Courtney Hadwin, Sign of the times! (UNREAL!) Old Town road! Pretty Little Things!
She's the (Janice Joplin sounding!) AGT golden buzzer winner! That's one to check out too!
You need to react to Geoff’s cover of Shenandoah
i can't patreon ( not the money) but i would like you to react to some "akiko shikata" songs there is very little live song from her because she FEAR stage imensely but i would like "pantalea" ( you could not find it live) and if you want live ( she have only do 1 live performance) try "luna piena", thank you Maggie! for information she is a lyrical singer and composer from japan!
You so need to react to the Icelandic band Sigur Ros
Would love to see you react to Rush...closer to the heart, spirit of radio or tom sawyer would be fantastic .
Meatloaf is what happens when you have the voice for Opera, but want to sing Rock N Roll. Such a powerful voice.
I wish Michael Bolton would have done more songs like this - he had the voice but isn't half the performer that Meatloaf was
Meatloaf actually wanted to be a famous actor and his stage shows always reflected that plus he was a GREAT actor
His theatrical gestures are so simple but so dramatic.
Watch ‘Fight Club.’ He was Bob with Bitch Tits!
Thank God he chose this path. We have plenty of Opera Singers, but there's only one Meatloaf.
He was one of the most underrated artists in history. The man is a legend. ♥️
I wouldn't say underrated. Underhyped maybe. He's like third or fourth in total albums sold. Bat Out of Hell remains the fourth most sold album of all time which is pretty darn impressive being that it was his first one. People love his music, they buy his music, they just don't talk about his music.
@@CrimFerret I already knew that. What I meant by under rated was the same as what you said. Fans bought the albums, critics didn't give him enough praise.
Definitely 10000 percent underrated - Ken Tamplin just did 20 best vocalist in rock and included another 15 honorable mentions and Meat didn't make the list. You see many good meat covers on you tube ? I don't, and its because most people can't sing like Meat, He was a top 5 vocalist IMO --- I would put him up with McCartney, Lennon and Robert Plant/Freddie Mercury
@@richardhansen3703 the two best rock singers of ever, Freddie Mercury and Meat Loaf, what do you think?
@@jacobdavis8903 Yes
By the way... the piano player is the late great Jim Steinman... the songwriter/lyricist/collaborator... he wrote for others too, and you can hear him in every song, regardless of who is performing... but Meat Loaf brought his music to life!
Roy Bitten played piano on the album, this is the recording that they’re using. Jim Steiman did play piano on this tour
He sure did!
Absolutely a powercouple. The writing by Jim and the performance by Meat Loaf combined made the music rise waaaayy above average. I grew up with Paradise... and will always consider it special, but all the other songs from Bat out of Hell I, II & III are great, not a single bad apple among them....
He wrote Total Eclipse of the Heart, amazingly sung by Bonnie Tyler
@@donaldstone540 which was written for Meatloaf but he didn’t want it
"Objects in the rearview mirror may appear closer than they are" is a must watch music video. Extremely powerful!!!
Oh yeah, another man haunted by his past. Great song.
LOVE that song. Not enough reacts out there for it yet.
Absolutely
His live one from the 90s is amazing
Great shout. One of the best story songs steinman and him ever did
Meatloaf had such an incredible voice and was such an incredible performer. He was part of my youth and I lost yet another piece of it when he passed. RIP dude. You are and always will be dearly missed.
Agreed. So many unforgettable memories with this music.
Right there with you. I saw him live and even today, very few could equal his performance.
Well said..my childhood and teen years as well... RIP and very missed!
I feel as if a part of my youth died with the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades of memories.
Jim was a songwriting genius and only Meat could bring it to life like that. ❤️
At first you think this was just Jim making a little bit of a joke, and it's a guy who just can't commit. Then you find out he's just carrying on the hurt from the woman he loved, and the cycle continues. It's a lot deeper song when you think about it. Steinman and Meatloaf were brilliant.
A great team for sure. I love their music.
They are both the same woman - she left him then she came back but he couldn't love her again after she had walked out on him.
Steinman said in an interview that the song was based on a past experience, He was basically told by a girl....I want you....I need you....but I don't love you and he thought to himself...."Well two outta three ain't bad".

@@Cissy777 Thank you for your well thought out and reasoned response. You have really added value to the thread.
In 1975, while in college (yeah, I'm old), I went to see a midnight showing of a campy movie (Rocky Horror Picture Show) and saw a young Meat Loaf singing. Two years later when Bat Out of Hell was released, I rushed out and got it. Followed him religiously since then. I will miss him, but will continue to listen to his music - especially those Jim Steinman wrote.
If you haven't done "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth" yet, you need to. One of his best songs imo.
For Crying Out Loud is one of Meatloaf's best songs but it is seriously underrated
Love that song too.
1…..he’s so missed already. A legend and will never be forgotten.
Meatloaf songs have this tint of realism that makes them so great.
Things are not always perfect, real life is messy, good can change to bad, and bad can morph into something good… Sometimes life just does what it does, despite our own desires.
Actually Cracker Jack did a promotion in the early 80's where they did put car keys in their prize package. They tried it for 3 years and had no one claim a car. The theroy is that the boxes ended up being opened by kids who didn't realize that the prize was an actual car.
R.I.P. Meatloaf. One of the best to ever do it. One of the highest selling albums of all time, and still never got the credit he absolutely deserved. One of the few celebs that died I actually gave a damn about. Right up with Betty White for me.
He sings so well, but like others, I think you also have to give it to Jim Steinman, he writes, or should I say wrote (RIP) brilliant, engaging and entertaining songs. I have the Steinman album, bad for good. His voice is not as strong as Meatloaf's, but exactly the same musos and backing singers, and so similar to Meatloaf.
'For crying out loud' is an absolute powerhouse ballad and is pure beauty
Meatloaf was more musical theater than rocker. Every one of his videos are pure rock opera. Thanks for featuring him. RIP Meatloaf.
this week, since his death, meatloaf now has, in the UK charts, 2 albums in the top 5 AND 1 album in the top 25 AND 3singles in the top 40.
Amazing
new listeners that have never heard him
Meat was a great storyteller. And he had the passion and the pipes to pull to it off. God Bless him.
The way he holds his head back, the way he can make my heart skip a beat with the flick of his hand just captivates me. He feels a song to it core essence.
Oh, me too.
You Took the Words Right out of My Mouth is simply a "must" - the most epic intro to a song ever!
That's Jim Steinman on piano. He writes almost all of Meatloaf's songs. He died 9 months before Meatloaf.
Definitely do Bat Out of Hell.
She did it the same night :D Hopefully will be edited and join the channel in the future.
@@trixiebella Yeah, I saw that after I posted this. Looks like that's what's happening. Thanks.
Great sighting. Most people don't know that was Jim. He toured on and off with Meatloaf to support the record.
@@jasonbroad5478 Surprised he wasn't in the video more. I always watch for him. He deserves more credit as does Todd Rundgren.
@@jimspetdragons3737 You speak the truth my friend..Todd pulled out every trick for this record...including some ripping guitar work!
Meatloaf always considered himself an actor first. In one of his interviews, he said he was a different character in every song.
The man playing the piano is Jim Steinman, who wrote the music and lyrics. Meat always said he always had a character in mind for each song so he told the story of the song.
In a 2003 interview for VH1 Ultimate Albums series, Jim Steinman (1947-2021, RIP) said he was complaining to friend Mimi Kennedy that he couldn’t get a deal. She suggested his songs were too complicated. Just then, Elvis' I Want You, I Need You, I Love You came on the radio & she said, "Why don't you write something simple like that." Steinman went home & “tried so hard” to write a simple song & “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” was the result. He said, “still a twist, but it was my closest to a simple song & one Elvis could have done."
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you at my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream today?
I agree, it is not overly done and I love it. Yet is so beautifully poetic that it does not need to be any more dramatic. He need not scream the song since the lyrics hits your feels strong enough. This song is genius IMO.
Thank you for your lovely comment! 💖 Hope you are having a lovely weekend! 😊 Can't wait to see you tomorrow on my livestream: ua-cam.com/video/wqnYJzLorBk/v-deo.html
You definitely need to checkout out the album title track BAT OUT OF HELL ..The man on piano /Jim Steinman/ wrote all of the songs and Meatloaf just took it beyond where it needed to be
It's Meat Loaf! Not Meatloaf!
I would highly recommend one more Meatloaf song in "For Crying Out Loud". My personal favorite, and sung with such emotion. R.I.P. Meatloaf
Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman had so many incredible hits together…this is probably my favorite.
I think Maggie would be floored by the others hits that Jim Steinman wrote…deep dive required!
many of his songs had an element of snarky cynicism. They hit you different and funny than a lot of music because it's so real and not bubblegum sugar coated.
His voice was amazing and was a legendary live performer. A rock star football player turned broadway showmanship.
Jim Steinman was doing 'meta' before meta was a thing. This was his Magnum Opus and Meat Loaf's intimate connection to the music and his theatric background made this a perfect storm for this entire album. Thanks for giving this some love!
R.I.P. Meat Loaf 🌹
Meat Loaf was a great performer, had a great voice.
Yes what a showman!
Meat Loaf was one of what I call a "generational singer".....you only get one or two in each one...RIP my man....
I've been listening to Meat Loaf since I was six years old, I'm gonna miss him like crazy.
Meatloaf always did put his emotions into his songs. He even showed them in his Rocky Horror performance. It always helped me connect to him. I seen him live and it was one of the best concerts I have eveer been to. He was the show. There are many modern artists who appear to be afraid to do this.
Ive been a Meat Loaf fan from the mid 70's ... and reained so to this day. The Greatest Rock Singer!!!
RIP Meat loaf, we lost a treasure with your passing. I have always been a huge fan, even when everybody under rated your performances. Rest in piece brother, you are missed.
7:43, there he is, ladies and gentlemen, Mr Jim Steinman, the songwriter of all those amazing Meat Loaf songs...
Beautiful sad song...what a voice and performer!
There's a reason no one covers The Loaf's songs. No one could ever do them justice. There are voices as good as--- even a few better than--- Meat Loaf's. But no one could mix the vocal brilliance with his ability to emote the raw emotions. That is why Meatloaf was such a good actor as well.
I have been told I sound like him as a singer, that's being far too generous to me. Your point is so valid
He sounds like he is singing more from the heart than trying to put on a show.
Great lines also in "Objects In the Rear View Miror May Appear Closer Than They Are". Jim Steinman can certainly turn a phrase!!!
I was watching this again and realized no one mentioned that Meat Loaf developed this style of performance which was called Rock-Opera, not just singing the song but performing it.
You should try his power ballad "For Crying Out Loud" next. It's epic.
You just witnessed a rare glimpse of Jim Steinman at the piano. He wrote all the songs for Meatloaf. His best one however was "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler. Check that out for a female dose of that Meatloaf/Steinman sound.
One of the first full songs I ever learned on piano was total eclipse. Loved that song. And Bonnie's voice on it was amazing.
the man to thank for all his song is jim stienman the guy siting next to him st the piano at the end of the video together again in heaven RIP to you both and thx for the music
Being a trained opera singer thought you would see right away Meat Loaf is an actor who is performing each and every song he does as a character he creates in his mind. So, again He performs his songs, not sings them. Meat Loaf is an expert at theater of the mind. Best appreciation of Bat Out of Hell, should be done with a great speaker system turned up to just one notch below ears bleeding, and with eyes closed so as to get the full experience of the performance. Then go back and listen to individual songs at your comfortable volume. I recommend For Crying Out Load, which Meat Loaf himself decribes as the greatest love song ever. I also recommend listening to Hang Cool Teddybear the same way as Bat Out if Hell, then listen to individual songs, particularly I Saw Elvis In Vegas. Great Performance.
21 years ago she left me crying on a city street, still can't let it go.
He said that he "acted" all his songs...you can see it...he's not only an incredible singer but a remarkable actor.
Truly a talented man.
Meatloaf touched so many people in their lives and from the look of your reaction is still doing it. His performances and songs are almost legend and although he is gone will live forever in the minds of the people.
Whats great about this song by the great Meatloaf is that it relates to so many people. RIP legend
The ultimate song about unrequited love.
This is one of the greatest songs in American music history…..perfectly done by a legend…
He and Jim Steinman need to be in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame !!
Coupe DeVille was a high end Cadillac back in the day....
SOMEBODY FINALLY GOT IT. I uabe listened toba lot of peoples reactions to this song. They all focus either on the first part and don't get why he can't love her... Or they hear the second part and think the whole song is about him being told the 2 out of three. But its the fact that he is so broken from the woman he loves leaving him that he feels he can never love anyone else.
Oh my God! Thanks for reacting to this! It made me appreciate it all over again! Gorgeous song. That was the composer on the piano bench with him. Jim Steinman.
Thank you for your lovely comment. Will you be there for my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream tomorrow?
His songs and his singing have always felt personal. Each is about something everyone has experienced in their lives at least once. They're poignant, brilliantly executed and real.
RIP Meat Loaf. Thanks you for the music and your beautiful performances.
I love your reaction and this is my favorite song by Meatloaf. The lyrics are great and such a story in the way he sings it. How crushing to hear I will never love you when you feel like your all in. This is reality in relationships at times and its a rough when you learn it. Meatloaf performs this in such an excellent way. You feel like he has been through this.
Thank you for your lovely comment! 😊💖 Hope to see you TONIGHT: ua-cam.com/video/Bzan_Nmd1wQ/v-deo.html
This song is about a woman who he loved but didn't love him back then later on she comes back and he tells her its too late he doesn't love her anymore. What a story.
I love how you point out techniques he uses, because that's something I know nothing about, so it's really interesting to me how much more a professional is able to hear in his singing.
You are awesome! Thank you for you analysis Dear Lady!
He was so great in concert....
Outstanding description of this video!
This is my favorite Meatloaf song.
Thank you for your lovely comment. 🤗
The girl he is singing this song to is the same girl that left him long ago. He loved her but she killed his ability to love.
Meatloaf always sang very true. He´s not showing off but dramatize and tell the story. So you´re right. No extra "look-mom-what-I-can-do"
"Ain't no coupe DeVille hiding at the bottom of a cracker jack box". One of the best lines ever written
Heaven Can Wait by Meatloaf is a really different style for him, and a great song.
So glad you posted this video and enjoyed it so much! I think you would also enjoy Meatloaf's "Objects in Rearview Mirror may appear Closer than they are."
the lyrics were written by a good friend of him that told once that he rehearsed for that long till meat did the thing, that was in his mind - he is also the pianist on that evening
My ex-wife did the second verse of this song to me almost 40 years ago. I then found somebody infinitely better, and now 30+ plus years later, my life is so much better than it was before.
46 years out of 50 in my life i been a meat loaf fan,it wasnt till today someone pointed out that in this song, hes talking about the same woman the entire song.
He recorded many great performances, but the one that shows off his voice the best, in my opinion, and the one I think you would appreciate the most for its operatic qualities, is For crying Out Loud. It wasn't a single so no video, but the song is worth listening to. It is astonishing.
Ditto!
One of my all time favorite songs. It hurts so much to hear now that both Jim and Meat are gone.
Back in high school, this was the #1 "slow song" at our dances. We were young enough to want and need, but too young to really love. So this song was felt by all of us.
Beautiful review! Meatloaf is and has always been amazing love!
Thank you for your lovely comment. Will you be there for my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream tomorrow?
have no fear Maggie...we all will ALWAYS love you...hugs
Can't wait to see you tonight! ☺️💖
I saw him four times in concert, never wasted a penny
7:19 He says that because of how SHE treated him. Remember the line: "You been so Cold to me I'm crying Icicles instead of Tears." This is a man who laid his heart out to her and had it crushed. It is the polar opposite of "I'll do anything for Love"
The planet needed more music from him.
He wasn't telling a girl this. He was recalling the girl having told this to him. Love your videos, "Hello" from Meatloaf's home town 🤚
This is the first of your reactions I've seen, and I love it. You're carried away by the content and delivery of the song, yet trying your best to critique what's going on. I'll be watching you 👀 Liked, and Subscribed
Welcome! And thank you for your lovely comment! 🤗
As music these last 2 decades declines, Artists from our past begin to look SHINY!
This song is about love given more than received so in the first chorus it’s a girl letting him down he loves her more than she loves him or in case dosen’t love him, cares about him, wants him needs him but won’t ever love him, then later versus he finds himself in the reverse situation so he wants the girls he’s now with, he needs her, but he can’t love her, because he’s in love with the girl who broke his heart in the first verse, it’s somewhere we all been, it’s one of the all time great love songs of love unrequited love! Jim Steinman was an amazing songwriter in an amazing era but was ahead of his time as was Meat Loaf, they didn’t have it easy bringing this to label no originally wanted them, and it was some years later 77 Bat out of Hell was released, one of the greatest albums of all time with songs that will stand the test of time always. Both maybe gone, but will live on forever through this music, I’m glad I grew up with this music, if I could get in a Dorlean and go back to the future tomorrow Id do it in a heartbeat.great reaction Magee, I like the technical aspect, but I love it when I see people feel the lyrics the instrumentals this music meant something it spoke and connected why it stay in the record charts for so long, it took some longer than others to open up to it, again brainwashed by industry vampires and commercialism, this broke the mould as did Meat Loaf as a lead singer. 🤘
Thank you for your lovely comment. Will you be there for my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream tomorrow?
Great job Maggie. That entire night was epic. I loved every minute of it. I look forward to more Meatloaf and more reactions in general. So much fun!
Awesome reaction, hon. RIP Meat and Jim
Meatloaf’s vocal and acting talent were Broadway caliber. His dancing? He’s what you’d call a “double threat”.
So he forged his own “theatrical” musical path. Bat out of Hell was a HUGE hit. Paradise by the Dashboard Light was in every jukebox in every bar in America from 1977 until the early 90s. And someone played it every night.
Something to keep in mind here. This was a live performance under very hot lights. For a man as grossly overweight as he was, this is an amazing feat to perform at this level. His cardiac strength must have been off the chart. He had a beautiful voice, but he was an amazing athlete to pull this off.
Thank you for your comment. Will you be there for my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream tomorrow?
This is what I grew up on.
My favorite thing about meatloaf is every song of his is a self contained rock opera
The Meatloaf had a voice of an Angel…….and He rocked❤️❤️❤️
I’ve said it elsewhere Meatloaf and Jim Steinheim combined were lightning in a bottle….Very special…
This was out when I was in high school. ❤meatloaf! He was a broadway singer turned rock singer! What a performer & talent! He could belt it out! ❤
I am 61. I was newly enlisted in the Air Force in 1980 and was at DLI (Defense Language Institute) in Monterey, CA. The first week there (out of a year of studying Russian) I was introduced to SOO many different musical tastes and artists (Lene Lovich, B-52s, The Motels and everyone had The Cars). But it was my room mate Earl who asked if I heard of MeatLoaf. I said I only knew "Two Out of Three" . So he goes "You got to listen to this" and puts on "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". I was like WTF???!!! It was so freaking great! Of course, I had to buy the album and it's a MASTERPIECE. And those "oh so great" lyrics? The late great Jim Steinman. I think Meatloaf's greatest song is "For Cryin' Out Loud". If you like the Phil Spector wall of sound, Jim Steinman took it to a whole new level with that! The symphony I believe is the Philadelphia Philharmonic and is a 66 piece orchestra!! Hey Maggie, do that one! "For Cryin' Out Loud!"
This song is dear to me, as it reminds me of a story my younger brother told me when I was younger, he said that he was out and about in his car with two childhood friends who were brothers, so they were there people, and then they had a crash and one of them died, and every time I listen to this song I remember that story, and then to make things worse his friend did not die during the crash, but a few days later on Mother's Day. And then there were two, and that is why two out of three ain't bad.....
I forgot he passed, grew up with bat out hell, he will be missed, good response of his song 👌
Maggie, this was your best take on a great song.
