Love you karl
It's good to remove the cartridge every now and then anyway 😜
Don't forgot to give it a complementary blow
😏
the dude got platinum on GoldenEye 007. who knows if he'll go after diamond?
bro he made me delete nintendo 64 from my nintendo 64
Karl Jobst without context: “I optimized things with a single bullet to the head” 😂
truly an underrated quote.
If I'm just gonna die after paying all these bills I figure we might as well skip to the end.
Mind blowing
17:00
Sounds like what hed say after having 1v1 shootout with rod todgers
The speed at which he’s moving when he hits that long shot to the third camera is insane. If you blink, you’ll literally miss him shooting it. Unbelievable run.
This and the oneshot of the fourth camera...with a pistol...through glass ❤
Can the pistol shoot through the glass? Legit question I havent played Goldeneye in over a decade.
@@jayjasespud
Me either :D If someone would have asked me i probably also would have said no, but this video is proof that it works.
@@jayjasespud my recollection is yes from multiplayer back in high school. But that's about 24 years ago now.
That speedrunner Karl Jobst seems like an absolute legend for all those milestones he set. You should talk about him more often.
I hear that guy has his own youtube channel and even he doesn't talk about karl jobst.
They should colab
They would probably become friends
yeah cheating his way to his first record
@@GIJane-nr2xm How many of you bots does Silly Bitchell have, anyway?
That 1 shot on camera 3 is the greatest shot in video game history. It’s a thing of beauty, must have been practiced a million times. I watched it like six times and then a few times in slow Mo.
Actually, the greatest shot in video game history was performed back during the 1993/1994 blockbuster video games championship. But this shot was good too
@@alahatim actually, if you've read Dr. Disrespects book, he won the 1993 championship with a game of mortal Kombat. So no he never" took a shot".
I'm fun at parties.

@@matroid10 ACKSHUALLY ☝️🤓
every time i watch videos of old speedruns im reminded how blessed we are in the doom community to have demo files
Indeed
How do the clips look when you watch ? Does it look exactly like the play through or are they a little bit off?
@@John-Doe-Yo It's not even a "clip". Demos are files full of frame-by-frame instructions for the game to play back. When you watch a demo on any PC with Doom installed, you watch it at 100% speed and visual fidelity.
I agree it's fantastic that old runs are perfectly archived, but imo they lose their feel and emotion to them. Similar to the feeling of how we see old 90s pictures and video camera footage today. With the demo files, there's no way to pin the run to a time period at all. They all simply look the same. Plus you don't get the streamer's overlay or chat or cam reaction etc
@@slothbin well, it's pretty easy to pin them to certain time period just by looking at it.
You see a lot of squeeze glides but they are relatively slow? 2015-18. Zero press and squeeze glides that take only a few seconds to setup? 19+ Intercept overflow on purpose or pink demon void glide not on e1m8? 2023 :)
2:00 ... This is the best part of this channel. I love the deep dive on the history of a speedrun, because it allows someone like me, who has never bothered to speedrun anything, to see how impressive a new record is.
I have the same reaction lol. I just do not understand how people can dedicate SOOOOO MUCH TIME to speedrunning a game! Like it's pretty interesting to see in videos like this obviously, but I just could never be the person to try to speedrun something unless I was paid for it lol- but all these people get is their name on a leaderboard, which in 99% of cases just gets replaced with another name like a year later! I get that nowadays they can make SOME money from streaming n whatnot, but I gotta assume that it's not much, at least not unless you're one of the absolute best at it (and even then I cant imagine there are enough people so into this niche that are willing to constantly watch someone speedrun a game, but hey, could be wrong).
Edit: n I understand that many (most?) just do it literally for the "fun" of speedrunning in general, but my brain just cannot compute how the repetitiveness of speedrunning could ever be seriously "fun", or at least not fun enough to dedicate the hours upon hours upon hours practicing.
@@DatHombre Agreed.
Exactly! Wouldn't have been the same without the explanation of the level and how it used to be done and how it's done now!
I would strongly suggest checking out summoningsalt in that case
Karl does such a good job with explaining the history, I actually said "wow" when Ace hit that third camera.
He really knows how to set up well so the true scale of what happens in the final run really hits. Karl is an absolute legend.
yeah man i actually went "What?" and immediately rewinded (rewound?) the video to see it again... crazy.
Definitely a wide eyes moment.
@@LykosMenon
YES! Scaling up the intensity is a very good skill !
what makes this particularly impressive is that it doesn't rely on rng like most runs do
Yea these are the best because it's pure skill instead of luck.
Karl is such a fucking legend, I love his way of nonchalantly explaining how he changed a strat in a world record 🤣🤣🤣
I also love that he speaks of his record being beaten with happiness.
No anger or bitterness at being beaten, just excitement that speedrunning marches on.
@@EighmyLupin I know!! Just amazing!
Humility/humbleness. It's a good trait to have.
I don't know, it is just speedrunning after all. I know some of the people who cover speedrunning love being dramatic about it. But It's a very small niche subject after all.
I don't say that to be insulting to game speedrunning, I am here after all, so obviously I am interested in it. But in a sort of "hey that's neat good for them" type of way.
But then you watch a Summoning Salt or other people who cover speedrunning video go "This person is the greatest human being in the world! The type we will speak about in legends for eons! He knocked a second off a Mario Bros speedrun!"
Tends to feel very overdramatic, lol. I guess that's part of the video making style or something.
@@EarthboundX Well, Jobst don't exactly shy from throwing superlatives either. It is almost constant barrage of "...the greatest runner/run of all times." But your comment was a bit off-topic and so was my response to you.
The topic was more of how people tend to talk about themselves. No matter how great things Jobst has achieved, although he is really proud, he does not set himself on pedestal but still considers himself on the same level as his peers. Regardless if those peers play games a bit faster than average or not.
14:22 This might be the best "THIS RUN!" Youve made. Normally its us being excited. But this time you really felt excited yourself.
Ryan this-run
Goldeneye speedruns is his home turf so he's completely mind blown over this.
Sadly, for me, it was a perfectly timed "This run" into 30 seconds of You Tube ads.
@@kg39012 and this is why I'm using UA-cam Vanced on Android
I would've thought the word "Perfect" to be an exaggeration, but this is INDEED a perfect run.
The way Ace executed that run was flawless. I don't think that there will ever be a run like this in GoldenEye again.
I love these goldeneye videos because i can almost feel Karl's passion and love for the game. It's also fun hearing him lowkey flex cause he's of course amazing at the game.
Goldeneye is the perfect game to speedrun, in my opinion. The better you are, the better you make James Bond be. I just love the idea he completes his mission, in real life, to infiltrate an enemy base, steal plans/evidence, rescue a hostage all in only 19 seconds and 5 bullets. Truly worthy of 007.
It's funny to think of that and then think about Bond hit himself with grenades to run faster LOL
@@scikoolaid "I have to say 007, in all my years working in MI5, I've never seen some of the techniques you displayed in your latest missions.
You seemed to parse through time looking at your watch, somehow break physics by using your own hand held ordnance against yourself and somehow seem to be immune to anything whilst looking down...
Truly amazing.
How do you do it?"
@@infjmale91 we need terminal montage to make "there's something about golden eye" now
He also has to alert every single guard and blow up the whole base to really be James Bond
The original 007 from any source material from movies to games would get destroyed by speedrunners controlling him in these games.
Guy should be awarded the Tier 0 Speedrun award. He not only managed to produce a run noone has beaten yet, he then went on and lowered that same record.
What an absolute legend!
was literally just thinking that earlier.
Super cool that you were in your own video for Golden Eye speedruns, love that you're a SME on this, brings in so much more authenticity and power to your words of praise:)

The third camera shot is just immaculate. Full throttle, only gas throughout the whole level while taking frame perfect shots - what a run!
Hey Karl, this is a bit of a random comment so please feel free to ignore it but I've been thinking about this for a long time. I'm not really into speedrunning, by that what I mean is I do enjoy video games but I find speedrunning as a concept only vaguely interesting, for me it's more the mechanics and techniques that I find cool - and I know that speedrunning not really something that I'm ever going to get into doing. However, there is something about your videos which absolutely captivates me. The way you tell the story, teach about the history and the mechanics of the game, the way you speak so highly of players, being respectful and humble whenever you talk about anything - honestly I look forward to each and every upload. You make speedrunning so incredibly interesting for me, for games I've played incessantly, for games that have never interested me and even for games I've never heard of. It's always an absolute pleasure to see that you've made a new upload, and I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one since stumbling across your channel. Just wanted to say thank you, and to let you know that your work is so, so appreciated and I hold you in high regard as one of my favourite UA-camrs of all time. I hope your channel continues to grow and that you continue to enjoy doing what you do :) All the best!
Holy cow. You were not exaggerating. It's 19 seconds of perfection. Fantastic video.
Run looks like a TAS, it's inhuman
That's what she said
He didn't even get a good picture of the screen. How is the agency going to know what kind of technology the Russians have?
@@automatedcomment all bond will have to do is run back in for 20 seconds just to check, no biggie
Looks like a counterstrike player using M&K, obscenely clean
2 seconds ahead in a record this old and a run this short is absolutely insane. I cannot even comprehend.
6:06 can we just appreciate how humble Karl is? He broke a ridiculous world record and barely even mentions it or gives himself any credit. I actually almost didn't realize what he said here at first. Wow.
When I heard about this I knew it would only be a matter of hours before I'd hear Karl's famous line, 'achieved... this run.' Thanks for the recap and explanations!
me most of the time: relatively forgettable
me watching a Karl Jobst video: an absolute legend
It's called simping.
Just for that, how about I not forget you? (^-^)
Having played this game i am extremely suspicious about the odds of pulling this off. Hitting a camera at that distance is fucking stupid unlikely and he hits 4 cameras with one shot...
@@milktobo7418 I see what you're saying, and it looks unlikely, but because all four cameras are on the same cycle, you can tell that the third one was possible because of the speed at which he took out the first two and their starting locations.
@@slovnicurling9808 "It's called simping" - Now Debra, don't be bitter.
One day, you might find someone who thinks you're a legend. Maybe.

Those 3rd and 4th camera shots are absurd. Karl it is always a treat to watch you break down Speed running WRs because of your knowledge and love for Speed running
I love how much speed runners respect one another. Watching how much admiration runners have for the skills and techniques of one another is honestly super refreshing.
Rayan Isran is by far one of the most gifted kids out there ever since he was 12 years old and beating most of the levels with a pal game of golden eye and perfect dark as well.
dosent australia use ntsc?
rayan lives in pakistan, so his initial system was a PAL console, now he has an NTSC unit and tearing this game to pieces.
As I recall, when he was running into the limits of PAL the community helped him get an NTSC console.
He apparently has moved to Canada at some point.
@@theremix54 Australia is using PAL as well.

Feel like as soon as Karl covers one major milestone something else happens in the speed running world that forces him back to work, and I must say we all appreciate you!
He's doing a "cover all speedrunning events 100%" run.
Holy, Rayan’s run looks like a TAS! Amazing how far this game has come
Oh shit, Karl’s about to do his own version of speedlore 2:02
Just amazing. Amazing. Thanks for covering this with the history!
Also- I love “the player Ryan white” lol
Only Karl Jobst can make a 17 minute video about 1 second in a video game. I love it.
its honestly impressive
I have to show this video to my girlfriend and mabye she will realize that every second is important ;_;
@@davethefreshmaker Good luck bro.
Thanks for the continue coverage on these speedrunning milestones, events, scandals, etc. It's also a pleasure to watch your work.
I've played this so many times as a kid. There's only a handful of times I was able to drop any camera in one shot at distance, and that was an accident.
Look, I know the market research shows these style video thumbnails bring in the teen youtube views, but you are above this Karl.
Agreed. Thankfully his content does not reflect that disappointing tumbnail.
I love seeing GoldenEye videos on your channel, I started watching you when you only did GoldenEye videos and GoldenEye speedrunning is really fascinating to me despite never playing the game or even owning an N64, I just think the game has very unique speedruns and people
Excellent video, Karl. Always nice to see a video from you in my feed.
Very impressive stuff. I watched goose cover it a few days ago. Do we have actual video footage of his reaction? Seeing that moment where he beat the record would be a sight to behold.
Comparatively speaking, I haven't gamed much in my life, but I have lots of good memories of playing GoldenEye back in the '90s with my sons when they were little kids. Good times. Fascinating video, as always.
went from knowing absolutely nothing about this or its signifigance to getting chills while watching the absolute perfection of a run at the end, so id say job well done
the amount of respect karl has for rayan isran is insane but also wholesome. you can tell he really does mean what he says whenever he says hes the best, theres no denying that rayan is practically perfect when it comes to golden eye. but hearing karl just shower him with praise and compliments is so nice to hear. instead of being bitter about the record being now even more impossible to beat he instead takes the time to say "this is crazy and you all need to see how perfect this is!". karl is very humble and is a great example of great sportsmanship. even when his own records are at stake he will instead ask others to cheer on those attempting to beat his times. its so nice to have this level of positivity to look forward to.
karl knows what it takes to get top tier world records so especially him and also most of the ppl interested in goldeneye has mad respect for perfectace's skills. he is truely a legend.
He’s like the lebron james of golden eye haha I’m not surprised Karl admires him
@kefkapalazzo1 lebron is good, but he's nothing without his team really, there are far better basket ball players in history than lebron could ever be. I would say perfectace is similar to the harlem globetrotters where as hes very VERY skilled, flashy, and always leaving people in amazement with what he can do with what looks like ease.
@@moviemaker2011z this is just ignorance but I’m not a teacher
@kefkapalazzo1 ignorance in what way? No one person is the best on the team, they are all very important to a teams success, that's just a fact. And secondly if you compare lebrons stats with some of the old time greats? Well, he's not exactly THE BEST statistically.

Crazy we are still talking about this game today. I am 32 now.
Now consider that Rayan Isran is about 5 years younger than you....

I remember running Facility on 00 Agent over and over just the unlock the Invincibility cheat. Friends of mine at school used to give me their cartridges to unlock cheats for them. I can't even remember how many times I had to run it initially before I got a route down that was feasible. Either way, this was long before I had heard of the concept of "speedrunning." I guess for me this is the game that really started it all. Another fact that shows how insane this run is: Bunker 1 SA 20 seconds would be the game's second-longest-standing untied WR if Ace didn't achieve 19 seconds. Train 00A 1:48 is the only current WR that has stood untied for longer.
Amazing video. I'm not familiar with GoldenEye, but the context you provided throughout the video made me appreciate how impressive that speedrun is. The way he destroyed the cameras was simply perfect!
Good job portraying just how good this speed run was, I love white goose but here you really made it clear for anyone to appreciate most of what’s going on to anyone, so yeah it does the speed run justice, I wish you call him Perfect Ace tho but that’s just opinion, the video was terrific as most of the ones you do tbh, you really put huge polish to them
I feel so dam proud for you after seeing your head shot technique being implemented at the highest level. I can only imagine how you feel about it on top of all your other contributions.
