a city known as Toronto (da 6). Maybe one day! Or you can come down here! We have Anime North and Fan Expo. ^^
9:40 that really was relieving to hear, I’m a very anxious person and I guess I always just expect to be made fun of but that was really nice to hear thank you omg
I’m that person who doesn’t go to a con for three years, just to perfect their makeup and cosplay, then go to a con then freak out and leave 👁➖👁 ( this hasn’t happened. Yet.)
My first con (I hope at least) is in a few months, I’m so excited! I made a mandolorian costume from scratch and am working on a transoformer bumblebee costume. Can’t wait!
My first con is in the summer of 2021, and I’m going with my friend. We’re still deciding what to do for it tho... Edit: We actually just decided on Gyro Zeppeli and Johnny Joestar from JJBA!
Ive been watching so many of your cosplay/convention videos because my first con is in like 2 months and im so nervous. Im going as Hanji Zoe from aot/snk. Your videos really help me, thank you!
I'm so sad because all the cons ever are on days that I have important shit, like I was gonna go to a local con, but nope I have PMEA finals for concert band the first day and MAPS championships for indoor percussion the next day, great. fun
I am so excited for my first con in...I think September! I believe I am going as Ciel Phantomhive, and I hope that the Rhode Island comic con has a Black Butler panel.
I'm hoping to go this year with a friend (or three), I've already started planning. I'm watching all these videos and I'm already feeling overwhelmed and excited 😂
My very first con is actually quite a big one. NY Comic Con! I am cosplaying as Homura from Madoka Magica, and I am super excited. I grew up poor, so I could never afford to go to cons. But I saved up my money for this!
In a couple months I have my first con and there are going to be many people. I’m a people person and I feel confident in my cosplay choices. Thank you for this video so much💕
Even though I am very late watching this video, I enjoyed it! Thank you for making it! I have yet to attend my first con but I am very interested in cosplay overall! I will be 50 on November 26th and I am attending my first con on November 17th in Pleasanton, California! 😍😍😍😍😍
I'm attending Swampcon this Sunday (free con ran by the local college) and it will be my first con which I'm very excited for since I've been trying to go to a con for YEARS now. I'm going with a small group of people and I'm cosplaying. Its something slightly obscure and my cosplay isn't perfect but I just need to be confident and have fun. Its a smaller con so I might be bored and I'm terrified of it being dead. I've been watching all sorts of con videos to get my confidence and excitement up all day.
This is probably a random question, but I'll be going to my first con in April (with some friends who are cosplaying with me). I have been cosplaying for a few years and have a cosplay social media, but I just this year found people (who are now my friends) who also cosplay, so I feel comfortable going! I also have experience going out in public in cosplay and getting my photos taken and people talking to me about my cosplays when they see me. I suffer from anxiety and sometimes I have issues when it comes to what to say. If I want to take a photo of someone is saying, "Excuse me, is it okay if I can take a photo of you (or photo with you )? I really love your [character] cosplay!" okay? Sorry if this is really stupid of me to ask haha, I am just scared that I might say something impolite (I'm a polite person, just under pressure or anxiety I have brain farts and it's good for me to know exactly what to say before hand" xD
So I'm just starting to cosplay and me and my uncle decided that when more cons open up that we'll go to one and I was just wondering, is it ok to wear any cosplay that you have or do you have to wear a cosplay related to the con?
I might be going to Kraken-Con and this is so helpful! I can't wait to go and maybe cosplay as someone! I'm still wondering who to cosplay as but I'm watching anime and seeing what i want to cosplay as.
I've just started getting into anime and I really love it, but I've only seen a good 5 popular animes and I'm really worried I'm gonna look stupid because I wont know who a lot of the cosplayers will be :(
Don't worry about that. Most conventions feature cosplays from anime, comics, movies, television and just pop culture in general. Are you watching Naruto, by chance?
Lol im keep watching your old vids My first con was last year it was really bad it was really small cause it was in an old store in a mall and there were no pannels it was basically an artist alley with like a cosplay contest and some "famous" people mainly wrestlers and the entry was like $30 per person it was sad but atleast i went to one
Those in 2021 please don't go to any cons this year. I know you probably really want to/ or it be your first con but don't. not during the pandemic.:// The faster it ends the sooner we can all go!
I feel so excited and nervous to go to my first con. I'm watching a lot of these videos haha but I feel nervous that my cosplay wings are gonna hit people because my first con is Otakon which has like 20,000+ people going omg.
I AM SO HYPE YOU QUOTED LIGHTS TO START THIS VIDEO WITH ❤❤❤ Also you are. Total Doll and seriously helping me start my cosplay adventures!
My first convention is very soon so I'm binge watching all of these convention tips videos I've seen when I wasn't able to go 😭

Ty! Going to Phoenix 'Con 2022 and your lists (and others) are extremely helpful. 👍
With the food thing, an idea might be to bring "weeb foods" if you know what I'm talking about, but make sure it's not super messy or something because it will be crowded

Hello neighbour!
I'm from Singapore ^.^
Thank you so much for this video! I'm going to my first convention in a week and I swear, your video and your energy made me even more excited!🤩
I'm glad, because this video is painful for me to watch of myself several years later.
Who need friends when you got an older half brother taking you to your first convention !
My friends went last year and doesn't have enough this year but last year I didn't have enough to go 😅 maybe next year we can all go
Even though I went to ax last year, this year is my first TRUE trip so this was very helpful. Thank you for making this :)
Going to my first con this July, Omaha Comic Con! This video was super fun, and helpful. :) Keep it up! My cosplay is gonna be Castiel from Supernatural.
Thanks this really helped me as I’m a teen who loves cosplay and anime who wants to go to conventions but gets a bit scared by the idea of them
Ahhh! I'm going to a con in less than 2 weeks! I'm so excited!
Making a schedule is a good idea!! I'm going to MomoCon and I want to get the full benefit of it!
Taylor Hobbs Hype!!!
Thank you for this! Today I'm going to my first anime convention! (Otakon), i'll be there the whole weekend with my friend and I'm so excited. We've saved so much money for cosplays and vendors I'm sure it will be a blast! :D
Im going to supanova tomorow (my first con) and im going as chucky, sooooooo excited
I'm going to be Lucy Heartfilia and Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail and i'm so excited!
Thank you either way!
I shall answer these in videos and a q+a this month
I remember my first con, i got so overwhelmed i cried because i got so happy over cosplays and such:))
At my first con I felt really shy and embarrassed before getting to the center while wearing my cosplay, but once I got inside I felt *underdressed*. Like everyone looked amazing and beautiful and majestic and just 👌👌. If I died rn, that con would be on the highlight reel. MORAL OF THE STORY dont worry about overdoing it because in the end everyone is just excited as you are 🌸
I’m going to my first con in May and I’m nervous but excited
Tomorrow I my first con and I’m so excited
Yay! Where are you off to?
Your con advise series has been really helpful thanks!
In going to my first cosplay in July!Im gonna dress up like Eren from Attack on Titan!Im so excited!
Oooh! Tatakaaiiiii!
This video was so helpful ! ♡ now im even more excited for the first time i go, lol.
Thank you :3
Mischa Barros Yay! I'm glad. When is your first con?
+Mz.
I’m that person who doesn’t go to a con for three years, just to perfect their makeup and cosplay, then go to a con then freak out and leave 👁➖👁
( this hasn’t happened. Yet.)
It’s really easy to make friends at cons. I know it seems scary, and I was scared too, but once I went in there it was so much fun. And nice people!
Sounds like something I’d do lmao
You are totes right! At my first con. Immediately after we left I started planning my cosplay. And your tips are very helpful! Thankx
+Azariah Deckard I'm glad :)
I'm going to Ohayo Con in Jan. and I'm so excited! I'm cosplaying as sans from undertale and I'm so happy I came across this video!! Thank you
Have fun!
Thank you
Hope to see you at a con, thanks for the advice!
Sometimes a cosplay is so good that you wonder if it's actually the person they're cosplaying
My first con (I hope at least) is in a few months, I’m so excited! I made a mandolorian costume from scratch and am working on a transoformer bumblebee costume. Can’t wait!
That's amazing!
My first con is in the summer of 2021, and I’m going with my friend. We’re still deciding what to do for it tho...
Edit: We actually just decided on Gyro Zeppeli and Johnny Joestar from JJBA!
Ooh cool!

This will help me a lot! i am planning on going to Gen Con with my older brother and his roommate! i have like 50 ideas for my cosplay for it ;w;
I’m going to the London comicon in Canada on September 17 and I’m so freaking excited😭😭 I’m cosplaying Mitsuri from demon slayer 🥰

Jayvee Entertainment Thank you so much! Love it. Which con are you going to?
***** Its an anime convention called Connecticon
Aah! Nice. I heard of that one. Have fun! XD
I'm hoping to go this year with a friend (or three), I've already started planning. I'm watching all these videos and I'm already feeling overwhelmed and excited 😂
My first con was Cyphacon in Louisiana 😊 I didn't enjoy at first cause there was lots of people (no surprise there) but in the end i enjoyed it
My very first con is actually quite a big one. NY Comic Con! I am cosplaying as Homura from Madoka Magica, and I am super excited. I grew up poor, so I could never afford to go to cons. But I saved up my money for this!
+Shelby Gustafson Madoka Magica
I went to Anime Ohio as Deku for my first con. I got yelled at by 4 Bakugos
Nevaeh Draws *oh boy*
Was Ochako there with you
@@nicoletteadams1398 No I went with with my friend, she was todoroki. But I saw a deku and her

How do you not have more subs?!? Your videos are stunning and professional. Not to mention entertaining
I just got into cosplay and this video was very informative :D
Also have you seen danganronpa?
Thanks, and yes I have. That show is a trip.
In a couple months I have my first con and there are going to be many people. I’m a people person and I feel confident in my cosplay choices. Thank you for this video so much💕
I'm going to Walker Stalker Con in Chicago, May 28 & 29th!!!
I'm glad to my first anime convention February 12th to February 14th so excited can't wait
KatsuKon
never been to a convention before so I'm studying
This video is so old now, but a lot of it is still true, haha. For example, I definitely don't attend those con dances.
my first comic con is tomorrow and i’m nervous but at the same time excited. i’m dressing up as taiga aisaka from toradora
bold of you to assume I’m not there with my dad 😎😂
Haha!
i am overly excited about the smallest things and well getting super excited for a normal person means I’m going to pass out
Even though I am very late watching this video, I enjoyed it! Thank you for making it! I have yet to attend my first con but I am very interested in cosplay overall! I will be 50 on November 26th and I am attending my first con on November 17th in Pleasanton, California! 😍😍😍😍😍
You're welcome. You look so young! My mom's birthday is on November 25th.
BecomingTia thank you very much! You're very sweet! Heyyyy me and moms are sagittarius's!!😍😍
Sorry if this is really stupid of me to ask haha, I am just scared that I might say something impolite (I'm a polite person, just under pressure or anxiety I have brain farts and it's good for me to know exactly what to say before hand" xD
omg ha ha I Love you! I laughed so hard with this video! I remember my first con! it was incredible! and then sick for the following week! haha
So I'm just starting to cosplay and me and my uncle decided that when more cons open up that we'll go to one and I was just wondering, is it ok to wear any cosplay that you have or do you have to wear a cosplay related to the con?
Any cosplay works!
@@BecomingTia okie thanks
I might be going to Kraken-Con and this is so helpful! I can't wait to go and maybe cosplay as someone! I'm still wondering who to cosplay as but I'm watching anime and seeing what i want to cosplay as.
I've just started getting into anime and I really love it, but I've only seen a good 5 popular animes and I'm really worried I'm gonna look stupid because I wont know who a lot of the cosplayers will be :(
Don't worry about that. Most conventions feature cosplays from anime, comics, movies, television and just pop culture in general. Are you watching Naruto, by chance?
@@BecomingTia No, I haven't started watching it yet. Should I?
@@rhiannon0629 YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol im keep watching your old vids
My first con was last year it was really bad it was really small cause it was in an old store in a mall and there were no pannels it was basically an artist alley with like a cosplay contest and some "famous" people mainly wrestlers and the entry was like $30 per person it was sad but atleast i went to one
Those in 2021 please don't go to any cons this year. I know you probably really want to/ or it be your first con but don't. not during the pandemic.:// The faster it ends the sooner we can all go!
In new Zealand were literally done with covid and I was here for vacation and now I've been here for a year. Just waiting on the us
Theres no masks no nothing
