    I just wanted a bit of an upgrade to the nicely mod'ed DRZ SM.
    So I picked up a used 2021.
    It was already all done up.
    Due to weather and a few other things. I haven't been able to really crack it open.
    The few times I have been able to pull on it 😮
    It's going to be a fun spring 😈

    I tracked mine and love it! I also ride a 450 SMR, but switch to my SMC for bigger tracks. I upgraded the front caliper to the left SDR one with some race pads and the braking gets even better!

      I bet the 450 rips on the track and would be a dream dedicated track bike! Brake upgrades are scheduled for this winter.. I'm excited!

      Nothing close?? I drive like 2 hours to get to one, another is about 45 minutes but the Road America trip in 2024 will be almost 3:30 for me.. It's worth it for a road trip/camping weekend!!

    Just got through your video, I will say that track riding is my favorite aspect of riding and I love all types of bikes man. I have a 22 SMR450, 23 KX250, 20 SMC-R, 19 Ninja 650 (track), and 09 WR250f. Im not a street rider or let's say I wasn't because I just registered my 690 over the weekend. I hated the street and chose to race for the last couple of years. I think you should get a dedicated track bike and try all platforms if finances allow over your time here while in good health. All the new bikes I buy are track only machines, the SMC was an exception because I decided to really just try and see if this could be a good street bike. It's phenomenal and I don't regret it at all, honestly man get a track bike. It'll make loading easier, it'll make maintenance easier and if you ever change your mind.. just make it street legal. The fairings aren't plastic, you can get bikes with hotbodies fairing which are strong with fiber glass. I'd encourage doing a track bike then treating yourself to that sweet Tuono or V4. Just my 2 cents haha, happy riding bruv!

      Dang you got a garage full! I love the feedback and that's what I have been thinking, one question for you, do you ever feel uncomfortable on a bike you only ride on the track? I only go about 1--3 times per year and (think) I will loose feel for that specific bike, do you exeperience this??

  • @jjohn56
    @jjohn56 10 місяців тому

    It's also a lot cheaper to fix it if you go down. See what that Tuono will cost you if you go down. I'm pretty sure insurance doesn't cover track riding.
    I think keep riding the 690 on the track till you reach its full potential. You will always be faster in the corners than the liter bike guys.

    • @LifeWellRidden
      @LifeWellRidden  9 місяців тому +1

      That is a point I never thought of! You are probbaly right.. just looking at the KTM plastic's and the cost for the Tuono.. I could rebuild an engine just in plastics hahaha

    Couldn't agree more! I ride 690 and a RSV4 Factory for the bigger tracks. Best of both worlds I guess.

    i got the huski version . i can advice you to buy racing brake pads and a brembo 15 mm radial brake cylinder , the brakes will be transformed to insane level bringing you a lot of confidence when on track

    Try to find that balance of power to fun ratio. I've owned/tracked so many different-size motorcycles and I am at the point where I kinda want to go to smaller cc bikes on track cause they are more "fun". I have been tracking a V4R and that is to me the best bike on track but I do not have all the skills for it. I could learn to ride it better but there is that special joy in riding a slower bike fast.

    • @LifeWellRidden
      @LifeWellRidden  9 місяців тому +1

      100% agree, ride a slow bike fast instead of a fast bike slow.. I think I want something a little more "sport bike" to scratch that itch and get me more forward.. Upright is amazing and would never complain about the on-track ability, maybe just something to pepper the straights a bit more.. then again I may be too crazy haha

    Acquistato KTM smc 690 - R anno 2023 dopo aver avuto un modello precedente della stessa moto.
    Davvero un abominio di moto. moto notevolmente nel motore e nella componentistica. Visto l’abominio acquistato ho deciso di modificarla completamente per provare a farla andare correttamente.
    Ho completamente modificato la moto con:
    - Scarico Tekmo completo no cat
    - mappa dedicata
    - filtro aria dna
    - rimozione ricircoli e cannister
    La moto è migliorata ma l'erogazione rimane pessima. Cosa poi che non riesce ad essere modificata è la mancanza del freno motore causa intervento elletronico. Non si ha quindi freno motore e sembra di guidare un 2T. inoltre l’accelerata che viene data ti fa sbagliare i punti di frenata se freni forte.
    La qualità di tutte le plastiche è poi peggiorata tantissimo, ho già i carter del motore tutti segnati ( probabilmente dovuti ad una plastica più scadente ).
    Pessimo acquisto
    NON COMPRATE questa moto se volete un motard

    Have watched plenty of track day videos featuring riders on the 690 and for most decent but not top flight riders the SMC-R is held up on any corner that is under 90 MPH by the sport bikes. Ya, on really long straights the SMC-R will get passed but then it will be waiting to pass those same bikes in the corners. For canyon riding it is hard to beat the SMC-R, well, unless one is on the recently released Duc 698.
    That bike looks great, but time will tell what kind of midrange the 698 has as it has a very short stroke engine and it is smaller than the 690. For sure the 698 is gonna rip on the top end. As it is, the 690, while not 4 cylinder fast, is crazy fast for what it is.
    I have a Rottweiler tuned Yosch can equipped 701 Enduro and the stupid amount of power it makes vs. the 21/18 dual sport wheel setup seems rather inadvisable. I honestly don't know how the bigger KTM ADV bikes can function with tires that have any off road capability at all, over 110 MPH (and still pulling hard) my 701 is sketch AF 😆

    It’s a horrible track bike. It’s not aerodynamic. It’s not fast. It does handle well. It is heavy for what it is. It has a ton of false neutrals. Its maintenance intensive. It has terrible suspension that is NOT fully adjustable - you cannot adjust preload. I can go on.
    Given that you’ve only done 3 track days, I suggest you do more, and develop more skill. This will help you stop lying to yourself.

      You make very good points there that I can’t argue, I love the damn bike because it is fun but I think I need to get a dedicated bike for the track, what bike do you ride out there??

    Whats the difference between the rottweiler filter and a dna filter? Bcause of the 300euro price difference

    • @LifeWellRidden
      @LifeWellRidden  10 місяців тому +1

      I am not sure.. I dont have any experience with the DNA filter but I would assume availability/support. With Rottweiler in the US (Where I am) and their incredible support, I stick with them. Especially for performance parts, bling I would order from anywhere!

    I have try to get the hang of the quick shifter and it’s fells like a hit and miss some times it works some times it doesn’t is there a specific rpm or gears it works on ?

    • @Muistone
      @Muistone 11 місяців тому +1

      If I remember correctly smcr(if you mean this bike) manual says 1st to 2nd should be clutched and 2nd-6th can be quickshifted. Its recommended to have engine pull on when using quickshifter up and for blipper/quickshifter down should be used on enginebrake. Smcr is know for false neutrals between 5th and 6th gear, some people suggest getting the Zeta shiftlever. For me personally, adjusting the lever position down a little and changing the powerparts lever head which is bigger than original helped a ton on false neutrals :)

    • @arisonvasquez2902
      @arisonvasquez2902 10 місяців тому

      They recalibrate it at dealer for perfect shifting.. manuals says for better uss try hitting high enough rpms to go up

    • @LifeWellRidden
      @LifeWellRidden  10 місяців тому

      I agree with everyone! 1-2 is clutch while 2-6 can be quickshift, down its the same but no gas, just coasting. I've noticed that its very common and the best solution is confidence and strenght with your shifts, shift HARD! haha

    • @796andy2
