Most of Meatloaf's hits were written by John Steinman. He also wrote the hit, "Total Eclipse of the Heart", a vampire love story. John Steinman also wrote several songs for the rock opera, "Streets of Fire".
Interesting fact about Meatloaf - he was in Dallas the day JFK was shot. He and some friends saw him taken into Parkland Hospital and even had a good look at the limousine Kennedy had been riding in.
As a person with a hearing impairment I can't stress enough how much I appreciate Meat Loaf. Not only does he have a beautiful singing voice but the way he is able to enunciate every word, even when singing fast, makes it so easy to pick up the lyrics on first listening. It usually takes me a few runs through the song and sometimes I need to read the lyrics. That could be why I appreciate songs as a whole before I ever get into what they are trying to say.
When your Dad hadn’t yet met your Mum, he was listening to Radio Dublin 253. This was 79. The preteen lads were playing poker and blackjack. The girls were playing this on repeat. If one of us wanted to ‘get off’ with one of them we needed to know every word. Rathfarnham - Crannagh life ❤️👍🏽👍☘️
Happy Friday, Diane! I'm really not too up on Meatloaf, the singer. I have heard of him outside of his music. He has a decent voice. He definitely sings with a lot of emotion as evidenced in this song. Glad to see that you have enjoyed it. Always a pleasure to see your reactions Diane. Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend and be well! Take care! 👋😎🙏🎉
Jim Steinman (piano) wrote all of the songs on this album. Unfortunately, we lost both of them within a couple of months of each other.😭😭😇😇 I still have this album on vinyl. "I know you're lookin' for a ruby in a mountain of rocks, but there ain't no coupe deVille hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box".
Meat Loaf is my favorite artist. I would've loved seeing him in concert. This came off his Bat Out of Hell album. The whole album is freaking amazing. My favorite from it, and out of all of his music, is For Crying Out Loud. It's amazingly beautiful. This song is so sad. Jim Steinman wrote the majority of Meat's songs. He was a freaking badass songwriter. He also wrote Holding Out for a Hero and Total Eclipse of the Heart for Bonnie Tyler.
If you checked all the cars in my school's parking lot the year I graduated (1979) probably half of them had a copy of Bat Out Of Hell. It was huge. My own favorite is the title song, but really they're all great. One of the few albums I can sing along with every word to every song even today.
Bat Out of Hell was the biggest selling album in US history until it was supplanted by Michael Jackson’s Thriller in 1983. Meat Loaf pretty much disappeared in the ‘80s, then had a huge comeback in the early ‘90s. Great talent, especially when he collaborated with Jim Steinman.
@@LindaC616 Those days could have been either one. For me, I had the rekkid and put it on tapes so the record wouldn't get worn out. Still have that album.
Try listening to Paradise by dashboard light, You took the words right out of my mouth, for crying out loud, heaven can wait, all revved up with no place to go, I would do anything for love.
Meat Loaf was always a sort of common denominator among people my age when I was young. No matter how diverse the musical tastes were at a gathering, mostly everyone would be okay with throwing on Bat Out of Hell.
GREAT VOICE! First time visitor here! Had to when I saw the "thumbnail"! So the Other 5 favorite MEATLOAF songs for me he actually sings on a TED NUGENT album called; FREE FOR ALL. My fave of those is WRITING ON THE WALLS!! A close 2nd is TOGETHER. Well I LOVE YOU SO I TOLD YOU A LIE is pretty good and HAMMER DOWN and STREET RATS!! All great tunes. Hope you have musical peeps to encourage you a listen to these awesome songs. Toppah dee murnnan to ya! Sorry that's all the Irish I know! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Love Meatloaf. Cried my eyes out when he passed and still do. By far my favourite singer EVER. Life is a Lemon is my favourite. And Yes, Meat doesn't just sing, he takes us on a journey.
Back in the day Cracker Jacks placed a little trinket in each of their boxes. When the line in the song "there ain't no Coupe de Ville hiding at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box", the makers of Cracker Jacks placed a Cadillac Coupe de Ville trinket in the bottom of each box as a nod to the song!
If you like Meaty's music then look up information about the late Jim Steinman, the composer who wrote the songs for him. It would also explain the popularity of Bonnie Tyler's _Total Eclipse of the Heart,_ Celine Dion's _It's All Coming Back to Me Now,_ and popular songs recorded by many other performers. Hmm, Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler and Celine Dion ... well, two out of three ain't bad.
he's a legend. I was sad when he passed away from Covid. You have to check out his video & song " Paradise by the Dashboard Light " He's a great showman
I had lived very close to Mr Aday in CT for many years. He had a fabulous family. He really was a good soul. But his anger got the best of him sometimes. But also as a nurse I tried to encourage him to live a more healthy lifestyle. You can lead a horse to water but it’s up to them to drink from the well. I still miss him!
What an amazing talent Meatloaf was............unfortunate how we never seem to really realize until it is too late. An absolute LEGEND. Meatloaf, truly loved, and missed so much. Rest in Peace 😢😢😢❤❤❤❤
Meatloaf's was sort of my jam since I first heard him do Bat Out Of Hell. His music always told some sort of story in a very theatrical way. I saw him live three times with gaps of ten or more years between shows He didn't tour the Canadian Prairies that often. He was also a pretty good actor in more than one film and TV roles. The last time I saw him live was June 17th 2016 in Edmonton, Alberta he was doing his show which was always pretty theatrical. He had cancelled a couple of shows just before this due to health concerns, and there were questions about whether this show would happen. It did, but he didn't look in the best of shape. He was singing "I'd do anything for love" in his usual dramatic manner when he slowly collapsed on stage while singing. At first it was hard to tell if it was part of the performance or if something had happened, as the band kept playing for a bit before band members and crew rushed to his aid. The show immediately ended, and he was taken to hospital overnight. Suffering from a severe case of dehydration. Made the show even more memorable. So, I enjoyed you reaction to this tune.
Hey Kiddo, I remember this song back from 1977, it had a great rotation on fm radio. first I heard of this guy was as Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975. He was good as the blacksmith in The Deadmans Gun tv show. I hope you and Chewie have a good weekend
Listen to the whole album in order, it tells a story. From their first time with each other (Paradise by the Dashboard Lights) onward. Oh if you get the chance to see the Bat Out of Hell musical go see it. Especially if it's the full show and not the cut down version that's in Vegas
Meatloaf was a multi talented person. Not only in his musical carrier but he was in several movies and TV Series. One of my favorites was when he was in an episode of Tales from the Crypt called What's Cookin'. Let's just say there was a part of the episode where his name had had multiple meanings.
My favorite song of his is "For Crying Out Loud" and its his favorite as well. Tell you what the way he sang that really, REALLY got to me emotionally.
There's a reference to his tumultuous childhood in his song "Objects In The Rear View Mirror....". Very poignant song and an often overlooked great one. Worth a listen!!!
For my European friends: the "Coupe Deville" in this lyric refers to what was Cadillac's most popular model when this song came out. Sure, The Cadillac El Dorado was "nicer" (and more expensive) as were the Fleetwood sedans, But the Coupe Deville was THE car people thought of when they thought of Cadillacs in 1977 (I only bring this up as ""coupé de ville" can be inferred as a specific car body style from ANY make.)
I feel as if a part of my youth died when the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being occurred. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades memories.
Just wondering if you have ever seen the movie Rocky Horror Picture Show? Meatloaf has a small but great part that you may also enjoy the craziness of the movie. Although the best way to see RHPS is in a theater with audience participation. Love seeing you find new musical interests, facts and your reactions to things that I have taken for granted for many years.
With his father being so abuse his escape was high school football and later the theatre doing shows like Hair and Rocky Horror Show which he was also in the movie "Rocky Horror Picture Show". This is from the album Bat Out of Hell, with music written by the legendary Jim Steinman (RIP). Wish there was a way to take you by the hand and guide you through the entire album song by song.
Meatloaf has the jams. The whole album Bat out of Hell Jams. It has the song two out of three aint bad on it. the song is kinda on the sad side but still has a good musical sound to it. you took the words right out of my mouth, for crying out loud, all revved up with no place to go are more happier songs.

I remember this song from the late 70's. To this day I still think it is his best, and he had some good ones. Brings back some great memories. MeatLoaf and Jim Steinman had a good run.
I just saw Your video about "Two Out of Three Ain‘t Bad" and it was the first time I ever saw You. I promise I will return soon to another of Your videos, because You did such an amazing comment about Meatloaf (One of my absolute favourites in rock music!) and I would also recommend a comment on "Paradise by the Dashboard Light“ - and I‘m curious to hear, what else You have to say, just loved this one, bye!
This song takes me way back and hits some personal scars. And I love it. But there are definitely more of Meatloaf's songs you need to check out. "Bat out of Hell", and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" come to mind first. As usual, I love your reaction.
Loved your reaction. 'Bat out of Hell' is really an outstanding record on its own merit. I do wonder if you may have missed the juxtaposition of the song. He is in a relationship he will never fulfill to his lovers satisfaction -"but I will never love you" - because he loved a woman long ago who also said she would never love him. Its almost sad the way the tale plays out. He needs and wants his current flame but being burned in the past, he can never love her. Some great Juke Box Poetry. As others have mentioned, there are other tunes worthy of your time. My favorite for an absolute gut wrenching emotional piece is "For Cryin' Out Loud (Dont You Know I Love You)" It is the second longest song on the album, but if you really listen to the lyrics...well. it tears me up every time. 😢 Bat Out Of Hell: Back Into Hell is a sequel to the album that gave us "Two Out Of Three Aint Bad" and yeah....a decade and a half apart. But listened to back to back, they "could" play as a double album. Some cite his maturity on the second album. Its actually the nature of Jim Steinman that matured to a degree. Meat Loaf was always at his peak as a performer.... Listen to 'For Cryin Out Loud ...." and you may see what I mean. Peace.
Yes!!! Not only are listening to one of my all-time favorite Artists, Meatloaf, but you chose my favorite song of his. This is not as easy as it may sound as he has a massive, wonderful discography. "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" is on the first "Bat Out of Hell," album which to me is the perfect record. Not only is every song outstanding but I know them all by heart. I could sing any of them on command which of course never happens, since I sound like two alley cats fighting under a trailer. a perfect follow-up would be "Paradise by the Dashboard Light." I will now watch the video (Yeah, I did this kind of backwards).
meatloafs in another musical movie called feel the motion where he performs a good song called piece of the action. The movie also has singer falco performing rock me amadeus and singer pia zadora singing little bit of heaven. those are good songs too. Pia Zadora is in the movie musical voyage of the rock aliens and she performs some good songs little bit of heaven, you bring out the lover in me, let's dance tonight, real love.
The first verse is him telling a girl he will never love her. But he wants her and needs her and he has found out that those too aren’t bad by them selves and she will learn it too. The second verse is explaining that he gave away his heart to someone years before that told him that she would never love him and that’s how she learned 2 outta 3 ain’t bad. So now it’s just a vicious cycle that keeps playing on into the future.
Born Marvin Lee Aday; September 27, 1947 - January 20, 2022, known professionally as Meat Loaf, was an American singer and actor known for his powerful, wide-ranging voice and theatrical live shows. He is on the list of bestselling music artists.
Jim Steinman wrote many of his songs. He also wrote songs for Bonnie Tyler. He wrote theatrical music including a Broadway show. Meatloaf was perfect to sing his songs.
If you like Meat Loaf, you should check out Bonnie Tyler, a Welsh singer who stylistically is basically Meat Loaf's female counterpart. This is mostly due to the fact that Meat Loaf's songwriter, Jim Steinman had a falling out with him and started writing songs for her, most notably "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "I Need a Hero".
Love this song! Meatloaf was given his name the day he was born by his father! A big baby wrapped in a blanket! 😂 Meatloaf was also the Eddie character in the pop cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show! 🏍💨
I could be wrong, but my perception is that musicians up through the 1980's succeeded because they had tremendous talent. Sometime in the eighties or nineties, marketing and technological help in the studio made more musicians famous because of their looks or celebrity rather than their singing talent. Although of course there continues to be talented singers coming along.
Before recording the Bat Out Of Hell album, Meatloaf sang 5 songs on Ted Nugent's Free For All album. The songs, Writing On The Wall, Street Rats, Together, Hammerdown, and I Love So I Told You A Lie.
Sure who doesn't love "I would do anything for love" also "two out of three ain't bad" is a good tune too. You should check out "Dead ringer for love" featuring Cher x

Most of Meatloaf's hits were written by John Steinman. He also wrote the hit, "Total Eclipse of the Heart", a vampire love story. John Steinman also wrote several songs for the rock opera, "Streets of Fire".
Jim Steinman bud, not John.
@@ythomitnellum
Brain fart on my part. Thanks.
Interesting fact about Meatloaf - he was in Dallas the day JFK was shot. He and some friends saw him taken into Parkland Hospital and even had a good look at the limousine Kennedy had been riding in.
It was the 70s. Just after the revolution this was of the day and a little cheeky.
I'm glad 60 minutes interviewed Meatloaf before he passed. He gave Jim the credit he was due. Their music will still kickstart a Harley!
“I will do anything for love” is a good song.
Phenomenal singer and talented lyricist. He also had good taste in choosing the talents he shared the stage with.
Ditto.
Take care! 👋😎🙏🎉
I always considered Meat Loaf songs as very theatrical Rock Opera. My favorite is Paradise By The Dashboard Light.
Jim Steinman (piano) wrote all of the songs on this album. Unfortunately, we lost both of them within a couple of months of each other.😭😭😇😇
I still have this album on vinyl.
"I know you're lookin' for a ruby in a mountain of rocks,
but there ain't no coupe deVille hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box".
Meatloaf..One of my favorites! Glad you found him.
I really love seeing Meat Loaf Musics. Have a great weekend.
Thank you! You too!
The song "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is a story about a rash promise and he was in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" movie.
Oh! I saw that once at a show 😊
Meat Loaf is my favorite artist.
8 track or cassette? 😅
@@LindaC616 Those days could have been either one. For me, I had the rekkid and put it on tapes so the record wouldn't get worn out. Still have that album.
@josephcote6120 lol, still have a few "rekkids" myself! 😄
MeatLoaf is just an amazing story teller with his music. He is a rare jewel amidst commercial crap. 🤟🍻
You need to follow this up with Paradise by the Dashboard Lights
R.I.P. Mr. Aday. One of my fav groups. Thank you for the music and the memories.
Love Meat Loaf. Great and powerful voice. His song Bat Out of He'll is amazing.
Woah that’s epic! I luv the theatricality
I’ve never heard this song before but he’s a great singer. It’s quite beautiful.
It is right?! 😊
Listen to the whole album in order, it tells a story. From their first time with each other (Paradise by the Dashboard Lights) onward. Oh if you get the chance to see the Bat Out of Hell musical go see it. Especially if it's the full show and not the cut down version that's in Vegas
I've had this CD for 35 years. I've sang along fir 45 yrs. What a CD. Get this and listen to the whole CD.
Cracker jack boxes have a treat inside of them once you consume the main ingredients. It is notorious for being considered a junk prize.
I feel as if a part of my youth died when the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being occurred. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades memories.
Showman and singer. Put on quite a performance back in the day. Paradise by the dashboard lights was another big hit for him.
RIP Meatloaf and Jim Steinman what a duo. You have to do "Paradise by the dashboard light."
We were unplung so we had no distraction so we listen on recordes wich made it more simpler 😊
So true
Brilliant song and sung so well.
"For crying out loud" is quite an experience
If you're wantin' more Meatloaf LOL, check out Patadise by the Dashboard Lights off the same album
He was so under rated, a great artist! Great reaction, I love when you get into the music.
Yes jams!
@@DianeJennings The other songs on the album are the better jams!
I got the nick name little Rick as a kid since my dads named Rickey also. Everyone always wonders why I am called little Rick since I am 5'10" and not little. I would of never thought that would be your nick name. Being organized and clean is a good thing. It's hard to keep a house organized and clean so that's a good trait to have. At work, I keep hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes to wipe the area clean after others have worked at the computer desk. Wipe the desk, switcher source panels, headset/microphone, phone, keyboard and mouse.
Heaven can wait is my favorite Meatloaf song, love your channel
I remember this song from the late 70's. To this day I still think it is his best, and he had some good ones. Brings back some great memories. MeatLoaf and Jim Steinman had a good run.
Meatloaf doesn't just sing, he tells a story.
'67 here my nickname is Kilroy. Yes we Love Meatloaf Beautiful Voice.
He is Soooo amazing. That was my favorite song of his.
My favorite for an absolute gut wrenching emotional piece is "For Cryin' Out Loud (Dont You Know I Love You)"
It is the second longest song on the album, but if you really listen to the lyrics...well. it tears me up every time. 😢
Bat Out Of Hell: Back Into Hell is a sequel to the album that gave us "Two Out Of Three Aint Bad" and yeah....a decade and a half apart.
3:40 he sings like it takes no effort🤩
meatloafs in another musical movie called feel the motion where he performs a good song called piece of the action.
Thats interesting 😊
After seeing the shelves behind you, the nickname Howard makes sense.
Rest in Peace Meat. I recall you mentioned you like light shows, the song Sorrow from Pink Floyd Pulse concert is greatness.
"Paradise by the Dashboard Light" and Rocky Horror Picture Show must be your next listens whether you react or not.
Love Meatloaf. Man that dude could belt out some great tunes. What a voice.
Sure who doesn't love "I would do anything for love" also "two out of three ain't bad" is a good tune too. You should check out "Dead ringer for love" featuring Cher x
😊
From the Bat Out of Hell album. One of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time, period.
