Have you figured out that the girl he talks about from long ago. Is the Woman he is singing to yet?
“Now there is only one girl that I have ever loved. And that was so many years ago. And though I know I never get her out of my heart. SHE NEVER LOVED ME BACK”.

I remember the first time hearing Meatloaf. My family was going tova baseball game in Boston and we stopped to get a bite to eat. They had a jukebox machine at each table and my older sister found Paradise by the Dashboard Light. She thought I would enjoy the baseball part. Anyway, I had to run out and buy the Bat out of Hell album that week and I still have it over 40 years later. Great talent who will be so missed. In my 60s, so many icons of my youth have passed, but left me with great memories and amazing music to still enjoy. Loved your analysis as always, Beth. Thank you.

This is such a beautiful song. I can remember hearing it being played way back and the girls would sit around waiting for some guy to ask us to dance. The lyrics are equally as beautiful.
I had the honour to see him live. He had such a powerful voice which is obvious but seeing him live and how close I was sitting, I could see his body actually shake. He put so so much into his performances. Thank You doing this reaction and a huge Thank You to you, Mr. Aday. It was an honour to be able to see you. First of all Beth is adorable. Second her intro is adorable. That said, I think the reason why he's such an emotional singer is because he struggled for love and respect. His high school football coach gave him that name, and the the stammer I suppose the rest is obvious.
Would love for Beth to try one or two of the following:
    Longpigs: "On and On"
    Bill Withers: "Ain't No Sunshine"
10k Maniacs: What's the Matter Here" or "Like the Weather"
    Bouncing Souls: "Kate is Great"

I watched an interview with Meatloaf, and he claims to be an actor who sings. Apparently he treated every song differently and took a couple of minutes to get into character for every song. I love your comments on this. Meatloaf's performances were rock operas. He was singing this to me and through me, and having been there, I felt I was singing with him to the woman who got out of our bed. "Crying icicles ..." is how I felt, and 50+ years later, I still feel that way. This song is so sad -- heartbreaking really -- and there's so much regret, much the same feeling that I get from Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust."

Beth- you're amazing and watching you enjoy his music and seeing the joy in your face was amazing.
My new favorite vocal coach channel.
Can you please react to George Michael and Queen singing "Somebody to Love" at the Freddy Mercury tribute Concert.

Love your screen personality and ability to help me understand what "magic" I am hearing. I never leave disappointed and, I swear every time I hear that accent and see that smile, I get a new crush on you. Cheers.

Check out Original Sin, Paradise by The Dashboard Light, I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That), Life is a Lemon (And I Want my Money Back), Dead Ringer, and Hot Patootie (from The Rocky Horror Picture Show). “You'll never find gold in a sandy beach.” I'm glad you recognize his trademark.

RIP Meatloaf. I loved your music and as a paranormal investigator myself I really loved how one of my favorite musical artists also participated in my favorite hobby.

1978, 5th Form common room, this LP was on repeat for months. (As was my lust for Ms Cowgill our French teacher). Stonking LP, fabulous track, good times.

I grew up listening to him thanks to having older brothers who introduced me to his music. Watching a VHS tape with Rocky Horror was the first time I put the face to his music🥰 R.I.P. Meat! You will be missed!

I was sad when he passed. I saw his concert. He's a great showman & singer. He even acted a bit on some movies. he will be missed.

At his heart Meatloaf was a stage actor and this really demonstrates that fact.
You are right Beth, a truly great lyric.

Few albums instantly take me back to where I was when I heard first. This one and Kiss Destroyer were played until grooves were smooth.

One of my favourite vocal performances from Meat would have to be Out of the Frying Pan, particularly live. The whole first half of the song is an exercise in restraint - there's this undercurrent of power running through it, but it's all building to the triumphant rise ("Wander down the ancient hallway/Taking the stairs only one at a time") and the massive notes on the repeated "Fire!"s. But then the second half repeats the song but this time he hits it like a freight train, the same thing again but now its urgent, it's loud and the restraint has gone - it's so rushed it skips a verse. The Bat out of Hell II version is great, but the live versions - particularly Cardiff 1993, Toad's Place 1991 and Melbourne 2004 - are exceptional. Great video, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.

I covered this song on my channel the week he passed as a tribute. You did a great job explaining everything and you did it with class, I think Meatloaf would have approved. Thanks Beth (:
