Freddie has a degree in graphic art, Roger Taylor on drums has a degree in biology, John Deacon on base guitar has an engineering degree, and lead guitarist Dr. Brian May has a Phd in astrophysics. They are all brilliant singers and have each written hit records for the band. You're gonna be surprised at how much of their music you actually know.
After one of the Shows in Philly, we went to the Penrose Diner, for a bite, and sitting in a booth was Brian, John & Roger doing the same, Freddie was not with them, I thought I was gonna die, it was so shocking, I walked past to the restroom, & whispered Fantastic Show boys, & they smiled...and I went back to my booth.A true highlight, I adored Roger true Story 😊❤❤❤
I'm 62 and it gives me great pleasure to understand that you young people recognize at least some of you the Beautiful music that came before you. I know that I forgot music existed before I did. And only after years of grief an anger that I came home to love music again I love music and I love you if you read this
Scientifically proven that no other voice has ever been the same in recent history. Physical gifts plus un-matched artistry and showmanship by the whole band.
His voice is gold because he was a gift from God, only on earth for 45 years, but a gift to us all, and his music and talent (and the talent of all 4 of Queen) live forever.
His talents were absolutely God given. He appreciated that & worked mightily to realize his potential. He was brilliant in so many ways ,unique & unforgettable . P.S I read that the drink was tea with possibly honey for his throat.
Freddy was a freak of nature honestly. His range was absolutely insane. He had very high roof of his mouth which allowed him to have that crazy range. Paired with possibly the best tone out of any guitarists, a drummer with a solid falsetto, a bassist that wrote some of the most timeless bass riffs of all time, and all four of them write music and lyrics... you have a match made in heaven
Sometimes I think about how stupid lucky you have to be to get a group like this. Or the Beatles for example, how is it that these people just find each other.
The thing I enjoy most about people discovering Queen is not when they see how incredible Freddie is, that's a given, it's when they discover how immensely talented John, Roger and Brian are. How each wrote songs that reached #1 on the charts. When they dive deep and listen to songs like '39 and I'm in love with my car to see how amazing Brian and Roger's voices are. When they hear all of John's iconic bass lines. When they get into songs with deep meanings or realize a song they've heard a million times is made by queen. And of course, once they see these 4 perform live. In my opinion, the epitome of a perfect band. Yes, Freddie gets the attention, as he should, there will never be anyone like him, but man, Queen isn't Queen if any of the 4 aren't there.
Freddie was literally a human metronome, and is widely known for his clarity of enunciation. The magic increases exponentially in the live versions. I think they are the greatest rock ensemble of all time.

As much as I love this recording, I absolutely adore the live version in Montreal 1981. I've heard it hundreds of times and it still gives me goosebumps. The best live performance EVER!! Long live Queen ❤️❤️❤️
It has been 50 years since Queen formed. and twenty one years with Freddie.. Most bands maybe last a few years now a days but this just goes to show you how special this band was and How much Brian and Roger still love Freddie.
They love Freddie? LOL Why then was Freddie portrayed as such a tormented villain of the band in the biopic, the biopic that made soooo much money for May and Taylor? Now the younger gens keep quoting the movie repeating things Freddie NEVER said and making statements about him as based on a completely fabricated narcissistic and self-loathing character, which Freddie never was! May has always competed with Freddie and does so to this day! It’s sordid.
I was lucky enough to see them twice! ❤️❤️❤️There has never been any band as good as Queen. All four so talented and ahead of their time! When the press would say that Freddie was Queen, he would always reply, “There are four of us in the band darling, I’m just the lead singer!”
Both performance versions are worth watching--both in formal blue attire and the other both dressed in formal black tux/gown! Also must watch the other duets with the paired Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé "The Golden Boy " and " How do I go on"
Freddie has a fantastic vocal range - soft, sweet falsettos up to gravely, harsh tones and everything else in between & beyond. Glad you listen to Official Versions of Queen first because you get the delicate harmonies that they are known for. Now when you move onto their live concerts you will appreciate that this band was freaking incredible. They don't mess around. You'll get the performances that will blow you away. For this particular song, "Somebody To Love - Queen Live in Montreal 1981".

The live one to watch on this song is at Montreal. Good reaction to this song. Yeah, even the studio version of this song is great. All the members of Queen are He. All men who identify as men.
We will never see that wonderful, unique, beautiful music again. But I just keep playing it . Never dies . One of Freddie's words " Bliss" again " Bliss .💋
What is it about you honey? You are infectious- joyful- I hope you join all of the Queen fans- I am 69 years old and love seeing your appreciation of Freddie and Queen- now- around 200 more songs to go-😉😉👏👏. Your reaction was fabulous!!
I only discovered Free Love a few weeks ago. IT WAS STUNNING. I couldn’t believe it was him (until he dropped briefly to a lower note) I’ve talked to few Queen fans who hadn’t heard it. (Or the Barcelona album, either.) So Thankful 😁
Can you >imagine how much fun that it was to be living when all of this great music was happening? I have been around for all of it, but at least you can see it now. He was great. His band was great!
Fun fact: Though Freddie didn't consider himself to be a great pianist, he was. Watch his hands, the way he dips his wrists down. He was triple jointed and, according to those who knew him well, could bend his hands all the way back. Very flexible all over, too, thus some of his iconic moves onstage, bending over backwards, etc.
Kerry, hyper-flexible wrist is NOT something to boast about. It points at a weakness in the wrist and poor hand positioning. So, As good and entertaining as Freddie was, he was not a great pianist. He also completed only 4 out of 8 grades of the piano proficiency course.
I was born in the 50's. Queen was my favorite band in the 70's. Freddie and his voice is legend. Love your reaction to him! I'm happy you've discovered Queen's talent.
They are all extremely talented. Freddie Mercury is lead singer and piano. Roger Taylor is the drummer and back ground vocals. Brian May is guitarist and background vocals. John Deacan is Bassist. They all wrote multiple hit songs for Queen.
Freddie was out of this world....his vocal range is vast, he can sing high and low and everything inbetween to perfection and his voice can suit any genre of music because he is so versatile. He wrote the best song in history...well that's what everyone voted plus he wrote many other classics. He is an incredible composer and his music is art with so many transitions and unique styles, he could pack out stadiums... he was the brain behind all the videos and how they are so artistic...he can play lots of musical instruments very well....his stage presence is second to nobody....he was a quite humble man but at the drop of the hat he could be the most charismatic colourful character ever. Every part of being a great musician Freddie has those skills and talent but his is on another level but let's not forget the rest of the band each of whom contributed by them all writing songs and all being very artistic and skilled musicians in their own right....and put all 4 of them together and you get musical nirvana in Queen.
Ah man. Your face! From what I've heard about Freddie, he would be so pleased that you listening to their music put such a huge smile on your face. So glad you enjoyed it. Made me smile too 😁👏👏
Check out His performance at the Live Aid Concert in 1985. And then find the crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody before a Green Day concert in 2017 long after Freddie passed. . Unbelievable how he lives on for his fans, even those who weren't born when he died. He was the Greatest Showman.
Freddie's pronounce was he. The studio version is great, but you have to check out the live version from Montreal. If you think this is good...just wait.
I just have to say how much I LOVE your reaction. To see some one recognize how amazing Freddie's voice is but also how amazing the background vocals are. I watch reactions to chase the feeling I got the first time I heard them. If I had a men in black "flashy thingy" I would use it so I could hear them for the fist time again.
Please check out the 1981 live version. The band was on fire. As for Marc Martel, he is a Freddie Mercury sound alike and IMO is the best option for seeing and hearing the studio versions live today. The video you mentioned was his audition for Queen's official tribute band. He got the job. His solo Bohemian Rhapsody has 46 million views and his tribute show is fantastic. Enjoy the Queen rabbit hole. I got lost in it a few years ago. Its a great ride!
Ohhhh my dear...you will be utterly amazed at the diversity of the band Queen! Freddie Mercury is hands down one of the best entertainers, artists to bless us with his astounding talent.
Good reaction. Marc Martel is very good; he was selected for the Queen extravaganza tour although not with Queen members, they did select the members to do it. Marc also recorded bits and pieces used in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.
Queen and Freddie are the best! I really enjoy your reactions to them and am so happy you are enjoying what we’ve enjoyed for the past 50 years! More Queen please!
Been listening to Queen for 30 years, never get tired of listening to them - and I remember exactly where I was the moment I heard Freddie Mercury had died!
its so heart warming seeing someone feel wat i felt wem i first listened to his songs, my dad got me to listen to them when i was really young and im glad he did cus i would never be in love with music as much as i am now if he didnt. i cant wait for him to see the live performances
Freddie Mercury had a unique voice that allowed himself and the other members of Queen to sing in every genre. All of the group contributed to their impressive catalogue of music. This is also why Queen, despite the loss of Freddie, is still as strong as when the songs were first written and performed. Queen now has a new front man in Adam Lambert who also shares Freddie's unbelievable talent and has been touring with Queen for the last seven years. If you get a chance, take a listen to him.
Glad that you are listening to studio versions as well as live. The are both amazing. In the studio versions, you get the full effect of what they envisioned the work to be - lots of multi-layering and taking the technology of the time as far as it can go. Brian May (the lead guitarist) said he listens to their studio stuff and he doesn’t know how they did it with the technology available then. Then the live versions - a little stripped down from the studio versions, but no less spectacular. Some songs I prefer the studio versions, some I like the live version better. My only advice is that when you listen to the studio versions, use headphones. You will be amazed. Hope you enjoy this adventure into Queen’s music - they were totally unique and you will never hear a song that sounds like another Queen song or any other song - and there will be some you know, but didn’t know it was Queen. (And they have VERY passionate fans. I’m one of them from the early days). LOL
If you are just jumping into the classic rock rabbit hole, you have a long, amazing trip ahead! No better place to start than with Queen and the immortal Freddie Mercury!
Liite! LOL, you're such a joy to watch! I just discovered you, discovering Queen or should I say, Freddie! Yes, he is a he lol. I think you would enjoy reading up on this man and learning about his background. All I can say is that if you think you're blown away now?!? Wait until you discover how he became this way from early childhood. You'll love this man that much more! Keep up the good work, your reactions are truly refreshing! BTW Freddie also sang with Montserrat Cabella Barcelona. He wrote the song and sang both parts to her and she agreed to sing with him. She's a famous Soprano Opera Singer whom he idolized. He was so nervous. lol
Great reaction!! My favorite cover of this song is done by George Michael as a tribute to Freddie. Also, you absolutely MUST react to their Live Aid performance at Wimbley. It is one of the most epic moments in music history.
I think that the most amazing thing about Freddie Mercury was that he actually outdid himself and Bohemian Rhapsody when he wrote Somebody To Love. This song still blows my mind.
QUEEN is the name of the band!! HE the greatest vocalist & frontman in the world FREDDIE MERCURY! Brilliant musicians in the studio and masters of the live performance! In 2020, Queen voted best live rock band of all time! It is required by law that after watching the studio version you must watch & witness the live version! Every version of Somebody To Love is unique!! Most fans request Montreal 1981 which is perfection ... I do like the Milton Keynes 1982 version, too due to the energy oozing from Freddie!! It’s HOT HOT 🥵🔥🔥
Wonderful reactions, thank you ❤ I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it before, but .. the actual biological reason why Freddie’s voice is so golden and magical .. he had 4 extra teeth. He never had the dental work to fix it (thank goodness) and it pushed his teeth out of alignment as he grew. This resulted in his 4 octave vocal range, which is considered rare. We can all thank Mother Nature and the NHS Dental plan in England (healthcare is free, dental is not!) for Queen. And I know it’s been YEARS since you posted the video, and I haven’t looked through all of your videos yet, but you should reach to The crowd at a Green Day concert, singing Bohemian Rhapsody, word for word with no one on stage. 65K plus people. You’ll get goosebumps and it will feel like Freddie’s spirit is in that crowd. ❤
Litte, funny story. When this song first came out I heard it a few times and decided to play it for some friends. The song started and everyone kind of looked at each other. And I said...give it time. By the end everyone was dancing around and everywhere you went for the next six moths this song was playing. Bless the 70's. We had the music.
You already know this i think but Freddie is considered to be one of the best singers / musicians to have ever lived. Can´t wait for your reactions to LIVE performances. Freddie was one of a kind when it came to crowd interaction.
No one, and no band like Freddie and Queen. You're right, do the studio and then the live. they are both so good and sometimes so different. Both fantastic.
I agree - I like thst he is doing the studio versions first. These are pure art, constructed to perfection. The live versions show Freddie’s incredible energy and one-of-a-kind showmanship, but his stunning and unique vocal talent can most fully be appreciated in the studio versions IMO. These are masterpieces.
His accurate enunciation of every word he sings (and speaks) is what allows him to "speak" to us. Grew up with these guys in my teens. I dont get tired of listening to him.

The live one to watch on this song is at Montreal. Good reaction to this song. Yeah, even the studio version of this song is great. All the members of Queen are He. All men who identify as men.
It may be Freddie's best single song performance ever. Of Course Live Aid may be the best set ever in rock history.
My fav rendition of this song
We will never see that wonderful, unique, beautiful music again. But I just keep playing it . Never dies . One of Freddie's words " Bliss" again " Bliss .💋
What is it about you honey? You are infectious- joyful-
I hope you join all of the Queen fans- I am 69 years old and love seeing your appreciation of Freddie and Queen- now- around 200 more songs to go-😉😉👏👏. Your reaction was fabulous!!
Please listen to Freddie singing the opera songs he wrote- or better yet- ‘Exercises in Free Love’ YOU WILL FLIP OUT!! Love you-
I only discovered Free Love a few weeks ago. IT WAS STUNNING. I couldn’t believe it was him (until he dropped briefly to a lower note)
I’ve talked to few Queen fans who hadn’t heard it. (Or the Barcelona album, either.) So Thankful 😁

Totally agree .🦘
MASTER AT WORK!!!!!
R.I.P FREDDIE WE HEAR YOU SINGING FROM HEAVEN
Awesome to watch someone discover Freddie for the first time! He was very special!
@@papabearM3 I wonder how many grades Mozart Beethoven and Chopin passed?

Iris, I love Freddie very much.
Made me smile too 😁👏👏
I was so lucky to see them live when I was 16 at Cobo Hall in Detroit, 1980 or 81. The guitarist is an astrophysicist. Such a loss when Freddie died.
One of the greatest bands!! Freddie (he) was a musical genius!!
YESSSS live version at Montreal 1981.
I love watching someone discovering queen for their first time!
Freddie had a 4 octave range hence he could quickly go high and low with ease which you will hear when you listen to the live stuff
Ur smile makes me smile 😃 he is gifted an a beautiful voice ....never get sick of listening 2 him .....an d guitarist is Brian May ...stunning also ✋
Please check out the 1981 live version.
Love your reactions! In addition to White Queen, you might also like Take My Breath Away
Great vid dude. Fred was simply the greatest frontman ever. I don’t see how anyone can be greater than him with a mic and on a stage.
Good reaction. Marc Martel is very good; he was selected for the Queen extravaganza tour although not with Queen members, they did select the members to do it. Marc also recorded bits and pieces used in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.
so beautiful what you said "how talented a human being can be". never heard more appropriate words for freddie! you nailed it!
Queen and Freddie are the best! I really enjoy your reactions to them and am so happy you are enjoying what we’ve enjoyed for the past 50 years! More Queen please!
Freddie is a vocalist we will literally never get again !! He was one on a million
Oh hey! A new Queen fan! I’m here for this journey....:)
I love the genuine reaction. The admiration for the voice, composition and instrumentals is so refreshing.
Wait till you do the live version at Montreal...you are going to love it
No auto tune, no tracks, no nothing except GOD given talent.
Been listening to Queen for 30 years, never get tired of listening to them - and I remember exactly where I was the moment I heard Freddie Mercury had died!
Nice reaction. More QUEEN please
its so heart warming seeing someone feel wat i felt wem i first listened to his songs, my dad got me to listen to them when i was really young and im glad he did cus i would never be in love with music as much as i am now if he didnt. i cant wait for him to see the live performances
Please please please keep doing Queen reactions, and as many have said, their live performances should not be overlooked, to say the least!
LOL
Adding this comment because I want to give you more likes. ✔✔✔✔✔
If you are just jumping into the classic rock rabbit hole, you have a long, amazing trip ahead!
No better place to start than with Queen and the immortal Freddie Mercury!
Welcome to Queen, the best band ever. Freddie Mercury, Dr. Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon 💛
Professor Brian May even.
Oh my god what I would GIVE to get that first chill of hearing anything Freddie Mercury sings for the first time again. I envy you 😂
Great reaction, your smiles along the reaction, makes it all good for me youngman. Thankyou and Looking forward to more Queen. Much bless to You!
I’m a Hugh Queen fan. Can’t listen to any of their songs without the hair on the back of my neck standing up. WONDERFUL Magic 🇬🇧
And growing up on Queen, I don’t think Freddie Mercury would care what pronoun you use. He loved everybody. And his voice was gold. Pure gold.
Naughty Freddie expertly showcasing his pole climbing expertise. If this was an Olympic ◯◯◯◯◯ event he would win the GOLD ♉(ˆ⌣ˆ)
I love your pure reaction of admiration and awe of one of the very best singers and bands of all time!
Yes, his voice is gold, no autotune, just Freddie and the boys belting it out and sounding like they had a choir...they didn't, it was ALL Queen.
❤
If you love the range of his vocals "Under Pressure " will blow you away.
OMG yes!!! And also the late but absolutely GREAT David Bowie...who is also sorely missed just like our angel Freddie
Flawless
Litte, funny story. When this song first came out I heard it a few times and decided to play it for some friends. The song started and everyone kind of looked at each other. And I said...give it time. By the end everyone was dancing around and everywhere you went for the next six moths this song was playing. Bless the 70's. We had the music.
You already know this i think but Freddie is considered to be one of the best singers / musicians to have ever lived. Can´t wait for your reactions to LIVE performances. Freddie was one of a kind when it came to crowd interaction.
Well sir, let me say your reaction is one of the best. The love you have for his talent shows. Thank you for your joy.
Freddie would have adored the way you looked while listening to him! He DOES sing so good.
Watch them do this song live in Montreal in 1981,it will blow your socks off
You are taking me back to when I saw Queen. His voice IS golden and hits you exactly where you live. The best secret I ever kept.
That golden voice is a God given talent, welcome to the magic that is Freddie Mercury.
His accurate enunciation of every word he sings (and speaks) is what allows him to "speak" to us. Grew up with these guys in my teens. I dont get tired of listening to him.
And still the only ever group to have number one hits written by all band members..
