As a 60 year old, imagine how that “golden voice” sounded when he first came on the scene. It was literally Angelic.
I'm 62 and it gives me great pleasure to understand that you young people recognize at least some of you the Beautiful music that came before you. I know that I forgot music existed before I did. And only after years of grief an anger that I came home to love music again I love music and I love you if you read this
Freddie has a degree in graphic art, Roger Taylor on drums has a degree in biology, John Deacon on base guitar has an engineering degree, and lead guitarist Dr. Brian May has a Phd in astrophysics. They are all brilliant singers and have each written hit records for the band. You're gonna be surprised at how much of their music you actually know.
They each wrote a number one song
Not even the beatles did that
You have to give it to Roger Taylor for his amazing pipes too! 😍
After one of the Shows in Philly, we went to the Penrose Diner, for a bite, and sitting in a booth was Brian, John & Roger doing the same, Freddie was not with them, I thought I was gonna die, it was so shocking, I walked past to the restroom, & whispered Fantastic Show boys, & they smiled...and I went back to my booth.A true highlight, I adored Roger true Story 😊❤❤❤
@@caroleann_2142 Wow! I wish I'd been there too.
@@Chris-kj7de I Wondered why are they....Here? No room service? 🥰
Freddy was a freak of nature honestly. His range was absolutely insane. He had very high roof of his mouth which allowed him to have that crazy range. Paired with possibly the best tone out of any guitarists, a drummer with a solid falsetto, a bassist that wrote some of the most timeless bass riffs of all time, and all four of them write music and lyrics... you have a match made in heaven
Sometimes I think about how stupid lucky you have to be to get a group like this. Or the Beatles for example, how is it that these people just find each other.
His voice is gold because he was a gift from God, only on earth for 45 years, but a gift to us all, and his music and talent (and the talent of all 4 of Queen) live forever.
His talents were absolutely God given. He appreciated that & worked mightily to realize his potential. He was brilliant in so many ways ,unique & unforgettable .
P.S I read that the drink was tea with possibly honey for his throat.
Im legit worried for you. When you finally watch Freddie performing live, youre gonna have a mini stroke
Doctor should be on stand-by 😂
.....charging paddles to defibrillate!! 😂

In my opinion Freddie Mercury RIP was the greatest frontman ever. Can't wait for you to get to their live performances
Yes! The live versions are excellent!
It's live so a.s.a.p you need to watch it.
@zappafan11 Freddie had the range and he was gifted with 4 octave of vocal range so u can't compare Freddie with Steve.
@zappafan11 No! You're so WRONG. FREDDIE DID THE MOST. PLAYED 4 INSTRUMENTS! COULD SING GREAT OPERA TOO.
@zappafan11 Freddie had the Audience Connection
They Connected to him Like NO OTHERS! YOU'RE MISSING HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS
Freddie was literally a human metronome, and is widely known for his clarity of enunciation. The magic increases exponentially in the live versions. I think they are the greatest rock ensemble of all time.
Freddie can never be replaced.. you right he is GOLD always will be
You love his voice because he was and still is regarded as the BEST male vocalist and frontman of all time. Wait until you see him live on stage!
#MIND #BLOWING
This band is LEGENDARY!
This^^100%.
The thing I enjoy most about people discovering Queen is not when they see how incredible Freddie is, that's a given, it's when they discover how immensely talented John, Roger and Brian are. How each wrote songs that reached #1 on the charts. When they dive deep and listen to songs like '39 and I'm in love with my car to see how amazing Brian and Roger's voices are. When they hear all of John's iconic bass lines. When they get into songs with deep meanings or realize a song they've heard a million times is made by queen.
And of course, once they see these 4 perform live. In my opinion, the epitome of a perfect band. Yes, Freddie gets the attention, as he should, there will never be anyone like him, but man, Queen isn't Queen if any of the 4 aren't there.
Some people forget Queen were four equal parts , Freddie would often mention that .
100% true
Queen is amazing because there are 4 truly gifted musicians. They found each other and that is gods plan. They make heavenly music!!
YES!!
Fun fact! Brian May is a astrophysician🤗
I love how your face breaks into a spontaneous uncontrollable smile every time you hear Freddie
Freddie is the best singer and Showman that has ever been put on Earth. He died way too soon but his music will live on forever
Great reaction. Freddie Mercury can sing anything. The whole band is amazing. Now watch it live in Montreal 81 ty
The Montreal version is like the studio version on steroids. 🔥🔥
You gotta check out Marc Martel! Voice coaches say that "He is the Reincarnation of Freddie Mercury" 💯Haunting reaction!!

I was at that concert in Montreal. Amazing beyond words
Between the instruments and vocals Queen pulls you in...it's like they hug you and won't let go

As much as I love this recording, I absolutely adore the live version in Montreal 1981. I've heard it hundreds of times and it still gives me goosebumps. The best live performance EVER!! Long live Queen ❤️❤️❤️
Nobody can ever compair to Freddie. He is a diamond in the sky with an unbelievable voice.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Queen live versions are even better in my opinion! Freddie Mercury greatest vocalist and performer of all time 🐐
Montreal 1981 is LEGENDARY
yep...Freddie AND QUEEN...is going viral with 1981 Montreal...keep it moving....
Not the greatest vocalist. But he is incredible

It has been 50 years since Queen formed. and twenty one years with Freddie.. Most bands maybe last a few years now a days but this just goes to show you how special this band was and How much Brian and Roger still love Freddie.
Thy are truly a Band of Brothers!!
It's been 30 years since Freddie passed in November
They love Freddie? LOL Why then was Freddie portrayed as such a tormented villain of the band in the biopic, the biopic that made soooo much money for May and Taylor? Now the younger gens keep quoting the movie repeating things Freddie NEVER said and making statements about him as based on a completely fabricated narcissistic and self-loathing character, which Freddie never was!
May has always competed with Freddie and does so to this day! It’s sordid.
Scientifically proven that no other voice has ever been the same in recent history. Physical gifts plus un-matched artistry and showmanship by the whole band.
I was lucky enough to see them twice! ❤️❤️❤️There has never been any band as good as Queen. All four so talented and ahead of their time! When the press would say that Freddie was Queen, he would always reply, “There are four of us in the band darling, I’m just the lead singer!”
Welcome to the rabbit hole. You haven't even scratched the surface. They are so incredible live that every song has two faces. Must check out the live in Montreal concert of somebody to love if you want to be impressed. Love your reactions to Queen. Welcome to the Queen Army.
YESSSS - Voted in 2020 best live Rock Band of all time!
@@debramoore7513 DOUBLE HOORAY \(^o^)/*\(^o^)/
This was inspired from Aretha Franklin..Freddie loved her. He said this was his best and favourite song.
Freddie has a fantastic vocal range - soft, sweet falsettos up to gravely, harsh tones and everything else in between & beyond. Glad you listen to Official Versions of Queen first because you get the delicate harmonies that they are known for. Now when you move onto their live concerts you will appreciate that this band was freaking incredible. They don't mess around. You'll get the performances that will blow you away. For this particular song, "Somebody To Love - Queen Live in Montreal 1981".
I have just discovered your channel this morning and your reactions are so pure and genuine. I grew up with my parents listening to Queen so have been very aware of their awesome talent for many years but even now I still get goosebumps listening to Freddie's outstanding range and vocals. Will you be doing any new reactions on your channel? So many superb Queen songs are out there along with other wonderful artists!
Fun fact: Though Freddie didn't consider himself to be a great pianist, he was. Watch his hands, the way he dips his wrists down. He was triple jointed and, according to those who knew him well, could bend his hands all the way back. Very flexible all over, too, thus some of his iconic moves onstage, bending over backwards, etc.
Kerry, hyper-flexible wrist is NOT something to boast about. It points at a weakness in the wrist and poor hand positioning. So, As good and entertaining as Freddie was, he was not a great pianist. He also completed only 4 out of 8 grades of the piano proficiency course.
@@papabearM3 I wonder how many grades Mozart Beethoven and Chopin passed?
@@iriscollins7583
Iris, I love Freddie very much.
Freddie’s voice has been studied by scientists and universities!!
After you react to the live version (Montreal, best). Next check out: Killer Queen, You Take my Breath Away , and Don’t Stop Me Now.
You’re just getting started. Glad you listened to the requests. You will have a blast!!
Please check out the 1981 live version. The band was on fire.
As for Marc Martel, he is a Freddie Mercury sound alike and IMO is the best option for seeing and hearing the studio versions live today. The video you mentioned was his audition for Queen's official tribute band. He got the job.
His solo Bohemian Rhapsody has 46 million views and his tribute show is fantastic.
Enjoy the Queen rabbit hole. I got lost in it a few years ago. Its a great ride!
it's so heartwarming to see somebody seeing the GOLD in Freddie so long after his death. The world lost one of the greatest in him
YOu're going to be fun discovering Queen. "He's so into it" .. every. single. performance!
His name is Freddie Mercury and he’s rated the best rock vocalist in history! Queen is an amazing band and one of the best in history. They were together 20 years before Freddie died. His range is off the charts.
You need to hear them live. They sound even better live. It was back in the days there wasn’t any auto tube or tricks. Just pure talent.
You need to react to Somebody To Love live in Montreal 1981.
Also, react to the number 1 rated live rock and roll performance in history. It’s Queen at Live Aid 1985. It was a 16 hour charity event to raise money to help the starving in Ethiopia. Each band had 17 minutes to do their best. Queen stole the show. It’s amazing.
There will never be another Freddie Mercury
I can't remember a moment in my life without Queen and I have raised my children the same way. I can't remember the first time I listened to them, they were always there. I love your reaction and I get so happy seeing you so amazed and how Fk awesome these guys are... Please continue to make videos of your reactions to more of their masterpieces... there's a lot of them but I can assure you you will find an audience!! RIP Freddie
That golden voice is a God given talent, welcome to the magic that is Freddie Mercury.
Freddie's voice was unique in many ways. Have a listen to "Barcelona" his duet with opera singer Montserrat Caballe.
Great suggestion. Freddie singing opera his way. What he could do with his voice!🎶🎤💗
When he offered it up for the Barcelona Olympics he sang both parts
@@patpeck2405 It shows just how talented he was.
Barcelona is one of my favorites, as well as seven seas of rye. But to be honest I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite if someone had a gun to my head
Both performance versions are worth watching--both in formal blue attire and the other both dressed in formal black tux/gown! Also must watch the other duets with the paired Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé "The Golden Boy " and " How do I go on"
If you haven't heard much of this mans music then you're about to have your mind blown... this is tip of the iceberg stuff. I'm so glad to see Queen having this massive resurgence recently.
Yes, his voice is gold, no autotune, just Freddie and the boys belting it out and sounding like they had a choir...they didn't, it was ALL Queen.
I was born in the 50's. Queen was my favorite band in the 70's. Freddie and his voice is legend. Love your reaction to him! I'm happy you've discovered Queen's talent.
The live one to watch on this song is at Montreal. Good reaction to this song. Yeah, even the studio version of this song is great. All the members of Queen are He. All men who identify as men.
It may be Freddie's best single song performance ever. Of Course Live Aid may be the best set ever in rock history.
My fav rendition of this song
Understand you are reacting to studio versions first but can't wait to see your face when you react to the live versions!! 😊 Freddie's voice is fabulous and live his charisma is stellar!
I cant wait to see his face.
Watch the Live Aid set.
Queen had a singer, two fantastic singers - and Freddie Mercury
And each of them composed a No.1 Hit for the band.
MASTER AT WORK!!!!!
R.I.P FREDDIE WE HEAR YOU SINGING FROM HEAVEN
What is it about you honey? You are infectious- joyful-
I hope you join all of the Queen fans- I am 69 years old and love seeing your appreciation of Freddie and Queen- now- around 200 more songs to go-😉😉👏👏. Your reaction was fabulous!!
Please listen to Freddie singing the opera songs he wrote- or better yet- ‘Exercises in Free Love’ YOU WILL FLIP OUT!! Love you-
I only discovered Free Love a few weeks ago. IT WAS STUNNING. I couldn’t believe it was him (until he dropped briefly to a lower note)
I’ve talked to few Queen fans who hadn’t heard it. (Or the Barcelona album, either.) So Thankful 😁
You should definitely check out some of their live performances, like live at wembley 1986 and live at Montreal 1981. Ah and somebody to love live at the bowl 1982 is a fucking banger 🔥
Queen’s on Fire at the Bowl 🔥🔥

I love watching someone fall in love with a legendary artist. It’s like seeing someone look at the Grand Canyon for the first time.
Freddie was out of this world....his vocal range is vast, he can sing high and low and everything inbetween to perfection and his voice can suit any genre of music because he is so versatile. He wrote the best song in history...well that's what everyone voted plus he wrote many other classics. He is an incredible composer and his music is art with so many transitions and unique styles, he could pack out stadiums... he was the brain behind all the videos and how they are so artistic...he can play lots of musical instruments very well....his stage presence is second to nobody....he was a quite humble man but at the drop of the hat he could be the most charismatic colourful character ever. Every part of being a great musician Freddie has those skills and talent but his is on another level but let's not forget the rest of the band each of whom contributed by them all writing songs and all being very artistic and skilled musicians in their own right....and put all 4 of them together and you get musical nirvana in Queen.
Freddie's pronounce was he. The studio version is great, but you have to check out the live version from Montreal. If you think this is good...just wait.
YESSSS live version at Montreal 1981.
Freddie had a 4 octave range hence he could quickly go high and low with ease which you will hear when you listen to the live stuff
Freddie is a vocalist we will literally never get again !! He was one on a million
As a 33yo that was born into listening to Queen everyday thanks to my old man, it warms my heart seeing young people discover the magic of queen!
Welcome to Queen and Freddie Mercury one of the most prolific singers of the 20th century who unfortunately died of Aids in 1991 All 4 members of the band wrote hit songs their catalogue covers 14 albums. Bohemian Rhapsody was written by Freddie in 1975. I hope you will react to Somebody to love by Queen of their performance in Montreal 1981 live, this is an Iconic performance that everyone gravitates to
Mercury's voice covers a range of 6 Octaves, the falsetto you hear is Roger Taylor the Guy with Blonde hair who is the drummer
I can virtually guarantee you that you will have heard Queen songs that you didn't realise were done by Queen because they appear in Adverts, films, Arenas everywhere all over the world
After Freddie's death John Deacon the Bass player left the group and is no longer in the public eye however Roger Taylor and Brian May both in their 70's are still rocking. Together with Marc Martell they toured for a few years and in the last 5 years with Adam Lambert both singing Queen songs. They were also executive producers of the film Bohemian Rhapsody that came out in 2018 which won a Oscar for best film and best lead role
Freddie: 4 octave vocal range
Marc Martel did not tour with Queen. He was chosen for a tribute band. The remaining members of Queen have worked with a couple other singers but settled on Adam Lambert. Their concerts are wonderful and they spend a lot of time remembering Freddie, and Freddie actually sings part of Love of my Life in a holograph simulation. No one can replace Freddie though and that is why Marc Martel was not chosen to tour with them. He is ok but just a weak version of the real thing.
@@1944bwa
Marc Martel IS the real thing! LOL He is not trying to be Freddie. He is Marc Martel and performs as Marc Martel singing tribute to Freddie Mercury.
@@janiceduke1205 somewhere in between 4 and 5 octave's.
@@1944bwa Marc martel hasn't got anywhere near as nice of a sounding voice than freddie, and that imho weakens his performances massively. I actually think he should step away completely from all the queen stuff, and become his own person, because realistically he can never be as good as Freddie Mercury, so why continue to try, especially when you could make a name for yourself singing your own music, and in your own style. Marc Martel could be a great music artist (especially in a time were very good vocalists are hard to come by), but at the moment he's just making a living off trying to copy his idol. I feel kind of harsh saying that about Marc, but it's exactly how I see it.
Awesome to watch someone discover Freddie for the first time! He was very special!
Great reaction, your smiles along the reaction, makes it all good for me youngman. Thankyou and Looking forward to more Queen. Much bless to You!
I love watching someone discovering queen for their first time!
Ah man. Your face! From what I've heard about Freddie, he would be so pleased that you listening to their music put such a huge smile on your face. So glad you enjoyed it. Made me smile too 😁👏👏
One of the greatest bands!! Freddie (he) was a musical genius!!
Ohhhh my dear...you will be utterly amazed at the diversity of the band Queen! Freddie Mercury is hands down one of the best entertainers, artists to bless us with his astounding talent.
Yes the band was amazingly talented. Each one of them.
Marc Martel is one of only a small handful of people in the world who can sing like Freddie (sound a lot like him, though not perfectly!) He’s impressive and worth checking out, but of course Freddie is my favorite. A true original with no vocal training at all and his own sound. Freddie is considered by many as the best male rock vocalist of all time and certainly as the best group frontman, though all four of them together were what made Queen great. They were extraordinary talented. Sadly, we lost Freddie too early in 1991 from AIDS. He was only 45. He sang and recorded songs almost right up until the end.
I’m not sure if you’ve seen the movie about his life, also called Bohemian Rhapsody. Marc was used in some senses when Freddie sang, since literally no one else could do it. However, the movie itself is extremely inaccurate regarding details of his life, so be careful.
I’m sure you know other songs of theirs, too. Fat Bottomed Girls, Another One Bites the Dust,
We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions (which every living soul has heard!), Don’t Stop Me Now, I Want to Break Free, You’re My Best Friend, even the Flash Gordon theme song from the movie (“Flash! Ahhh ahh!”)
You definitely have to listen to this live in Montreal 1981 (Milton Keynes 1982 is also stunning), along with a bunch of others that I’m sure you’ll get requests for! You should also watch their 20-minute set at Live Aid, frequently regarded as the best concert of all time. They were one of many performances in a much longer show - no set pieces, effects, special lighting, auto tune, or choreography - and they stole the show from everyone; including fellow legendary performers. All while Freddie has a throat infection and was advised by his doctor not to perform 😂
Excellent comment! I second that, Lauren! ❤️
They also did some of the music for Iron Eagle, which was a staple of my childhood. One Vision is very impressive.
Brendon Urie too
They are all extremely talented. Freddie Mercury is lead singer and piano. Roger Taylor is the drummer and back ground vocals. Brian May is guitarist and background vocals. John Deacan is Bassist. They all wrote multiple hit songs for Queen.
someone sure mentioned it before, but you know Brian built this guitar with his dad at home?!? (and no, neither him nor his dad are Guitar builders) The "red special" itself is a legend
Freddie would have adored the way you looked while listening to him! He DOES sing so good.
Wait till you do the live version at Montreal...you are going to love it
No auto tune, no tracks, no nothing except GOD given talent.
Love your reactions! In addition to White Queen, you might also like Take My Breath Away
Welcome to the world of Queen. You're in for a great ride. Freddie was gay and identified as he. For us fans, we LOVED them all. They were all so immensely talented and were perfect with each other. Their individual personalities complimented each other. Keep going down the Queen rabbit hole...you won't be disappointed!

Nice reaction. More QUEEN please
Watch them do this song live in Montreal in 1981,it will blow your socks off
I love the genuine reaction. The admiration for the voice, composition and instrumentals is so refreshing.
I think that the most amazing thing about Freddie Mercury was that he actually outdid himself and Bohemian Rhapsody when he wrote Somebody To Love.
This song still blows my mind.
Good reaction. Marc Martel is very good; he was selected for the Queen extravaganza tour although not with Queen members, they did select the members to do it. Marc also recorded bits and pieces used in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.
Oh hey! A new Queen fan! I’m here for this journey....:)
Favorite quote from Freddie Mercury. A reporter asked him what instrument he plays and he answered, "I play the audience." So true!
I love your pure reaction of admiration and awe of one of the very best singers and bands of all time!
Welcome to Queen, the best band ever. Freddie Mercury, Dr. Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon 💛
Professor Brian May even.
Mercury had four additional teeth in the upper jaw that pushed his incisors forward, an overshot and that gave him more volume in his voice
And he would not have the teeth "fixed" as he was concerned that it would change the way he sang.
Art rockers from the early 70`s who became the GOAT. Set studio and live production standards never equaled imo.
You legit need to watch Queen Live Aid buddy, that shit will blow your mind.
Queen and Freddie are the best! I really enjoy your reactions to them and am so happy you are enjoying what we’ve enjoyed for the past 50 years! More Queen please!
you should watch his live aid performance man, shit's amazing
Oh my god what I would GIVE to get that first chill of hearing anything Freddie Mercury sings for the first time again. I envy you 😂
Know you see or ear if you want the music of those years,,at maximum volume and FEELING WAS SO STRONG it was beautiful and not only QUEEN ALOT of very talented groups ,,and I became emotional thinking of those years whit my friends,,,😢beautiful ❤
And still the only ever group to have number one hits written by all band members..
You need to watch live aid...That’s amazing Queen and Freddie!
Freddie Mercury had a unique voice that allowed himself and the other members of Queen to sing in every genre. All of the group contributed to their impressive catalogue of music. This is also why Queen, despite the loss of Freddie, is still as strong as when the songs were first written and performed. Queen now has a new front man in Adam Lambert who also shares Freddie's unbelievable talent and has been touring with Queen for the last seven years. If you get a chance, take a listen to him.
QUEEN is the name of the band!! HE the greatest vocalist & frontman in the world FREDDIE MERCURY! Brilliant musicians in the studio and masters of the live performance! In 2020, Queen voted best live rock band of all time! It is required by law that after watching the studio version you must watch & witness the live version! Every version of Somebody To Love is unique!! Most fans request Montreal 1981 which is perfection ... I do like the Milton Keynes 1982 version, too due to the energy oozing from Freddie!! Not forgetting Roger and Brian's vocals that build the choral effect as well.
You are quite right about his voice. A professional opera singer was also blown away. (The Charismatic Voice). She said he was naturally using techniques that opera singers use! Well done, young man.

Freddie Mercury was phenomenal!
R.I.P Freddie we love you and miss you ❤❤❤😢😢
No one, and no band like Freddie and Queen. You're right, do the studio and then the live. they are both so good and sometimes so different. Both fantastic.
I agree - I like thst he is doing the studio versions first. These are pure art, constructed to perfection. The live versions show Freddie’s incredible energy and one-of-a-kind showmanship, but his stunning and unique vocal talent can most fully be appreciated in the studio versions IMO. These are masterpieces.
