So fun to watch this with my older brother. Thank you for suggesting this song. If you are new to reactions, we are supposed to pause and talk over it to be at least somewhat transformative. What a song and what a performance.

The first time I saw Zeppelin live was 23rd March 1969 at my local pub. The venue was supposed to hold 200 max, and there was over 400 people in the hall. They were paid £100 for the gig, and tickets cost £1, and we even got to chat to the band afterwards. Last time I saw them was 4th August 1979, and I saw them another 5 times in between. Each time was better than the last, and their music will live on forever in my opinion.

My oldest brother was ten years older than me and he took me to a few big, outdoor rock jam festivals, probably mostly to impress his girlfriends. I was a little kid and pre-Vietnam he was a very clean cut guy. Passing that sacrament every Sunday. 😉 So we were not on anything at all and didn't need to be. I got to see some legendary bands all before the age of 10. Then in 1970 he went to Vietnam along with 2 of our other brothers. The world was never the same after that for them or for me.

My first concert was Ted Nugent. I was sitting dead center just a couple of rows up from the standing area in front of the stage when the guy on my right taps me on the shoulder and proceeds to hand me a large joint roach clip included. I never did drugs so I did not partake and passed it on down to my buddy who kept it going like doing the wave at a football game or something.
Then the Motor City Mad Man makes his entrance by dropping from the rafters of the arena by a rope screaming the Tarzan sound and wearing nothing but a loin cloth. When the rope drops him down to about center stage he lets go of it and someone throws his guitar up which he catches in mid air and by the time he lands on the stage he is already playing Cat Scratch Fever.
I never witnessed anything like that ever again at a concert.

Sebs, every concert that I went to in the 1970's, the place was full of marijuana smoke. It wasn't unusual to be passed a joint from a complete stranger, take a toke and pass it on. You can see the smokiness in the lights at this concert if you pay attention so yeah, I'd say a good percentage of the audience was high. I loved what you said about their confidence, it's one of the things that I think the band possessed in abundance. Thanks for reaction, for the record, I didn't mind y'all talking. I have watched several of your reactions, and I just love the way you describe how it makes you feel and your deep appreciation for the endless talent and diversity of old school music. I am 65 yrs old and I saw Led Zeppelin in 1973 in Albuquerque, NM when I was only 14 yrs old. We were standing in the front row right in front of Jimmy and Robert and their gigantic speakers! Of course we were all very high. It was the best concert of my entire life! We were completely blown away by their incredible sound and talent. Pure magic!! They were so loud and we were all deaf for 3 days after, but it was totally worth it! I have been completely obsessed with Robert for 50 years, so you can imagine how totally freaked out I was to meet him last summer! We had seen him perform the night before, and we ran into him eating breakfast the next morning. We sat right next to him, and he talked to us for quite a while. It was so supernatural and miraculous that I was in shock for about 3 days. He is such a living legend and incredibly kind, funny and down to earth. He's still got the magic and will always be the golden god or rock and roll! ❤

My parents saw them more than once; the 1975 tour happened when I was 3 - my dad wanted to take me but my mom said I was too young, lol (she has since said she should have let me go, just for the experience, lmao) My mom has always described Robert Plant as "sex on a stick", lol. Both my parents were on LSD during BOTH shows and were mesmerized and taken to a different place. You were right when you described it as a religious experience.

Occasionally a part of a song that I want to see how he reacts to is missed because of some chatter or laughter at the critical point that I was waiting on. Man, I figure it just comes with the territory of reacting to unfamiliar music. He has added a “feature” where he reads through the lyrics afterwards and usually catches anything he missed during the song. Not quite the same but close enough for me I guess.
Sebs however is definitely the most entertaining person out there at doing reactions in my opinion. I apologize if I came across as a little snarky. That wasn’t my intention.

At the beginning of the concert two police officers decided they would bust a guy for smoking weed. The police were driven out of the stadium and then they were bombed with beer bottles from the top of the stadium and driven off of the block. From the moment the concert began weed flowed like water. Joints were going in all directions. To even be in the stadium was to be high.

Back in 1975….I saw them perform at Madison Square Garden for six consecutive nights….back in the day tickets were $20.00 and the only way you can purchase the tickets legally was mailing either a check or money order in advance of the concert date….

You definitely need to check out Led Zeppelin's The Rain Song, Since I've Been Loving You, Battle of Evermore Ramble On and Kashmir. All of their songs have such different styles and are so unique and totally amazing! Dave Matthews Band has been my #1 for the past 25 years. They are extremely talented and feature many different styles of music also. We had so many excellent bands in the 70s! Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, Yes, Robin Trower, Moody Blues to name a few! 😁

I saw Led Zeppelin in concert in 1969 and 1970 in Kansas City. At the time I was a singer in a garage band in college. We did songs from the first album but not this song which was later. Was I on something? Probably. I don’t remember. Is that proof? Anyway, they were electrifying in person.

Unfortunately Sebs if a song has been doctored (remastered) that likely means that at least the vocals have been run through Tone Control and Pitch Correction software. It’s becoming somewhat difficult to find live tracks that haven’t been pitch corrected after the fact by someone on behalf of the musician or band.
If anyone is interested, Fil of the Wings of Pegasus site does “Analysis” videos that aren’t a competitor of or a replacement for reaction videos like these by Sebs. Using software that actually graphs the vocals Fil can visually prove whether vocals are original or have been pitch corrected.
Additionally Fill recently “busted” the Eagles for actually miming pitch corrected versions of their songs during their live concerts. A suspicious fan sent Fil a video of the band’s live performance asking if they were really singing or only miming. Analysis showed that they were miming! He then determined many other bands are also guilty. Fascinating and eye opening stuff!

I think he’s checked Zep and Plant and determined that Plant has not been. If I recall correctly. That doesn’t mean that some jerk won’t do so in the future….but I know it would highly piss off Plant and Page and JPJ.

I did see them live in 1975 in St Louis. They played for over 3 hours. It was wonderful but also sad in a way as I knew I had just seen the best concert I was ever going to see. Your analogy of a Religious experience were right on. They were the best that's why their music is still relevant after 50 years.

Led Zep sounded better live than on record (like Yes). I saw Led Zep in 1975 at Earls Court (London). They came on about 10 min late and played for a full three hours. About halfway Robert Plant said that they were going to sit down and have a cup of tea. He added not because they wanted to but HAD to! And they sat down and played their acoustic numbers. Best concert I've ever been to!

Also to add page and the band did this song originally in a time signature that no musician could try to cover it at the time. Page used the brain to edge jones and bonham while it was jonesy who wrtote the riff. Page was a session guitarist in demand since the age of 15 until he joined the Yardbirds then formed the MIGHTY ZEP FROM THOSE ASHES. HAMMER OF THE GODS 68-80

Yes this reaction video is not meant to replace or compete with the original. You should only be here if you are interested in watching and listening to Sebs’ reaction to the song. If you want to listen to the original without interruption then search for it by name and pick this same live performance, a different live performance of the song or the studio version, whichever fits your fancy!
