One of the most epic live performances of all time. No auto tune, pitch correction..... Just pure synchronicity. I've seen men cry, watching this video.
For me, this is peak Zeppelin. They were so tight together, their individual talents were at another level. The four of them were just magic. I’ve been a fan since 1969. I still listen to them every day. The Best Rock Band Ever! 🔥♥️

Listen to the studio version of the song. It is much more focused. It is perfect. Zep's live performances can be messy even though they can be fun at the same time.
Jimmy may not be the best but my ear would rather hear him over anyone. The chemistry between all is undeniable. Great top three btw. They were constant improvisers so the interplay is perfect. If they weren't destroyed by heroin and alcohol they would be the goats of goats. Check the guitar in No Quarter from this concert, it is phenomenal.
Great song and video!! We used to go watch this at “The Midnight Movies”. You can imagine the fun, we were 17yrs old in a theater drinking and tripping with a packed house!! The beer bottles could be heard rolling down the floor and the scent of herb was very strong! Not only did they show this, but also The Wall and Rocky Horror!!

There’s another great live version of this on the 1994 DVD/album No Quarter: Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Unledded. Incredible lush sounding accompanying orchestra. They also shine on Kashmir (a natural with an orchestra) which is done in even more of a middle eastern style.
Your reaction is GOLD I have listend to this a billion times (from 14 years till 65 years) and it sounds like the first time. Love my " sloppy" Jimmy ( to perfect is boring) and of course the forever seductive Robert.
You're talking about the bass, generally when they performed this live, JPJ was at the Hammond organ, and he played the bass with the foot-pedals. Saw it myself!! Amazing.

I saw Zeppelin soooo many times in concert back in the 70's, that l lost count. This movie is the closest you're going to get to seeing them live, enjoy 🤘🎶
Wasn't that just the most fabulous version of the song. I loved when you metioned how good John Paul Jones' bass line was.... and I smiled as he was playing that line with his feet.... His hands on the keys and his feet on the bass pedals. This is very similar to the original studio version... just with the added fact that they could also improvise around as well..... I get what you mean about Roger and Robert's vocals and their way of singing... I think the word you are looking for is "sinuous," like cats...!!!

This is obviously one of Plant's favorites. We saw him perform in 2018 at the Austin City Limits auditorium in Austin, TX. He included this in his set. It's a really good song.
Saw these guys twice. Paid $5.00 the first time and $6.00 the second. I always tell people you haven't lived till you've heard LZ's take on Ricky Nelson's "Hello Mary Lou."
Family is what you make it. Just because I was born into a family, doesn't mean I feel a part of it. My family is my kids, grandkids and friends I choose to be in my life. After my dad passed in 2009, the glue that held it together was gone. Just be a good human and you will be a good dad.
Normally, when I listen to LZ live performances I am struck by Jimmy Page's guitar. They were all great professionals in their roles, there were only three of them playing but it was as if I heard an orchestra of at least 20 elements and they had perfect synchrony between them, even though each performance was not the same as the previous ones. Robert Plant sang blues adapted to rock like an old black bluesman. He was unique. But Jimmy Page enriched every performance with imagination, creativity and emotions. Wasn't he perfect? Let's leave perfection to the kids who graduate from the conservatory. Every great musician and artist of the past has become immortal because he changed the academic rules and struck the ears and hearts of listeners with new sounds, or, if a painter or sculptor, with figures and different colored mixtures, our eyes. With due distance, obviously, Mozart, Beethoven, Picasso or the impressionist painters initially scandalized the public, accustomed to something else. But, even now, we love their music and are enchanted by their paintings.
I'm with ya, David McKenzie!! This time period: again, is hard to find GOOD quality performances....but, too: MSG was a GREAT CONCERT for Led Zeppelin...and, the energy was ramped-up....STILL - with ya - love the studio version.... Thanks for reacting to this one, Lee!! YOU ROCK!! HUGS!
Most of Zeppelins shows '68-'73 were good quality performances. Unfortunately they were not filmed and not recorded properly. Still we have Danmark Radio tv show, Royal Albert Hall, BBC Sessions, How The West Was Won, MSG.
This is my favorite live of them, another absolutely amazing live is. Earls Court (1975) In My Time Of Dying, Page plays the hell out of a steel guitar, that song is mind blowing. There’s 2 versions of it, & one is far better then the other. The better version Plant just says steel guitar, In My Time Of Dying, the other the intro is a little longer. Thanks for your reaction, we always love our Led Zeppelin.
Hammer of the Gods. Three movies that I will always remember seeing: Woodstock, Yessongs and The Song Remains The Same. (Dammit! I can’t leave out A Hard Day’s Night!)

I watched copies of that album get thrown like frisbees out of the jock dorm windows. Then two weeks later they all lined up to rebuy it. Jocks were always fickle.
I've always heard something a bit "exotic" in this song, specifically in Page's playing, that I can't quite put my finger on, Eastern European, North African or Middle Eastern. I don't know if it's the tuning, chords, progression, the way he bends the note, but it's so deep and soulful. "Bluesy", sure, but much more than that. Anyone?
I wish I had seen this tour but my parents wouldn’t let me, I was almost 13. I got to see them in 75 but I wish this song had been on the set list. ✌️♥️🎶
I highly recommend the black and white 1969 Danmarks radio version of Babe I'm gonna leave you. Younger, rawer and for me better than they are here ....and Plant is on fire. Even with the vocal crack a couple of minutes into the performance!

Yup, probably the coolest band of all time. Even the name Led Zeppelin is best sounding band name ever
Jimmy Page is SO cool.
The Mighty Zeppelin
John Paul Jones wasn't playing a bass on this he was on keyboards but the bass line he played with foot pedals.
It's so good to time-travel back to '73 and dine with the proper "rock gods." Good times indeed.
John Paul Jones was playing bass pedals and electric piano.

Yup. And Plant’s performance is less strained and not over wrought by half. Definitely tighter. Still like this live version a lot though.
