Win or lose, the supermoto would probably be more fun for most people.
Amen
No bike will find your inner hooligan like a supermoto.
Yes it's a feeling I chase not lap time. I don't own a supermoto but i'll take it over a 1000rr
It's more manageable on the road, but sometimes you feel like you could go way faster and the bike won't take you there.
@@UA-cam_Globetrotter If I had to keep it, I'd take 5K dirt bike over a sport bike in literally any price category. Sticking to the road and riding at high speeds are just immensely dull, boring concepts.
You are a great rider. That was an absolute joy to watch. Cannot state how impressed I am. Kudos!!
"Cannot state how impressed I am" is a statement of how impressed you were
Not sure why you cannot accept that I AM impressed that he IS a great rider. You can seek therapy. @@dangoesfast
@@dangoesfastnope because it an understatement
Can you tell me how impressed I am?@@dangoesfast
You definitely feel the 100kg difference in the curves :)
And the skills
Well, this shows exactly what I see when I ride out on the very curvy mountain roads of my area together with other bikers.
I own four different bikes all Yamahas. One MT-3 old version 660cc single with 183kg, one Bulldog V2 1100cc with 250kg, one MT-01 V2 1700cc with 265kg and a XV 1900cc also a V2 with 340kg. The heavier the bike, the lover is the speed in the middle of the curve. But the larger engines have a better acceleration due to the higher torque.
So, in the end of the day only the skills of the rider make the difference. A very skilled rider on a low hp bike can outperform any medium skilled biker on a high end racing bike if only the road has enough curves. If there are enough straight lines the racers can only be faster on a race track. On public roads the speed limit prevents that.
Summery: On public roads you can easy cope with about 90% of all the others, even you ride just a lightweight low hp bike. If you want to ride just for the fun of it, no need to invest a lot of $ in a high end racing bike.
I’ve never seen more confused Aprilia and Triumph riders than when I left them all on a parallel twin 600cc Yamaha during a group ride here in the twisties of Western NC.
…Except for the time I smoked my brother-in-law on his R1100R while riding a 600cc Honda Silverwing scooter. 😂
@@FilosophicalPharmer
Good one.
YAMAHA = “You And Me Are Hauling A**.” 😂👍🏼
This is on Streets of Willow; on Big Willow the SM wouldn’t even be close, on Horse Thief Mile, the SM would check out. Track layout makes a huge difference.
Absolutely... this video is purposely trying to deceive.
no way, the bike that's faster in a straight line is faster on straight lines and the bike that's faster in the curves is faster in the curves!!!
@@friendlysnoworb6091depends on how many turns and how long the straights are I guess
I was in a race in 1978 it was the annual AFM six hour endurance race that year it rain five out of 6 hours a Can-Am 250 dirtbike came in second .it doesn’t necessarily mean if you have 1000 cc that you’re gonna beat that little 250. I’ve seen Bob Endicott in the unlimited class in a 10 lap race He cleaned everybody’s clock at the end of the race, he was a half a lap ahead of everybody else .
Facts! Back in olden times, I think it was 2008, when the AMA raced at Sonoma Raceway (then called Infineon Raceway) on the north end of the Bay Area, Jake Zemke's 600cc FX pole position lap was good enough for P6 on the Superbike grid. That's how much track layout matters. That could NEVER happen at Big Willow or Daytona or Utah. There's a reason SuperMoto races on kart tracks and superbikes... don't.
Really just depends on the type of track. Smaller technical coarses with lots of sharp corners, then yes. Larger sweeping coarses with a long straight away then hell no
Exactly!
Not to mention the rider
I love it , I ride a 690 KTM and do track days on it and it gives the sport bikes a fit, so funny and then when they find out iam 66 years old it’s even better. Keep the rubber side down brother.
Same here mate, I'm 63 soon, ride Duke 690, the look on the young bloke's face's when I take off my skid lid is rewarding.
Caro nonno Pasquale mi piacerebbe fare una gara con te nel circuito di monza mettendo in palio tutte le nostre proprietà al vincitore
Respect man. Iam from russia and we have no absolutely any life in culture after 40-50, so now i am located in serbia and enjoying when i see how the old peoples still keep active and feeling alive. Its gifting the hope to next day and healing my heart. Thanks to you all @@riccicrozzie8204
: D that's awesome!!!
63 and my speed triples been gathering dust since I got the smcr
So good! Amazing riding bro... the braking and mid corner speed on that thing is unbelievable. What an eye opener! Thanks for sharing.
You earned a new sub.. 🤟
This was such a joy to watch. loved how you really turned it up second last lap. Brings me back to racing and tracking my 450SMR. Does not seem even physically possible how fast they can corner. Of course you are a VERY skilled rider.
A lot of riders underestimate Sumos and Trail Bikes. I've mainly ridden big Trailies with road tyres, and on rides out have never been left behind. The only bikes I could never keep up with were 600s with an experienced rider. I'm a bit long in the tooth now for brains out riding although I'm seriously considering becoming a born again biker and getting a KTM Sumo, Wife permitting.
That's one of the reasons i enjoyed my old KTM so much. Living right in the middle of the austrian alps many sportbike riders would underestimate your little "underpowered" bike until the twisties begin.
Switched to something more civilized (Buell XB12) because of an engine failure and the rising risk of my riding style (drifting into corners and wheelies out of them). Never underestimate these little wheelie machines on mountain roads!
My wife said it was either her or motorcycles.
Boy, am I gonna miss her!
@@dusty111 same here, before it got stolen I've had the 64bhp, 2014 690 smcr with full titanium akra and few bits and pieces and dynoed at 69 (nice) WHP!. 34k km, never any failures, only sipping some oil. On twisty Irish roads this was the best and by far the fastest bike I've ever owned and I was very, very good with my K6 gixer 600. All the big bike boys from Dublin Island Riders were getting a weekly spanking on Mondelo and Wicklow roads :)
@@Dave-ng7ee i never thought of Ireland as a motorcycle country because in my head Britain and Ireland are more or less rain only. On the other hand, the isle of man is near you
@@dusty111Motorcycles still work in the rain, you know. And high wind, fog, hail, and even snow!
Those who ride throughout winter in the UK don't have that dangerous period of re-familiarisation which the fair weather-only riders require in spring after their four- to six-month layoff.
that is cool.. love that the SM is awesome in the corners, they both look like pretty dang good riders
This looks like a ton of fun! Sounds like you had a blast as well. Your tires had to have one hell of a work out lol. Cheers Mate!
I wish I could see your PB, cause I'm loving the lines 😍. great video, looking forward to more!.💪
Super impressive. The amount of lean angle and grip a SM has in corners is insane. I still miss my Aprila SVX. But it's better this way. I won't die jong. LOL😂.
That was fun to watch, thanks for posting. I'm a motard fanatic but used to love racing sports bike. Either way it's great 😁
Bro you helped me fall asleep again, so soothing and smooth. Great ride, man.
Best track day video I've ever seen , thank you !
That was some epic riding. Great video!
great quality man! this is the good type of POV
That was a fun ride! Thanks for taking us along...
That was some good ridin! Thanks for the ride!
Fantastic footage and riding! May I ask, what camera are you using?
Wow, you really brought it to the sportbike guys,, that was some amazing riding!!
Tremendous riding and video, literally brought tears to my eyes. I've only ever ridden supermotos, but never at the track. I've got my 500exc for sale now since I was going to switch to just an R6 for almost exclusively track use, but this video might've convinced me to not give up on the 500 yet. The feeling of going around the outside of a way quicker bike is like nothing else. What top speed are you hitting with what gearing? I would imagine you're not running stock gearing on that FS.
Talk about wringing a bikes neck. Jesus.
Hats off mate that was some ride
Other than the awesome riding, the vast open space and the sky that you can see as far as the horizon is somewhere I ought to take myself and the bike to. The daily cramped workspace makes me miss the outside world.
Awesome! We all love to see the underdog come out on top!
mate - your riding skills and confidence are nuts! Hat off, sir, hat off ... 👍👍👍👍
Killin it bro💯
This is awesome! It's wild how much faster in the corners you are. I get the weight difference but does it make it faster being taller? Having the center of gravity being further from the contact point on the road have anything to do with it? Like is the SM more planted in the corner?
this was an epic series of fantastics laps!!
amazing
The most epic friend battle I’ve ever watch on board. Amazing!! I love supermoto
some great riding done well to keep that pace nice work
Great job. Impressive riding brother.
Excellent riding on the Katoom! Now to be fair, it’s time to see the S1000RR on a Sumo track! 👍🏼😁
what camera was used to record this? it looks so good.
Awesome video also Awesome ridi g skills 👏👏
that was amazing to watch, need to get you into a motogp race with that ;)
As the old maxim says... 'It ain't what you got, it's what you do with it that counts!' 😎
It's about which is the most fun to ride on a personal level, I've a Supamoto and love it, but whatever you ride stay safe and just enjoy.
As always. It depends on the track. My 650 used to keep up with the litre bikes around the tighter tracks. But the ones with the long straights and sweeping corners were the big bikes dream.
Its like a good togue race ! the ae86 vs the skyrine! love it!
That’s some awesome riding! I was leaning with every corner LOL
You should get some clip ons it makes cornering so much better. Or a set of handle bars you can invert easily. It will help lower your center of gravity and puts your weight further forward.
Do you think a supermoto is a worth it buy? I’ve been debating getting one to add to my current stable, 2023 Z H2 SE, 2023 Sportster S and 2023 TNT135. And would you rec the KTM 690 over the Duc 698?
The Willow Springs Streets track is very tight and technical. There are only a couple of places where the RR's power will do anything for you. The SM rider is really good, though.
Your skill on the track is unbelievable!!!!
What bike is this?
I had an Aprilia sxv5.5 in full supermoto kit with a handful of trick bits back in the day and in everyday use it was a super bike killer 100% of the time.
I always wondered if it could of done the same on the Track...
*Nice video man!*
Yes track layout plays a part but there's also a pretty big talent disparity between the rider on the SM and the rider on the RR.
I had a APRILIA 550 SXV stage 3 tune dyno'ed OVER 70 HP at rear wheel sickest fastest machine EVER could do things with ease that I just couldn't on my NINJA 600 love seeing you go out and prove what I've been trying to say for a long time 👍nice ride
Making short work of all the big bikes in the corners 🙌🔥
I see you two are duking it out at Willow Springs racetrack it looks like . Been here a few times myself . 😎👍👍
Streets of Willow. Loved racing that track. You should have challenged the S1KRR at Horse Thief! Loved racing HT on mr SM!
Is that you with the 65hp dirt bike @IamCarsonn?? If so, you are fucking awesome! 👍
awesome video, definitely looks like you were holding back so as to get some good following footage. Most impressive is that you could swap the wheels and you could go enduro riding with your buddies. I'm guessing most of those bikes you overtook were probably dedicated track bikes that aren't even road registered. This track was also pretty fast with long straights. Get on a tighter track, or even better on a 690 supermoto and a lot more egos would be crushed.
Looks like Willow Springs but one of the short tracks. Move over to the big boy track and see what happens.
This quality 🫶🏼
Loving this! Did something similar myself recently on my channel with my 765RS chasing my mate on his GSXR1000R .
Again, just shows, it's not all about power and I know exactly how much fun you're having!!! What a scream to ride!
Nice riding mate it's all about the fun! . 👍😎👌😁
i subbed 👍
Arrrrrh the corners, great riding !
pretty sick - streets of willow is one of my fav tracks
This was awesome to watch.
Imagine he had a Husaberg FS650 …. great Riding !
Both have it's own advantages, and this video explains it. I love this race
Is that a 500 or a 450 and what gearing do you run?
Great video, i know it is not that important on a supermoto, but what is the top speed of your fs 450? It looks that even on the straights you have not so much to lose on the sportbike
Somewhere around 105-110mph
A joy for the eyes.. my compliments
Balls of steel 🤣. Well done 👍
What a great battle
Great Video ...Great riders can do great things!!!!! Your Boy #TraxStarz
Rockin that 450 smr bro!!
Wringing that sumo’s neck! Glad to see you back on the Tube my man, shredding as always 👏👏👏
I remember spending an entertaining afternoon a few years ago as a spectator at Bouley Bay hillclimb on the island of Jersey. A tight and steep hillclimb. Second fasted bike time of the day was a guy on a 650cc supermoto. Fastest time of the day was the same guy, on his 400cc supermoto. On a fast open circuit like Monza, a litre class sports bike would win, by a long way. The tighter and more technical, the more the supermoto comes into play.
That was sick to watch❤
that’s very interesting and superb rider 🙌🏽🧿
That is pretty sick!!! Is that a 701, 450 or what on the SuperMoto?
SMR 450
Wow! I just bought a RC390 race prepped bike for track days. Maybe I should have just put SM wheels & tires on my 350 EXC-F!
good fun, where can i see the footage from the back of the BMW?
Where did you get that steering damper?
wow.. that was some riding.. 👍👍👍
Awesome man ;) And nice "on the spot" comparison !
Bad asss!! Nice riding.
Boy you made some Sportbike rider cry big tears. I knew the supermoto would be quick, but not that quick. Super impressed with your skills. My first 20 years of riding was on a motocrosser. I’m 68 and riding a Sportbike at present. Can’t tell how much it makes want a supermoto after witnessing this.
What bike is it? My old xr650r would've gave it a run I used to frequently show my m8s up in the corners on their 750s my supermoto wheels had no chicken strips that's for sure 😂
Excellent video and very relevant. Or course skill matters, for the same rider, when it's straight, power wins out; when it's twisty, maneuverability wins out. Applies to any kind of craft. Here's the thing--isn't it the turns that make it fun?
Going from 100 kmph to 250 kmph in few seconds is very much fun too ;- )
even though the operator has smaller displacement bike, the entry into the corner seems later and catching up to the much faster bikes when they rip but slam on the brakes in the turn. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast?
Nice riding, great lines and somehow you stayed off the rev limiter (mostly).
What a beast to keep up with that 1000 in corners obviously he is out on the straights but u constantly catch him which imo in pretty insane
LOL! Can you not see the sporties weren't pushing anything? This was a general riding session, not a race. The SM guy was the only one who decided to fake race a bunch of people riding a general session.
whats the tyre profile
Great riding 👌
This is way closer than I was expecting.
What supermoto you riding?
As you could see, it depends on who is riding. The guy on the green bike got away from him so that he just couldn't catch up to the end. Talking about whether supermoto or superbike is faster is irrelevant. Supermoto is made for fun and its setup is somewhere else than superbike. If you put your peers against each other, the superbike will win every time. Unless you're racing on a go-kart track.
Also helps to alert the other riders that he was going to fake race them. This was clearly a general riding session, everyone was just out there relaxing and enjoying their ride, not racing. Well, except for SM guy... LOL!
What are the camera settings?
ahhh... difficult subject. youre lighter, youll outbrake and outmaneuver them in turns, but get eaten on straighs.. but you have some skills man, thas some riding! Loved it.
Depends upon the track and riders
8:25 ... wow, that long white cloud! What country is this track located in?
The track is the Streets of Willow Springs, located at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California.
I hope to test this theory on the 698 Hyper on track too
Makes sense but still insane 😂
In other words, Carson is just HIM.
If we take the 2nd to last lap as an example, which its most likely his fastest lap around the course and you have good knowledge and understanding about how to handle a bike (in this case the supermoto) then you will see how i could shave off easy 2-3 seconds at bare minimum.
❤I DONT HAVE ANY BAD INTENSIONS ON THE DRIVER AND DONT WANT TO BE RUDE OR INSULT HIM IN ANY WAY!❤
He got great driving skill for sure, but there are some fatal mistakes in relation to driving line, break points and small hick-ups in the handling department (like the rear wheel locks while braking before corner entry f.e.)
Would be awesome as well if we had time's shown but i am pretty sure the camera-bike has the faster laps overall and i also think that the superbike drivers dont ride as long or dont habe the same expirience as this driver.
All in all great video! Be safe out there big boy❤
