- Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp Monster has terrorized the inhabitants of the bayou for more than 30 years. This bipedal monster, also known as the Cajun Sasquatch, with piercing yellow eyes is estimated to stand over two meters tall, and weigh more than 300 pounds. Rumor has it that the beast is a cross between an alligator and a baboon, and terrifying stories are attached to its lore, including children said to have snatched up.
'Boogeymen' takes an in-depth look at the history of local monsters and travels to the small, picturesque towns where they appeared to listen to both believers and skeptics as they investigate the most recent sightings.

Personally I don't believe any of it. The only tangible evidence is a debatable film taken over 50years ago and nothing since. I'd love it to be true but I still watch these videos as I'm more fascinated by the people that go looking for them. As a non American it's a great insight into what goes on.
@@robertpage3195 , my dear friend. I said I do, but in a sarcastic sense. Laughing at North American credulity, in this fantasy, myth. The North American is already born with the DNA of Bigfoot..As I said before, I watch this type of documentary just to have fun and have a lot of laughs. In times of a pandemic, it helps keep your mind active and takes the stress out of everyday life, right.

I'm 68yrs and sold all my valuables I dusted ,hauled back and forth for 50yrs. And then I bought an RV and now live in a Nature preserve in a vast swampland of NWC Fla. I've been here 14yrs presently and one night I had an unknown creature behind my lot on a moonless night . So black you couldn't see your hand held out just a few inches from your face. I came out of the RV with my little old boy to take him out front to walk and do whatever he needed to do. He was acting strange. Kinda scared and confused and not barking at what was standing or sitting just 15 to 20 yards away back in the swamp watching us. I did not see it because it was blacker than black and me without a working flashlight. All I could gather of it was just the sound of it's lungs. These lungs were big and the breathing was such that I got the impression that it was not aggressive towards me and my little of boy hound. But I stopped in my tracks after only 2 steps on the porch because the only sound was this thing breathing. No frogs no insects nothing but those lungs breathing like a human and not an animal. It was not a bear and it was not a barnyard animal . And it was not a wild hog or a deer. I know for certain it was not anything I've been close enough to hear it breath. It was maybe only 15 to 20 yards away. That was the first time and it changed my whole outlook on what I know about the wilderness. NO GOING BACK TO IGNORANCE NOW. It happened and I can't change it even if I wanted to. But now I have the most powerful head lamp you can buy online. And it is kept fully charged too. Always. Now I never go into the swamp without serious protection....Always. I can't tell you what it was but I can tell you what it wasn't . And that's all the known animals in the region. Nobody can convince me it was an animal common to this state.

Honey Island is in Pearl River , La. not New Orleans , I live 7 miles north of honey island swamp and pass thru everyday on My commute to New Orleans to work and it's pretty creepy out there...

I was born n raised in South Louisiana and we have 130 acres along a river. I have seen the markings of a Bigfoot and had half of a tree thrown towards me while walking down our road. Saw footprints and smelled it many many times. I never knew what it was till I moved to Philippines and had time to research things and realized what I saw back all those years was a Bigfoot. I have never gone back to search for it and my family do not believe me but say they still smell it. My brother thinks the smell is is coyotes but if it were they would not sit still while he walks through the woods. They are there but only certain times - not always. God Bless

I have seen one, in Palm Beach county in the early 70's. Went out late at night during a full moon on my horse and something was scaring her on the trail, I caught a glimse of something big with large red eyes, I turned her around so fast and hauled ass back to the barn. Phew, and the smell too.
They are very real! And what you saw was a skunk ape! Florida's species of Bigfoot!! A little smaller than the ones out west but still big 7 to 8 feet tall and the smell from what I hear is awful! I've never one but, I've heard one! Scariest thing you want to hear! Imagine the whooping sound of a ape combined with a roar! I get creeped every time I think about it!

I used to drive to NOLA on I-59 and drove through the Honey Island swamp area from Hattiesburg, MS. I knew of the monster from stories and take a look over the swamp area as I was driving on the freeway. I never saw it of course.

Woody and Ricky holyfield made a cast foot print and did all the those 3 toe tracks. There's nothing out there. I been every inch of those swamps! Im 57 and been in those swamps since i was born.

Absolutely agree. You can't mistake a bear for a humanoid animal. Well if you're a city slicker there's no telling what you might "see" but those folks grew up in that swamp and know all the animals there.

How come nobody hits one with a vehicle we hit every other creature and the occasional human gets hit by a vehicle but no swamp monsters. Hahaha 🤣
For me, the biggest thing that proves there's no such thing as a Bigfoot or any other folklore creature, is that no one's ever found a dead one, or any crap from them, 'cause if all the kill sites they find are truly from those creatures, you'd think they'd find pretty big piles of crap, but all that's found is indistinct footprints and blurry pictures.
They have been hit and reported by drivers! But these guys are massive and move so fast that even getting hit by cars are just taps to them! And most of the time, they are very good at being allusive!! They're apes!!
