Jim Do keep kickin it old man
Amazing I'm 45 years old and I'm thankful for you to see this comment
I get it..we all have old loves.
My grandpa died at 102. Beat him! I hope you do.
lol noob im 134 years old
Back in 1984, I was supposed to sing this song at my wedding. That never happened. I lost her 2 weeks before the wedding. All these years, and I still can't hear this song without tearing up, nor can I forget one single word, beat or note of it. I'm 60 now, and I never did marry, I guess I just couldn't get past it. -- Update. I would like to thank everyone here for your well wishes and heartfelt sympathies. I did receive some news from my doctors, it seems as though I'm not long for this world, as my health has taken a drastic turn downward, but I do believe that my girl of long ago, Danielle, will be there waiting for me. Update: 1/25/24, This is George's brother Craig, and he wanted me to post an update. George passed on 1/19/24, with myself and his nieces and nephews with him. One thing he did insist on was to have this song playing on his last day. I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful responses here, they brightened his last days.
I'm sorry for your loss George, my first husband unfortunately was a dude but it was worth it. Otherwise I wouldn't have found my second husband. He was light all over the place!! He died in 2002 and I still miss him. Not that I'm looking for a John Jr, but most men don't have a strong moral compass and lots of things I'd want in a man. Yes, I'm picky but that's ok. We can afford to be. You will never ever forget her and love to the end. BUT, God may have something to give you. Please don't push others away. It took me 3 years to find John. It was NO coincidence, I kept running into him every where. We had 10 good years before cancer took him. Sending you love and prayers and asking for God's divine intervention for you. ,🌹
I am so sorry !
This gives off such a melancholy feel the perfect song for a broken heart. So long my love
That's deep man.. wow.. I'm sorry.

This man's voice is something else.

100 Hundred years from now a 15 yr old will have said Have you heard a song by a band called Journey. Oh my God if they’re still saying that you got to hear this song called Faithfully. That’s all it will take…❤❤❤
A timeless masterpiece
Every time I play this, I feel my husband still beside me, singing in my ear. The pain of loss and the joy of memory fight it out in my mind. Thank you, Journey, for this gift to my life.
Wishing you all the best.

Listening to Steve Perry with Journey in 2024 is bittersweet. It reminds me of how great music was. But it also reminds me that music will never be this great again…
No it won't 😢
Right? My thoughts exactly

How is it possible to listen to the same songs for 4-5 decades and never get bored? BECAUSE..... THESE ARE MASTERPIECES!!
Also because this is real music, that crap my kids listen to from the 'Wrappers' isn't.

Absolutely 💯 agree. He is the best singer. Watched the new Documentary on Netf--- about the song We Are The World and hearing Steve Perry sing he's the best one on there. Bruce Springsteen said Man that Steve can sing.
My beautiful husband was a drummer and he use to sing this to me all the time.

I will always connect this song to my brother, Peter. He drove me 6 hours to my dorm as a freshman in college cuz he was like my dad. This song was playing on the car radio when we said goodbye and he started crying cuz he knew he wouldn't see me as much anymore. He shined as a brother, always supported and defended me. Now he's gone.......died in a car accident. It's been about 30 years of his death but it feels like yesturday.......the pain of never seeing the person again is what makes death so unforgiving. So please, please, please if you are reading this cherish the sweet people in your life that you love. Don't let a day pass without hugging them or a text, email a phone call saying I ❤ U.
30 years later the pain carries on. Sorry for your loss. Your brother is your guardian angel. This song is so timeless and relatable 🙏❤️
Thank you for sharing such deep feelings. I am very sorry for your brother, but I am sure he looks after you from heaven, and thank you for your positive message regardless of the sorrow still remains after 30 years.

Steve was in a class by himself! Iconic voice!
How is this not the world's best song period??? Like... i mean... WOW... JUST WOW 👌 ❤
JMO but it is 😁 The lyrics, the vocals.. Steve Perry’s voice…. Yep, it’s a masterpiece.
Greatest decade ever. No cell phones, people had to talk face to face, knew how to write, and most of all; it was real music with heart.
It's weird how u can listen to songs n get so many emotions running thru u. I'm 41 n this type of stuff is what I grew up on. So I get those memories going thru my head good bad happy sad but then I get an overwhelmingly sad feeling cuz it seems like we'll never get not only good music anymore but good times. Ppl can say what they want about the 80s but I felt like that decade was pretty fn cool. I was young but what I've gathered is we seemed more together. The connection between ppl was strong. Now look at us all u hear from tech companies is "more connected, stay connected" blah blah blah the more connected tech is the less connected we r. We've gotten dumber n more dependent but I guess those 2 go hand n hand. If the 80s were a person it'd b the life of the party tell it like it is loving punch u in the mouth obnoxiously likable bully beating nerd teaser.
Amen
Simpler times….

Totally agree with you
We were living in a Golden Age of musical creativity and didn’t even know it.
Yes we were and did
I couldn't agree more!!
Too true. We were spoiled for choice back then. It seems unbelievable now.
I knew it, All one had to do was listen, and be able to hear the music that came before it to know we were in an epic time.
Truth
Steve Perry is still one of my favourite vocalists of all time.
Yes, I'm still listening to Journey esp Faithfully. Loved it. I'm 70.
❤ I LOVE THIS SONG AND ALL THE OTHERS TOO. I AM 73 AND A WIDOW AFTER 46 YEARS MARRIED AND WITH HIM FOR 52 YEARS, WE HAD 2 CHILDREN, WITCH I LOST BOTH OF THEM ALSO, MY SON COMMITTED SUICIDE AT 36, 2015, THEN MY HUSBAND 70, 2017 AND THEN MY DAUGHTER AT 46, 2018 ON CHRISTMAS DAY 😢😢 !! What is the sticker supposed to mean they put on the bus?? It's something about a chip I the brain right
Steve’s voice has always been able to bring me back to center. At 68 I’m proud to be from that era, he will always be The Voice❤
At nearly half your age I feel the same 🙌
It's not Journey without Steve.
Best voice and Steven Perry cant be duplicated. At 79 I’ve heard a lot of music and Journey is at the top.

True that
One of a kind, his voice goes through you…. No other artist like him

Indeed
I'M 60 YEARS OLD AND I'M GLAD BECAUSE IT IS MUSIC LIKE JOURNEY, POP AND LATIN MUSIC BACK IN THE 80s music had a deeper sense. Feelings were taken into consideration when writing a song. I'm glad I'm from that era because I compare today's music to 80s songs and there is no comparison.
The Joy of rediscovering you!!
U what the sticker in the first part of the video is for right?? A girl in the 70s the government chiped to be with a serial killer so they could spy
Thank God I grew up in the 80's🙌🏼 One of the greatest songs ever recorded❤️
I feel so sorry for todays kids. Graduated in 82
We got to experience the greatest decade of the 20th Century and the greatest music of it also!!
Same here ❤😊
Likewise! We had the best music growing up. 👍
They don't make songs, movies or TV shows like the 70s & 80s!! Best 2 decades EVER
Concerts were different back then, no internet, no social media, etc……..it really was a big deal to see your favorite band live❤️
Perfectly said ... YES & irreplaceable
I still can’t believe that I had to be home before BEFORE midnight on 12/31/86 Long Beach Arena -CA never have been able to see that concert in full - at least I gave up my stub to someone outside to see it he offered $$ but no way - here go have fun❣️if thinking maybe I should have had him get me their program - didn’t have enough money to get it - oh well
Concerts nowadays are just for the industry to boost their ego! Back in the days without cell phones and internet we could actually enjoy watching and listening to these icons! And I'm so extremely happy I got to experience the 80's era.
Good ole days
Plus no huge production with lights, pyrotechnics, spinning stage. Just great guys with a mic, guitar, and drums. That's why it was so affordable back them. I saw the Eagles I'm 1978 for $8.50, including parking.
Absolutely also it only cost 10-15 bucks to go to a concert back then
This man has the most natural voice it's flawless
No better time for music. School dances, endless youthful summer nights...
É incomparável
Everyone loves Don't Stop Believin' but I honestly believe that this song is much, much better.
+antivercetti TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE
+antivercetti I liked "Don't Stop Believing", but I didn't LOVE it until I heard the (don't hate me now) Glee version. But i ALWAYS thought this was the greatest Journey song and the best power ballad ever. There's just something about the way Steve sings this one, and the line "two strangers learn to fall i love again" that just puts a lump in my throat.
Loren Montespino Same. I didn't really know Journey except for Don't Stop Believing until I saw Glee, and they made me fell in love with this and many more songs
+antivercetti Absolutely. The song is beautiful, and is frankly more iconic to me. (Also the game nerd in me loves that this was used in Elecman's theme in Mega Man. The two songs layered on top of each other is heaven.)
Journey has so many more good songs....
The Voice Indeed. The range, the tone, the emotion, the energy ... He is the greatest.
Journey was a great band. Steve Perry was a phenomenal front man. His voice was just magical. I have yet to find anyone else with quite the range he has. Even more, to sound in concert exactly like you do on your records is great and very rare.
Amen! Got that so right .🤗🌝🙏
One of the best slow songs of all time! School dances, roller skating! 80's REPRESENT!
Steve Perry. What a legend. Amazing voice. Godspeed

I agree,I hated to see him leave journey when he did I kinda did as well.
@@gregorynelson2584 - What did Journey do you him? In every recent interview I've watched he said he left because he wasn't inspired anymore, basically.
There's a comment on here about this being the best ballad of all time. You're not wrong my friend. Hands down the best song Journey ever did, the way the song escalates, the vocal range and the guitars are just simply outstanding. I used to sing this song as a lullaby to my children to get them to sleep, one of the best yet underrated songs of the 20th century for what my opinion is worth. I could never understand why Faithfully wasn’t as mega of a hit as Open Arms. It’s a power ballad of power ballads and stunningly beautifully written and played. And SP’s vocals on this are simply unbelievable!! Raw, gritty, every note saturated with masculine emotion and intensity. It demonstrates the sheer power of SP’s voice - his range, tone, passion, breath control, phrasing is like no other song on Journey’s records. His chest voice is killer in this - even in those crazy high notes! That uniquely special way Steve Perry delivers a song and makes you feel it in your bones along with him… it’s all here. The message of this song is so good too. Love love, Faithfully.
faithfully was 16 on 100 billboard chart open arms 18 lol please stop acting like you know music looking for attention both songs were mega hits your delusional go back to your crossword puzzles from the sunday paper
I dont know a huge amount of Journey's catalogue and stumbled on this track a long time ago by chance, amazing song and staggering vocal performance. Perry wasnt on my radar until i heard this....some people are born with a god given voice and some folks just learn to sing good, this guy has a phemomenal voice!
I think cause open arms came first ? … I consider faithfully the biggest ! Loved the video too
It's only when you really have a knowledge of how real music quality Is like and a expertise hearing that you can tell the difference.
All those who dares to state the other REPLACEMENTS can be as great as Perry " but only different" wouldn't have that Sense.
Only Castronovo was really good. But still didn't have Perry's soul and heart.
Agreed
One of the greatest songs ever recorded what a great voice.
Sure does take me back in time & a flow of some pretty fun amazing times🤟🏼 🎶 ❤️
Yep
Steve's voice was never matched by anyone. That vibrato tho...
I prefer Cryin
Agree but let’s not forget Who’s Crying Now……simply timeless
Takes me back to 1985. I sailed with one of the best crews ever. I miss them.
Steve's voice is very distinct. Some can attempt to mimic, but will fail.
Steve Perry: always one of the best male voices, well to me, at least.
i
And For me
he was the voice of the 80's, LOVE his vocals
Steve was and always was the best voice in rock, and steve is journey
Ron Chapman Dear Ron, have you heard the Asian brother? If you haven't you're in for a treat!
In my opinion Steve Perry had one of the best voices I ever heard 😍
Absolutely agree . Unbelievable vocals 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Oh yeah, no doubt!
Mustache 2 can't forget it
@@andrewscott4030 😂😂 he _did_ have a good one!
Seriously, he's the GOAT
A fantastic song about life on the road. It's tough, but standing beside your music man and encouraging him is important . ❤
Music of today lacks so much. I'm 62 and my 8 year old granddaughter loves Steve Perry and Journey. That makes me extremely happy. His voice and legacy are being carried on.
no fancy videos, no nudity, just great songs & voices...love the 80s...
Yet still the best music ever invented the fact it still plays today and listening to it never gets old love the 80s
Exactly!😊
Was definitely the greatest decade to grow up in. Wish I could go back and relive it all over again. Just appreciate it more!
Right
No nudity, but the band members sure liked to wear those tight pants with a bit of bulge reveal.
My uncle was just diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He's AMAZING at drums. Big rocker. He's only 54 and was on the road to recovery after a tough decade after losing his Dad to addiction. His Mom died two months ago and now his diagnosis. He's a rocker and loves all things rock and roll. This song brings me to tears as I get to know him more. Please pray for him. Uncle Mike love y'all
Peace be with you brother. We come and go but hold the Hand of the Father and go home. Shalom!
@@mikejohn0088 God bless you brother, Thank You.
God bless you brother
Sorry for what you are going through. May God give him and your family strength to cope in this hard times. My prayers go out to him ❤
@@Marciao43 Thank you. God bless
This song is awesome. The voice, the keyboards, the drums, and yes the guitar. It all blends together to tell a story - Faithfulness
I am finally getting my wedding reception tomorrow ❤❤❤❤❤
DAMN people were so passionate with their music back then, you can’t find many bands like that anymore.
You're lucky if you can find a band at all. Music right now is about producers. That's the problem.
This. Is so true :/
Two-tone Blue At least Journey and Guns n Roses still exist.
@@katylepetsos7512 Yep. There are a few still out there. But those recordings could just as easily be made *today*. But would a record company be interested in a new band with that sound? Would they even know what they were listening to? They're run by risk-averse bean-counters.
Omg yes btw I love your profile pic! ALASTOR ROCKS
"....I'm forever yours, faithfully." Always sends the massive chills down the spine. Thank you for being part of my childhood and culture, Journey.
Everything about this song and video is the GOAT. Thank you Journey!
What I wouldn’t give to see these guys all together again in concert. 😌
Agree just one more time it would break all the records for ticket price
I was 17 held her in my arms and we listened to this. Now i am 50 and still holding her and this is playing, 3 kids, 27 years married, and this is the soundtrack of my life.
EDIT: Sorry i just copy and pasted someone else's comment on to this video. I was born in 1994.
Right there with you Ben. Although my wife passed away a little over a year ago we always loved this song.
Absolutely beautiful 💜
Ben Bell congrats!

“I Get the joy of rediscovering you” hands down one of the best lines EVER in any song! Watching that man sing with his heart never ever gets old ❤️❤️
I love that line!!!
10000% one of the best lines
I want to cry when I hear that line. I'm a 54 yo guy.

I'm 55 yrs old, grew up listening to Journey. Didn't know Steve Perry wasn't the main guy in the band. Steve is Journey PERIOD I wouldn't even consider watching a show without him !!!!!!!!!!
It's 2023 and I still can't think of a rock singer with a more perfect voice than Steve Perry....can you? My great-great-great grandkids will listen to Journey in 2099!!!

He evokes emotions and has the most iconic voice!

People who didn't grow up with this need to listen to 80's music, one of the most beautiful decades for music. If this song brings them to tears, I hope it is of happiness. :)
Edit: Thnx for liking this, guys. I think that this is a beautiful song, and everyone needs it to have a little not in their soul.

You are so right!
Thank you, guys. As a 13 year old male, I also listened to this with my dad and I just loved 80's music, and this song was no exception.
