Lots of commentary on this one! I put timestamps in the description. Also, there's a delay on the new website so for now it'll take you to a temporary page.
i'm a member of an anonymous group of addicts of one variety or another, and I really enjoy hearing the spiritual and religious analysis of tool and a perfect circle. Watching your videos is bringing my own realizations to some of my favorite songs. Thank you for doing this
I was of the opinion that if their next release maintains the level of their past releases then (in my opinion) they will have surpassed Led Zeppelin as the best. In preparation of the next release I have recently been revisiting their full body of work. I am now galvanized by the opinion that this next release is inconsequential. Tool is the best, ever.
They don't say that. If you just wanna listen and enjoy, do it. If you wanna get to the deeper meanings, search for it. What they say is: "Tool is exactly what it sounds like: It’s a big dick. It’s a wrench. It’s also what it sounds like: It’s a verb, it’s a digging factor. It’s an active process of searching, as in use us, we are a shovel, we are the match, we’re the blotter of acid, your tool; use us as a catalyst in your process of finding out whatever it is you need to find out, or whatever it is you’re trying to achieve."
Although maynard no longer adopts the attitude necessary for its full force, each and every tool performance is an enochian ritual magick designed to destroy all modern forms of control.
Actually lol...I remember seeing a show for this album, and yeah...the crowd could not keep time dancing to save their collective lives lol. Intense fucking show tho...top 5.
A lot of what they try to do with their music, especially with this song, is to open your mind to a higher way of thinking. Think outside the box and get out of your comfort zone. It’s very similar to people who get high to do the same thing. Not the ones who get high just to avoid life or to self medicate but to reach a higher understanding of oneself. What you said was simple but very close to the truth :)
My first real "experience" with Tool was on April 21, 2001 while storm chasing with a coworker who played the new Lateralus album during the chase. We chased a nighttime F4 tornado which destroyed part of the town of Hoisington, KS. This song was playing while we were watching the storm and made me an instant Tool fan from that moment. I had heard a number of Tool songs over the years, but this song took me to a place that seemed to capture the moment I was experiencing chasing that tornado.
I love how you're helping remove the negative stigma attached to rock and metal within theological communities. Please, keep making these videos. Music is the best way for a lot of people to express themselves. And for those of us who have zero musical talent relate.
Thank you! I'm a metalhead but also religious, and it sucks seeing people judge people's morality based on their music preference, especially with a band like tool, who just puts so much care into their composing process.
23:24 _"Swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human."_ The golden spiral, Fibonacci, the gold ratio (phi) are reflected everywhere in nature. These lyrics mean, roughly, to embrace the randomness of life by putting yourself out there to experience new things. To understand that the mathematics of God are present, to understand that there is actually _order in all of the chaos,_ and to still be a human simultaneously living your life as if fate was not decided for you.
Infants see black and white first, then they see red. Yellow and blue are next. Then by five months they see all the other colors. I actually set up my daughter's room colors based on this song.
Nope. Reasonable interpretation and valid subjectively, but the intention of the writers is different. The colors are a reference to occult alchemical symbolism. The alchemist moves through these colors spiritually/mystically/philosophically/intellectually/metaphorically while conducting corresponding chemical reactions that result in these colors in this order. It's a sort of scientific spiritual ritual not unlike old pagan ceremonial magic. There's a ton of alchemical symbolism in the rest of the song as well. "As above so below" is a line that makes it a dead giveaway. I know this is an old comment, but it's never too late to learn something new. I would encourage you to inspect the lyrics more deeply, and follow the occult symbolism. Really dive into the meaning and do the required studying to understand it all. Perhaps even actually indulge in the symbolism and do the esoteric work...
While I don't share your religious ideas, it's awesome to see you react they way you do to Tool, because Tool is an experience, so I guess music unite us all. and now you need to react to Parabol/Parabola
over-analyzing: putting religion where there is only maths Reaching out to embrace the random: don't try to explain everything, let it flow. separates body from the mind: don't over explain... it's reducing what is really happening to your sole denominator. it's like explaining 3d with a 2d point of view.
@Miko to avoid the drug copyrighted name. yeah. satan is more a catholic thing than to me. in fact i'm an atheist, i prefer self confidence science and objectivity than belief founded above nothing but an old lie i don't need an hypotethic god to live under a mace of "don't do bad for nothing unless you'll live after death in the worst place ever imagined"
but i know for sure people need this paternalfigure to remember to do nice things around them. as a parent "threatening" children "you won't ever go to the park if you're not nice with your sis or bro" and i can understand that.
One of the greatest musical feats ever conquered.. The golden spiral. Tool is genius. I really appreciate the research you guys do into the music you listen to.
I have to agree here. I would love to hear Robert’s analysis of the lyrics for Parabol/Parabola specifically. It is also my favorite song on the album. It’s another song in which the music invokes feelings deep within you.
YOU CAN BE SPIRITUAL AND Christlike without being religious religion means to bind its a bondage created by the Roman POPEARY EMPIRE to bind and distort Christian faith.
These guys should really challenge themselves intellectually and analyze music that has a very opposite to their beliefs, such as, well, I don't know...black metal?
I'm pretty sure that it should be regarded as peak Tool, everything after is kind of less of an evolution and more of a consistent sound. Prior to this Opiate -> Undertow -> Aenima were all building to what Lateralus was like
Amazing message... As a major Tool fan and a devout Christian, you really brought a powerful message. This is the first reaction video of yours that I have watched, but I am hooked! On thing, any true Tool fan would not get angry at your message. Tool is all about peace, inside and out.
Really liking this idea for a channel. There's a lot of stigma against metal in the Christian community due to the echoes of the old satanic panic. I personally have dropped away from structured religion and churches because of their controlling nature. I can't stand that, but I don't equate them to belief like so many do. Jesus was a nonconformist and broke against the flow and I don't deny him, I just deny the masses that enforce control in his name. My spirituality survives and thrives in its freedom from it.
ANTi GRAV I’d definitely recommend finding a house church or something a little more modern. There are some great traditional churches but I think most of them are getting old and outdated. I’m not saying to stray from Biblical truth, but tradition is killer. Praying for you, dude. Rock on 🤘🏻
Amen I feel the same exact way! I know not all churches are created equal and a lot of that Satanic references to Metal music came from prominent televangelists in the 80’s. These televangelists were nothing like my actual pastor growing up at church though. With that said though the mass hysteria constantly pumped out by similar televangelists today is why I barely attend church anymore. “It takes just a few bad apples to spoil the whole bunch” is a true statement.
"Almost did the horns - we do pray hands here" love this wholesome acceptance and passion for music that is normally scorned by religion. Good job guys
But the horns originally were meant as a symbol to shun away evil. Ronnie James Dio's grandmother used to use it and he adopted, and that's where it came from in the metal world
Sam Reeve the horns are for protection from the Devil. Pastor should of thrown the horns up. There is much hate on the horns. It is not to bring in the Devil and evil.
@Arte del Diablo To be fair artists tend to unconsciously give symbolism to their work. They might say that it meant nothing, but one could argue that your "doodles" might not be doodles at all. Instead, they might be an expression coming directly from your psyche.
Of course we're going to over analyze everything because his audience thinks similar to him & I think he talks about NOT doing that because he does this all of the time!
The song was not written by chance. Danny Carey is versed in numerology and there are many songs that show the mathematics in the writing process. Maynard adds lyrics after the music is written.
Danny Carey is one full on guy. I think his drum kit is laid out according to sacred geometry too. Dude is 57 and can beat the skins better than anyone.
People are overthinking and overanalyzing the part "red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me, lets me see" in my opinion. When a child is first born it sees only in black and white. The next color is red then yellow. If you think about that in the context of the song it makes perfect sense. This represents growth which is a the main theme of the song really, always growing, learning or spiraling out
I'm pretty sure it is meant that way, meaning growth, but the colours weren't chosen at random (I'm pretty sure). Looking at the linguistic origin of colours, as a language we first distinguish black and white (light & dark colours) followed by red as a third and yellow as a fourth. If I'm not mistaken, that's why MJK chose those numbers. (There is an amazing video on yt, I believe by Vox, explaining how colours came to be in languages around the world)
the face is based upon the Fib sequence as well. thats why when you see some with deformity of the face like downs your brain can imiditly tell. is so we dont mix our genetics with faluty ones.
It didn't. Even God could not make something so great. Time had to wait and nurture humankind to finally bring tool into existence in the late 1900s. I'm baked right now.
Pranav Kulkarni. Let’s be honest though... if tool wrote the most popular song in the world and it was famous. Religious nuts praising it as an act of god. MJK would throw a fit and release a shitty underdeveloped song on Puscifer.
That's where I believe most people go wrong. Never in the song is it stated nor suggested that overthinking is a bad thing. What if separating the body and mind is the goal?
watching Christians rock out to pagan metal and actually grasp the meaning of it on there own level within the confines of their own path what a age we live in BLESSED BE YOU TWO
@@janisbuss6334 not exactly ? but it has a lot of pagan ideological reoccurring themes in the lyrics like as above so below however all art is open for interpretation i think if someone assumes that it has nothing to do with paganism they don't know much about the meaning of the lyrics or where they come from whether the band themselves is or is not i m not sure but the lyrics are clearly taken directly from pagan ideology so whether they personally identify as that or just consider them selves spiritual most of there songs have a reoccurring theme that is pagan i think what you mean to say is its not just for pagans to enjoy... and your right its open for interpretation and for all people of all walks of life to enjoy whatever meaning they find it is no more or less valid then anyone elses
natty features EVERYTHING “as above, so below” is a concept, derrived from hermeticism. That’s western esoterics, not paganism. While Tool have focused more on themes from hinduism/buddhism in this one.
@@janisbuss6334 i think your confused hermeticism is a branch of or one form of paganism and this concept is found in many pagan faiths as well paganism can encompass many spiritual paths and faiths both western and eastern and many if not most eastern philosophical spiritual paths are it isn't always about wicca or witches that is a crude stereotype note both hinduism and buddhism fall under the pagan umbrella of alternative faiths
natty features EVERYTHING that’s not a branch of paganism. This is just namedropping different things, that aren’t connected that much, if only in the sense, that they are all spiritual teachings or practices of sorts. Of course, if you look further, even christianity and islam take many events or elements of “pagan” religions, like zoroastrianism and ancient egyptian cosmology. And “as above, so below” has originated from “The Emerald Tablet, which are the key writings of hermeticism.
You are missing that mynard, as well as alex grey (who made the art of the album of tool and work with fibinacci) have esoterical belives and egipcian teological back ground. In this ways of faith, god is not a selfaware being. Its more like a primigenial force that ptoyect itself and creates everything, making every thing divine (even the rocks and animals for example). So the human exploring the divinity is not about trying to reach god (the Cristian one) but too recognize that the human is part of a whole and not set apart of the rest of the universe. And the spiral is also interpretated as the limitless potencial of growth and evolucion, of the human being. Sorry for my poor english
@@TFOLLT that's crazy to me especially when Tool is much more widely known. If you like Maynard's voice you should check out his other band A perfect circle.
I know guys, now that I do know TOOL I can see why you think that. But since I've gotta find my own way in music, was raised very sheltered, no one to show me cool bands, my family is only into classical music and my parents think I listen to satanic garbage, I've token a weird way into Prog. For example, I discovered Pink Floyd through Dream Theater...
TFOLLT I also started listening to Pink Floyd because of dream theater lol I remember the first dream theater song I ever heard was a change of seasons and someone made a comment about echoes and away I went
I believe when Maynard says to embrace the random, he is saying to embrace change, much like Bruce Lee said be like water. If one can learn to be flexible in life then Murphy's Law will be much easier to accept in occurrence.
you are thinking of this too logically. over analysing it haha. maynard is a spiritual man. Think of it more like following your intuition and that the universe has always got your back
Actually, the reference to “black and whit” and “red and yellow” has to do with our visual acuity as infants, which is without color. Until the cones in our eyes develop to a point where we can discern color. The first two colors we are able to see are “red and yellow then came to be, let’s me see…”
@@goatinstein exactly...most people think a part of me is about Maynard "member" lol But listen and read the lyrics again..from a point of view that he is talking about his mother....at thos point in his journey he was angry at her for abandoning him, for still having so much faith. But she was only a good outlet to blame..she can't leave, can't speak, can't hurt me, just her for moe to use...as an excuse... He later came to terms, that she did not abandon him. Like some kids who blame mom for making dad leave ect. I have heard that song 1 million times, and only yesterday did that parallel hit me...
Hey guys, love the fact that you are looking at Tool and being so open minded and putting your own thoughts into it and trying to find meaning in the music. It's also amazing that you are applying the lessons of your faith to the lessons that I think Maynard tries to put into our minds as an audience. The one that I wanted to say in respect to what you were saying was on the discussion on the verse "swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human." In respect to the verse, and in respect to the theme of the song. This verse is a humbling lesson. As humans, we are constantly on a path of discovery and invention, through our actions and our thoughts we are constantly in a processes of transcendence, and by this it is our own divinity that we exercise our own small stretch of power that we are able to use to bend and make and affect our surroundings and impact our world. The humbling truth is our divinity does not fathom the truth of the divine beyond what is attainable by our hands or our minds. And that our divinity, though we may see it as being great and mighty, is a scrap and limited for after all we are only human, and our only course to be more is to seek more and to "spiral out, keep going" to see further into the truth and to reach for greater.
SCHISM, that's awesome too. Time signature changes 46 times I believe. Nearly the whole song is a measure of 5/8 then a measure of 7/8, back and forth over and over again
Dennis Crider regardless of how “played out” it is, it’s still a fucking fantastic song. It being “played out” is one of the main reasons I found tool and delved deeper into their discography. And it has a lot of meaning to me, personally. So I don’t see how you deciding it’s overplayed makes the song any less good. That’s the second most hipster thing I’ve read all day.
To embrace the random means allow yourself to be one with serendipity. The random happenstance of life or “go with the flow.” Rather the try to control everything. To embrace the random is letting yourself go with the flow but not letting yourself go out of control.
Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. Seemingly random, from our perspective. I don't think it contradicts the pastor's beliefs. Although, I do believe that we all have a spark of divinity.
grave dug I agree about the divinity part too. Not to argue with the pastor, but there are passages in the Bible that say just that, (we are of Christ and Christ is of God) it even says in one passage that we are in spiritual infancy, which is awesome, given the beginning of the song
I agree with chuckie. I'm thinking the spiral of the Fibonacci Sequence is the path of life, and the random events are something that divert this predictable path. I think he was suggesting to embrace that change in our lives.
Something was wrong with the recording you played. It had a tape warble and flatness (in terms of pitch). Also seems a few bpm slower than normal. In your effort to have ultimate quality (FLAC) you got something far worse somehow.
man i thought i was the only one. i think its something on UA-cam's end and i doubt they actually ended up with such an atrocious version of the song. at least i hope not lmao
If you listen to the whole album especially songs like The Patient, and Parabola you see that Maynard is trying to engage in looking towards a higher state of consciousness and reflecting on an overall purpose for living.
Solomon from the bible did that same thing, and his conclusion was that purpose of a man is to eat, drink, be merry and find joy in your work and to fear the Lord.
@skyhigh315 To answer your original question - we should "fear" God in reverence and respect of His holiness. Assuming you believe in an omniscient, omnipotent being, shouldn't that be the case? If you don't believe in one, then it's a moot point and completely understandable that it doesn't make sense. To address your further point, in the original Hebrew this fear isn't meant as a cowering or dread of God, but rather a reverence for His sovereign holiness. Similar to a child fearing and respecting the power of a parent, but not the parent themselves (in a healthy relationship). Hope that paints a better picture for you.
I heard Tool for the first time in my mates car. The 1st song was stinkfist. Then I looked them up and found Lateralus. My mind was forever altered. Truly one of those experiences that you never forget.
I found you by complete accident, watching Tool Videos, and could not stop watching. As a TOOL fan I love your point of view on the songs, and openness.
This album is amazing and I remember losing myself to this entire album back in high school. This is possibly the finest musical composition I’ve experienced and each time I hear this song it gets inside me.
Not sure if this has been mentioned already in your plethora of comments here but I think there's another point that deserves mention here. Maynard's writing process for lyrics with Tool are unique in that he never writes anything until the instrumentals are complete or nearly so. He immerses himself in the music before ever writing a word. I think this is important especially given the nature of this song.
I like a few songs from Puscifer but I found out tool half an hour ago. Now I'm binge searching reactions to their songs, I had shivers down my spine when I first listened to tool, to be specific it was mother Mary won't you whisper.
This song is about the most intimate aspects of knowing thyelf, and the process of consciously ascending through the realms of “higher” conscious experience.
The "horns" are innocuous, by the way. Ronnie James Dio popularized that gesture in the metal community long ago. I saw him on VH1 explaining it, it was his Italian grandmother's superstitious gesture to ward off evil. So ironically, what has come to be known as devil horns are actually the complete opposite...
Minute 7:22(of the actual song) never fails to bring a tear to my eye and put a giant smile on my face. It’s exciting to see someone experience that moment for the first time.
You guys did an amazing job dissecting this song. I love how deep you went in and how you allowed the song to play it's full 9:42 without interruption. Hats off!
Justin chancellor- bass player... Adam Jones- Guitar Maynard Keenan- Incredible vocals And the man himself Danny Carey on the sticks! My absolute favorite TOOL song! How do we recommend songs for you to check out?
The colors reference is what an infant sees first in the order he describes. That's why he says in my infancy. Its what most experts believe we see first are those colors.
I think its way deeper than that, tool's lyrics are rarely taken literally. Early languages could only describe light and dark, or black and white. Later on came red, mostly describing the color of our blood, then yellow came to be, describing the sun. For example blue didnt exist until recent times in vast majority of languages.
@Crooked Chi I dunno bud, you may be over thinking... over analyzing. Black and White are all I see, in my infancy, red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me, lets me see... Is pretty much a literal description of how sight develops in humans. Now the "infancy" Maynard refers to may be esoteric, but taken with the warning about thinking too much, it's probably ok to take this verse at face value. www.bausch.com/vision-and-age/infant-eyes/eye-development
I think its probably more so like, black and white imply that one is seeing stark differences in things and dividing them. Ie good and evil. Two additional colors are expanding this mindset Theres also something called “ the great work” which is an alchemical concept. There are four phases which are tied to the colors black -> white -> yellow -> red
sorry but if infants only see a few colours, they'd have something wrong with their eyes. We are not dogs or other animals that can't observe all the colours in the rainbow, only people with colour blindness have that problem, not infants.
I have to say that I have received more of a spiritual connection to God through Tool than anything in my life. I saw them at aftershock a few weeks ago. I’m much older now, it took everything I had in me to go because I just was diagnosed with leukemia after I bought the tickets. As a matter of fact the very day after they released Fear Inoculum as a single. That song inspired me to be more positive and to “exhale” and “expel” the “contagion”. At the concert, however, I had tears most of the time. I got right up front and with this diagnosis every word meant something different this time and I have never felt so close to god than when they played Parabol/parabola. It was actually that feeling I always hoped to feel in church but never did. It was overwhelming. I haven’t checked to see if you have reviewed that one yet but if not I hope you do. Also the new album is beautiful perfection.
Cristobal Gevert yes, they would love Porcupine Tree, maybe they should start off with Arriving Somewhere but not here, but either way that can’t go wrong
@mrbozohead not just Routine, In that case they will have to listen to the whole Hand. Cannot. Erase. album. Its has to be listened from start to finish
Lateralus, one of my all time favorite songs! I literally travel through space, dimensions and time at light speed listening to this. It’s a great voyage musically, lyrically and Maynard’s amazing vocals!
I was first introduced to Tool by the video sober and I've been hooked ever since now that I'm a 60 year old black man I can't help but dust off the first 4 albums of tool and just rock the hell out my top three bands of all time is tool Living Color and Godsmack.
Pastor Rob, I do want you to react to Talk Talk by A Perfect Circle. He makes a great point in the lyrics and I want to hear your reaction to it. The lyrics mention how Christians always say that their thoughts and prayers are with someone who has had something horrible happen to them. The problem is that in most cases, that is all people do. They send out their thoughts and prayers and don't actually go out and physically help.
You should be reading Genesis. Nothing then light. Black then white. Random is Chaos. Fibonacci / Golden ratio. Order. Thinking of these things is trying to understand the Divine. Over analysing separates the body from the mind. You can't understand the Depth of these things and still feel human. Try to talk to anyone about the scale of everything and still feel normal.
Cave paintings? lol. He's being literal. We see only black and white when we are born. After the first few months of infancy, we develop the ability to detect red wavelength light, followed by yellow, etc. This is why infants are so enamored with fans. The movement of the blades against white ceilings are easily noticed by infants given its high contrast.
Honestly he could be talking about both at the same time, Tool’s lyrics are so cryptic I doubt there will ever be a concrete answer. Thats the beauty of it.
This song is about not overanalyzing, and it really is exemplified in the first verse. When you're born, you can only see blocky shapes of black and white. Within the first few months, your eyes develop enough to where you can see bright colors, with red being the first one to take shape. The first verse is very, very literal! That's the big hint that most of the lyrics should be taken at face value, especially since they explicitly talk about just enjoying the power of music.
Red is the lowest frequency color, followed by orange, yellow, then all the way up to violet 🌈 discerning higher and higher frequencies of color through ever-developing fresh eyes is literal enlightenment, you can recognize more types of light. And so, it can also be tied metaphorically to developing a greater and greater sense of consciousness.

The two things I like the most about Tool: 1. It's an immersive experience. They redefine how rock/metal music is consumed. 2. They make you earn the right to "tap your toe" to their songs. The odd time signatures, and how Danny Carey hides them so well makes you have to listen to it over and over to be able to groove to it. Oh, and don't forget the GONG toward the end!

The entirety of the Lateralus album is musically fantastic, the song directly after this one, Disposition, is worth a good listen as well. Keep it up, love watching the vids!
Next, you guys should react to the live version of Sober by Tool. It's amazing how crazy easy it is for him to hit the notes. His vocal range is truly amazing. Great job guys. Keep it up.

Welcome to tool my man 😂😂
Justin chancellor is a god among men I’m telling you
Tool is so talented, it's not even fair.
To understand that the mathematics of God are present, to understand that there is actually _order in all of the chaos,_ and to still be a human simultaneously living your life as if fate was not decided for you.
the balance of free will and fate
Infants see black and white first, then they see red. Yellow and blue are next. Then by five months they see all the other colors. I actually set up my daughter's room colors based on this song.
Not if you are colorblind
@@danielharris5661 Which is rare, so for the majority the order is true.

I'm pretty sure that it should be regarded as peak Tool, everything after is kind of less of an evolution and more of a consistent sound. Prior to this Opiate -> Undertow -> Aenima were all building to what Lateralus was like
The Lateralus album was meant to be listened from start to finish, almost like an opera or a novel.

@Arte del Diablo To be fair artists tend to unconsciously give symbolism to their work. They might say that it meant nothing, but one could argue that your "doodles" might not be doodles at all. Instead, they might be an expression coming directly from your psyche.

People are overthinking and overanalyzing the part "red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me, lets me see" in my opinion. When a child is first born it sees only in black and white. The next color is red then yellow. If you think about that in the context of the song it makes perfect sense. This represents growth which is a the main theme of the song really, always growing, learning or spiraling out
Totally agree, I interpret that part the same way, for my it makes sense
I'm pretty sure it is meant that way, meaning growth, but the colours weren't chosen at random (I'm pretty sure). Looking at the linguistic origin of colours, as a language we first distinguish black and white (light & dark colours) followed by red as a third and yellow as a fourth. If I'm not mistaken, that's why MJK chose those numbers. (There is an amazing video on yt, I believe by Vox, explaining how colours came to be in languages around the world)

natty features EVERYTHING that’s not a branch of paganism.

Hey guys, love the fact that you are looking at Tool and being so open minded and putting your own thoughts into it and trying to find meaning in the music. It's also amazing that you are applying the lessons of your faith to the lessons that I think Maynard tries to put into our minds as an audience. The one that I wanted to say in respect to what you were saying was on the discussion on the verse "swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human."
In respect to the verse, and in respect to the theme of the song.

Schism is so fucking played out, it's not even good anymore. There are far better songs to review.
If you want time changes, The Dance of Eternity by Dream Theater.
To embrace the random is letting yourself go with the flow but not letting yourself go out of control.
chuckiebobphil this is precisely how I see it!
While I enjoy watching people's reactions to songs, it appears that these two are "overthinking and overanalyzing." Lol

Ughhhh its so gross

Not sure if this has been mentioned already in your plethora of comments here but I think there's another point that deserves mention here.

Or you could put your recommendation in your comment asking how to make a recommendation
The colors reference is what an infant sees first in the order he describes. That's why he says in my infancy. Its what most experts believe we see first are those colors.
I think its more about your mind expanding as you age or become enlightened.
Two additional colors are expanding this mindset
Theres also something called “ the great work” which is an alchemical concept. There are four phases which are tied to the colors black -> white -> yellow -> red
sorry but if infants only see a few colours, they'd have something wrong with their eyes. We are not dogs or other animals that can't observe all the colours in the rainbow, only people with colour blindness have that problem, not infants.
Top 10 reactions, and ive watched them all. love your take guys

Why not "Stinkfist"?
Seeing them in concert is an experience. There is divinity in the higher vibrations, Lower vibrations , and the instrumental rifts in between

Tool is and will always be in my opinion the greatest, most talented and creative band ever. Artistry at its absolute best
You should check out the song Talk Talk from A Perfect Circle.
Michael Perez yes!!!
Yesss!!!
Yes, want to see if your thoughts are close to what I’m thinking for “Talk Talk”
This one Pastor Rob!
I've heard "Math Metal" used to describe the band The Dillinger Escape Plan.
I've heard it used to describe Protest The Hero

@@adamstevenson8737 oh yeah!
The Mars volta
I think Rush is considered math rock so there has to be math metal

Even the other colors resample rebirth/birt in native American culture
red and yellow then came to be or something lol anyway good song
Wow I did not know that. Cool. Love learning new stuff in the most unexpected places 😎
Painter, precisely why I sing this song to my children as a lullaby.
Great job pastor. You are reaching a different audience that some of us older people who never tried to understand this type of music
For more of Tool's take on alchemy, react to "The Grudge"
Definitely worth mentioning.
I agree. The Grudge is a MUST!
"The Grudge" also has elements of Astrology, but you can argue Alchemy and Astrology go hand in hand.
YES

@@roberthoughton7127 It's true lol
@@thehllw I wish I would have thought to say that in the video!
I'm not a Christian myself, but I love how open minded you guys are. You give hope to believers. Lol I watch you guys videos and I will say you guys are on the low Tool fans. They're the best and you guys are awesome as well.
Huge tool fan. Love the breakdown, can’t wait for their new music
“To swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human” has been giving me goosebumps and chills since I was a teenager.
I see Tool and hipflanders, i click and like.
Hip Flanders 🤣
HIPFLANDERS

The entirety of the Lateralus album is musically fantastic, the song directly after this one, Disposition, is worth a good listen as well. Keep it up, love watching the vids!
Sam Holley disposition/reflection/triad as a play through Melts the mind! Sooooo good

L Ron Hubbard would be rolling in his grave. There are better Tool songs though.
That one lyric at the end is gonna stun them lol

Next, you guys should react to the live version of Sober by Tool. It's amazing how crazy easy it is for him to hit the notes. His vocal range is truly amazing.
Great job guys. Keep it up.
Enjoyed gentlemen. You could just do every Tool song and I'm happy with that. Every song is a new adventure with amazement of the quality of work Tool puts in from all 4 band members.
Pastor Rob, you're awesome. It's so great to see a man of faith with a such an open mind.
alright...now Rosetta stoned......but bring new underwear..because there is a almost euphoric part in it (just like Wings for Marie but on a WHOLE another level)...all i can say is.........dont forget your pen!.........lol... you will get it if you listen to it.
Totally agree. Ive watched my CATS trip from listening to that song. No bullshit, the voices started and my cat looked like a tweeker after 3 days no sleep.
"Overwhelmed as one would be..."
Wish I could like this comment twice.
The end of rosetta stoned....good god
Rosetta Stoned is an amazing song, but it's one that I almost think you have to have done alot of drugs to really comprehend.
