  • Learn all about Histamine Intolerance, which can cause a wide range of symptoms throughout your body. Learn the mechanism of histamine buildup in the body, and all about the DAO enzyme made in the gut microbiome, which normally breaks down histamines. What foods can cause symptoms in Histamine Intolerance? Learn why DAO levels can be impacted by an unhealthy gut microbiome in SIBO, Dysbiosis, or Leaky Gut. Learn about the gold standard of diagnosing Histamine Intolerance. In this video, Dr. Rajsree Nambudripad, MD reviews how to manage symptoms with a low-histamine diet and supplements that are cofactors for the DAO enzyme. She explains how healing the gut is the key to restoring your DAO enzyme and treating Histamine Intolerance.

It’s called medical gaslighting. “You must be imagining it, or you must be crazy.” Doc spends 5 minutes with you, doesn’t listen when you ask a question, taps foot to get out. Especially worse if you are non-white, female, elderly or the doctor has limited education, experience and is poorly trained. It’s a crime against the field of medicine.

For anyone suspecting histamine tolerance for themselves, I highly suggest you get an allergy test because your body may not react to histamine released from certain items that may otherwise be high in histamine. For example, I do not react to citrus fruits and milk but respond to potatoes that are considerably lower in histamine. See what works for you so that you are not limiting your options!

I'm just thrilled to have found this video as I have been struggling for quite a while with hives and histamine issues without much help. Docs don't seem to want to investigate further and I'm developing more and more issues with my gut especially and even genitourinary area, much to my distress. Would be so great to talk to someone who actually is knowledgeable about these issues and cares to see patients get better. I'm stuck doing all this self-diagnosis and research and really just don't know where to turn. Am tired of being in pain after eating, though it seems to occur randomly and have not been able to isolate what hurts me. Was told I could have something called mastocytosis years ago but they have just had me on daily bilastine for this... if I miss even one day, I get the hives on my lips and hands - miserable life. I'll keep watching more of your videos and see if I can discern which of your products might be best for me but any help would be appreciated. Does anyone from this channel take any sort of consults via e-mail maybe? Just desperate for help, it has been an absolutely miserable time... I'm worried even to try the quercetin or things to help rebuild microbiome as I seem to react with pain in the kidneys to almost anything. Very strange and discouraging. Sorry for the long read; just glad to have found all of this information. God Bless.

Hi Tony, I am literally suffering with symptoms similar to yours. I'm pretty sure that I need to heal my gut microbiome to get better. The problem is that the food required to heal are high in histamine...can you please share with me what you ate, what supplements you took and how long did it take for your symptoms to go away? Anxiety is my worst symptom and it intensifies after I eat. I tried making an appointment with Dr. Nambudripad but she's not taking any more patients. I cried when I was told that. I recently went to see a functional doctor but I'm not sure if he's going about my treatment correctly...I would really appreciate your response. It will really help me. Thank you

I don't have a colon and only have a small intestine, so I believe that's why I suffer so much! I contracted c-diff in the hospital when I had a routine hysterectomy many years ago. It turned into toxic megacolon, and I had to have my whole large colon removed to save my life. That was in 2021 and my life had never been the same. I wish you were my physician. Zonulin is found in the tight junctions between the cells lining our intestines. When zonulin is elevated in the stool, it suggests disruption in the tight junctions between the cells (Leaky Gut). Thank you doc for sharing this video, it is indeed helpful, I have been suffering for acute hives since past 1month, but was clueless how it started, then tracked down what I ate, and found that peanut and hazel nut triggered it. I took fexofenadine and cetrizine but it helped vanish the old hives but recurrence of new hives were always there. Last Wednesday I ate beans which is my favorite so had good qty and next day my limbs specially legs were covered with red hives, burning and itchy allover, got myself admitted under casualty in hospital for observation, injected pheniramine maleate and hydrocortisone, and applied calamine lotion. Eventually the burning n itching stopped so I was sent home.
Later I took 4 more shots of each of the above injections.
My mistake I din check which food I should have stopped for some time to control the histamine
Bread, cow milk, beans, banana, whole wheat, eggs I was eating and hence the episodes of hives always.
It's been a scary month for me doc.
Being an Indian, going on low histamine or no histamine diet is difficult.
I was wondering if you can share some tips for Indian people like us, and also suggest some supplements.

Can you take probiotics at the same time, or should you do this after a phase of reducing bad bacteria? I think I may have MCAS after my COVID 19 infection, as my symptoms can also be set off by strong scents. Do you think the protocols for histamine intolerance will also work for MCAS? Thanks!

I’ve been histamine intolerant my whole life. People don’t realize how difficult to dangerous histamine intolerance is. Everything from having to go to ER from spider bites to breaking out in hives from gluten in food. People react differently that are allergic to gluten. My daughter gets severe migraines like she has to be taken to ER and I break out in severe hives like all over my entire body. We’ve been Gluten Free for 15 years. I think that grain has changed because I could eat wheat but insect bites were still a major issue even as a small child.

I just realized this today after fasting and being tired of taking Claritin everyday and getting a different diagnosis every few years for the different symptoms. This was a perfect fit after years of not drinking a glass of wine lead to this discovery after waking up with hives I had not had so bad in the same amount of years. Hives lessen when I stopped drinking and whenever I got pregnant. But I have always had hives and I eat so much different stuff i knew it could not just be one food group causing the hives. My mother had all the same symptoms. Fish is literally my favorite food uggh.

Thank you SO much for this video! I have been suffering with every symptom you named of HI for several years now. My symptoms correlate with having my gallbladder removed. Approximately a month later, I started reacting to so many foods, my skin broke out into itchy bumps on my arms and legs, I started to feel and look bloated, etc. I am now going to try the two week HI diet and will let you know what happens. Again, thank you.

38 years of suffering everyday because of histamine intolerance which started of age of 1 y/o. with abdominal pain every day, with terrible response to all medications. I had to do so much water fasting to be able to live. I'm so happy to finally find out this information

Thank you so much! I need to watch this again. Super helpful!! Do you have a link of foods to eat while on a low histamine diet? How long should one maintain a low histamine diet to diagnose that histamines are problematic?

    • @drrajsree
      @drrajsree  Рік тому +1

Typically 2 weeks to determine if it's a problem, then gradually add back foods to figure out which of the histamine foods are problematic.

This video is an ey opening for me. I always thought that I have allergy mostly environmental. After watching your your video makes me think I need a right doctor like that I can work with in proper diagnosis of my case. Most of symptoms are presented in the video. Food, gut just about every one of them. I am going to save this video to be my guide in how to manage this problem.
    Thank you very much

Thanks so much for watching! 😊 You could search for a functional medicine provider on IFM.org, but not all of the providers are knowledgable on this topic, so you may have to look around. Best wishes, RN

Will definitely be trying the suggestions in this excellent video as ANYthing I ingest sets off a miserable systemic reaction within minutes~I buy Claritin & Benadryl in bulk and also always have Hydroxine/Prednisone at the ready for more serious complications...Thank you for sharing with SO many of us struggling on the daily with a constantly overactive body:(

    Love it, Dr. Rajsree!
You are so highly educated and extremely attractive (complement only!)👍
I'm a 68 year old Male retired in Thailand from California. Feel young and no health issues. However do have excema and get the occasional rhinovirus which I experience the histamine release. Your UA-cam video is amazing and you serve as a great resource for everyone to learn and become educated. I am so inspired by your knowledge and professionalism!
