The shows creator has tweeted that he is trying to get a new stargate project going and it would not be a one off and would be a continuation. But there's a lot of work to be done before any projects gets the go-ahead.
@@sael1337 Did he tweet something about how he thinks Universe could be at least properly ended? I mean, if it's a continuation they really HAVE to give Universe some kind of proper canon ending... even if that means to show the Destiny adrift with all hands either dead or still in stasis. I doubt they'd be able to end the story as planned after Syfy killed it...
9/11 changed who we thought the enemy was, the attacks happened at the start of season 5. Show producers didn't acknowledge the attack or the war until Major John Sheppard showed up and said he was a pilot in Afghanistan, that is the only mention of the post 9/11 world, and by then the Russian cold war "threat" was written out. Interestingly though, they wrote in China and included them into the IOC to create "NEW" antagonist (this also reflects the real life international cooperation to fight global terrorism).
@@Lordturisas1 Given the standard english is closer to the British it would be the correct pronounciation though. (after all American english is just derivate of the British one - the original one) Also other nationalities (European) pronounce it zet/d aswell. I was rather sad to see Chekov killed. He had always been such an interesting character. Sometimes helpful, sometimes a bit biligerent and always looking out for mother Russia.
He was always trying to make sure his Nation was on equal footing, but when push came to shove he was willing to lay his life on the line to defend earth and her allies. A damn good character.
During the battle at the Ori Supergate, at least a dozen or so crew including Dr. Jackson made it off the Korolev right before it was destroyed, and according to known sources, Colonel Chekov's fate is unknown. So there is at least a small likelihood that he survived as well.
this is what I love the most about stargate. They started from the bottom, learned things here and there and picked up on new tech. you see them slowly progressing towards "star trek" level ships and making mistakes along the way. Started with nothing but a shuttle, now we have a fleet!
In some ways the BC-304 surpasses Star Trek, particularly in regards to FTL speeds. In fact, I'm pretty sure that Stargate has the fastest finite speed FTL methods in science fiction.
I love this show , I had a dream once I was interstellar being a million times more powerful than a descended being and was free to do whatever I wanted, and was hundreds of millions years old , and I came across earth and helped the stargate program flourish through everything you see in the TV series I helped them require "free" gau'ld ships and Ori ships and the Atlantis team get Atlantis running again and got rid of replicators that the ancients made and gave replicator planet and technology resources to them and their entire fleet too , so with the all the gau'ld and Ori ships in milky way galaxy under Earth's command and Atlantis and replicator planet and fleet in Pegasus galaxy in their hands earth was doing really great with my assistance and helping them build a galactic domain exploring and learning lol
The show didn't just maeterialise a ship pout of nowhere, viwers saw the individual components beinf researched step by step. Power source, alloys, weapons, drives, propulsion, everything came before the ship itself
I would kill to get another Stargate series. Preferably one that took place a year or so after the Stargate program became public knowledge and Earth began colonizing uninhabited worlds and trading with its allies on a commercial scale. With more war ships and new aliens to be encountered in unexplored areas of the Milky Way and beyond.
I would be glad for more series. But: what else is there to explore? Humans in SG went from pretty much former slaves with primitive technology and luck, to hunters of goaulds, saviours of jaffas, hunters of wraiths, killers of replicators, killers of ori, saviours of two galaxies, successors of asgards and efectivelly became leaders of the universe.
It will inevitably get a reboot within 10 years time. No one has decent original ideas anymore and many kids or adults never saw the original series or have grown up after it ended. Seeing as there are many terrible shows being given a reboot it seems logical to reboot a very successful series but perhaps with twist. We saw them play with timelines so the reboot could be a slightly alternate timeline, reality or parallel universe. It would be easy to set it that the gate wasn't discovered until the present day or the military didn't ge a hold of it till the present time of the new show. They could make it a bit of a darker show as they seem to be the current flavor of show, more realistic and gritty. Would you watch a reboot?
Best thing about the Fleet was .... Col. O'Neill: The name I suggested. Maj. Carter: For the ship? Col. O'Neill: Yeah. Maj. Carter: Yeah, sir, we can't call it the Enterprise. Col. O'Neill: Why not?! Maj. Carter: The project codename is Prometheus. What's wrong with that? Col. O'Neill: It's a Greek tragedy. Who wants that?
@@Knowbody42 Earth does now have the designs for all of those ships so it is possible someone could build one like they would a classic car maybe carter lol
@@henningheinz5916 Same for me. And i miss Teal'C surprised face after listening to O'Neill. Sure it was far from being a perfect show, but damn, i miss the first seasons of SG-1
That little thing between Master Bra'tac when he taps his head. THAT, those little things, they made the series beyond great. Real, tangible. Modern TV shows can't even begin to grasp such concepts. Rest in peace you cuddly old general and your warm actor too, Don S. Davis. Man, and just recently Carmen Argenziano died too. We're getting old.
Carter was a full bird Colonel when she took command of Atlantis which came before the Hammond. Shepherd even mention it in Lifeline when gives her a small salute congratulating her on the promotion.
That's an alternate timeline so the Atlantis may never have been commissioned in the standard timeline. Another ship which could be added was the Aurora class ship Orion. It was used by the Atlantis mission on loan from the Taranians.
@@Catubrannos I think it's about built by the Tau'ri. Otherwise there'd been even more ships. Apart from the city-ship Atlantis, they also had a Ha'tak, which they've loaned to the Tok'ra. And there's Destiny, although this one's debatable. It's inhabited and commanded by people from Earth, but they are basically an own colony, which just follows (most of) the commands/recommendations from Earth's commandeers.
Scipio_Hibernicvs I always thought these ships and the 302s would help in creating a bad as video game. Even something like star trek online. I hope mgm brings back reboots stargate.
It wasn't even that well developed. If it had been, the Navy would have been given command of the fleet, and not the Air Force, as the average sailor has more skills that would be applicable to large spacecraft than any airman in the service. Plus it could have set up some interesting inter-service rivalry, with Air Force teams keeping score with Navy crews.
You'd think MGM would just sell the rights to stargate to Netflix or Amazon etc. They've no interest in continuing the series and haven't been doing much financially for a decade now. I see stargate sitting in storage another decade if they get their way. At least if sold, then the actors from SG1, Atlantis etc are all young enough to return in some capacity still and not be jarring. Also a new show following a new SG1 would be amazing. Imagine how well a show with a new SG1 made up of people from various nations on earth would do. A new refurbished SGC with a modern look and more regular contact between Atlantis and Earth. A new enemy like say the ancients themselves or better yet BRING BACK THE GOULD. there are many ways they can return. I could see a reboot do so well. Could even have Carter running the SGC with Daniel or someone else like Vala still around in some capacity. Tealc making the odd cameo as a leader of the Jaffa Empire. Then have John Shepard running Atlantis appearing every so often. If the show is successful it could allow us to one day even wrap Universe up.
Probably one of the most capable ships ever to be produce, that we know of. The Asurans used ancient Tech and built warships like them. The Asgard Beam weapons cut through them all with relative ease, while the Asgard shields can take a hit or two. Their greatest limiting factor was the underwhelming Naquadria Reactors. If humanity ever gets to the point of making something on the level of a ZPM, the DSC will be a power house warship. The only ship in cannon that can stand off against it was the super hive.
@@Spinikar Atlantis or a ZPM powered Aurora Class Battleship could also stand off against a BC-304. The Ancient Drones are the only weapon in the know universe which is stronger than the Asgard Laser Beam and Lantian/Asuran Energy Shields are the second strongest in the universe, only beaten by Detiny's ultra-advanced shield technology.
@@smoothie9931 it isn't. The Shields of Atlantis and the Aurora Class Battleships have been designed for Combat and use with just 1 (or in case of Atlantis 3) ZPMs. The Destiny has been designed to withstand the extreme gravitational effects, magnetic radiation and heat inside stars and can also protect the ship from the relativistic effects of flying faster than light. There is no other ship in the whole universe which can do that (besides the seed ships obviously). The Destiny could withstand over 40 minutes of constant fire from dozens of advanced drones before the shields collapsed. Regular spaceships like an Aurora or Deadalus Class can only survive for a few minutes even if powered by a ZPM. The Destiny simply has way more power if fully charged and I guess that it's shield emitters are also better than Destiny's. And let's not forget that it's equipped with an super advanced AI which can deal with any kind of enemy. The only thing which is a little underwhelming are the weapons. They are still very strong, but they are not on the level of the drones which have been developed later. But apart from that it is the pinnacle of Ancient Technology. Their flagship. The best they ever built.
@@CaptainChrom mmm, while I understand your point... imma still have to agree to disagree. Atlantis with full zpm power was said to be unstoppable. Maybe if destiny has zmps, I would agree though
I didn't think the Sun Zu was destroyed. I always assuemed it was badly damaged and that had we gotten a sixth season of Atlantis it would have been repaired and we would have seen it.
Depends on if you go with the novels or the comics. Novels say that the ship is in critical condition and they don´t know if it´s salvagable, in the comics it´s already repaired.
What I loved about the Earth ships were that they were never really the big dog in the yard until seasons later. Also, by the time SGU started, the George Hammond could have one-shotted the Lucian Alliance ships. It was a major plot hole that was never really explained.
Yeah, the Lucian Alliance never had access to the really good Goa'uld tech, just the standard ships. Although by the later seasons they were significantly upgraded from early season standards, but they were still far outclassed by BC-304's shields and weapons, particularly after season 10.
The lucian alliance along with the free jaffa also had access to the hatak class ships that the replicates upgraded. Its suggested that using these upgrades they have somehow managed to make their shields highly resistant to beam weapons. This isn't too farfetched considering that the main enemy of the replicates were the asgard so their shields showing a resistance to asgard weaponry would make sense
@@angrykid616 "Its suggested that ..." It's suggested where? I don't remember anything like that. From the producers of SGU it's just an unexplained plot hole..
@@kyjo72682bad choice of words. It is the only in universe explanation that makes sense. It's either that or Carter is such a bad commander that she thought the best way to defend Icarus base was to not destroy the enemy hataks and let them fire on the planet
Oh and the 3D models used for CGI are made to scale using a six foot tall man. So those 300 meter descriptions in the manuals are sorely mistaken as the BC304 are closer to 850 meters.
Jon Harper on average it took about a year (ish) to produce a new ship so at this point they should have about 15-16 ships (bar any that’s got destroyed off screen)
I think acceleration is in deal here. However, one thing that wasn't really realistic to the content and lore was the fact that once they got their hands on the Asgard tech, they could mass produce those far faster than before. WE know they can because Samantha was able to do practically anything with a limited supply of energy in the time episode. They could probably assemble one with resources taken from all the junkyards on Earth and by beaming deposits directly from the ground to factory ships within months. IRL, that would happen, and it's an annoying thing that happens in a lot of shows. There's this one dimension of flat depth that content creators just can't seem to get over.
SG was one of my favorite shows. I hope they have a quality reboot. I commend the writers who kept if fresh, going in a new direction. Additionally, with the logical progression of integrating other world powers to defend earth.
More importantly it houses the asgard datacore which holds all the knowledge of one of the most advanced races ever shown and is the only bc304 powered by a zero point module greatly increasing all its energy based systems. I would say the odyssey could take on every space ship ever flown by stargate command (and sga) and come out untouched. This includes ori mothership and Aurora class ships
@@compaq98sc true but the only reference we have is a battle with the zpm hive and an alternate universe where the Antarctic drones were used to fight an ori invasion. In the former neither ship did any real damage to the hive and in the latter all the SGC could do with thousands of drones was force a single ori ship to withdraw while the odyssey easily destroyed one. Atlantis is powerful when fully equipped with drones and ZPM's but it was never designed for battle and the only reference we really have in regards to asgard shield/weapons vs lantern shield_weapons was the battle over asura. I would say that a single ZPM powering a warship with the latest asgard tech would be more effective than Atlantis with 3 even when it wasnt thousands of years old and falling apart.
@@angrykid616 True but lets look at a few facts we know. Ori manage to destroy the Odyssey even with the Asgard core and ZPM. Yes the odyssey managed to destroy a few ships but we already know from the Battle of Asura that the Asgard can destroy ancient ships. Zpm hive took 8 shots to down a non zpm BC-304 class vessel. Ori at battle of the Gate managed to Not only take out a Asgard shielded 304 with no zpm fairly quick along with multiple other ships. A Ori Satellite manged to quickly dispose of Prometheus granted Prometheus was weaker then a 304 class this clearly shows they had the firepower to take out Asguard shielding. Atlantis despite a wormhole jump and being drained from earth's Atmosphere still managed to take a massive amount of shots from the Zpm hive. This shows that Atlantis can take a massive beating with its shielding far more then a normal ancient or Asgard ship. Drone weapons ripped through Goa'uld shielding just like the ori beam weapon although it looks like it took a few more of them to destroy the ship's hulls. ( going off of battle of Anubis.) --- Assuming the Drones are even semi comparable (we know they are slightly weaker) to the beam weapon of the ORI then we can assume given the other information above that the Drones should also be able to do so. We also don't know how strong a ori beam is vs a ori shielding only that Asgard weapons fired multiple times CAN destroy a ori ship. We do know that The weapon of Antarctica did manage to drive off the ORI or destroy it ( not 100% made clear). This means it was capable of damaging the ORI just like the Asgard beam weapons can. Putting all this together and the fact that Atlantis would have far superior shields to a normal Ancient Ship it is safe to assume Atlantis would potentially beat the Odyssey even with the ZPM and Asgard Core.
Korolev was not lost with all hands, Daniel Jackson survived by using the rings to transfer to the Ori ship, and the captain of the Odyssey stated that a handful beamed over to that ship.
Keep in mind, this is the Tau'ri working in secret with their Stargate program in regards to the rest of the world, thereby resources/labor come at a crunch out of the need for secrecy. They hadn't even unlocked the production machine to spam BC-304s like nothing.
Hello everybody! Ukraine in touch) As well as a huge fan of all films and serials of the universe of the Star Gate! Thanks to the author for the video - I liked it very much!
Great video. Earth's fleet of ships is one of my favorite aspects of the shows. One correction though, Carter was a Colonel when she commanded the Hammond, not a Lt. Col.
One minor issue: The ships Prometheus and Daedalus are not USS, but USAF, as they were Air Force craft. Their patches and plaques reflect this. Later: Odyssey, Apollo, and George Hammond were titled USS, as the expense to construct the ships meant the funding and personnel had to diverted to their function, and a more mixed label was provided. However, the original two never updated, as they could be relied upon exclusively by the Air Force. In other news: each Daedalus class was so massive that no two were the same. In fact, only two of them rolled off the line on schedule, and could be considered the same model: the Apollo and the Hammond. The Daedalus was rushed into service to aid in the Atlantis defense, and received custom finishing by the crew en route and following the battle, which were potentially passed on to the later models. The Daedalus was specifically part of the Pegasus fleet, and specialized for long-term activity away from a home base. The Odyssey and Korolev were both pushed into early service to fight the Ori, with the Odyssey receiving an early refit to run more permanently with a zero point module, and then the fullness of the Asgard upgrades, many of which were likely not kept on other ships to prevent their potential loss or theft in battle. The Odyssey served as the flagship of the Tau’ri fleet while it was active, operating frontline actions and secret operations that could not be revealed to the larger SGC until after their completion. The Apollo was designed to participate in the Pegasus Fleet, specifically as the Special Operations ship to extra-galactic areas. It carried a bomb bay and more advanced sensors unique to the Apollo, specifically to allow for long range recon and first strikes with nuclear ordinance. The George Hammond was the first and only ship to fall into the general fleet. Due to expenses, no other Tau’ri ships were made (as of this point in time) and so the last of the class was intended to hold an all-around position, as specialization would no longer be viable in a non-war state with no ability to produce new craft. There are rumors of two additional ship classes: the Eos and the Austerlitz-class Battleship. As the former has no USS or USAF prefix, we can assume Eos is a prototype like Daedalus and Prometheus, and exclusively Air Force. It is presumable a 305 or 306, but we have no confirmation. The Austerlitz was evidently to be built and fielded by the European Union, constructed by a French space agency. No known models were ever produced.
The Earth's space ships weren't necessarily battle cruisers, despite what a lot of sci-fi would have you believe, battlecruiser is not a generic term for warship. Battlecruiser is a term used to refer to a specific class of ship and one that was not necessarily all that powerful. What a battlecruiser refers to is a ship that's roughly cruiser sized (maybe a little larger) with cruiser level armor but armed with battleship caliber guns. The idea was that they could take on other cruisers (and lighter ships) with no problem because they'd outgun them, but because they only had cruiser level armor it meant that they were still pretty fast so they would run away from anything larger than it, like a battleship. At any rate, this design philosophy didn't really work out and by WW II, or after the war, most countries stopped building battlecruisers with the Russians/Soviets being the notable exception with their Kirov class battlecruisers. In regards to the Sun Tzu, there's no way her crew would have left it just sitting adrift. They would have scuttled her in order to prevent her from being captured and dissected by hostile forces. The Ori would probably just it for target practice since there's probably nothing aboard her that would be remotely useful to them but the Wraith and the Lucian Alliance on the other hand, a human starship would be of great interest to them, esp. the Lucians. Since neither the Lucians nor the Wraith posess beaming tech, that alone would make the Sun Tzu very appealing to them if they happened to see it abandoned and adrift.
That's a great point. It is worth considering, however, that neither the Wraith (other than the ship currently being chased to Earth when the Sun Tzu went down) or the Lucian Alliance have the engine technology to reach the Sun Tzu in the gap between universes. It would be a calculated risk to leave and come back for it.
Of greater value would be the Ancient ship they found with disabled hyperdrive whose occupants they rescued and returned to Atlantis. They also could've booby trapped the vessel against the approach of unauthorized vessels and they could remove or destroy critical components and wipe databases. Basically, they had no known opponents who could reach intergalactic space and would find the technology useful and considering how large space is, if the location is not known, the probability of the spaceship's discovery is less than the probability of breaking our most intensive security encryption codes.
@@GateWorldDotNet "It is worth considering, however, that neither the Wraith or the Lucian Alliance have the engine technology to reach the Sun Tzu in the gap between universes" Galaxies not universes, there is a slight diferance there. I agree considering at the time Earth did not know of anyone else with intergalactic hyperdrive technoligy and as intergalactic space is so vast scuttling a ship they could likely salvage and repair later when the odds of someone else locating much less reaching it were at least trillions to one against, would have made little sense. Madlax Lednera "Wraith do possess beaming tech" Unless you know something I do not, sort of but not realy, Wraith have the culling beam which stores targets on a dart for later remateralisation, still requires the ship to transport you, not quite the same thing as something that can near instantly transport you from a planets surface to a ship in orbit or vice versa
I can't imagine a better job or life. Spending life aboard a battle cruiser. Was that the Odyssey that the crew was stranded on for years at the end of season 10? It was all juiced up with the Asgard tech. That is where I want to be.
Charles Mcgehee yes, it was. when Carter put the ship in a time dilation field as a stopgap measure to prevent its destruction following the Asgard making it their legacy by giving earth all of their knowledge and technology.
Especially cool was the ability to print anything one could want. Carter made a cello. Being stuck in a time dilation field with Amanda Tapping wouldn't be so bad either.......
If you were to escort a Traveler from the Pegasus galaxy aboard such a ship, the first thing they'd remark about was how empty the ship seems. I would concede to them two things: Our ships are brand-new compared to any of theirs, and we don't actually live out our lives aboard them-- we just work in them.
Does anyone think that the production of BC-304s and F-302s was kicked into overdrive after the super-hive incident? Speaking of the 302, I think it was a good but poorly designed fighter. The wings were dangerously low to the ground and it only packed four missiles for anti-fighter duty. I would've designed it to be a multirole so it could engage enemy fighters and ships. I think a payload of eight AIM-120s and five MK-IXs (four under the wings and one in the bay) would've been perfect.
Once more off world bases could be built and more resources could be acquired. I wouldn't be surprised. Plus with the ancient database and all asgard knowledge, I wouldn't be surprised if they built new designs..
If there was a new series I would to see this. How about a series where the tauri have become the asgard role with multiple fleets but a new enemy is over the horizon. A coalition of enemies. That some gouald survived and entered into a Alliance of the wraith who by this time was given ancient tech especially zpms en mass. As ships disappear and are captured by the gouald and given to the wraith. The deal between the two is a division of power in the milky way and that they can have all tauri and allied territory. Or maybe a trade deal. The Gouald could have the Pegasus galaxy and Atlantis to begin again while the wraith evacuated Pegasus for the milky way. On top of this another power is on the rise that wants Dominion. The renegade asgard that survived now prevented their genetic decline and can reproduce again, having seized a sister city ship like Atlantis... The enemies of the tauri using the lessons they learnt fighting earth, but going slow and stealthy first. Learning to our tech them... A reverse so to speak...

well the F-302 was built to be a interceptor , so dog fighting is it main roll, the over all size of Length 14.26 meters, width 26.17 meters making it near the size of the F-15 and F-16 just with a larger wing area. yes the F-15 can carry up to 8 AIM-120 but they loss so much from doing so, it mostly common practice to just carry 4 AIM-120.

It wuld be awesone .
Yeah, the progression of earth's ships is quite bizarre. X 301 : a prototype which is a retrofitted goau'ld interceptor. X 302 : a fighter class ship, a bit bigger than earth current fighter jets. X 303 : straight to full on battlecruiser with carrier capabilities. There seems to be a gap between X302 and X303.
I would like to imagine a multiverse where everything went smoothly for Earth, the program went public and society adopted, having their own Asgard-Human fleet of ships before the battle with the Ori and have hundreds of ships ready for defence.
This could be a potential storyline for the new show, not essentially a reboot, but a different reality based spinoff, but fans will be wanting continuity, not a reboot...even this kinda standalone spin off reboot-ish story. But i would not mind this as a parallel standalone isolated universe storyline. This really has a potential.

Yes! Carter was indeed a full bird Colonel by the time she commanded the USS Hammond. Come to think of it, she was already a full bird by the time she put in charge of Atlantis, which was a good year before she was reassigned to the Hammond.
I thought the same thing. Right before becoming the commander of Atlantis, John Shepperd congratulated her on the recent promotion, if I remember correctly.
The series still has some of the best space-combat scenes I have seen, especially those in the spinoff Atlantis - Easily on par with big budget starwars or startrek.

Didn’t the Hammond spent time at Atlantis as well in the final season appearing in the episode about the altered timeline when Taylor died? I think that’s when it was introduced as the Phoenix
I think you refer to SGA 4x20 "The Last Man". They never showed the Phoenix visiting Atlantis but it was pretty active in Pegasus to fight Michael's ships guerilla style.
Yep, "The Last Man" is where the Phoenix name comes from. (We learn about the renaming in "Enemy At the Gate.") The ship fought in the Pegasus Galaxy ... but only in the averted timeline.
TheZzZzZzZzZzA I was just guessing it visited Atlantis given that carter and McKay were working nonstop to get it battle ready after it was rushed off the production line
I'd assume they built (like the other ships) and then kept in in the Milky Way until it was battle ready (McKay could have simply traveled to Earth). The Pegasus galaxy at that point seems a lot more dangerous for a unfinished and not battle ready ship to be in.
TheZzZzZzZzZzA yeah it could have but in the episode there was carter, McKay and zelanka plus other Atlantis expedition crew. As you said it could have been earth I just assumed that it was Atlantis
i don't think sgc could cost leaving ship adrift like that even if they where making more the tech on the ship make Earth a super power among st galaxys
Dylan Hoare true but they didnt have a tractor beam or other means to tow the vessel. The only logical option is to take the crew on board the apollo, get home and come back later with the necessary parts and personell to make repairs in order to get the ship mobile under its own power. again
The problem was that the Sun Tzu was leaking atmosphere, meaning that repair teams could only operate there with a spacesuit, the number of which is starkly limited. Additionally the damage on both ships may have been severe enough that the spare parts available were only sufficient to fix one ship (whether or not you count the spare parts aboard the Sun Tzu as available or not is semantic). Either case a repair of the Sun Tzu would either take prohibitively long or be impossible so the logical choice is to go back to earth with one functioning ship and then return with the necessary equipment to get the Sun Tzu running ar a later time.
i was talking about after the battle is over and they could repair ares that they need to get it back to earth a finish a complete over hall of the ship which wouldn't be as long as building another ship
As the seasons progressed and so did the earths premier understanding of alien technology they would slowly but surley progress into the BC-304... EVERTHING ABOUT THT SHIP SAYS IT ALL SUCH A SEXY YET HUMAN LOOKING SHIP.....
The writers said not wrote but said the Hataks had upgraded their shields, however since this wasn't shown on screen or in the books/comics its not cannon by any stretch or by anyone's standards. Should the Franchise be renewed then hopefully we'll see the 304's with APB's utterly pulverize hataks.
This might have been a conscious decision. By the end of SG-1 S10, Earth had become a galactic player with immense firepower, so any previous enemy is no longer a match. Pulverising Ha'tak is amazing the first couple times, but it serves no dramatic purpose. New enemies would have to be even stronger than the Wraith, Ori and Goa'uld, and this power creep will become rather cheesy. Perhaps the lack of Asgard weapons is a financial decision? They're "too expensive", so that previous ships with them have a chance to shine, and suspense is kept alive.
I always assumed the initial attack managed to disable the Asgard weapons before they could be used. It was a surprise attack, shields down and the Lucian alliance had demonstrated they had compromised earth intelligence which could include weakness in ship design. We saw in the alternative timeline where the same ship just with a different name how the Asgard weapon were taken out quite quickly in an ambush scenario forcing the switch to missiles and rail guns. These would have little effect against shielded targets unlike reinforced hulls of wrath vessels especially ones in which by this point used Anubis enhanced shields.
Well a surprise attack works for me... But it is still kinda awkward to see them lose against three Hataks after the Odyssey took on like THREE Ori vessels while fighting solely on the defensive...
RedBaron, yes but at that point the Odyssey had the Zero point module giving it much more power to utilise for shields, while the Asgard core can generate significant power it is nothing compared to the output of a ZPM. Also if you consider it was a surprise attack there is no telling if any Shield emitters or power conducts were also damaged weakening defensive capabilities.
Carter became a Lieutenant Colonel at the start of season 8 and took control of SG-1 when O’Neill became Brigadier General and took command of the SGC. She became a Colonel after the defeat of the Ori, but before she took command of Atlantis for season 4 and then the Hammond, which showed up as the Phoenix in the season 4 finale The Last Man in flashbacks of how everyone but McKay died.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Odyssey's massive Asgard computer core upgrades, it's ZPM or it's cloaking tech. Which made it the most advanced vessel likely within multiple galaxies.
Me too, especially after they got and had access to knowledge of the Asgard and Atlantis technology. My disappointment was when during Atlantis expedition they meet replicators and didn't got the chance to go full with all the ZPM's they could get after they eliminated the replicators.
5:26 At the time she took command of the George Hammond, Samantha Carter was a full Colonel, not a Lt. Colonel. She received her promotion to full Colonel just before she took command of the Atlantis expedition at the start of season 4 of Stargate Atlantis.
Earth needs a smaller more easily constructed warship Battle cruisers are great but they are rather large investments and take a lot of time to build how about a few dozen frigates to round out the fleet
They weren't even battlecruisers. They were cruiser-carrier hybrids like the Soviets developed. I hate that actual naval classifications are just tacked on to sound cool, without any consideration of their meaning.
I always thought Earth needed a midrange ship between the 302 and the 304, something that could take a beating and pack a punch and didn't take years to build.
Actually those weren't tacked on for cool effect. There's a reason that the Tau'ri went with that style and it's mainly because they had to copy the Goa'uld. Don't forget, on a piece paper, and with stripping the special qualities, Earth's warships and the pyramids are basically the same. One seat of power, one core, one shield, engines, and a lot of space superiority fighters. EVEN after the snakes got pursed, they still had to carry that platform because the other baddies simply stole the pyramids for their own. A shitty deal, really, but there's a reason for it.
Warren Gouldthorpe Not quite. The SGC wasn't christened until Children of the Gods, where the first 9 SG teams were formed under Hammond. Prior to this West commanded the Stargate Project as seen in the movie.
I understand what you're saying, it's just that the SGC as we know it from the TV series didn't exist under that name. It's just a naming technicality. The Stargate Project from the movie was a separate organisation to the future SGC. Therefore while General West was the first and only commander of the 'experimental' Project, Hammond was the first commander of the fully fledged SGC. Also the TV series stopped referencing to the movie very quickly, I think West was only mentioned twice in season 1 and never again.
@@warrengouldthorpe5091 Stargate Project =/= Stargate Command To say otherwise would be like suggesting Northern Command existed in 1986, because NORAD existed in 1986. An organization does not exist until it exists, even of it tookocver fir an existing organization. NASA/NACA are another perfect example. While NACA eventually BECAME NASA, they were not the same organization. The SGC, as an organization, did not exist until the reopening of the Stargate in the late 90s.
I think it should've been noted that the first hyperdrive of the Prometheus was the unpredictable naquadriah based hyperdrive which was only stable with a stabilizing buffer which could be burned out by accidental navigation through a nova in hyperspace thereby stranding the vessel, this drive was then replaced with a Goa'uld cargo ship hyperdrive allowing short jumps between cooling periods to avoid overheating, finally it was upgraded to an Asgard hyperdrive capable of crossing between galaxies. To be honest, I think they abandoned the Naquadriah drive too early as they simply needed to bring a couple of spare buffers with them plus without the buffer, it was compact enough for the fighters and was used in one instance for a fighter to jump through Anubis's enhanced shields, theoretically though unpredictable, it would've allowed shield penetrating hyperspace multiple warhead missiles that used the drive briefly, granted more of a depth charge barrage but it would've been effective against the often more superior ships of the Ori and Wraith. I also think they should've had x-ray/gamma wave laser missiles as that was proposed during the 1980's Reagan era star wars program. These would've been missiles with fusion bombs within which would be multiple copper resonator rods. These missiles would fly outwards away from the ship to a safe distance where targeting computers would aim the various resonator rods and the fusion bombs would explode causing each rod to resonate an x-ray to gamma wave laser towards it's target. Of course each resonator would actually fire two beams in opposing directions so the missiles would likely be fired at a right angle to the target to avoid hitting it's host ship or between two opponents to fire on both. The ability to target multiple targets would've been effective against multiple enemies. They also should've had kinetic kill vehicles (also a current proposed weapon) which are essentially guided missiles with six reaction control thruster one on each face of a cube to allow maximum maneuverability in space, these would've appeared as pulsing blinking lights as they went to their targets. But of course they opted for sci fi trope ray gun like energy weapons with only missiles and rail guns as homages to Earth technology. They really abused rail guns as point defense weapons when in fact they would be long range artillery, the TV show Expanse more correctly showed rail guns as long range kinetic weapons and conventional guns as point defense weapons.
A portion of the Koralev crew were beamed aboard the Odyssey. Having read the Comics too. The Sun tzu was mentioned to have been given minor repairs before the Apollo towed her home for dry dock and refit back on earth.
5:30 actually she was promoted to full colonel after the successful strike to halt the orai invasion in “ark of truth”, at which point she took over command of Atlantis (season 4) and was congratulated on being promoted to full colonel...
Carter was promoted to Full Colonel before taking command of Atlantis and then the Hammond as most of the ships captains are usually full colonel in order to command a ship
I always thought during the battles with Wraiths that size doesn`t matter since Earth Ships were so small lol However they would be nothing without Asgard weapons
Before the beam weapons, the Daedalus class were even called by IOA as ships with really powerful shields. This implies humanity was painfully aware of their lack of offensive capability.
Another way to organize the video is to talk about the classes of ships, number, differences between (weapons, defensive systems, speed, crew compliment etc). Like Janes summary card. Organizing the info into repeatable chucks will help the viewer. Not sure how much is readily available. It seems easy to find in the Star Trek universe.
This was 'Awesome". 👍👏👍👏👍👏, Like watching these very informative videos of series past. I've forgotten of most ships in series, just to imagine as ones personal yacht with more amenities of the yachts we have from 2019 an past.
I know I'm very late to the vid but there are 2 corrections that need to be made. 1. Carter was a full Colonel during her run as commander of Atlantis and would have still been one when commanding the Hammond. 2. There were few survivors from the Korolev as we find out at the start of series 10 when Carter talks to the Odyssey.
Too bad Tauri ships were kind of worthless for the most part. Prior to getting the Asgard upgrade, they only seemed to effectively take on smaller ships that were basically cannon fodder. The rest of the time they just get pounded into submission and get captured. The Prometheus' destruction was particularly embarrassing. The plan was to run, the instant firing on the Ori satellite didn't seem to work. Instead they just sat around for no reason and let the enemy shoot them to death.
I think better that than having the ships be Mary Sues or somewhere in between. Were new to the galaxy and lucky how well those ships held up (which wasnt well at all). But they got dramatically better with some help from our friends. That feels better to me, and more satisfying when you look back. Humble beginings and all that.
Atlantis under attack, physically. Scene starts with soldiers being overwhelmed and one of them while a Wraith feeds on him pulls a grenade pin and takes those fucks out. Shephard is cloaked in a jumper and taking a massive fucking bomb into a Wraith mothership and at the last second gets a call on the radio to decloak immediately and is beamed out by the Deadalus who then fucks those Wraith ships up like they're made of paper. C'mon, some of our ships were cool!
I really love the the Starships were something humanity had to earn over 5 Seasons. It wasnt just handed to them and it felt amazing when it happend. Also Chekov was, despite his short cmings, a good man. I would have loved to see more of him. Same with the Sun Tzu. It would have been so intersting to have Chinese in the show as a triangle of Americans, Russian and Chinese all going over missions on their own way.
Beautifully put together Darren, but I wish you'd use actual video rather than stills, it would be so much more exciting to watch. Love it just the same.
You forgot to Mention that the Odyssey is Homeworld's Flagship as it was often the first ship to have new upgrades installed on it before the other ships.
THANKS FOR WATCHING! If you have a request for future videos please post 'em below. We'll be doing more in-universe primers like this one in the future.
GateWorld How about doing a video on some or all of the City-ships built by the Ancients, as we get two of them in the serier and the two more in the books? Also, you could make a video on some unused, still possible plots, like the Tria left in the void as Helia and her people came on a smaller ship, though for this one you'd have to have several such plots to discuss.
I would like to see a future video disscussing the insight n review of the F302 fighter interceptor aircraft..... The tactial implications of this fighter are quite possiably one of the most underrated in all of sci fi in general...
Dude, it's day-dalus not Dead-alus seriously, I know america has an education system and at least a passing understanding of the classics. And it's Min-otaur, (as in "Bull" ) not Mine-a-tar.
I think the new show should be ship based. Kind of an Earth made Destiny class ship. With Asgardian weapons and shields, with a mixture of some new ancient type drone weapons made by Earth. And it’ll roam into other galaxies, using a Pegasus Galaxy Stargate. It’s mission would be to look into a new threat that came into our galaxy from some galaxy the Destiny launched through.
Actually, Earth (Tauri) spacefleet is VERY poorly made. First of all, fleet consisting of one type (F302 not counting, because they are only "in-system" fighters) of spaceship is no fleet at all. Ask US, or Russian, or any navy on the world navy, if anyone of them does have "fleet" combined only from long range missile carrying aircraft carriers, or if their fleet include also ships wich are MADE to excell in any particular (different) style of combat, than the carriers - I mean, no dedicated scout ship, no dedicated stealth ship, no dedicated troop (or materiell) transport, nothing. Secondly, the speed and economics of building the ships. I mean, if they are building 304s with the speed of 1 per six or tvelve months, how fast would they make a fleet of considerably smaller interstelar reconosaince, stealth, long-range heavy bomber ships? Or some modular light long-range ship (like frigate with modulary interchangable equipment containers? Given the fact, Tauri depends still MOSTLY on SG teams, in terms of interstelar war, why no one ever did not think about a light spaceship capable to support such team for a long term missions? Or why no-one ever figured out a human-made puddle-jumper? With rockets and reilguns instead of drones, and with no ATA gene coded piloting, but big enough to house a hyperdrive, living quarters and some heavy weapons and small enough to still fit through the gate. With such (smaller) spaceships, Tauri could open a trade-negotiations with geniis (no-technology-above-rocket-drives version for them) for the Travelers (they want their ship for living space - to expand their numbers and even for it not much regarding technology needs to be undisclosed. Both have a good deal to offer - genii the intel, supply and material, the Travelers their technology to improve the human-tech. Can you imagine a bazooka-like gun on the same principle, as Ronans pistol? Or hyperdrive operating witouth crystals? Not to mention the possibilities for private market - to buy a small ship seems like no big deal, but for a private person, it could be the pinacle of their lives. And even Milky way galaxy (and Andromeda) are filled with a lot of wealthy private persons (wich could help to build more ships by paying for theirs). Not to mention, gateship is the only way how any more considerable military and industrial help could be transported to the Destiny. By gate to Destiny and than by hyperspace bubling (or hyperspace windowing) out, seemingly "through" the hull (as the f302 did thru anubisis supermothership shields). Afterwards, the Destiny crew would have their own faster than light (hyperspace) ship, wich they can direct PRECISELY unlike the Destiny can be piloted through FTL.
Earths fleet is designed to complement the gate network and as said in the video those are deep space carriers. Like the Enterprise class in Star Trek was not meant to be used as coast guard cutter. Also modular designs suck just have a look at US modular ships..
OriginalTharios well while xou are in deep space nothing really matters since you probably cant even find your enemy. I think deep space simply refers to the range. And being in deep space Id rather be on a carrier than a small goa oul bomber. but totally agree on the missile stuff and limited use of the fighters. But again fighters follow the rule of cool
To your comment nr 1 First, we are both talking about completely different things. I am commenting an SG-verse flotilla IN SGVERSE. You are talking SG-verse flotilla in OUR UNIVERSE. Manuevering thrusters answers the manueverability, range is unlimited {unlike in atmosfere and gravity, where the projectile is slowed down}. Submarines, LHDs, science and spy-ships, coastal and riverine patrol boats, zodiacs {rubber boats for transport between ships} and other {myriad} of other ship tipes and ROLES does not exists? Instant "shooting down of missiles and fighters" is BS. Both are shot down by missiles today, wich do not cover entirety of globe for instant kill. The super scaut technology of orbital spying is working because of extensive belt of spy satelites. Wich had to GET there somehow, and if you WANT to deploy a surveilance net on any planet, it is better to do it from a less spotable craft, than from friking few hudret meters battlecruiser. Especially for the reason, you might nead that battlecruiser to be in defensive position somewhere else, or be in a fight somewhere else. If compared to the WW2 terms - it is better to have a PT boat to spy on enemy or to transport a general out of the danger, than a cruiser. Not that cruiser is more easily spoted, but you will loose a different amount of materials and number of personel, if mission goes wrong. If it goes OK, it does not matter, if you have there a small capable boat, instead of kill machine. Also, the tokra would be pretty stupid, to have "spy ships" next to their alien tech {do not forget, that alien scanners are fighting alien ways of evading being scanned}. "Stealth in space is impossible"is not entirely true. the whole sentence is "stealth in space IN OUR UNIVERSE is not possible by means known to us yet" AGAIN, i was talking about stargate universe, where almost every major faction does have some version of clocking devices for persons, and for ships. The propulsion is different too {How "hot" is gravity drive or hyperspace drive?} You are not really a fan of reality facts on cold war, are you? "Stealth planes"all over Soviet union for spying for whole DAYS - not too long before. Regarding dedicated troop transport - again, see goauld troop transport ship, its wraith equivalent or a way the asgards of Pegasus attacked the Atlantis. If you sneak behind enemy lines and deploy a comando - like small squad {like SG-team}, you can use them for painting the defence of the planet {and around the gate}, taking them out with their {or the ships} bombardment firepower and they can immediatley grab and hold the gate. Would especially help, if you interupt the large contingent transport {or a VIP transport} by the gate by deployable "shield"version of IRIS.
The rule of cool is simple writer trope, not a way people WANTs it. BTW it is said, the "wings" of tie fighters and X-wings do have cooling ability inbuild and there is quite fancy and nice version of how that works in Mass effect (on the first Normandy). Regarding expanse, i belive it may be some kind of radiator on the surface of the ship, wich is covered by armour (with some smaller cracs) and supplemented by use of cryogenic coolant(s).
We don't want a remake of the series. We want a continuation.
The shows creator has tweeted that he is trying to get a new stargate project going and it would not be a one off and would be a continuation. But there's a lot of work to be done before any projects gets the go-ahead.
@@sael1337 Excellent. That is what I want to hear.
@@sael1337 Did he tweet something about how he thinks Universe could be at least properly ended? Hello
I really missed him and the Russian's as characters in general.

He was always trying to make sure his Nation was on equal footing, but when push came to shove he was willing to lay his life on the line to defend earth and her allies. A damn good character.
The loyalty to the motherland will inevitably have to grow to encompass all of Earth herself. Chekhov died a hero to the Rodina, all of it.
During the battle at the Ori Supergate, at least a dozen or so crew including Dr. Jackson made it off the Korolev right before it was destroyed, and according to known sources, Colonel Chekov's fate is unknown. So there is at least a small likelihood that he survived as well.
Not coming back
this is what I love the most about stargate.
Meanwhile we cannot get Elder Scrolls 6 even after 12 years
Absolutely agree, but I would have loved to see a point where we reached a level where we could operate dozens of Daedalus-class battle cruisers.
Look up Contact at Kobol by wilkens75 on fanfiction you'll be glad you did.
So star trek?
I read that. And I loved every single chapter

That's an alternate timeline so the Atlantis may never have been commissioned in the standard timeline. Another ship which could be added was the Aurora class ship Orion. It was used by the Atlantis mission on loan from the Taranians.

Stargate with a Discovery budget would be amazing on netflix

The Daedalus class. Thanks to the Asgard, and other technology, it's likely one of the most capable ships in the Universe.
@@CaptainChrom considering destiny was built 50million or so years before Atlantis, I would say atlantis is probably stronger
Didn't the Chinese have a Daedalus class ship at the battle of the supergate that got destroyed?
Korolev was the Russian vessel, the third ship of the class
It survived. The Daedalus had to evac the survivors but the ship was salvageable.
Depends on if you go with the novels or the comics. Novels say that the ship is in critical condition and they don´t know if it´s salvagable, in the comics it´s already repaired.
In which comic?
What I loved about the Earth ships were that they were never really the big dog in the yard until seasons later. Also, by the time SGU started, the George Hammond could have one-shotted the Lucian Alliance ships. It was a major plot hole that was never really explained.
Yeah, the Lucian Alliance never had access to the really good Goa'uld tech, just the standard ships. Although by the later seasons they were significantly upgraded from early season standards, but they were still far outclassed by BC-304's shields and weapons, particularly after season 10.
I would imagine than even F302 would have been improved, like with small Asgard guns or so
The lucian alliance along with the free jaffa also had access to the hatak class ships that the replicates upgraded.
I love the look of the BC-304, such a sleek design. I would enjoy a series based around one exploring.
Many ship design critics love the Daedalus design and scaling.
Oh and the 3D models used for CGI are made to scale using a six foot tall man. So those 300 meter descriptions in the manuals are sorely mistaken as the BC304 are closer to 850 meters.
I have watched this video every time I re-watch the Stargate series, which is every summer. Great video, please keep up the great work!
At the rate they were going they'd have about 2 dozen in service by now.
They're no doubt expensive as hell to build and maintain.
GoAwayGoogle and big too at about 650M in length. Confirmed by the way.
Jon Harper on average it took about a year (ish) to produce a new ship so at this point they should have about 15-16 ships (bar any that’s got destroyed off screen)
Yeah but considering all the non-US ships couldnt last longer than one mission close to half of those would have been lost. So maybe 14 at best.
We need a series chronically the adventures of Lt. Colonel Carter and the USS Hammond.
YES! more ship action.
Cololel!!
She was a Colonel by the time she got the Hammond. She was a "Full bird" as noted by Sheppard by the time she took command of Atlantis for a year.
No!
You mean colonel
one point...Carter is a full Colonel when she commands the Hammond (she gets the promotion before commanding Atlantis)
What i liked about stargate was the slow build up and the development of their ships...
It was earned
SG was one of my favorite shows. I hope they have a quality reboot. I commend the writers who kept if fresh, going in a new direction. Additionally, with the logical progression of integrating other world powers to defend earth.
There's one thing about the Odyssey you forgot to mention: it's still the only of the ships that can be cloaked!
...and virtually a perfect cloak, as even the Ori ships were unable to detect it.
@@angrykid616 They did technically fly Atlantis as a ship. Somehow i doubt the oddessy could fight the city at full power.
( going off of battle of Anubis.)
---
Assuming the Drones are even semi comparable (we know they are slightly weaker) to the beam weapon of the ORI then we can assume given the other information above that the Drones should also be able to do so.
100% Accurate, I love this video and I love the Daedalus. Best ship ever!
If she show return one day we need more ships indeed and maybe colonizing more planets in this universe
Korolev was not lost with all hands, Daniel Jackson survived by using the rings to transfer to the Ori ship, and the captain of the Odyssey stated that a handful beamed over to that ship.
Cam Mitchell was on it too. He escaped thru an F302
Keep in mind, this is the Tau'ri working in secret with their Stargate program in regards to the rest of the world, thereby resources/labor come at a crunch out of the need for secrecy. They hadn't even unlocked the production machine to spam BC-304s like nothing.
Thank you man I’ve been waiting for a channel like this!!!

Asgard ships are badass
I loved the design of the ships that came after prometheus, still one of my favourite spaceship designs
Great video. Earth's fleet of ships is one of my favorite aspects of the shows. One correction though, Carter was a Colonel when she commanded the Hammond, not a Lt. Col.
One minor issue:
The ships Prometheus and Daedalus are not USS, but USAF, as they were Air Force craft.
Wraith do possess beaming tech
@@GateWorldDotNet "It is worth considering, however, that neither the Wraith or the Lucian Alliance have the engine technology to reach the Sun Tzu in the gap between universes"
Galaxies not universes, there is a slight diferance there.
I agree considering at the time Earth did not know of anyone else with intergalactic hyperdrive technoligy and as intergalactic space is so vast scuttling a ship they could likely salvage and repair later when the odds of someone else locating much less reaching it were at least trillions to one against, would have made little sense.
Madlax Lednera "Wraith do possess beaming tech"
Unless you know something I do not, sort of but not realy, Wraith have the culling beam which stores targets on a dart for later remateralisation, still requires the ship to transport you, not quite the same thing as something that can near instantly transport you from a planets surface to a ship in orbit or vice versa
Great video. I had no idea of the number of ships or their history.

On top of this another power is on the rise that wants Dominion.
The renegade asgard that survived now prevented their genetic decline and can reproduce again, having seized a sister city ship like Atlantis...

Nothing new but fun recap. Thanks
i don't think sgc could cost leaving ship adrift like that even if they where making more the tech on the ship make Earth a super power among st galaxys
Dylan Hoare true but they didnt have a tractor beam or other means to tow the vessel. The only logical option is to take the crew on board the apollo, get home and come back later with the necessary parts and personell to make repairs in order to get the ship mobile under its own power. again
ya but they could send teams to repair on a ship with parts for it
The problem was that the Sun Tzu was leaking atmosphere, meaning that repair teams could only operate there with a spacesuit, the number of which is starkly limited.
@@dylanhoare8203 that ship will be fixed up. No doubt. It's just too nice of a future storyline to leave sitting out there and why i wasn't destroyed.

Alistair Shaw u got tht right and im nt sayin tht for bein a stargate fan bt a sci fi fan in general
I remember wanting showtime just to see this series. I was so stoked to get it on SciFi
The Hammond had no asgard weapons ready... it was still strange that a Hatak could get even close to damaging that thing...
I'm surprised the folks at Gateworld didn't catch this.
Carter is a full Colonel by the time she commands Atlantis, let alone the Hammond.
Carter was a full bird at the time of taking command of the George Hammond not a Lt Col
So in essence, they were battlestars.
TEE HEE
I miss stargate so much.
The first commander of the SGC was actually General West
Warren Gouldthorpe Not quite. The SGC wasn't christened until Children of the Gods, where the first 9 SG teams were formed under Hammond. Prior to this West commanded the Stargate Project as seen in the movie.
Gold eGamer because general west was in command of the stargate project that technically makes him the first commander of the SGC

Stargate Project =/= Stargate Command
To say otherwise would be like suggesting Northern Command existed in 1986, because NORAD existed in 1986.
They really abused rail guns as point defense weapons when in fact they would be long range artillery, the TV show Expanse more correctly showed rail guns as long range kinetic weapons and conventional guns as point defense weapons.
everytime i see rush now i can only think of one word.....''deary'' XD
A portion of the Koralev crew were beamed aboard the Odyssey.
Having read the Comics too. The Sun tzu was mentioned to have been given minor repairs before the Apollo towed her home for dry dock and refit back on earth.
The one flaw with the SGC is their ships keep gettin blown up. They can't build them fast enough.
To be fair, the only US manned ship that was lost was Prometheus. It was a good death.
5:30 actually she was promoted to full colonel after the successful strike to halt the orai invasion in “ark of truth”, at which point she took over command of Atlantis (season 4) and was congratulated on being promoted to full colonel...
I call for full disclosure of SPACE FORCE past and future plans we as a people can handle it for growth of our people it is time!
Carter was promoted to Full Colonel before taking command of Atlantis and then the Hammond as most of the ships captains are usually full colonel in order to command a ship
I always thought during the battles with Wraiths that size doesn`t matter since Earth Ships were so small lol
However they would be nothing without Asgard weapons
Before the beam weapons, the Daedalus class were even called by IOA as ships with really powerful shields. This implies humanity was painfully aware of their lack of offensive capability.
Another way to organize the video is to talk about the classes of ships, number, differences between (weapons, defensive systems, speed, crew compliment etc). Like Janes summary card. Organizing the info into repeatable chucks will help the viewer. Not sure how much is readily available. It seems easy to find in the Star Trek universe.
Pretty sure Carter was a full bird by the time she was in command of the Hammond.
This was 'Awesome". 👍👏👍👏👍👏, Like watching these very informative videos of series past. I've forgotten of most ships in series, just to imagine as ones personal yacht with more amenities of the yachts we have from 2019 an past.
We had to mcgiver the ships together
MacGyver and O’Neil are played by the same actor :P
Great Video!!
5:10 - Rescuing the Sun Tzu. That's a (potential) stargate episode. Reboot it!
Yep! You are correct on both counts. It's an older video and several viewers have noted these. Thanks for watching.
It was a stupid move. They should have destroyed the satellite. Never negotiate with religious extremists holding doomsday weapons.
You're expecting way too much from Hollywood writers...
Ships so bad the replicators wouldn't even take a bite.
You forgot about the two capitol class ships they designed a year after Atlantis. Books count as cannon.
Per MGM, books are not canon: www.gateworld.net/wiki/Stargate_Canon
Which ships were those?
Beautifully put together Darren, but I wish you'd use actual video rather than stills, it would be so much more exciting to watch. Love it just the same.
We're able to do this more and more now! Future vids will have more video clips.
You forgot to Mention that the Odyssey is Homeworld's Flagship as it was often the first ship to have new upgrades installed on it before the other ships.
This is speculative. By my memory a designation such as "flagship" was never used in the series.
I am dying for more stargate tech!!!
THANKS FOR WATCHING! If you have a request for future videos please post 'em below. We'll be doing more in-universe primers like this one in the future.
GateWorld
How about doing a video on some or all of the City-ships built by the Ancients, as we get two of them in the serier and the two more in the books?
Also, you could make a video on some unused, still possible plots, like the Tria left in the void as Helia and her people came on a smaller ship, though for this one you'd have to have several such plots to discuss.
I would like to see a future video disscussing the insight n review of the F302 fighter interceptor aircraft..... The tactial implications of this fighter are quite possiably one of the most underrated in all of sci fi in general...
Only an edit to this one as Samantha carter was a full bird colonel as of half way through season 5 of atlantis
Dude, it's day-dalus not Dead-alus seriously, I know america has an education system and at least a passing understanding of the classics.
And it's Min-otaur, (as in "Bull" ) not Mine-a-tar.
CORRECTION: Carter is a full-bird Colonel by the time she takes command of Atlantis (SGA 4x03). Thanks to everyone for pointing this out.
To your comment nr 1
First, we are both talking about completely different things.
"Stealth in space is impossible"is not entirely true. the whole sentence is "stealth in space IN OUR UNIVERSE is not possible by means known to us yet" AGAIN, i was talking about stargate universe, where almost every major faction does have some version of clocking devices for persons, and for ships. The propulsion is different too {How "hot" is gravity drive or hyperspace drive?}
You are not really a fan of reality facts on cold war, are you?
Comment number 2
Sg-werse/real unvierse, SG phyisics/real physics. NEVER CAN AGREE, when we both are in different areas.
I’d like to see an episode or book. From the point of view of the guys who built them and how they keep it a secret.
Very Interesting I loved it
i would like to start seeing ships of varying designs eventually, maybe some sort of long range battle cruiser or some sort of dreadnought
