saw these guys at summerfest in mke in "75. a relatively small stage propped up on cinderblocks. the amps faced south. bayview got a great show that night.
In July 1976, Cheap Trick opened at County Stadium for Heart and Gary Wright (maybe another band as well). I had no clue that they hadn't released an album at that time. I didn't go that concert, but friends of mine said that they blew everyone else away that day.
From this show to the first official release of a studio version of "You Talk Too Much" was a span of nearly 7 years (the song was on the cassette version (and later the CD version) of "Next Position Please", first released in August of 1983).
Always wondering how they managed the choice of material for each of first three albums. All in the book or nearly before recording 1st album in 76. Moreover, once again, great job of archivist/archaeologist (at your choice) ...and thanks
I cannot think of a single band where 3 of 4 members who were with the band since the 70s are still in tact and still are so good. Cheap trick are in a league of their own.

It baffles me to see Maroon 5 get all the plaudits when those guys would still get blown off the stage by Cheap Trick in 2024.
I appreciate this. Great drumming and songs Bun!

I believe the song listed as Hot Tomato is actually the song Tonight?
This song IS “Hot Tomato.” A couple of years later, parts were used for “I’ll Be With You Tonight” on the Dream Police LP.
Before it underwent many changes it was called Hot Tomato.
@acdc1228 then what song is this?

@@bjkahuna Bun and I made errors with that track. It is now noted as the original version of Tonight.
@Bun E’s Basement Bootlegs thank you so much for posting these!
