Back in the day, "back door man" referred to a side man sneaking out the back door, while the main man was coming in the front. Wouldn't exactly refer to this purely sexual song as "wholesome". Zep are rock ROYALTY, 4 of the greatest musicians to ever grace the planet. HUGE, diverse catalog, hit after hit. Thanks for your reaction.
@@jamesrowe3606 LOL, you may be right, friend! Lexicons evolve & mutate, to reflect emerging perceptions. Dictionaries have to be CONSTANTLY updated, you know? Thanks for your reply.
Ok. You asked for it. I am that 69 year old man tapping on your shoulder,,, about time you got here kid. Don't ever let me hear you call a rapper an "artist" ever again or I'll be back. Oh ya,,, I will be back.for you!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody use the word wholesome and LED ZEPPELIN in the same sentence! 😆 A little background, this band were the pioneers of the famous, crazy, outrageous, sex, drugs and Rock and Roll, Rockstar lifestyle that you hear stories about. It was even called ZEPPELINIZING. Destroying hotels, cocaine all the time, teenage groupies, you name it, they did it. Super Famous for it! The drummer was nicknamed the Beast by the band because he was a notorious, mean and destructive drunk. Super nice when sober. They even wouldn’t tell him their hotel room numbers so he wouldn’t show up drunk and start destroying the place. These guys were insane. Took over entire floors of the hotels they stayed in and then anything goes! Especially in L.A., it was their playground. A famous hotel they liked was the Continental Hyatt House which they always tried to stay in. It got nicknamed the Continental Riot House because of them. They payed for all the damage they ever did but some places didn’t want them back. The Riot House was welcoming. Ha Ha!
The back door reference is "wifes husband goes to work through the front door and her lover comes in through the back door" so he's a back door man! 😊 its an old fashioned blues term.
We didn’t faint we dropped our panties🤣🤣 Best freaking rock band of the 70’s Robert Plant lead singer, harmonica and guitar. Jimmy Page guitar player, mandolin, Arranger and producer, John Paul Jones aka JPJ or Jonsey bass player and keyboard player and John Bonham aka Bonzo R.I.P drummer. These are the rock gods of my youth.😎
@@17losttrout he was primarily the front man for led but yes Robert also plays guitar. He and Jimmy often practiced together when writing songs along with JPJ.
If you're going to dive into Led Zeppelin, might as well get to know the names of these four exceptionally gifted musicians (also included their ages when they recorded this song). Jimmy Page (age 25) - guitarist/band founder/production genius John Paul Jones (age 23) - keys/bass/multi-instrumentalist John Bonham (age 21) - monster drummer/percussionist Robert Plant (age 20) - vocalist/lyricist/instrumentalist While I get that watching Zeppelin live is fabulous, there is actually relatively little video (more audio) available, so please consider listening to studio versions, otherwise you'll miss out on a lot of excellent music because they didn't perform all of their songs live. Not only that, you'll hear just how much of a genius Page was in the studio, Jones as well. Lastly, the guys loved to improvise when they performed live. To understand and appreciate just how incredible that was, one first needs to hear the studio cut. In fact, if you're considering doing a "deep" dive, I'd recommend starting with album 1, track 1 and just keep on going. When footage of them performing a particular song is available, do both to get the full effect. I've seen a lot of reactors new to Led Zeppelin start off by taking recommendations just to decide after a half-dozen songs that they want to hear the entire catalogue, thus they end up backtracking to album I. Might as well do that from the get-go. Just a suggestion, of course. ;)
Do their cover of a true story about the floods of 1927 Mississippi called "When the Levee Breaks" - that is BLUES!!! Robert singing and wailing on the harmonica, John making drum recording history with his recording of the beat in the entryway hall of Hedley Grange - too good!
Like many British bands of the era, Led Zeppelin were steeped in American Blues, but they took that influence in a heavier direction than most of their peers, creating a powerful, stomping sound that also incorporated elements of British Folk, Psychedelia, Soul, Reggae, and Celtic and Arabic music.
Bongos? That would be Bonzo- drummer and percussionist John Bonham. As to your next Zep tune, that would depend on what genre you want to check out. Blues Rock- Since I've Been Loving You Live MSG, NYC, 1973. Funk Rock- Trampled Under Foot, Live Earls Court, 1975. Deep Blues- In My Time of Dying, Live Earls Court, 1975 OR Celebration Day, London O2, 2007. Enjoy! Peace, love and bellbottoms from Canada.
Myself being an old folk, once you told me you’re listening to the Zeppelin, I wouldn’t need to know which song in order to say that you’re listening to good music. LZ doesn’t have a bad song in their entire catalog. I saw them live in ‘73, Vancouver, BC, CA. My friends & I drove 8 hrs and because back then there was never assigned seating, we camped out in line another 36 hrs. I was 16.
Back in the 70's we didn't have Social Media, Internet, Mobile Phones..... Led Zeppelin are one of the best-selling music artists of all time; their total record sales are estimated to be between 200 and 300 million units worldwide. They achieved eight consecutive UK number-one albums and six number-one albums on the US Billboard 200, with five of their albums certified Diamond in the US
In 'Since I've Been Loving You', one line from Plant is "Open my front door, hear my back door slam". 'Backdoor Man' is an old term for the side dude a wife or gf had. I saw another reaction video where the reactor couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that 'ramble' originally meant (and still means) to PHYSICALLY wander. You mentioned the bongos, that's the drummer, John Bonham. To really understand his prowess, watch the live version of Moby Dick! 15 minute drum solo that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time!! Haha.
This was considered seriously risqué back in the day.
"BACK DOOR MAN" back in the day, meant visiting when the husband was at work.... Today it has another meaning 😂
Don't EVER compare ANY rapper to LZ , They don't have even have anywhere near the talent LZ does. LZ are Rock Gods!

just start with Led Zeppelin's first album Led Zeppelin 1 and just work through it it's all amazing
