Love hearing this because 1981 was the first time me and my friends saw the band. It was Bakersfield, Ca. and billed as the band's only southern California appearance for the year. We snuck into the venue and heard some of the soundcheck before we were caught. The highlights were hearing the band play Zeppelin's "Goodtimes Badtimes" and Rick walking the open floor, wireless, strumming his guitar.
Oh boy......We have been waiting, hoping, and praying for music from this Tour! Bun E. on "Go For the Throat" (and the whole "All Shook Up" album) is fierce!
@@bobgomez9481 Ben E stated that these recordings are over a 3 night stand in Chicago. So, not from a single show. Some lucky cities got as many as 8 ASU songs in the set on given nights. The show I attended had 7 ASU songs played.
You hear the drums here , and it exasperates me that CT thought they could continue wo Bun. E. and charge even higher prices for concert tickets. It's a sad demise to a band I worshipped for so long.
A couple of these tunes wound up on Music for Gurms. Nice to finally hear a decent live recording of High Priest. It must have been a bitch to stay in sync with the tape! Talk about bravery. . . Thanks!
Cheap Tricks most artistic moment was the writing and recording of ASU. I want an official release of superior quality live ASU. GO FOR THE THROAT is my favorite ASU track.
Like so many, I have been waiting for this one with baited breath. As an appreciator of live music, these snapshots of moments in time are really special to me. ASU is a musical triumph and this will be thoroughly enjoyed from top to bottom many times! If we are blessed with BUSTED AT BUDOKAN, I don't know what I will do! (hint hint). THANK YOU!
saw this tour in Baltimore. UFO opened. Wish it was in stereo, but still very cool to hear. I remember Robin playing keyboard. Also when they broke out Bun E masks for "Who d King"
The photograph looks like their set at headliners in Madison Wisconsin in late 1980 where they were warming up this material. Rick was wearing the same T-shirt at any rate… They would show up at clubs billed as The Horny Bulls or The Randy Man Band. I still have an article from the capital times newspaper in Madison about that show
I remember seeing this tour in 1981 at the Oakland auditorium in Oakland, CA. UFO was the opening act and there was a big banner in the balcony that said "Cheap Trick sucks UFO 4ever" but I thought CT was awesome even though Tom Petersson wasn't in the band anymore. Great show!!!!!!! 👍
I was a big AC DC fan when I first heard CT on Mtv with She's Tight and learned to love you guys more so Love Comes A Tumblin' has always been in my top 5...Never got to hear it live before. I always enjoyed this album.Thank you... Also, Ever since the Silver concert (Which you ended up conducting) I have wondered how they shut you off at the end of Who D King... Now I know how it ends. 😁
Thank YOU THANK YOU for the ASU compilation. I saw this tour as it rolled into Los Angeles CA at the Fabulous Forum on 12/30/80. It was an amazing show and was the 2nd time I saw Cheap Trick. It would rock my world if you’d put that show up! It’s kicked everyone’s ass that night!
I believe that Robin was at the peak of his vocal powers on this album.
Hearing High Priest Of Rhythmic Noise live makes me so happy.
"Stop This Game" is always a great opener,Thanx!!!
Bun E.’s drumming here is spectacular!
Very very underrated album with some deep-cut gems.
My fave Trick album...sublime!🥰
What did I do right in this life to deserve this? Bun E & Steve are amazing! Portland's Paramount Theater (2nd night), my first Cheap Trick show!
"All Shook Up" album is a tour de force! I play it loud and consistently to this day.
Me too!
@@MikeBrown-lh4ex Very unique collection of songs. A sonic powerhouse....always hope for an expanded version with outtakes....
Zander's voice is just unbelievable during this period. There's just no let up. Some of Rick's parts remind me of Townsend here.
They were definitely firing on all 8 cylinders in this era! The ASU Tour was awesome! Saw it in Los Angeles CA!

WHOA! Amazing, to say the least. Thank you!!
Holy grail!
Damn Straight!’

DAMN is this a great album. Bun E is on FIRE on this one... love this comp of live tracks. Thank you for posting it!!
Pete Comita = unsung hero.
He gave Rick a run for his money on stage!
Very nice. Thanks Bun and Steve.

"bated," not "baited." Let's get it together out there, people.
Wow, sorry to have offended you so much that you felt the need to correct me on UA-cam.

You’re absolutely right!
You are correct, this photo is from a small venue not the All shook up tour
Phenomenal !
This is just incredible!!!!
Great concept. Keep up the great posts

@@RogerHurlburt-ym7wi if you are asking who opened the show, it was UFO.
UFO opened the show for Cheap Trick

Love me some ASU!
I think I was at these shows. Did Off Broadway open?
Who da King was when the drum choir came out

There was more songs, right?
yes
@@BunEsBasementBootlegs lol...can you play them?
The entire set was amazing. It had songs from the rest of their catalogue.
Is that pete comita being a fake tom Peterson
Lol 🎯 😆 🤣 #kingofthe12string #tompetersson
I’ve seen the band many many times, but sometimes they sounded so sloppy. I blame Rick. I Love You Honey here sounds like an absolute train wreck
