I always loved the solo on the record, I didn't like much the part he ads here in the middle of the solo, it takes you away from the beauty of the melodic original solo...

Even now his solo music " traces" ECT is great. Sure voice is little raspy..and I love it. Crying is one of my favorites and so much more. Been listening for 45 years . Journey in the 80's now just Steve. Then journey died when Steve left. He was journey!!

This was the best lineup for Journey. The height of their fame. 1980-1986. Their concerts were amazing. Open stadiums, with 80,000 screaming fans!

“Who’s crying now” is essentially an incredible duet. Steve Perry had the musical insight to fight the record label to keep Neal Schon’s guitar solo in the song.

That ladies and gentlemen, is an example of a PERFECT live performance of a rock band. You can watch the video a trillion times and look for a flaw or a mistake, trust me, you wont find it.

I agree! One of my favorite s of Neil playing, I still get chills when I listen to the guitar playing in this song. I graduated 1982 and one of the best time for TRUE Live music. These songs are still played in my home 42 years later.

One guy mentioned how UA-cam is like a time machine, and that he can visit the past and get a sense of what life was like at that time. Very cool.

NewRetroWave, it's that feeling and emotion that Steve seems to be able to put into every song that he does. I think that I've heard the new guy once or twice, and yes he does sound very close to Steve, however he'll NEVER be able to duplicate that stage presence that Steve has. The way that he talks with the audience, his interaction with the band, and his emotion like he's still up and coming and singing the song to everyone for the very first time.

I know Steve's voice steals the show, but can we talk about Neal's absolutely perfect guitar tone and control? That was one of the greatest live solos I've ever heard! Not overly complex, but serves the song perfectly and is chock full of feeling.

Just a beautiful man full of authenticity and emotion, who was bold enough to walk away to work on himself in recovery. Nostalgia is a harsh mistress at times. For decades I mourned the loss of great music from bands who could command a stadium of faithful fans. I saw journey during those days and was sad to not have it anymore…but I’ve come to be far more happy to have experienced it at all. I was there…I heard the music as it came out. I just wish I realized that those moments were the peak of music; I would have lived in it more.

Part of the reason Steve Perry is one of the greatest singers of all time is that he can put all of his emotion in a song adding great emotional emphasis on every word making it seem like he means every lyric he utters.
