I just started on this show last week too. Like 'Stranger Things', I look forward to the title screen to listen to the theme :) This one fits Saul's somewhat cheesy and tacky persona. hahaa
You know what, when you put it like that, it's not even that complicated. Just a matter of practice. Until I saw this video I was honestly thinking it would be impossible to learn that lick. Doesn't seem so hard now!
Their drummer died last year. He is now the late son of Yes' Steve Howe. I need to get a Gretsch, or sneak a Vibramate onto Mom's ES 330. She might me 81 but she would still probably shoot me with her Colt 38 Special, for putting a Bigsby on her 1960 red guitar. Johnny Smith gave her that and a Dove prototype as a wedding gift. Yes, the Walk Don't Run, Johnny Smith.
I agree with the other comments. This sounds like the most accurate tutorial. It's a very simple piece, but many varied ways of playing it. This sounds and feels right! Nice one! I had no idea it was a Brit band!
Thanks for the awesome tutorial. I loved the BCS series and the intro, reminds me of a good time. You explained everything precise, comprehensible and comfortable slow - thanks buddy.
took me a little time to work on baring that low E and B.... but with a little practice (like 2 days, lol)... i got it down PERFECTLY!!! add in a little echo effect with my pedal... and goddamm, i'm gonna be strummin along when the show finally comes back next sunday!! thanks!!!
Thank you Rupert. Yes, someday I'd like to do a guitar clinic in the UK. Hopefully soon when the traveling restrictions are less I can get myself back to Europe. Keep on Rockin' DAMIAN
Awesome - thank you, love this intro - really well explained (btw your Gretsch is very cool). Can you share what effects you’re using on your amp please to get that authentic sound?
Excellent Job Damian, could you please tell me what's amp do you used with your Gretsch, I find the sound fabulous! Thank's a lot for your answer! Friendly from France! Luc
note for the wise dont use heavy strings, i was using heavy strings because i was playing metal, and its hard to bend them, or rather you can but you dont really hear it
Is it possible to play this with a Stratocaster, or do I need the one he has. I’m a noob, and I’m doing, or trying to do what he’s doing, somewhat half accurately, and it doesn’t sound half right. Do I need a specific kind of guitar to play this song. I know I SHOULD have a whammy bar, I don’t, but I’m just lost.
I'm new to guitar and I have most of the song down, but is there an alternate way to do the first chord? I struggle to hold both the 1st and 2nd strings down with one finger and have them sound good. Is there a way I can use all 4 fingers instead? Or some other compromise? Thanks.
Maybe put pressure at the back of the neck and push and pull, it's the closest thing you can get to a whammy effect without the bar. You just need to be sure to be using your picking arm as a resistance so you can actually have a set point to bend from.
Why do you play a major barre chord with your index finger across 3 strings? It’s inefficient. Either barre the 5th with index or play the first 2 strings with index and middle on the third. Smh
Nope I have a collectors choice Mick Ralph's Les Paul with alnico 3 custom bucker S in the bridge and it definitely comes close but yeah the hollow body, obviously bigsby is the way to go
The last note needs to be cut off abruptly by a cut screen.
Yessss! Hilarious
that cut annoys me so much. I NEED RESOLUTION!
@@richgilroy Annoying but also an interesting take
Hooray! I've been obsessed with finding a tutorial for this since I started bingeing the show the other night. This is rad. Thank you!
20 minutes later and I've got it. Thank you thank you thank you!
Glad the lesson helped.
Cheers and keep on rockin'
DAMIAN :)

Glad it was helpful. Thank you for watching. :)
There are a lot of tutorials for this song intro, and I think I’ve watched them all. This is, hands down, the best one.
Thank you very much. That means a lot. :)
@@Damianblf no, thank you!
No the barris one is. this dude plays it wrong
This sounds ridiculously awesome on my freshly refinished Jag.
refinished with what ? :) Got a CIJ Jag, 1996. Original PUs still.
that was great. Now I need a tutorial onhow to get that tone.
just need good reverb, hollow or semihollow body, and p90's or something similar with fat single coils.
@@schwarg yup! Classic reverb + hollow body sound there. Fuckin LOVE IT
Your moustache fell off

Chap, I don’t know if you get comments from a 3yr old vid but I gotta say I do enjoy your style. Any plans to tour in the UK🤔

Subscribed. That was great. Gets right to the point.
great work here, dude.
Woowow! tx for the tune. Btw this 6120 SSU or L is natural worn beauty now ! Congrat for the nice true vintage patina you gave her.
Btw you have a realllyy good classic slapback rockab' tone, I will be happy to know a little more of the rig and equipement you use, sir.
Fantastic sounding Gretsch!
Thank you :)
complete begginer and learned in one night thanks man!!
Glad you found the lesson helpful. Thank you for watching. :)

AWESOME‼️
Thank you Mike :)
Awesome - thank you, love this intro - really well explained (btw your Gretsch is very cool). Can you share what effects you’re using on your amp please to get that authentic sound?
I feel like the Gretch is made for this song. Are you using any peddles to get that tone?
The only pedal I used was a delay pedal for a little bit of slapback. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Damian! You are great!!
Thanks man.
Thanks for watching. :)
Better call Saul made me a little Barrie fan😀
Excellent Job Damian, could you please tell me what's amp do you used with your Gretsch, I find the sound fabulous! Thank's a lot for your answer! Friendly from France! Luc

Cool tutorial! I wonder what is the effects setting for this song..🤔 Please tell us about the brand and model of the amp and the pedals 😉
cheers, great lesson, i was wonderign how to play thhe cllsaul intro
Killer vid man
Cool ! Thanks damian.
this is great. Thanks.
Hey Damien,
love this lick. just wondering what gear you're using to get that nice wet sound besides the Setzer... thanks
Thank you. I was using a Boss DD-3 delay and my Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212.

Nice lesson, Damian. What's the song at the very end of the vid? It sounds familiar.
brilliant! thanks for this :)
Thank you so very much. I will follow you.
The depressing of the bigsby. Sounds like a good book
The third chord in the main riff is a D major not A minor, you should be using the same chord shape as the A major at the start
Great video and explanation, but it would help if i could see your strumming hand.
Thank you!
It's all good man!!
What's your amp settings for this i cnat find them anywhere

Lower the action as low as possible without buzzing
I tried to figure out what guitar they used in the intro. And i guessed it was a Gretsch. I'm such an expert 😊
N1 man!
It’s take me a while to get used to it but I think I’ll get it down
hey !!! thanksssss
what the guitar do you play? Is it not Acoustic?
What's the fast lick at the beginning after the wicked game progression?
very cool =)
nice

How could I achieve this without a whammy bar?

I want to say I remember you saying you played 13's, is that still the case?
nerrad127 Yes, I still use 13's but currently only on my White Falcon. On this particular lesson I am using 10's..
I love the internet.
KEWL !

No good on my les paul need a strat
Sickflix Just kick up the reverb and tremolo. Playing it on my Gibson SG and it sounds really good.

What it really needs... is a jaguar. Boom.
how gay
