I love how all the customers become food critics when they know Gordon Ramsey is there
It's a reality show lol.... They're told to be that way. I was recently on bar rescue, I responded to an ad on craigslist. The producers want you to be critical .
Probably for the cameras.
@@pmcrevenant1297 no shit xD
@@jagreen2603 do they tell you specifically to be negative?
@@hherrie3tuoepiw no, or at least not with some, I can't say for every show but most just ask you to point out if, for example, the meat is chewy, lacks flavor, is overpowering, etc. You don't have to be a jerk, but they want you to mention if something's off
I love how his son let his dad rage at him, knowing he needed to do it and being proud that he did it.
❤️❤️❤️ so genuine
yeah the son recognized that he'd been messing up
the son is honestly one of the coolest people we've had on this show. he's the man.
Very cool how the son was proud his Dad chewed his ass.
Well, as compared to see his father on the verge of breaking down most of the time. It was good for a start. I'm glad that there isn't too much conflict to begin with for this restaurant.
I love how immediately after Gordon teaches the owner how to assert himself he's swearing and screaming every 5 seconds lmao
You took a FuCKinG order?!
Gordon created a Demon
I love that he called mark a hostess. 😂
You can't make someone be what they're not, I don't see it as any bad thing that the owner is a nice guy, just cos Gordon is abusive all the time doesn't mean he has to be, it's just that being a nice guy doesn't work for business if your staff take advantage of your good nature which Chef Aurelio did. The bottom line for me is he shouldn't be running a restaurant regardless of how good the food is, he should be doing something else less demanding that could've suited his personality more
I don't think the owner was pretending to be someone he's not, but more like he had that release with Gordon's yelling exercises. I know from experience if you've got bottled up emotions, once you let them out once, it's hard to put that cork back on the bottle. He'd probably ly just been pushed way past his breaking point and finally couldn't hold it in anymore.
This is one of the funniest episodes. Dean with the handcuffs, yelling, Mark sweating, what a cast of characters this was 😂
LMFAO FRR
I agree, this episode is so LA based lolol
LMAOAO this episode had me crying 🤣🤣
One of the best casts. Rita? and the like jersey sitcom crew are also pretty hilarious as a group.
Mark was def one of my fav managers
"Im just happy the dog ate the burger cause if that dog didnt eat it we're fucked" thats the realist line ever spoken by a restaurant worker
well I just saw it as their standards were disappointingly low...hoping/relieved to meet dog food calibre...nuts!
He's not the owner. He's just an employee hehe
That bit was fucking hilarious 🤣
@@pepsy. he said worker not owner
😂🤣 he kept it reallll
It's refreshing to see a restaurant owner on this show who isn't a stubborn, arrogant prick. I was genuinely rooting for this guy.
If anything he was too nice on the outside and suppressed too much of his issues in his guts...good for Gordon to try to wake him up to management 101.
It's the other side of the coin. Just as bad. It's advertising people to take advantage of them, like a sign saying "hey i'm easy, do what you want" Nobody respect that shit. People want a leader. I would've fired that cook in a minute, no balls this guy.
Glad you weren't rooting for me. I'll do my own rooting thanks very much. Just so you know, rooting means something completely different in Aus to what it does in the Ununited States

This owner was one of the only one that I was on his side the whole time. He was not egotistic, not in denial, accepts all the criticisms and opened to change. He needs to be saved!
yeah it felt kinda brutal for RAmsay in the opening scenes to go after him when he knew the guy was accepting all the criticisms and harsh truths.
I dunno, I think he went overboard with that chef in the end. "Go faster!" isn't constructive, and if the chef is doing the best they can without making mistakes, what are you going to demand he do? Also, I lose a lot of respect for an employer when they respond to 'Give me the money you owe me' with "That's all you care about! I'm not paying you a cent!" Like it's a job, employees are literally there to do work in exchange for money.
He did recover in the end though, I'm glad to see.
@@JubJubtheWonderHippo that Chef was bad to begin with though.
i agree
Unfortunately they shut down in 2011 😞
That son is real as fuck “I think we chef Ramsay’s help because we don’t know what the fuck we’re doing.” Hahaha
At least they realized that. Too many owners of those restaurants are like 'Everything we're doing is perfect and flawless and wonderful, but we're failing. We need Ramsay to tell us what completely unrelated external factor is preventing our success, because it is clearly and obviously not our fault. D'uh."
he was a real one for sure :D
And how he was proud of his dad for saying what he actually feels. Good shit right there.

People like this should never be in any food business. Serving rotten shit, taking advantage and ripping off customers. Even with the best help in the world, they will never succeed, and closed shop in 2011, only 3 years after Ramsey was there.
Good riddance. Let someone with empathy towards its customers, someone serving good food take over. Its how it should be. Rotten places should close. And new ones should be able to give it a go.

Why do I always feel like Gordon are working as both a chef and a therapist😂
I was rolling with laughter when Gordon was coaching the owner how to shout at his staff but it's also sad how genuine and nice people have to change themselves just so others don't take advantage of their kindness.
Sometimes even shouting at someone is out from kindness. If someone is in denial not listening to reasons the kindest thing you can do is to shout them out of it and Gordon knows it too well. There is a very thin line between kind shouthing and being just a dick and the owner here showed it when he told his chief to go faster or go away.
You can be a good person and be assertive of your standards. Ramsey himself is evidence of that
I was a teacher and foster mum. I had a lot of angry (understandably so) abused kids in my care and it's my responsibility to give them a positive outlet for that anger. I had a couple of methods that worked best. One was to whack a pillow against their bed to physically get this anger out and the other is to go up a local hill and shout it out which never failed to end in laughter. It's important to teach them that the feeling of anger is okay as long as they don't act in anger. Gordon reminded me that getting frustrations out by screaming when no one is around of course.
@@amyrivers4093 my therapist as a kid took us to a scrapyard/junkyard and let me loose with a cricket bat. "If you aren't letting out frustrations, they are being stored and it doesn't get any lighter". That has stuck with me and was the initial framework for how I've moved through life and how I address my own emotional dysregulation; I've not been in a position where I've felt I had to release physically since
@GamePadStreaming your therapist sounds awesome, it's so true that if we don't get those feelings out they will fester inside us. Xx
Why is nobody talking about how gordon ramsay is not only a chef, but practically a psychologist he literally pushed this man to find his back bone.

Santa La Brea was revisited in a subsequent episode of Kitchen Nightmares where it was revealed that Dean would be retiring and traveling overseas and that his sons Sammy and Arthur would be taking over the restaurant (with Sammy’s girlfriend stepping in as the new manager).
That arrangement didn’t last, however. By 2011, just three years after they were featured on Kitchen Nightmares, it was announced that they’d be selling the business (according to online records, the sale was officially completed in June 2011). While Sammy and Arthur never revealed what the official reason for closing was, many believe that they were burnt out and needed a break. It’s currently unknown whether or not they’re still involved with the restaurant industry (a Google search didn’t come up with any results).
True mvp right here.

I just hope the dad doesn't equate success with being egotistical, because too much of it has the same effect on others as having too little of it.
the chef was underpaid. i'm not surprised he was fed up. and he was owed money. that's fucking bullshit. you see that car? nobody doing well drives that kind of car. i hope he got a raise when the restaurant started doing better. my guess is that he didn't, though.
if the food is shit, fire the chef. the owner kept on a guy who was desperate enough to work for a shit wage.
and the owner retired early to live a life of luxury shortly after this was aired. he profited off the backs of his staff. if people complained about the food, well they got what the owner was willing to pay for. i wouldn't break my back to get paid a pittance either.
@@MrToiletLove LOL YOURE JUDGING BY HIS FUCKING CAR LOLLLLL some people are just slobby or like cheaper cars lmao
@@MrToiletLove Your wrong, HE WAS PAID HIGH, Wheres your SOURCES!
@@MrToiletLove a lot of people that are doing very well, but are smart with their money and drives old beat-up cars until they don't run.
Gordon and team are great. The show highlights how much the restaurant operators care about what they do. And in this particular instance, they are nice people that really care
This is one of the few episodes from the many i saw, i sticked with the owner right away.
So humble for the help, no arguing, capable of self-reflection, willing to do everything to lift up the food quality, change his attitude to become a better boss to save his restaurant...his life and passion. ❤
"When I smell bullshit, I go straight for the jugular."
Gotta love Gordon Ramsay.
My captions changed it to juggler. Fitting considering the circus most of these places are lol
If you smell bullshit you need to get rid of the asshole 😉
Love the fact that the owners kid was happy when his dad showed some gusto and yelled at him shows he was raised right and actually cares about the business
Like restaurant boot camp. Break you down, humble your ego, then rebuild you from the ground up. Love it or hate it, it's a formula that works at the end of the day. And an experience not likely to be forgotten any time soon.
He is the nicest owner to ever appeared on this show so far 😂😂😂 when the son said, "I am happy to see him happy"made me tear up as well..
Owner is too nice he actually struggles to be mad! I hope I have his patience in my life.
i feel for him , it's one of the moment that you felt guilty for being mad even though you have a reason to be . It so hard because it is for them to take a advantage
He has a patience million times than I lol, 😅
I feel so bad for him.
The owner had a good heart and his son is right at his side. It’s beautiful
right 👍
35:28 wow he's getting treated like the other employees, that's crazy
I really enjoyed watching this episode with Dean going berserk and Mark getting his screen time with sweaty armpits.. amazing!
This owner is by far my favourite. His whole heart and soul is in this business and I hope from the bottom of my heart, that he and his business succeeds!!
Agreed, they're usually egomaniac douchebags but this fellow was a genuinely caring and people walked over him
The chef and the host guy should have been booted out
same
It closed in 2011. 🤣😅😂
@@Temulon at least he sold it. I hope he got a decent price for it, he seems like a decent guy.
@@Temulon , Yeah it sure did!😂 The fact that all these shows are staged by Jordan Ramsey and its producers... musty , lazee cooks and everything customers complaining its all for entertainment that's just Jordan Ramsey selling his brand😂😂
"C'mon man gimme a hug... this is some fatherly love shit." 😂😭
The son is more of a Dad than the actual Dad
I like how the father is some FOB southern european and the son is some LA cholo. Did they do son swap or something
@@opinion56 was thinking the same, mother is probably Mexican or Spanish
