Pancake Locks are very cool -- there are folks who seriously collect these, and some of the rarer ones command quite high prices. There is even a collector who sells a professional picking tool for these. Thanks for your video with a great patent overlay -- I glad to see you have gotten one of these & now admire them. Plus THANKS for Playlist -- interesting to see various techniques.

Really love these locks. I have at least 12 now I think and have made keys for many of them. I made an impressioner with thumb screws so I could very the tension but also when I got the right bitting I could tighten them and make a key.
Amazing lock and Papa Gleb is a legend. Saw one of his challenge locks keep LPL stuck for weeks. To the point that he didn’t even capture the whole pick on camera. Very cool to see this lock. Impressioning is such a cool technique but I’ve never seen it done like this before. Thanks for sharing.
I have a lock with the same mechanism and got it open with a contour gage from home depot.... took a several try to get the technique right but it worked ..... love the videos! Keep em coming ...
Parapick and locknoob.... thanks guys......the contour gage is a little awkward because of the size... if the brad nails could be done more compact it would be a lot easier to use...maybe a couple inches of metal..... another project, for another day ....... .
Okay, I don’t even have one of those locks. But I want to make a quality impressioning tool in case I do get one. LOL!! Added to my list of tools to make.
Great lock!!! Wonderful diagrams!! The links are cool as well!! I have done the impressioning in the same way and it works well. Thank you for sharing this! Stay safe my friend 🐾🐈👍🐈🐾😷
Great stuff, as always. Not only are your videos very entertaining to watch, but I always end up learning something. I love all the locksport UA-cam channels, but there are some that stand way above the rest. Yours is one of them. Thank you for the amazing content!
Nice of them to print how many levers right on the face, so you don't have to feel around counting. Luckily I already have a Brad nailer and the nails to go with it. I also have a welder and clamps, so to make a key I think I would just clamp the nails/feelers together, then weld a washer on the other end to hold them in place and be a handle.
@@LockNoob I don't have a lock to try it on. I just thought that welding the pins together would be a better way to make a permanent key. You just have to keep them in the proper configuration until you get them welded.
That's a very nice explainer and use for the nails. I initially didn't expect such a massive contraption would impression well, but it seems to work just fine! If I understand it correctly, the impressioning works because that red hook thing is pushed slightly into the levers by the spring under its nose and the tension becomes stronger than the underset levers when the bottom of the gate touches the red hook. Also, you can't easily single lever pick it as the lever springs are much stronger than the red hook spring, so they just drop down after 'setting'. Am i right about these things or still missing something? Always nice to see different mechanisms. Thanks for sharing Ash 🙏👍
Yeah we all know the real reason why you got this lock; ...it's all brass (shame the key isn't!) Really interesting video tho. Could you explain a bit more clearly why this lock self-impressions? How come that method doesn't bind the mechanism?
I'm not entirely sure why this works - i can only guess that the bolt is always pressing against the levers so once the lever is in a gate, it 'stops' allowing the pins to impression?
i don't understand, you already made a key with the wood sandwich and nails, its nicely sized and hard to misplace, why make a smaller key that will get lost?

I’ll have to try that. Someone else commented it worked for them

Sounds like a very cool tool. Do you have a link?
I think back in the 80s I had a bike lock that operated that way. Finally, only 30 years later, I know how that one worked. Thanks!
Thanks 🙏 is it like this one? ua-cam.com/video/IYSUFYL9r8M/v-deo.html

Just got one without a key. Can't wait to try impressioning it!
I totally enjoyed that vid,I truly did, never seen a lock like that
Before and a great explanation on how to improvise to get a open,
Thanks,billbo.
Thanks 🙏
Had pretty much given up on my Acme lever lock until I saw this video. The "feeler" tool is genius and the pick is great too! Thanks!🔓

Beauty lock. And a fine video of how to go about opening it. Outstanding, as usual.
Thanks 😊

Fantastic lock ash my friend great demonstration👍🇬🇧😊🤟😎👊
Thanks Leon!
Great looking lock.
I guess the impressioning technique works very similar to the tubular lock impressioning tool.
Yeah!
All brass... Yeah, we know...
Beauty!
Lol
Okay you're gettiing all fancy with colouring in patent images now...;)
Great description of the method.
Lol 😆
Super cool man! I’ve really never seen a lever lock like that before!
Thanks 🙏
Great graphical explanation Mr Noob, very professional video for a noob! It seems like something even i could do. Good tip on the key blank too.🍺✌😎
Just picked up one today without the key. Never knew this existed.
I have one of those in my collection !
Definitely a great padlock to own.
I did see lock butcher doing one of these a while ago! 👍
I think I might have linked to his vid in my play list :-)
Something new i see now in my life !

Awesome video! Thanks!
Spent all the money on the brass, easy pick
Lovely lock for the collection though
Yes for sure , I work in the non ferrous department of a scrap yard. I’m waiting for a beauty old lock to send to you
yay .... Nice Brad Nails who Knew :)
Ikr!
I think (probably wrong) that the locking lever stump thing is called a pawl
You could well be right!
@@LockNoob Should also say I have recently discovered your channel and really enjoying your stuff! keep it up!
😍 I want one 😎
I don't blame you!
Wow, that lock is in beautiful condition. Is it original, or has it been "professionally" restored, do you think?
I think it’s original - very good condition indeed!
@@LockNoob Wonderful find for the collection!
So tension it by pushing down on the shackle.
I don’t think it pushes down
worth a shot. It looked like it might.
Never see picking videos on old style British mortice lever locks are they hard?
