- The Odyssey travels to Orilla upon the request of the Asgard who then offer to upgrade the Odyssey before their mass suicide. However, three Ori warships soon arrive. After jumping through hyperspace attempting to lose the Ori warships their shields eventually fail, and their only chance to save the ship is to activate a Time dilation field, wherein SG-1 remain trapped for fifty years, whilst Carter attempts to develop a solution or escape to their predicament.

A detail of this show that made it great was just how different every race’s ships looked. The Goa’uld, Asgard, Ori, and Ancient ships all were completely different from each other. Then the human ships, which were largely built from tech adapted from other races, looks like a combination of Asgard and Ancient, while the fighters look distinctly like Goa’uld fighters. Just a nice touch.
Looking like Ancient ships makes no sense though.
Apart from a couple of interesting tidbits from O'Neill while he had an Ancient repository in his brain they have basically no direct tech of the Ancients except for the Stargate itself.
Daedalus looks like any late 20th century navy cruiser but in space, only Odyssey has that mixed look.
The fighters were based on the two gliders that SG1 were using when Nasa had to taxi them home, so it makes sense
Replicator ships too

If the Asgard didn't have other problems to worry about like solving their cloning problem, they would give Ori a run for their money.
They would demolish the Ori.
@Lacuna Leora Nope, these weapons on this ship are asguard upgrades and they took out the ori pretty effortlessly Imagine if the ship was built with all state of the art asguard tech and there was a fleet of them.
@Lacuna Leora One thing you have to remeber too... these weapons were slapped together on top of earth's combination of other alien and Go'uld tech. A true Asguard battle cruiser would be far more capable than an earth vessel with inferior weapon supporting tech. Either way... night night ori. As for the Ori being a dig at religion, In some of the episodes they were compared to the devil and the Ascended ancients compared to the Angels. So, not a dig at religion at all but merely an explanation of the origin of religions.
so asguard technology is stronger than ori ?
@@atuck6082 nah. Kvasir's ship was easily picked off in the battle of P3Y-229. It took all human ingenuity to slap together tech from all alliances + ZPMs to go this far.
It's always comforting to know that if you can't out-power them, just eff with time until you can outsmart them.
*Until an alien civilization outsmarts them and then blows themselves up for some reason while you take all the glory, you mean.
@@neolexiousneolexian6079 Whatever works. They chose us as their successors.
Actually, near as I can tell, the Odyssey was man handling those Ori Ships and that somehow the third one was getting a lucky hit, I've actually seen this episode, really like it.
@@kaeajaThe way I saw it, the Asgard beam weapon was just as deadly as the Ori beam and since the Ori have more ships, the odyssey was doomed to lose this battle of attrition.
What bothers me is that in Ark of Truth, the Odyssey take MINUTES of ori beam barrages, that's just not canon in my head.
1:34 Teal'c: "Ori, I've come to bargain."
Lmao
Indeed.

What a Strange thing to say
This is always so bittersweet for me. I should have been happy SG1 finally got the advanced technology they need to defend Earth but I was so sad to say goodbye to my favourite show after 10 years.

Season 10
The Ori destroy a Asgard ship at the battle of the supergate, the Asgard develop beam technology and pass it all on to the Tauri allowing their ships to decimate Ori and Wraith vessels.
I don't now why they had to rapidly commit mass suicide, they could have had their fleet destroy the Ori ships in both the Milky Way and Ori galaxy before ending themselves.
No, the Asgard ship during the battle of supergate survived. It just that their ion weapons were largely ineffective so Asgard designed a beam weapong against Ori shields.
I dont get why they suicided over all they could have Tried to use one of the dna resequencer and do Experiments With it.
I Loved the asgaard, i hated to See them destroying there Planet and themselfs 😭😣
@@ch45e21 asgard was the coolest race never cared much for the tok'ra they always came off as shady remember O'Neal being blended so he could be cured of the ancient virus
@@ch45e21 The reason why they killed themselves was explained in the show.
Bad explanation. How about, oh, I don't know CYBERBODIES? Seriously, seen it in the show. But nah, writers.
1:10 I really like the sound effects of the Asgard Weapons.
Before: Hallowed are the Ori
After: Hollowed are the Ori
Kids: hallowed are the sm-ori
Awesome video, it was such a good feeling to watch the Odyssey destroy the first Ori ship.
its also powered by a zpm, thats why the beam weapons charges so fast, and can shoot multiple times.
@@thehantavirus no the asgard beam weapon can be charge to fire multiple time but he need more time to reload without ZPM
not the first, first was literally killed by a stargate
I would have loved to have seen that Priors face when that first asgard beam hit.
The Tau'ri have adapted Gou'ald, Asguard, Ancient, and even some Ori technology quite well. The new series (please let it come out) needs more of The Nox and finally introduce the Furlings, the Wormhole Xtreme bit is all we have of them
Do you remember Stargate the ark of truth.....the odyssey shields against 4 ori is simply unbelievable...imagine if they were firing the beam weapons....
Dont put too much hope into the new SG series. Sadly its made in our time where all movies/series get politicized and gendercized until they become nothing but a sad shell for these toxic agendas...
But it would be nice if they surprise us with something that is really worthy to maintain the SG legacy.
And rescue the stargate universe people too
Furlings are extinct. You've seen the remains of their corpses in the SG1 episode where O'Neill and Maybourn get stranded on a moon.
@@titotitotito Yeah, now that I think about it... Destiny's FTL was nowhere near as sophisticated as Asgard hyperdrives... it might take a while, but surely an Earth ship could catch up to them in even ten or twenty years...
1:06 odyssey here was bad ass....if only the shield held up a bit longer....the ori must have been like....dam...these tauri ships are tough
as o neill would say " love those guys"
Asgard should have had a massive fleet to destroy the Ori and take the war into the Ori Galaxy.
This is one of my fav episodes but it makes me cry so much
I love these Upgrade.
Now the Tau'ri are the most advanced Space Travel Race since the Ori are gone !!!
Its crazy how big the Ori ships. For reference, the of the odyssey docking bays could probably fit like 2000 people packed together, and the whole ship is like a 10th of the size of an ori ship.

best series ever! creative and very cool
years later i really miss stargate sg1.
Nice.
The Ori shields and main gun are as powerful as they are because they are _powered by the Ori._
The Odyssey doesn't even have a ZPM in this fight. Just Asgard systems, including plasma beams!
Oh yeah, and a time field. TIID KLO UL!
its already been shown they have a power generator in a large room, which provide zero point energy to the whole ship.
Pretty sure they are powered by some kind of singularity which is that bright thing in the center of the ring.
"You can't hurt me, I can quick save!"
Behold the power of QUICKSAVE!
Yep, now I need to read the rule book and see if I can find a key combo that lets me escape since I am on hardcore and can't just respawn.
1:25 Somebody must have hit the Pause/Break button on the keyboard.
This blue planet needs more of those odysey type space ships .so certain crystals can be grown . They are building right now . There are many who desire having that technology for flights across universe .
lol I'm watching this now, and it just hit me.... When the Ori first came through the Supergate the Asgard ship that was there was as useless as anyone else.... now Asgard Beams annihilate them? huh?
As time progressed the Asgard developed a weapon that could damage them. The Asgard were arguably as advanced as the ancients.
During the super stargate battle, the Asgard sensors on one of the 304'S detected a shield fluctuation in the Ori mother ship when they fire their main weapon. Perhaps the Asgard used this analysis to develop this weapon because they stated the beam weapons caused shield fluctuations after each hit.
Odyssey was outfitted with the latest in Asgard technology - the beam weapons were brand new, and likely developed with the outcome of the battle of P3Y-299 in mind (Where an O'Neill class ship was present, but ineffective). The Asgard likely had this system in development when they realized that they wouldn't have much time left, and so wanted to give the Tauri something to protect against the onslaught of the Ori.
That ship probably gathered valuable data from the lost battle and based on that data Asgards probably came up with new weapons which could destroy Ori motherships
Dont know if you noticed but after that battle the only ship that was undamaged was the asgard ship.
@@skilightcomics4421 um, was talking about weapons, not shields.
And you others had good points.
When you think about it The Asgard had access to all of the Ancient technology, that's why they had the ability to destroy the Ori ships with out any issues.
The series shows human projectile weapons, Gou'ld plasma bolt weapons, Asgard plasma beam weapons, Ori energy beam weapons, ancient pulse weapons, and wraith particle beam weapons. The pros and cons of these weapons and how effective they are against certain adversaries was used to narrative effect. Engineering is what gets weaponized and there is something to be said about constraints and maturing systems into proven technology. You can't wing it to win it. Weaponizing science leads to the microwave oven, not the microwave weapon.
One of the greatest moment is destruction of the ori battleship
Killing the Asgard off was the most unnecessary thing that happened in this show lol
they low-key brought it back as the vanir.
I hope they figured out a means to shield the Asgard core from being detected
Watch ark of truth.
They did. not that it mattered, the Ori were neutralised anyway. Though you absolutely would not leave it on a ship! You'd rip it out and install it in the most secure and well defended facility you had! Also you'd copy all the data and back it up on many different planets.
While other Ori ships were likely in the overall region, it seemed odd to me that Landry didn't take out the other two ships before heading home.
They were destroyed when the Asgard world blew up.
I liked the Asgard. It's too bad they had that cloning fading issue, not to mention the Replicators themselves...if they had been able to devote all their resources to R&D instead of just trying to stay alive one day longer...they would been the successors to the Ancients methinks.
Anyone know the music/song that starts playing at 1:00 ?
Have you ever seen the rain, by Credence Clearwater Revival
That is 100% not the correct song haha@@stargatefan10
Ksavir's ship was present at the battle when the Ori ships entered the Milky Way and didn't make a dent. But, apparently, Asgard beam weapons can destroy Ori ships...and why weren't they helping?
It could be that the O'Neill class were designed for going against the replicators and the beam weapons were useless against the replicators.
Haven’t seen the show. Did they destroy earth?
The asgard should have gave SG the O'neil class ships
Like the Asguard couldn't have developed better than ori CME weapons
Did the asgardians entire knowledge and tech was given to humans or did the asgardians gave them selected technology?
The sum of all their knowledge. The Asgard core has everything.
Pretty much everything that the Asgard had they gave to us, with the goal that in time we would introduce the technology to our world and become what the galaxy needed us to be: defenders and guardians
All of it, they were destroying themselves and saw no need any longer to keep tech from humans after they had basically saved the Asgard from their worst enemy anyways.
SGC: We built a spaceship.
Fans: Yes!
SGC: It's most powerful weapons only fire forward.
Fans: ...God effing dammit! Why are you being intentionally stupid?
SGC: Our writers don't understand space combat or tactics.
Fans: ...Oh, right. I forgive the SGC, not the writers.
That wasn't Earth that blew up back there was it?
No, it was Orilla. The Asgard homeworld.
PURGE THE XENO FOR THE EMPEROR
Xenu is Goauld system lord of the Lronhubbard solar system. This is the Ori, completely different
Frankly saying - Asgard mass suicide is kinda really awkward if I rememer their motives correctly and it boggled me when I was a kid. Like wtf? They could at least share their knowledge with their allies (humans), instead of just suiciding lol
As I recall they did, Oddyssey was carrying a complete record of all Asgard knowledge in the data core. What makes no sense to me is that the Asgard had ships and there was no apparent destruction of them, so why not donate the fleet to Humanity? Not like Humans didn't have a use for them, the Ori, the Replicators, the remaining Gou'ld, who knows who else?
@@AdamKafei yeah that’s what I was referring, not just knowledge
Don’t remember about odyssey, but why did they still have so many issues with everyone if they had all the technology from super-advanced race?
And yeah, knowing something doesn’t mean that you can build it without infrastructure and production powers and needed materials (pretty rare I bet), which all may take like decades to build and accumulate to be able to normally use all this info (probably that’s the answer to the first question lol)
@@Afdog The obvious out of universe answer would have to be narrative tension and actually viable threats. As for in universe, my guess would be a combination of time, resources and political will/conflict. I'd suggest something similar as to why Humanity apparently hasn't colonised at least half a dozen worlds in the years that SG1 spans.
Hallowed are not the ori,in desrepect 😊
How annoying - you cut out all the dialog.
this was such a huge screw up...you never attack an enemy without having the high ground... they left themselves wide open for attack from above by not maneuvering above the other Ori ship...that is dog fighting 101
theres no high ground in space
@@kevinforget549 oh I didn't know space is a 2 dimensional plane
Also wrong. In space there is no up or down, both ships could be seen as "above" one another from their perspective.
@@kevinforget549 you are talking about gravity or the perception of gravity ...but gravity is present even in space ..the sun the planets the stars the galaxies all exert a pull whether or not you are aware of it....how can you think such an absurd idea ? A point in space has 3 spatial reference point.. X, Y, Z Axis are just as applicable in space as they are on a planet surface if that were not true there would be no means of navigation outside Earth's atmosphere ...
xadam2dudex lol dumb redditor u are
Something I've never understood about this is the odyssey in being tracked by the ori and keep getting attacked wherever they go. Why not go home to earth? The ori know where earth is just don't go there because of the ancient outpost...
That will be a bad, very bad strategy, because if you lose then you will lose earth itself, you will be left with nothing but an alpha site with a few thousand people. Tau'ri as a race will be done.
They had years to solve the problem and they didn't need fancy time reversal. They could have fixed all the damage to the ship in a few weeks, they should have been able to get the shields back up to full even if they had to charge them slowly. They had enough energy to spare that they could waste on materialising cellos out of nothing.
If for some technobullshit reason they couldn't get the shields back up, they could have built a tunnel through the hull for the energy beam to pass through then sodded off into hyperspace. Or added a load of armour plating, or materialised a solid block of iron in the beams path.
There are so many potential solutions that they apparently never considered, they just sat on their arses for 50 odd years wasting energy.
I agree. Instead of wasting 50 years on trying to dodge the shot, sped a few years in fixing and even upgrading the ship’s systems.
Ships can't bank like that in space. Also if you enter a planet's orbit like that without matching vertical velocity you'll just fall out of the sky.
BioCyberNaught well if you want to talk real scuence, laser beams wouldn't just disappear after a certain range, they would go on forever until they hit something...also, they would be almost impossible to dodge because they travel at the speed of light.
Stargate Fan the ships only apply thrust in one direction meaning they can't manuver or slow. Also their engins seem to always be firing so the ships are constantly accelerating.
Dont freaking care ! It's a tv serie. Bet you sit and destroy all movies you watch , picking em apart with "logic" :P
Shit just happens in fiction now and then, that is why its called fiction ! it's not real ! :P
Yea sure, but doing it in a complaining manner so to speak , when its done in a tv serie or tv is just the wrong place to do it. If you like to talk about theory and such and what could in be real or not thats is fine. But should be done to those only interested in hearing about it. Because people usual allready knows this and dont care .
I could also sit and complane each time they split up in a horror movies , which is pretty stupid when you know people keep turning up missing or killed around you. Or when people in various movies walk alone towards a wierd unknowen scary sounds in a dark location alone, when they know there is dangerous things about allready. Or why do the good guys allways have a light / flashlight turned on when they try find the criminal in the dark in police/crime series, not hard for the bad guy to spot em come a mile away then. And so on and so forth there is plenty of things not logic in movies. But that would also be anoying for people near me. Because they allready know this aswell.
Besides all technogic in that tv series can basicly be traced back to some episode somewhere along the entire tv serie where it was discovered and explaned, and as far i recall they actualy hade a technology to swing around like that.
or they have super advanced thrusters and anti gravity systems.
