Jonathan Banks is just a terrific person. Just generally.
Maybe it's morbid to think about this guy being in the twilight of his life, but he's had such a long and varied career, and here he is just getting the best stuff he's ever gotten to do. And he is so humble in interviews I've seen, and he never shies away from expressing his love for those he works with. He's talked before in Breaking Bad interviews about feeling blessed to get this role, and I remember watching him cry during an interview with him and Bryan on location when they were getting ready to shoot his death scene. I can't imagine how elated he was to find out he was going to get to play this guy again, and with the opportunity to expand his character by leaps and bounds, and explore all the complexities of this man's earlier life. I just have nothing but praise for him.

Jonathan Banks’s interviews are so endearing and personal it’s impossible not to like the guy. HOWEVER, and I think I may stand in a small minority here, but his acting in my opinion is so consistently dry and lacking of any effort, it blows my mind that he was nominated for an Emmy over Michael McKean.
I get that his character is a juxtaposition between the “boring but fair old guy” and a “relentlessly unforgiving badass”
But still.

Not as dark as Breaking Bad? Well maybe marginally. Jonathan Banks certainly brings the darkness and Bob's situation brings an amount of misery. It is only when he does his "Slippin Jimmy" persona that we see him shine. The conflict is the eventual corruption and how it leads him to make huge amounts of money before his fall in Breaking Bad.

I'm glad that by now, the fourth season, we've also seen the beginnings of Gus and Lydia Rodarte-Quayle and the rest of the Pollos Hermanos/Madrigal crew, and Hector Salamanca, etc.
The origin stories of so many pivotal Breaking Bad characters unfolding over time, and rumors we could see appearances from certain members of the Schrader and White families, and potentially even Jesse.
The writers are phenomenal and Bob Odenkirk, McKeon and Banks are the bomb! I love love love this show!

Mike is such a great character, they should bring him back for a Breaking Bad sequel.
They should go back to the scene by the river where Mike tricked Walter into leaving him to die in peace. After Walter leaves the scene mike scurries back to his car and apply compression bandages. Mike recovers after a year and by this time he returns and he was the one who kills walt and everybody in the end. He takes all the money and drives off into the sunset

Spoiler Alert: Inside scoop on the show. The reason the show exists is actually in due in part to one of the Account Executives at AMC networks. When Breaking Bad ended it was pretty much the end of everything. During an in-house sales meeting however, one of the Sales People mentioned how much the ad community loved the show and questioned if there was the chance of a possible spin off. Vince Gilligan asked what exactly do you have in mind and the Sales Guy responded how about making it about the Attorney. There is alot of character development that can still be done there and he even named the show. I'm not trying to take anything away from Vince but honestly, give credit where credit is due. Thanks for having great ideas Jimmy!!!!!!
+Rob M This is simply not true. Vince and Peter fooled around with the idea of a Saul spinoff since the introduction of his character. Just Google around a bit. AMC wanted more Breaking Bad, but Vince decided it was time to end the series. Better Call Saul existed long before the end of Breaking Bad. Vince and Peter wouldn't have done this for AMC - they had already had confidence in the idea.
