I love the crucial moment of teamwork between Daniel, Teal'c and Vala within that moment. As soon as Adria said "Origin", Daniel figured it out, which was immediately noticed by both Vala and Teal'c who immediately went into action on both their parts. Vala knew she had to distract Adria and Teal'c needed to knock over the pedestal as soon as Daniel activated the device. Shows the close cohesion and bond they share as a team to be able to act upon a plan without even communicating.
Julian Sands was a great actor. His career like many others had wound down by the time he appeared in Stargate. The circumstances of his death are sad and tragic.
As an actor, he was one of the all time great character actors and was the glue that held the work together and instantly elevated the script. While his death was tragic as he perished while hiking on a mountain, he still died doing what he loved to the very end. When doing extreme hobbies like that. I'm sure he knew the risks that when you going on mountain hikes, there is no guarantee you are coming back.
Great line "With the fate of 2 galaxies on the line yes I expect you to remember!" A lot of action, well made storyline, and great battles during this arc
Something to think about - The Doci has been part of the Ori faith for thousands, possibly millions of years. He's helped with the deaths of billions, possibly trillions. And now he learns that everything he has dedicated his entire existence to is a lie, that he was conned from the very beginning. Now you can understand why he is crying.
I think it’s probably centuries if not millennia. But yeah, no he realised the horrific acts he ordered to be performed. Not only on his fellow humans of both galaxies, but the other civilisations of his own. I wouldn’t be surprised if he took his own life, rather than live with the guilt.
The activation code for the Ark of Truth was ORIGIN, which was, as said in this film, ironic since that false faith was what made the Ori powerful and became the very thing that depowered and finally defeated them.
Always love watching this scene right after watching the episode the Pegasus Project... Morgan stresses that she cant help more than she is, as the other ancients will stop her... only for her to try and they do exactly as she predicted they would... And now... she FINALLY is able to do what she has wanted but unable to do for ages... step in and TAKE ACTION. Love it.
It's just because they are in a different galaxy here. She probably wouldn't have been able to reach the "material plan" in the Milky Way considering the Ancients banished her from it.
Every time Morgan appears, she steals the scene!! In this video, her entrance, her two lines and, especially, that subtle smirk are perfect; not too little, not too much.😊
@@Dante-vf4sd The only other time we've seen an ascended being versus an ascended being, was Oma vs Anubis. So, unless you've got evidence that dictates otherwise, we could only go by that.
That last prior was played by Doug Abrahams, who also played one of the leaders of Jonas Quinn's home planet - the one who made a deal with Anubis and betrayed SG-1, only to be killed moments later by Herak.
More accurately deprogrammed. The ark rebrainwashes people, it just imposes truth instead of lies on the minds of those exposed. They did not come to their believes by normal introspection and reason and thought. We are all programmed by our genes and by the structures of our brain (which themselves are programmed by our social and material environment). Without the ark, the Ori would likely have been unable to reprogram themselves because Ori programming was just so deeply ingrained, so rebrainwashing and forcing a new mindset was necessary, but it was still force and brainwashing.
Sorry. One ascended being vs another ascended being, will be locked in eternal stalemate. Anubis and Oma are the only example of this, but they made it clear, that one could not destroy the other. Only fight each other till the end of existence itself
First we'd have to know the truth and we are in a post truth world where facts don't matter, alternative facts that serve each person's world view does.
The most powerful weapon of any weapon; to be able to instantly imprint what you perceive as truth and reality on others; giving them your point of view as an undeniable objective fact.
Actually no. It can’t make people believe that Origin is true. What fact you want people to believe in HAS to be fundamentally true. @Profezor Snayp. Is it that bad really? Considering what the Ori were having their followers do? The Ori whole heartily believed in Convert or Die, horribly.
@@Gothic7876 Exactly, it didn't make people believe that Origin is true, it did quite the opposite; it forced them to believe that it wasn't true. As it just so happened, Origin was a lie all along, but the ark doesn't know that, it is a tool for converting people to your opinion. And that is the power of the ark right there, to be able to manipulate the mind into believing whatever truth you want them to believe; it basically rewrites their perception of reality. Creepy as fuck. ^^
@@Gothic7876 It's not only bad, it's immoral. Even if used in good intentions it is wrong. Imposing your will on someone by force is wrong. It is the lesser evil, I know that, but still evil.
No you have it wrong. Whatever you want people to believe HAS to be true. Not what you perceive to be true, but a fundamental truth. So it couldn’t be used to make people believe the Earth is flat for example. Adria tried to make it indoctrinate people into believing in Origin, it failed. @Profezor Snayp Sometimes there are no good options. It was the least worst option. The others involve Genociding a majority of the humans in the Ori Galaxy. They could NOT be negotiated with. It was Convert or Die. They legitimately believe that it was justified, that those who didn’t follow Origin deserved to die. Horribly. So it’s more immoral not to use the Ark if it could prevent mass death. Allowing people to die to protect your precious “morals” is highly immoral and naive. For example the US tried everything else before dropping the Atom Bombs, but they had to because Imperial Japan just wouldn’t surrender.

Anyone who's seen this movie noticed how POWERFUL Odyssey's shields where against the 4 ori ships...I mean..imagine what the outcome would have been if Apollo went head on against the 7 ori ships in milky way galaxy.....I'd love to have seen that battle actually happen...especially with asgard beam weapons...
The reason Odyssey's shields were so strong here is A) Probably almost all power was diverted to them, and none to engines or weapons B) The Odyssey has a ZPM and a powerful Asgard Power Source in the Core, neither of which the Apollo has. The Apollo could probably only take a few shots like the Odyssey at the Supergate. Between the Apollo and the ancient defense platform Earth could possibly hold out against 4ish Ori ships, but they were sending a fleet of 7. They would have lost...
The Daedalus was able to deflect a focused coronal mass ejection while they had a ZPM tied into their power grid... If every earth ship had a few of those, and sabotaged stargates to deploy as planet-destroying mines, one shudders to think of the wmd potential of other corrupted or incomplete Ancient technology....
@@jeeshadow1 It was shown in one of the Season 10 episodes about an Alternate Reality, that the Ancient Weapons platform could, in fact, deal with an Ori fleet. Arguing about how many would not be very productive, as we have no information aside from that one episode how the Drones do against an Ori Mothership. If Odyssey stayed at Earth, I would imagine that they should've been able to take out the fleet of 7 ships. Odyssey took out two ships when they retreated from the Ida-Galaxy in the final episode of Season 10. I would imagine, if using the cloak to sneak up behind the fleet and then firing all weapons, they should be able to take out two initially, evening the odds for a straight up engagement a bit. However, it would've just created a similar situation as against the Wraith: No matter how many ships you take out, they just send more. And Earth only has a limited number of ZPM's and Drones. They have no idea how many Ori-ships there are in the Milky Way and how many more are waiting in the Ori-galaxy - with the four ships appearing very quickly in the movie, one would assume that they had a lot of those ships back at home. They send four ships in the first and 9 ships in the second wave - with three being destroyed overall in season 10 and one sent back. So they should have at least 9 ships remaining in the Milky way - and the time-span of several episodes left to have sent more reinforcements off screen. From a strategic point of view, they should've not shut off the jumped Supergate. There were only three ships left and with Daniels help they were able to capture one. At that point, Ori-troops were probably stretched very thin already. And at one point the Asgard Beam weapons would've shown up and Odyssey should've been able to destroy the remaining two ships. Turning off the Gate and killing the Ori on the other end accelerated the Ori-invasion by a lot. They would've been much better at dealing with reinforcements if they waited on the Asgard lasers, install them on all their vessels and then picking off the ships one by one as they did against the Replicators in Season 4 of SGA. And it's not like Merlin's weapon would've been lost. They still could've sent it through the supergate later.
@@r6u356une56ney He means the Apollo, the fourth Daedalus Class ship put into service. It first showed up in the finale of Season 3 of Atlantis, which would've taken place around the same time as the end of Season 10 of SG-1.

Kinda hoping the other Ancients would give old Morgan a helping hand. And Oma too, although I suspect they'd give her a few thousand years of fighting Anubis for her bad behaviour.
@@DeusExMJ12 They are, they just keep to the hard rule "non-interference at all costs". If it steps into their territory of "powerful" then they intervene, but in other cases they dont. They are simply called the "Others" cause they are not like Omah, Morgan, Merlin, other ancients that interacted in any way with non-ascended beings. It is unclear if the ancients were the "first" to ascend, but given their power an authority, they can stop fellow ascendants from doing stuff they don't like, such as when Omah stopped Daniel from obliterating Anubis (if she didnt, they would an it would have been worse). And like the ancient that helped Carter, his memory regression to that of a child, their doing. Anubis was considered a "special case" for them, since they somehow couldnt make him fully go back to being mortal, they gave him an ultimatum "you can use your knowledge if you acquired it the natural way (find a document to explain how you would know instead of simply knowing), and if you did anything is ascendant-like, then we would stop you, permanently", hence why he was allowed to roam free, he walked that fine line. They do however seem hypocritical of other situations. Some tech that was their tech, they'll intervene on, but others they wont bother with. Like banning a submachine gun, but not banning a minigun. Generally, the "Others" make up laws an rules that they just "decide" is fair. They make up their mind on something, they'll never change their mind on the subject. Ironic that the Ark works by shooting a powerful beam of light, considering the Doci and the priors are blind. Guess there's a telepathic component as well, and the light is just for show.
No quite that ironic. I personally know a few blind persons, some from birth others becoming so later, and at least some of both has stated how they have some sense of light and dark. And, correct me if I'm wrong, both the Doci and the Priors is converted from ordinary humans; essentially becoming blind in their adulthood.
The priors and the Doci are not blind; It's that the process of partial Ascension/evolution that they were given to make them the emissaries of the Ori bleaches their skin, their hair and their eyes, as well as leaves them with symbols from the Book on their skin, Probably as a way to make clear that the person was touched by the Ori (or their minions) and should not be disobeyed. It's also a bit of intimidation / Showmanship; if you were a civilization at or around a medieval level of technology and understanding and suddenly a man who appears blind and bleached white appears and starts showing off powers and reading from his holy book, you would be frightened and in awe, or at the very least intrigued by this clearly special person, enough to listen to his words. Reason I know they are not blind is that there are too many points where the Priors are clearly looking at people for them to be blind, and earlier in the movie we see a Prior (the royal asshole from the village that Vala was stuck in when she blew up the first Supergate, amusingly enough) grab a Ori Soldiers staff weapon and use it, meaning that the Priors CAN see, otherwise he wouldn't be able to aim it.
I always assumed they ran out of money for this scene, which is why it was filmed in a small, relatively low budget-looking set, and the climatic action is a table falling over.
I honestly take satisfaction that the usually neutral ioa are forced to apologise beacuse for once they're being held accountable for their secret plan of using the replicators to defeat the ori, but that backfired so badly that it not only almost botched the mission to defeating the ori but almost causing a second replicator war, their screw up is bigger than all the previous sg-1's teams past screw ups combind
I dont know... Vala or the actress play her is the only person i know who look old but cute at the same time... we like her and she is a fine addition to sg1
Adria was killed in this scene. She and Morgan went for the kill in this fight and killed each other after about 10 seconds. Oma and Anubis are locked in an eternal battle because Anubis lacks the ability to kill an ascended being and Oma was blocked from being able to kill Anubis by the Ancients. Battling him for eternity was her penance for the reckless behavior that led to him ascending in the first place. Morgan and Adria faced no such constraints and were able to go for killing blows against each other. You can see them attacking each other and then them kinda exploding.
Better, both win just to see each other (battle ready ascended being), thinks it's another enemy (Anubis don't know about Ori and to Adria he looks just like another Antic, every other higher being should be her enemy after all) so they start fight each other. Morgana and Oma who lose where meanwhile rescued by Others who planed whole thing. Oma starts eating popcorn. Everyone who aren't fighting to dead look at her. "What, I learned this from Daniel. It's great!" Everyone try it too.

So... Adria still had her power from the followers in Milky Way... So Morgan should have no been a match for her... She should have attacked her after they showed the Ark to the Prior in Milky Way...
DLordSadow Well that's what makes even less sense... I know what you're saying and why you're saying it but that's like one of the biggest plot holes in the Ori arc. Ascended beings are supposed to exist beyond space and time... So them "being in one galaxy" and "not knowing about people in another galaxy" made really no sense... And it also made no sense that the Priors never came to Pegasus. Why Are We Still Here? It was less power than originally, yes... But Morgan had no followers, so Adria still should have had more power than Morgan.
"Ascended beings are supposed to exist beyond space and time" Nobody ever said that. They're just not made of matter, but energy. Other than that, they're just like us, not gods. As for Morgan vs Adria, Morgan has been an ascended being for much longer, maybe she knows more and her power is stronger by default.
Wait what? Nobody ever said that? I've thought I heard this somewhere on the show... I've thought this for years! Where did this idea come from then? Hmmm :-/
Domihork The show's always been a bit vague about that. Early on, ascended beings like Oma are seen needing to use the stargate to travel vast distances. But then again, when Daniel was offered ascension a second time, Oma plucked him from the Replicator ship with seemingly no issue. I think it definitely makes more sense for them to be at least partially constrained by the vast emptiness of space, and there's certainly evidence in the show to support that understanding.
Earth defeated not two but three galactic empires. The ori, the empire of the gould system lords and the replicators attacking the asguardians. They also helped to defeat the replicators of the Pegasus galaxy before they could become an empire in their own right and a very great threat to the milky-way and Pegasus galaxies.

IT's both clear and mysterious. Anyone who has ever done research to reveal some new unbefore known of truth knows how those priors felt. I just wish we knew what that "truth" was. The truth that any being could ascend and be "god" in that universe?
This is really sad considering all they they gave their lives to was a lie but the fact that the Alterans gave them mercy with the ark only showing the truth instead of wiping them out said alot about their character.
So Ive been thinking, Adria had all the power but in that short moment she could not stop the ark from falling over? She had at least 2 seconds time to catch it, this is enough to activate her hyper super ultra ori telekenesis abilities is it not?.....
Both the Ori and the Ancients messed up so many times on so many levels... Too much confident in their powers that they forgot about still having some human weaknesses. Your powers and weapons are useless, if you do not use them at the right moment.
If the weapon was created many millions of years ago why didnt the ori have the whole galaxey ruled cos they didnt have ships before or care about anything but there own planets only when SG-1 came about lol
Jamie Fisher They didn't know about it. As Daniel pointed out in one episode, the universe is a big place for the ori to keep track of. That's why the ori didn't know about the Milky Way until Daniel and Vala activated the long range communication device
The Ancients/Alterans hid the Milkyway galaxy from the Ori to stop them from interfering with humans. Then Daniel and Vala activated the ancient communication device. Which was considered, by the Ancients, free will by the people of the Milkyway in contacting the Ori. Thus the Ancients stopped hiding the Milkyway from the Ori. Then you get the nice Prior coming to convert you or you can get a wonderful plague instead.
@@rangeronevalen that pretty much sums it up only the real reason was that Ori were unintentionally made aware of Alterans existence in Milky way by Vala and Daniel and eversince the war/genocide between Ori and Alterans was about to break out, whilst the Alterans left the Ori galaxy, the Ori rose to great power and numbers (as mentioned by female alteran at the beginning) and they very quickly decided to eliminate Alteran enemy once and for all.. it was very convenient for them to act upon that revelation, inadvertantly caused by Vala.. btw. I try to have sympathy for the Poriors and the followers of the Ori but they did horrific things willingly in the name of the Ori and they need to be held accountable.
After they were exposed to the truth about the Ori there were no doubt a huge number of suicides amongst the Priors over how they'd been deceived and the many, MANY crimes they'd committed in service of their Ori masters.

Ending was a cop out. There should have been extra seasons of SG1. The Milky Way alliance and Asgard with the high power beam weapons destroying all the Ori Ships and taking the war into the Ori Galaxy and finally conquering the Ori homeworld with Ancients stepping in and the activating the Ark of Truth
The star gage might not be real. Yet. That's one of the things I work on. But the ancients and ascension are most definitely real. Concious agents within and as spacetime itself what we call demons and angels
How come these ark and the weapon that wiped out the Ori only affect ancients within that galaxy? Ancients and Ori were on a higher level but they still respect galaxy boundaries? Yet Morgan can just hop over as soon as she needs to?
I'm guessing it was like a range thing. The weapon is like a galaxy wide nuke for ascended beings. The ancients in our galaxy were out of range from the device. As far as Morgan goes, I think its not too difficult for ascended beings to travel across galaxies. I mean Adria died and ascended in the milky way but here she was in the Ori galaxy. My big question is why didn't Adria re arm the weapon and set it off as soon as she came back to the Milky way?
Morgan simply used the Supergate. We know she was in the milky way planting dreams to them, and we know ascended can travel through the Stargate, so she probably followed them when they went to the Ori galaxy..
She needed sg1 to do the leg work she couldn't interfere until it became a fair fight with Adria. If she interfered before Adria lost power she may of been stopped by the other ancients. Once the power was gone now Morgana was enforcing the ancients asended law or whatever.
Just imagine how useful it would be to have some sort of ark like this to show to the people afflicted with various delusional beliefs in the real world. We could finally rid the world of worship of imaginary mythical beings and all the wasted resources and fighting between them.

Without the ark, the Ori would likely have been unable to reprogram themselves because Ori programming was just so deeply ingrained, so rebrainwashing and forcing a new mindset was necessary, but it was still force and brainwashing.

The most powerful weapon of any weapon; to be able to instantly imprint what you perceive as truth and reality on others; giving them your point of view as an undeniable objective fact.
Aka forced indoctrination.
Actually no. It can’t make people believe that Origin is true. What fact you want people to believe in HAS to be fundamentally true.
@Profezor Snayp.
@Profezor Snayp
Sometimes there are no good options.

Apollo? Do you mean the G'ould Aphophis from the early seasons of SG1? Or the US NASA Apollo capsules from the late 60's and 70's ?
@@r6u356une56ney He means the Apollo, the fourth Daedalus Class ship put into service. It first showed up in the finale of Season 3 of Atlantis, which would've taken place around the same time as the end of Season 10 of SG-1.

Kinda hoping the other Ancients would give old Morgan a helping hand. And Oma too, although I suspect they'd give her a few thousand years of fighting Anubis for her bad behaviour.
@@Milamberinx they won't. The Others are dicks.
@@Gyrannon I always suspected the majority of the "Others" weren't Ancients.
If their humans (they essentially made the humans) were all on the verge of extinction, they would watch it all happen an not care one bit.
@@Gyrannon it's not that they couldn't make him fully mortal again if you watched that arc Daniel Jackson discovered the ancients left him halfway ascended as a punishment for Oma since she helped so many ascend and she was responsible for Anubis the other beings thought the people she helped didn't deserve to ascend yet or weren't ready.

The Doci walking in like a souls boss complete with music too
Ironic that the Ark works by shooting a powerful beam of light, considering the Doci and the priors are blind.
Probably just for exposition
They're not blind. They just have weird eyes.
The priors and the Doci are not blind;
It's that the process of partial Ascension/evolution that they were given to make them the emissaries of the Ori bleaches their skin, their hair and their eyes, as well as leaves them with symbols from the Book on their skin, Probably as a way to make clear that the person was touched by the Ori (or their minions) and should not be disobeyed.
Old is relative, looks pretty good to me.
Imagine if Adria & Anubis both win their never ending accension battles & teamed up together for Stargate season 11

Domihork No, in order to utilize that power she'd have to be either in or near the Milky Way.
"Ascended beings are supposed to exist beyond space and time"
Nobody ever said that.

Given the word was origin and that word in the old dialect also means truth my guess is it was their true origin story.

The Ori probably should have put a bungee cord around the Ark of Truth.
@@rangeronevalen that pretty much sums it up only the real reason was that Ori were unintentionally made aware of Alterans existence in Milky way by Vala and Daniel and eversince the war/genocide between Ori and Alterans was about to break out, whilst the Alterans left the Ori galaxy, the Ori rose to great power and numbers (as mentioned by female alteran at the beginning) and they very quickly decided to eliminate Alteran enemy once and for all.. it was very convenient for them to act upon that revelation, inadvertantly caused by Vala.. btw.
They are on a higher level yes but they still can't teleport as they like around the universe.
She needed sg1 to do the leg work she couldn't interfere until it became a fair fight with Adria. If she interfered before Adria lost power she may of been stopped by the other ancients. Once the power was gone now Morgana was enforcing the ancients asended law or whatever.
Morena Baccarin is such a cutie.
