    No lock is going to keep out a skilled person with the right tools. Nor will it stop a determined person that does not mind getting destructive and loud. Really the main point is deterrent and not making it too easy for a casual attack to succeed. its amazing how many fail that low bar to match.

    I love to see LPL blow through a lock in like a minute and then compliment it. It's honestly wholesome, but it doesn't give me a lot of confidence for the state of most commercially available locks.

    "No major blunders" and "better than most" are words of praise. It would be nice if the common blunders (combing, not protecting the back of the keyway, shim attacks, urethane hammer, raking, etc) would be eliminated by more manufacturers.

    I think this is another case where the biggest security flaw is the branding on the front. If this had a more discrete appearance it would make it even better

  • @mythical_pizza

    This hidden shackle design gives me an idea. It would be harder to pick if you lock body made you occupy your other hand. For example, if the housing was springloaded and turned to cover the keyhole. You would need to use one hand to turn the body ti reveal the keyway and hold it open, making it significantly harder to pick, which most lockpicking I see done with two hands (since this one cant be combed).
    Not flawless by any means, just an idea to make it harder, I wonder if Shane from StuffMadeHere could make it on his next one lol

    • @raphaelsolo
      @raphaelsolo Рік тому

      Not only spring loaded but make it part of the locking mechanism. Require it being turned to full torque to move a locking pin out of the way so that merely moving the body just enough to get picks or a lishi in won't cut it.

    • @TheNightstalkerShow
      @TheNightstalkerShow Рік тому +2

      The problem with designs like that are longevity. The owner of the lock will be locked out once the mechanism binds due to weather, denting, dirt and grime inside, etc...
      Fine for a novelty lock or a challenge lock, but not mass production.

    I watched an ad for networking cameras, alarms and doorbells, etc. I'm a skeptic about most things, but I HAVE to believe that the products that work with "Alexa", could very well be less than absolutely secure and I can only imagine what vulnerabilities are present in these products.
