Agreed. I mean I absolutely love Asian food and appreciate how a lot of it is cooked, but unless you are trying to create a fusion sort of a restaurant then the owner should provide use of the correct kitchen equipment for what you are cooking.
If anybody wanted to know...Blackberry's closed in March 2013, Shelly posted the below,
“I want to say we just no longer saw room for growth. We were so stagnant. We were maintaining, barely, but not able to generate the clientele we wanted,” Withers explained. “I think we gave it 10 good years. We had a wonderful time and are looking on to bigger and better things.”

I was an exterminator. Sometimes when you put down your "posions" for mice, it can take a little for them to die. They eat the bait and can survive for a time and eventually succumb to the posioning. Its not an immediate thing like people think.

She reminds me of my mum's best friends mum such an amazing a caring person who will go out of their way to to make sure everyone is happy even if that means she has to go without herself and she used to make the most amazing jerk chicken ever and baked the most amazing cakes I think that's a thing that all Jamaican grandmothers do ❤

The original kitchen nightmares from the UK he featured a woman from the states who started a soul food restaurant in England. She taught him a lot about the food. It's a great episode, if you ever have time you should watch it.

Mama Mary is too precious and she's an absolute Angel unlike her daughter. I'm glad she doesn't spoil her and always put her in her place. I always get the sense that Gordon loooooves sweets. He almost always likes the dessert they bring him.
It's mostly because baking and desserts are very precise with their ingredients and how it needs to be cooked, there's very little room of error if prepared nicely compared to normal food where a lot of things could be changed

Kitchen Nightmares was a reality TV show. Without moments like these, people would lose interest. The histrionics, incompetent chefs, mice, and decaying food were all part of the entertainment aspect of the show. The show would have bored people to death if it were run under normal circumstances.
@@RobbieStacks90I’m sure editing along with the music cues embellish the drama, but I don’t think they would need a planted mouse. There is typically enough drama happening organically. Have you ever worked in a restaurant? Any given kitchen has enough drama and chaos to supply its own reality show. If anything, kitchen nightmares only scratches the surface. There is so much drugs, sex, and baby momma drama in just about every casual dining restaurant in the US.
I just love Mateen, i hope he got some job as a proper chef after this resto closed. Shelley is lucky to have Mary as her mother and have a bunch of level-headed workers on her resto, but her pride is her downfall. I hope she learned something from this.
For people thinking that the mouse was planted, you know there are cameras right? After the changes, reviews for Blackberry’s were a bit hit or miss.
Some reviewers praised the restaurant, even calling it a “phoenix rising from the ashes”.
While there were ups and downs, I would say that the Yelp reviews generally seemed to show some positive improvements.
Sadly, it would not be enough to save the restaurant.
Blackberry’s Restaurant closed its doors for good in March 2013, which was around 1.5 years after the Blackberry Restaurant Kitchen Nightmares episode aired on TV.
the Blackberry’s staff said that the restaurant was unable to content with an economic downturn and struggled because of a lack of parking.
As of 2022, the old Blackberry’s Plainfield, NJ location has been filled by a bakery called Un Nuevo Renacer Bakery.
Reviews seem average but the restaurant has been successful so far where Blackberry’s failed.
After Blackberry’s closed, she got a job at Aramark working as the Kitchen Manager/Lead.
If you’re not familiar with Aramark, it’s a big company behind a lot of food places (e.g. college cafeterias and stuff).
So it appears that Shelly Withers is still involved in the food industry, even if she doesn’t have her own restaurant.
Mateen Booker was the sous chef at Blackberry’s who was actually competent. He has remained in the restaurant industry since Blackberry’s closed.
Currently, he’s the executive chef at OTG management, but he’s also worked as a chef at The Standard Hotels and Sunset Beach.
He’s been with OTG Management since 2016, so Mateen seems to be doing well there.

Shelley and Laura from Mama Rita's definitely share some common traits - the difference is that Laura learned from her mistakes in the episode and was quick to adapt upon realizing that she can't use catering methods for restaurants.

i'm not saying he did do it but they do anything for sake of television . especially if you ask some of the customers that are present during these shows and also masterchef . you would understand how scripted these shows are.

I gotta admit that it seems plausible that someone from the show planted that mouse and didn't even tell Ramsay. In the place it was located, how did none of the other staff see it? I know they use the back door, but the front door got unlocked somehow, and they would have seen it.
Sure, but we also need to acknowledge that some of the staff admitted that there is a mice problem at Blackberry's. It would be one hell of a coincidence for the crew to plant a dead mouse in a place that secretly has a mice problem. Unless they found some when installing the cameras all over the place, I suppose...
The framing by the camera crew does make it look suspicious. Best case scenario the crew saw it earlier but decided not to say anything and when Gordon spotted it they were already primed, with the reaction of the BlackBerry staff too entertaining not to use. If Gordon didn't spot it that part of the recording would probably just be cut.
Or the exterminator came in and all the mice are dropping dead where-ever like the kitchen staff said they were.
It’s plausible that the placement was a coincidence, and it’s plausible that it was staged. If it was staged, this is an example of awful gaslighting, either by Gordon, or by the person/people from the crew who didn’t come forward.
They're not going to source a dead mouse and plant it. They obviously saw it and thought "wow, this is TV gold", though. So they gave Gordon a heads up and didn't tell the restaurant.
How could she first blame him for planting a mouse and then going further on to being ungrateful for what this amazing man did to help Her business

Everybody knows that you don't eat everybody's chittlins. Chef Ramsey was brave to even order them.
The employees were dedicated and skilled. There was no need for Blackberry's to fail. I wish the owner would have had that realization.
