Very infiormative and the first video I have seen to date explaining symtomatic differences between methane and hydrogen dominant SIBO. As always I am amazed by helpful doctors are online and how little that is reflected with doctors in surgeries who have no time to give this kind of advice and are frankly not much interested in what they consider to be minor illnesses. One docto actually rsaid to me straight "stomach disorder? most of my patients have more serious things to be worried about you know, like cancer." I still think that most people who talk about health are hugely over optimistic about the level of health care around the world. I have suffered from stomach disorders for over 30 years now the last 20 years of my life has been mroe or les spersistent watery stool or outright diorrhea and no doctor health practitioner or dietician I have gone to see has really helped or even been very interested. Practically all the improvement I have experienced has been the last 15 years thanks to what I have learned from the internet. It began 15 years ago with a Doctor Mercola talking about gluten. At the time I had not even heard of gluten.
Really great informative video! Thank you!! :) I'm also really interested in d-lactic acidosis caused by sibo...could you talk about that maybe someday too? :)
I love what you do so much, each video brings so much knowledge and insights, any chance we could get insights from you regarding H2S overgrowth or in general what to do with patients who just can't tolerate sulfur and thiols since they get really symptomatic from those?
yes! Lots here to unpack. This is a relatively common presentation and it can get complicated quickly. Do you prefer quick overviews or long deep dives into subjects?
@@ByronHerbalist Personally as deep as possible with as much info/tips would be so appreciated, anything like diet and the debate on thiols vs sulfur for driving symptoms and which to avoid of the 2, approaches, supplements, anything really, it is so so hard to balance this, so yeah your take on it would be invaluable.
Hello Dr Byron! You mentioned not mixing Berberine, did you mean not to mix it with the first supplements listed (Pomegranate Husk, Ginger root, and Clove)? Just clarifying. Thank you!
yup alkaloids and tannins don't mix in tincture (liquid) form as they precipitate out of solution. Mainly massive amounts of berberine and things like clove, pomegranate husk etc.
When i still was undiagnosed, something that helped was ginger, anything bitter like wormwood tea, artemisia and ip6, also ibuprofen and fasting, no food for 24 hours. After having diarrhoea, gas and bloating for 2 years, now i have gastro paresis and more constipation and vomiting and lots of pain after eating because the stomach doesnt work properly anymore.
Thank you! I have low methane, high hydrogen, BUT my motility is super slow. I take the artichoke and ginger extracts and move daily but am still very delayed. Why are my symptoms more in line with methane despite the testing showing the opposite?
Another great video thank you. Can you please also do a video on herbs for hydrogen sulfide sibo? Could you also please tell us if pomegranate husk/peel capsules would be effective because most countries do not sell the tincture? Also is a thyme leaf tincture worth considering if your not able to get a oregano leaf tincture in your country? Thank you
love the feedback! I will add H2S to the list. Pomegranate peel is fantastic for most. There are caveats and it can cause constipation in some but is generally well tolerated. Thyme is a great substitute for oregano most times too.
Hi Bryon, I got high hydrogen levels on breath test but with severe constipation not diarrhea and always bloated and gassy, do you know what does that mean please?
This is an unusual presentation but still happens. I would recommend a patient presenting like this to actively treat the overgrowth and keep other possible root causes (fungal?) in mind too!
Hi Byron. Great video, I just subsribed to the channel. I think I have PI-IBS (D) after a course of antibiotics. Things did not improve even after taking normal broad specru probiotis and now I think I have Hydrogen SIBO (mild). I do not have man classic symptoms yet, but the occasional loose stool along with delayed apetite are two issues that is persistant. Do you think the herbal tannins route is better for me to take or should I go down the alkaloid path directly? I should mention that the only probiotic capsule I take is S.Boulardii (Florastor)
Would it be a good idea to use a binder before introducing a herb into the gut to induce killing of pathogens to bind up the debris or is this necessary?
Binders can be helpful as an optional addition. I don't start with them to avoid complications and expense but have been turning to them more and more when needed. I've got a mycotoxin binder video in the works. should be up within a month or so!
BIG question, please: my wife suffers because of bloating, life is miserable. She does not get diarrhea that bad. in the morning her stomach gets flat like nothing happened, and in the evening disastrous bloating again. The very worst is when the weather is humid ( we moved out of Florida for that reason). She removed her ovary and uterus because of the suffering thinking she has OHSS, and bloating is a sign of it, the doctor want to help my wife and finally agreed on surgery, she did it last month. The problem is still there; messed up situation. Why humid weather makes it worse? please.
I'm have the same issue!I'm glade I started doing my own research on this!Every 3 -6 month I have an pancreatitis flare up!I wake most mourning fine or with a flat belly !If it's hot around 90 degrees, as soon as I eat something ,ten minutes later I'm in the bathroom in pain and it loose stool! This has been going on for 5 -7 years and I got fed up an called my doctor for more test!Thank you for this info and channel! So I just drink fluids while it hot but once the sun goes down I eat light foods !This video gave me hope!I'm also vegan!
I had an infection they gave me metronidazole but if it happens again I'm going to have the check for hepatitis b and c!I'm glade she is feeling and doing well!I'm a man lol I doubt it's the ovary!
Would juicing pomegranate mixed with other fruits/veggies and ginger be at least somewhat effective? 8 yr old dtr had dual + SIBO but is thankfully far along in her healing and recovery - just see signs with some foods that signal we still have some work to do on the dysbiosis.
@@ferlem.8998 I have found my reason. I was histamine intolerant. Old meat caused me bloating. You have to do some elimination diet to see what causes the bloating. Life without bloating is amazing!!!

Thank you! I have low methane, high hydrogen, BUT my motility is super slow. I take the artichoke and ginger extracts and move daily but am still very delayed. Why are my symptoms more in line with methane despite the testing showing the opposite?
Slow motility can be a major root cause for hydrogen SIBO too. If you’ve had food poisoning before that may have been the root cause!
Would Oregano tea work?
You can but I'll bet you only try it once lol better to take powder capsules or gelatin as very strong
