Every time I play this, I feel my husband still beside me, singing in my ear. The pain of loss and the joy of memory fight it out in my mind. Thank you, Journey, for this gift to my life.
Back in 1984, I was supposed to sing this song at my wedding. That never happened. I lost her 2 weeks before the wedding. All these years, and I still can't hear this song without tearing up, nor can I forget one single word, beat or note of it. I'm 60 now, and I never did marry, I guess I just couldn't get past it. -- Update. I would like to thank everyone here for your well wishes and heartfelt sympathies. I did receive some news from my doctors, it seems as though I'm not long for this world, as my health has taken a drastic turn downward, but I do believe that my girl of long ago, Danielle, will be there waiting for me. Update: 1/25/24, This is George's brother Craig, and he wanted me to post an update. George passed on 1/19/24, with myself and his nieces and nephews with him. One thing he did insist on was to have this song playing on his last day. I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful responses here, they brightened his last days.
I'm sorry for your loss George, my first husband unfortunately was a dude but it was worth it. Otherwise I wouldn't have found my second husband. He was light all over the place!! He died in 2002 and I still miss him. Not that I'm looking for a John Jr, but most men don't have a strong moral compass and lots of things I'd want in a man. Yes, I'm picky but that's ok. Absolutely 💯 agree. He is the best singer. Watched the new Documentary on Netf--- about the song We Are The World and hearing Steve Perry sing he's the best one on there. Bruce Springsteen said Man that Steve can sing.
Steve Perry might be one of the greatest vocalist of all time !! what a voice, what a charisma he has on stage, absolutely stunning !! I love you Steve, i love you Journey, thanks for the beautiful songs throughout the years, and yes Steve, we will not stop believing !

They do still make music like this. You just need to explore a bit. The Killers, The War on Drugs, and Greta Van Fleet. It's all about keeping an open mind and discovering new talent
My uncle was just diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He's AMAZING at drums. Big rocker. He's only 54 and was on the road to recovery after a tough decade after losing his Dad to addiction. His Mom died two months ago and now his diagnosis. He's a rocker and loves all things rock and roll. This song brings me to tears as I get to know him more. Please pray for him. Uncle Mike love y'all
There's a comment on here about this being the best ballad of all time. You're not wrong my friend. Hands down the best song Journey ever did, the way the song escalates, the vocal range and the guitars are just simply outstanding. I used to sing this song as a lullaby to my children to get them to sleep, one of the best yet underrated songs of the 20th century for what my opinion is worth. 'lost without you, wondering where I am' ever present around my wife who passed away last year. God bless.
Been listening to this since I discovered Journey in University in the mid 90's I still love it. What year what it released? I love Journey and REO Speed Wagon Bryan Adams Phil Collins Beach Boys DION (The wanderer)? theni got obsessed with rap music. Now back to the oldies...
I feel that this reply was from my lovely neighbor who lost his wife to cancer Journey was their favorite she would listen for hrs. I hope this was our Phillip listening all our love and prayers to him.
I could never understand why Faithfully wasn’t as mega of a hit as Open Arms. It’s a power ballad of power ballads and stunningly beautifully written and played. And SP’s vocals on this are simply unbelievable!! Raw, gritty, every note saturated with masculine emotion and intensity. It demonstrates the sheer power of SP’s voice - his range, tone, passion, breath control, phrasing is like no other song on Journey’s records. His chest voice is killer in this - even in those crazy high notes! That uniquely special way Steve Perry delivers a song and makes you feel it in your bones along with him… it’s all here. The message of this song is so good too. Love love, Faithfully.
faithfully was 16 on 100 billboard chart open arms 18 lol please stop acting like you know music looking for attention both songs were mega hits your delusional go back to your crossword puzzles from the sunday paper
I dont know a huge amount of Journey's catalogue and stumbled on this track a long time ago by chance, amazing song and staggering vocal performance. Perry wasnt on my radar until i heard this....some people are born with a god given voice and some folks just learn to sing good, this guy has a phemomenal voice!
It's only when you really have a knowledge of how real music quality Is like and a expertise hearing that you can tell the difference. All those who dares to state the other REPLACEMENTS can be as great as Perry " but only different" wouldn't have that Sense. Only Castronovo was really good. But still didn't have Perry's soul and heart.
This song! It's too beautiful! It makes me think about the past and things i miss. I miss being young. It takes me back to a time when my grandma and my professors, Micheal Jackson and Whitney Houston were still alive. A world without the people you love is so painfully empty!
This song sends chills up my arms. Speaking from a 68 year old retired truck driver, there’s a lot of good trucking songs, but this one really hits home.
Every time I watch this clip I get tears in my eyes , there will never be another Steve Perry, a true gift to the music world , this band should have been still here today as a testimony and a witness of what is all about , music that touches the soul and encourages everyone to strive for excellence God bless you Journey you impacted my life , I will carry that through eternity
She Was A Legend! But Sadly She's Gone!... And I Feel Bad For you! Steve Parry Was A Great singer For Journey And his Solo Carrer! Sorry For Your lost!... Wish I Could meet her!... ✌️ I don't really know If you known Her But saying It Still is Sad
Steve Perry and journey created a masterpiece that God willing will still be around and going strong in 50 or 100 years. That is the power of talent and music that comes from the heart. Simply the Best. Glad I got to be part of it .
I was 14 years old when this song was released. I'm 51 now. In that 37 years, this is the only song that I could listen to every day and not get tired of it. Still going strong.
I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor, WHO'S CRYING NOW by Journey, and AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins on my YT channel in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and keep on rocking.
I was 17 when this was as released just out of high school and married my sweet heart 4 days before turning 18. It lasted 12 yrs and we grew apart. He found someone and I did to mine passed 7 yrs ago but when I hear this it takes me back to a better time in the world.
@@Nadeshiroo This song has that effect. I doubt it's just our generation that feels nostalgic about better, more carefree times in our lives. But the 80's sure seem to be more special. And songs like this really bring the memories.
I will always connect this song to my brother, Peter. He drove me 6 hours to my dorm as a freshman in college cuz he was like my dad. This song was playing on the car radio when we said goodbye and he started crying cuz he knew he wouldn't see me as much anymore. He shined as a brother, always supported and defended me. Now he's gone.......died in a car accident. It's been about 30 years of his death but it feels like yesturday.......the pain of never seeing the person again is what makes death so unforgiving. So please, please, please if you are reading this cherish the sweet people in your life that you love. Don't let a day pass without hugging them or a text, email a phone call saying I ❤ U.
Thank you for sharing such deep feelings. I am very sorry for your brother, but I am sure he looks after you from heaven, and thank you for your positive message regardless of the sorrow still remains after 30 years.
I saw Journey in the 80s with Prince and Sammy Hagar. Man, Steve Perry was magical. The world stood still while his voice filled the air. I'll never forget that moment. Ever. To hear this is to relive that over and over again.
Journey with Steve Perry played their last three shows in Anchorage, Alaska back in 1987. I didn't realize, at the time, how historic those shows would be.......
It's weird how u can listen to songs n get so many emotions running thru u. I'm 41 n this type of stuff is what I grew up on. So I get those memories going thru my head good bad happy sad but then I get an overwhelmingly sad feeling cuz it seems like we'll never get not only good music anymore but good times. Ppl can say what they want about the 80s but I felt like that decade was pretty fn cool. I was young but what I've gathered is we seemed more together. The connection between ppl was strong. Now look at us all u hear from tech companies is "more connected, stay connected" blah blah blah the more connected tech is the less connected we r. We've gotten dumber n more dependent but I guess those 2 go hand n hand. If the 80s were a person it'd b the life of the party tell it like it is loving punch u in the mouth obnoxiously likable bully beating nerd teaser.
@@Bebe.B.IMO ... (of the 2 y'all are talking about) Freddie had MUCH more stage presence, while Perry - like u said had the pipes. No male singer touches him.
The lyrics and melody combined. “I’m forever yours…faithfully.” Sang perfectly by Steve. Then into the electric guitar with those drums. Gives me goosebumps, every time.
It is just like having a time⌚ machine and this one took me back to 2008 when me and David were so in love and were sure it would last forever but forever came too soon he died and even though I'm 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙😊😊 someone else now I've never forgotten David or stopped loving❤️ him and never will😢❤

So unforgettable that they keep hiring guys who sound like him! LOL Until Steve returns, I'll not see them in concert, but enjoy these beautiful songs this way.
I consider Perry utterly unique. His voice is among the rarest that exists, classified as a tenor altino. There's just something deeply profound about witnessing someone who can sing like this.

Steve perry has one of the most powerful and beautiful voices ever!! So much passion and soul - damn, that note at the end is unbelievable!! He always touches my soul when he sings and I could listen to him 24/7. I have yet to see any male vocalist with the range, soul, passion and emotion all at once as steve has!!! His voice is hard to resist and if you don't feel something deep inside when he sings, something is wrong...
It's 2023 and I still can't think of a rock singer with a more perfect voice than Steve Perry....can you? My great-great-great grandkids will listen to Journey in 2099!!!
One of the greatest voices of not just 80's Rock. One of the greatest vocalist in any genre of music. I listened to mostly R/B soul and Rap, but know that his voice is...like Patti Labelle. Totally untouchable. I apologize for that comparison, but it's pretty on spot.
ron man STUPID close-minded FUCK, yes Hip Hop: Nas, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Tupac Shakur, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, De La Soul, etc, he has nothing to apologize about, you're the one who should apologize for being close-minded. MAKE SURE AND MEAN IT!
Jimmy Gotswaggert Steve was influenced vocally as a kid growing up by the late great Sam Cooke. He's basically a rock singer with an an operatic soulful vibe. It makes him very unique in that way
People who didn't grow up with this need to listen to 80's music, one of the most beautiful decades for music. If this song brings them to tears, I hope it is of happiness. :) Edit: Thnx for liking this, guys. I think that this is a beautiful song, and everyone needs it to have a little not in their soul.
"Two strangers learn to fall in love again.....I get the joy of rediscovering you"....beautiful lines. Being military, these lines mean so very much to us.
yep, those are some powerful words. It's too bad people now would rather run and escape, instead of stay and selflessly fix, save, strengthen their marriages... and learn what true love is really all about.
Perfectly said ... YES & irreplaceable I still can’t believe that I had to be home before BEFORE midnight on 12/31/86 Long Beach Arena -CA never have been able to see that concert in full - at least I gave up my stub to someone outside to see it he offered $$ but no way - here go have fun❣️if thinking maybe I should have had him get me their program - didn’t have enough money to get it - oh well
Concerts nowadays are just for the industry to boost their ego! Back in the days without cell phones and internet we could actually enjoy watching and listening to these icons! And I'm so extremely happy I got to experience the 80's era.
Plus no huge production with lights, pyrotechnics, spinning stage. Just great guys with a mic, guitar, and drums. That's why it was so affordable back them. I saw the Eagles I'm 1978 for $8.50, including parking.
Journey was a great band. Steve Perry was a phenomenal front man. His voice was just magical. I have yet to find anyone else with quite the range he has. Even more, to sound in concert exactly like you do on your records is great and very rare.
1983. Me and my first love driving home from the mountains in upstste NY back home to Brooklyn with the moon on the horizon. I was 17. She was 16. We did not last but I will never forget her. Be well Lisa.
56 years old and still listening to Journey. Love their music and always will. No matter who they get as a lead singer, no one can compare to Steve Perry.
"Faithfully" my favorite song of all time, Steve's vocals are unbelievable in that song. He is able to stay right in the middle mix pocket range which, when you ask other Great vocalist, they will tell you that it is next to impossible to do consistently. Steve makes it look easy. He has a gift from God and he has shared that gift with us, Thank you!
Hands-down the best concert I have ever been to in my life. I was only a young teenager at the time now age 60 I look back and nothing has ever surpassed it. I relive it in my mind like it was yesterday.
I just went to Their show at the Houston rodeo and the lead they have sounds exactly like him well I mean like the sound. I’m young I didn’t know the history of the band so I thought it was him until I asked my mom
This song came out on April 16, 1983 . My wife Angie and me were married 1mth 5 days before this and has been our landmark song for almost 38 yrs . It never gets old, just like our marriage. Greatest voice and band of all time folks. Sincere fact .
My mother's favourite song..... She passed unexpectedly on 22 Aug 2019 at home, whilst asleep. This will be one of her funeral songs. Sleep tight my darling. Not only my mother but my best friend. I love you forever and always xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 💙💙💙
Your mom and you now share this unique connection via this song. May she rest in peace....and may this song always remind you of the special moments you both shared.
I am so connected to this band and the meaning of this beautiful genre and melody. I was 18 years old in 1974. This is the most romantic and beautiful music of my time here on earth. Thank You Jesus.
As i grow older... 47 now... The beer tastes different, the clothes are boring and the food doesnt have that zing, the friendships aren't fresh nor loud... and then I listen to Journey and everything that had been young and beautiful is remembered........ the girls, the pubs, the rock shows and all that fun....... Thank you Steve, thank you Journey for such a great rock song.
One in a video a tv host in the Philippines asked Arnel of his fave song of Steve Perry Arnel said it's Faithfully I smile b coz it's also my fave song and many people in this Universe like it it removes my stressed and my dad past
I never listened to Journey in my teens. Now that I'm in my 50's I can appreciate the great music it is. So much current music is commercialized garbage.
"Faithfully" Highway run Into the midnight sun Wheels go round and round You're on my mind Restless hearts Sleep alone tonight Sending all my love Along the wire They say that the road ain't no place to start a family Right down the line it's been you and me And lovin' a music man ain't always what it's supposed to be Oh, girl, you stand by me I'm forever yours Faithfully Circus life Under the big top world We all need the clowns To make us smile Through space and time Always another show Wondering where I am I'm lost without you And being apart ain't easy on this love affair Two strangers learn to fall in love again I get the joy of rediscovering you Oh, girl, you stand by me I'm forever yours Faithfully Faithfully I'm still yours I'm forever yours Ever yours Faithfully
Journey was done when Steve left, only savior was getting someone that sounded like him. But no music produced without him will ever touch people like it did. Like most iconic bands, one without the other, its just not the same. All together was Journey.

It is rare when a song is just perfect. This song is absolute perfection. Everything about it is right. The words, music, guitar solo and Perry's voice I don't know how it could get any better. Faithfully has to be top 5 all-time songs ever written.
it's less known, but in my opinion "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever" is even better than Faithfully... I am a HUGE Journey /Steve Perry fan since 1983. I was a teenager in the 80's and music was at its best! I am now 51 years old and this is the song I played at my wedding to my husband Patrick Rascon. Been together 33 1/2 years and married now for almost 23 years. We have 2 wonderful sons Nathan and Nicholas and they were both raised on Journey music. Steve Perry is back now after being gone for 25 years. He has a great album called Traces and I love it! WELCOME BACK Steve Perry!
Yes, me too. A huge Journey since 1980. Went to my first concert in LA, California. My kids raised on the 70's and 80's music. My daughter wanted to go to Joan Jet concert for her 23rd birthday....so we did.
Journey and Steve Perry are magic. I listened to them when I was a teenager and am still in awe of his voice at age 49. My 9 year old now loves Don't Stop Believing and the last song of my wedding with my husband was Faithfully. His voice gives you chills.
I was born in 2004 my mom had her teenage years in the 70s and 80s. One of the best things about my childhood was that my mother had good taste in music and exposed all the 80s hits to me.
Tiffany Elery I am a 40 yr old man and that part has made me tear up several times....he is on the road, the miss each other, become distant...but, each time he comes home its like falling in love and meeting for the first time....and that look he gives to the camera after...when he says "Faithfully" lol

I dedicated this song to the love of my life at 21 years old. Left for the army. Ten years later four kids and still the love of my life. Life’s a journey, make sure you are faithful and know where your heart lays
I sing this song all the time. I've listened to it countless times. Now, while working-I can't quite express it-listening to it in the background really moved me. It almost made me cry. It's so meaningful and beautifully performed... what a classic. Absolutely massive.
Listening to Journey with my dad in his truck every single day when I was growing up is one of the best memories I have of us. This music will always be able to recreate that feeling for me. Thank you, Journey, for giving that to me.

I think cause open arms came first ? … I consider faithfully the biggest ! Loved the video too
It's only when you really have a knowledge of how real music quality Is like and a expertise hearing that you can tell the difference.

In my opinion, the most powerful love ballad of all time. Hands down.

This song has that effect. I doubt it's just our generation that feels nostalgic about better, more carefree times in our lives. But the 80's sure seem to be more special. And songs like this really bring the memories.
Hands down the greatest rock song of all time! And the greatest vocalist of all time! Thank you Steve Perry! ❤ I hope one day to thank you in person!
30 years later the pain carries on. Sorry for your loss. Your brother is your guardian angel. This song is so timeless and relatable 🙏❤️
Thank you for sharing such deep feelings. I am very sorry for your brother, but I am sure he looks after you from heaven, and thank you for your positive message regardless of the sorrow still remains after 30 years.

This song.....this band and Steve Perry will live forever! Hands down one of the best vocalist that's ever lived!
I'm forever yours. Faithfully.
Journey and Steve Perry are magic. I listened to them when I was a teenager and am still in awe of his voice at age 49. My 9 year old now loves Don't Stop Believing and the last song of my wedding with my husband was Faithfully. His voice gives you chills.
Lisa Hughes same my dad blessed me with this. Wish I was born in the seventies
I was born in 2004 my mom had her teenage years in the 70s and 80s. One of the best things about my childhood was that my mother had good taste in music and exposed all the 80s hits to me.
@@littlebear3554your pretty 😍
I swear to god I die every time at "two strangers learn to fall in love again. I get the joy of rediscovering you." Such beautiful lyrics

2389Taylor omg yes that part of the song gets me too.
Tiffany Elery I am a 40 yr old man and that part has made me tear up several times....he is on the road, the miss each other, become distant...but, each time he comes home its like falling in love and meeting for the first time....and that look he gives to the camera after...when he says "Faithfully" lol
Mr3D SMP Yesssss you feel everything he's saying. It's beautiful to be able to fall in love with someone over and over again. Nothing wrong with being aware of your feelings.
Me too! Those are my favorite lines, it moves me every time!
I dedicated this song to the love of my life at 21 years old. Left for the army. Ten years later four kids and still the love of my life. Life’s a journey, make sure you are faithful and know where your heart lays
Very good words I think the same way as you, God bless you and your family always
Thank you for these words. May God continue to Bless you Eternal
@@SadeWatkins thank you

You're a good man ❣👏
I sing this song all the time.
I am SO happy for you! Your words brought tears to my eyes!

Sounds like your dad was a good man. He raised you well.
🙏
This song got me laid in 1982, I would like to officially thank the band Journey, and the town of Ocean City Maryland for making the whole event possible. I couldn't have done it without you. My whole Family thanks you.
Tell us more....sounds like an interesting story
lost mine in OC,Summer of 85. Of course I was a local and tourist girls were ripe for the picking. Think I had Henleys Boys of Summer on and the girl was named Raquel and I never saw her again.
I agree with Random, you must have a awesome story to tell. did you marry her? have a awesome child together? or confirm that ur not gay?
Yes I married her, Melissa, light of my life, passed away 2 years ago, We have two sons cool guys, we're kind of like the three Musketeers sometimes. ( or the Three Stooges more likely)Never too far away.
+Robert Dunkes SR so sorry Robert. I couldn't even imagine what that's like. glad you have ur boys to enjoy and remember ur wife by. I've been married 38 years and couldn't live without her

There is a reason why bands like Journey, Queen, the Rolling Stones (and many more) are still around - it's called talent!
You are right no one should watch today’s music
It’s so depressing and this is my only solace
Legends!!!
Yep and The CARS..DRIVE will always be a classic.
Its called 🐐!
Steve Perry has one of the greatest voices in recorded music history - of any genre.
I AGREE that he has one of the GREATEST voices I just hate the way journey did him
YES!!!
Yes i agree him and also Freddie mercury!!!!!
I agree,I hated to see him leave journey when he did I kinda did as well.
@@gregorynelson2584 - What did Journey do you him? In every recent interview I've watched he said he left because he wasn't inspired anymore, basically.
Steve Perry is still the voice of Journey. No one else can replace him even though they try.
One of the greatest songs ever recorded what a great voice.
Sure does take me back in time & a flow of some pretty fun amazing times🤟🏼 🎶 ❤️
Yep
Steve's voice was never matched by anyone. That vibrato tho...
I prefer Cryin
Agree but let’s not forget Who’s Crying Now……simply timeless
Lyrics: Highway Run
Into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
You're on my mind
Restless hearts
Sleep alone tonight
Sendin' all my love
Along the wire
They say that the road
Ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line
It's been you and me
And lovin' a music man
Ain't always what it's supposed to be
Oh girl you stand by me
I'm forever yours-faithfully
Circus life
Under the big top world
We all need the clowns
To make us smile
Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am
Lost without you
And being apart ain't easy
On this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall
In love again
I get the joy
Of rediscovering you
Oh girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours-faithfully
Oh, oh, oh, oh-
Faithfully, I'm still yours
I'm forever yours
Ever yours-faithfully
Great Song🎶🎶🎶
Such a beautiful song
Journey always had mystery in their sound that made it bigger

candy DYKSTRA I do not know
@candy DYKSTRA No this song is a love song about missing a significant other while on the road!!! My Favorite Journey Song🎶
This is when music was romantic and hits you straight in the heart Steven's voice makes me cry like a big baby with lots of passion
Robert Young 😍😍
Great music
I have never felt the emotions this man can bring out with his voice. It’s like magic!
I’m 14 and pretty much the only kid in my class who knows about this. Everyone always says I have some eccentric tastes in music but I’m just keeping the great songs alive
I FELT THIS!!! a lot of kids I know my age haven't even heard of Journey but everyone has different taste in what they like.
Bruh everyone that does this always makes a big deal about it and try’s to act like they’re so special or different for listening to an old band. There’s probably thousands and thousands of kids who do this shit it doesn’t matter.
The Ungreatress - Do all the kids in your class have the exact same taste in fashion, or have the same favorite food? I didn't think so. You listen to whatever music your ears like and makes your brain happy.
Old school music is the best....they make music like this anymore
Go ahead young lady, you've got great taste in music and don't let anyone tell you different! 😉👌
