The chicken killed Adric as part of a faction paradox ritual
It was Adric's ashes that gave that chicken life. SO THE CHICKEN MUST END THAT LIFE EARLY...
Gotta love Tegan getting hammered throughout the whole story, it's honestly a big mood xD
The funniest thing about this episode? The Wikipedia page has its plot listed as ‘too long or excessively detailed’
I will say that the DVD for this episode is worth it for the commentary alone. Davison Fielding Sutton and Waterhouse are a delight, just roasting the hell out of the episode and having a gas revisiting the miserable shoot.
More entertaining than the episode itself really.
14:27 Got nothing on Barbara downing wine after dealing with Nero in the Romans. Needs to be a gif
I don’t know if it’s still the case but about a year ago the first image on the Classic Who Rotten Tomatoes page was the Doctor’s harlequin costume from this episode.
Just checked, it’s still there
@@_alex_merrick_ oh dear
The Fifth Doctor did actually go to prison once for what ended up being over a year and yea he kept being ignored and thrown into solitary. It's a wonder he survived.
Adric is literally me at every party.
“The War MrTardis” more like the War Mister
The Spy Mister
7:39 so the Classic Who equivalent of 'The Empty Child' and 'The Doctor Bonks'?
The Empty Child being described as a "beach episode" has sent me
1:04 I'm always reluctant to class Black Orchid as a historical for that reason - it's just "hangin' out in the past". It's not as if it _needed_ to be the 1920s, and could have been set at any time when toffs played cricket and went on voyages of adventure - in other words, just about any year from the Victorian era onwards.
Watched this episode recently. I had no idea this existed until I watched the whole two episodes. The fact that so much nothing happened in the first episode, and then the last episode took it from a 1 to a whopping 3. Out of ten. Not the worst, but certainly an episode
Thanks for the -review- chicken.
apparently Mathew also ate the celery on the lapel on the 5th doctor's jacket
I was too busy watching this video to notice I couldn't watch it.
STRIKE ME PINK!
wait what's the 13 and Yaz in hospital clip from at 17:58??? that looking amazing
black orchid and planet of fire can both be described as beach episodes but not quite
for a beach episode you need an episode that is relaxed, has a beach setting, fan service, shipping fuel and is filler
they're both relaxed and black orchid is both filler and shipping fuel, but not really a lot of fan service and it's also not in a beach
planet of fire is on a beach and also has plenty of fanservice with the introduction of peri (and turlough also does some too) but i don't recall it having much shipping fuel and it's decidedly NOT a filler episode with the master being in, a companion being introduced and two being written off
Some Five Doctor personal tidbits you might find amusing:
I never learned to tell the difference between Nyssa and Tegan while watching it.
Nash Bozard in a Doctor Who review called Barbara "the lady with the 10 o' clock Tom Collins", so l'm happy to see history repeat itself.
I don't like Turlough or how he never did anything in the stories l watched, so l felt very vindicated by an audioplay in which Five says "What, you'll go hide in the Tardis like always?"
I completely agree that Five is accessible to never viewers. I went straight for his shorter episodes when starting Classic Who.
I thought Five's "Why would we need the Sonic?" was the most ironic statement l'd ever heard as a modern Who watcher.
And finally: Man, Mr. TARDIS has changed a lot since l watched him if that cartoon is accurate.
More of this please!!
I missed this series!!!!!
11:56 New merch idea here
The cricket match reminds me of the 70s/80s Grange Hill sports events. I'm doing a Grange Hill binge watch and so far those matches are tedious and tiresome.
Always bugged me how Ann and Nyssa looked alike. Ah yes, an alien from Traken and a girl from 1920s England look identical? Pfft no point explaining that!
The Doctor has managed to be identical to people all the time: First and Second looked the same as people from Earth, Six had the same face as another Time Lord, and Twelve straight up modelled his face off a Roman man he saved once.
@@TheDanishGuyReviews and also a decendant of said roman shares' the twelfth doctor's face
not only that but both romana's had faces identical to other people iirc, although the second romana copied that face on purpose
1:45 steamengine peter davison is a timeless child???
Teagen drinks to avoid blurting out that she IS the timeless child.
Btw, the email, when was the last time we spoke?
@@Ben-vf5gk - the email's been done for weeks, but the notes for your script I'm attaching still need finishing. I thought I'd attach my Big Finish submission too, I'm not sure I've even done it right.
@@nightowl8477 Did you get your submission in by the 30th?
@@Ben-vf5gk - yis I think so. Really wish they sent an automatic email confirming they've received it, I'm still worried I typed in the address wrong.
@@nightowl8477 I did get an automatic email so I'm not sure what that's about. What address did you use? I copied it from the website page about the competition
This was my first episode of your show. Consider me a fan!
Might have to watch this crazy ride lol
last time a tried to watch this episode I fell asleep lol
If the fifth doctor went to prison he probably escaped and if he doesn't he might die but then he'll Escape anyways six can definitely survive prison
can you guys watch Ghost Light next and maybe take Acid and just experience a "Trip of a Lifetime"
It was orphan 55 benni
I think it might be my favourite Davison. Though it seems like a marmite story.
Please watch more of the classic era with commentary!
Editing a Colin Baker adventure today!
@@SamyulDavis nice! Keep up the good work!
17:58 Wait, what’s this from?
Never mind, found it! Comic Relief 2021, I hadn’t seen that clip before.
I believe Davison's Campion is a better Doctor than Davison's Doctor
