How could Adam Brundage's case go "cold" for so long? How could his murderer continue to use his belongings for so long? It makes me sick with the injustices of life.
Exactly what I was thinking. It's ridiculous
Totally agree. And wasn’t the quarry checked more thoroughly at the time?
The video said that he was the suspect, but there was no evidence to snare him with until the DNA hunt found him out. People used to react to the "obvious" and we had lynchings. Though it may be horribly frustrating to require evidence before conviction, that assumption of innocence without proof of guilt is one of the reasons our country's legal system, with all its flaws, is so much better than many other countries' systems.
It is a total injustice. My questions are, how does someone pay property taxes, if the person who owns the townhouse is dead, without that being noticed. How does someone drive another's vehicle without paying OR with paying for the car registration & car insurance, if there is no official document making them a co owner or owner upon death, which gives them the right to pay these bills. Also, it is probable that if the most likely suspect works at a rock quarry, that he got rid of the body there. The whole thing is ludicrous. I have to wonder, if whomever investigated this case, was told to not excavate the quarry because of the astronomical expense and time that would have been put into making that happen. I always feel so bad for the family of someone who is missing pretty much knowing who the responsible party is and the police refuse to delve deeper into the obvious suspect. I am glad the killer has been identified, however, anyone could have figured that out from the get go. There are circumstantial cases with way less information available!
With no body they didn’t even know “for sure” there was a murder to investigate.
How sad that jealousy can lead to someone killing another . He had no care about adams children who would grow without a father.
This is why you do not have roommates! But also this is a type of world that we live in where people are so jealous over a piece of junk that can dissolve within a matter of minutes. People hearts need to get right with the Lord Jesus Christ because he's coming back soon!
@@poshlady43 God bless sister! I believe you're right! 🙏
@@poshlady43 Jesus didn't come back early enough to save these people, did he?
Poshlady43 most people don’t have roommates for fun. Most people can’t afford an apartment or home plus all the other bills they have. Maybe we need to look into why the rich get richer and wages have dropped and benefits are non existent.
I am from the area and it’s not cheap, even “bad neighborhoods” are now $1000 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment and even that would be “cheap”.
But I have a problem with the 3rd degree murder. I used to work at a strip club and one of
The managers/bouncers was given 3rd degree murder after he punched a guy and he fell and a pebble he hit caused him to pass away. The man was the abusive ex of one of the dancers who was close with the owners gf . Even with a restraining order he wouldn’t leave and he was drunk. After he talked shit to the owners gf (who was a waitress and he was sitting exactly where she had to pick up her drinks from the bar) so he kept taunting and being belligerent so finally dude was kicked out and they called a cab.
He promised he wasn’t going to do anything and then promptly went back in. Then did it again. After this the dude is wasted and talking shit and Jack (manager and bouncer)told him to wait next door and off the property and he flipped at Jack and started punching him and finally Jack just clocked him and he fell on a pebble and died about 2 weeks later.
The MSM then painted the victim as perfect and Jack as a raging maniac. A good family man who sold drugs, multiple arrests and protection orders from women, ran through her money to buy/use drugs , wasn’t paying child support, and a long list of of other things? When Jack **really ** was a great family man. I don’t think he can have kids but he raised his wife’s daughter as his own and did anything and everything for her.
Jack pled to 3rd degree murder mainly to spare his family and he got 20 years. Yet we let pedophiles walk with “counseling “.
@@marquisdelafayette1929 sorry that happened.
There are people everywhere quaking in their boots due to GEDmatch and it's both upsetting yet also a joy to watch many families finally get answers and some closure.
Except now people can take themselves off
I love it!
Baby Yoda But they can’t take relatives off.
@Andrew Jackson upsetting for those whose perp has already passed away so they don't get that day in court to look them in the eye, ask why and then watch them rot. Probably should've explained that in the first comment.
rockstarofredondo true. My parents did one
Smoot took over poor Adam's property including a house, provided no evidence whatsoever that it was legally done and everyone just said, yeah OK???
Makes him stand out like a sore thumb as the perpetrator doesn't it?
How tf was he missing for 16 years while the roommate drove his car??? Do cops do anything?!?
sounds like they knew it was him, they were going to search land connected to him but had no evidence to link him to the murder.
Yeah how dare the police follow the law and not arrest people because they THINK they are "the bad guy". Who cares if there was no body and no DIRECT physical evidence tying him to the crime. Just put him in jail cuz you CAN.
@@the.meandering none of that explains why the cops weren't able to find the killer driving his car or living in his house. especially since hes the last person who would have had contact with him
Like the video states, they had suspected him from the beginning. No one would notice that and think nothing of it nor do nothing. He had an excuse for it, and without concrete evidence, there's nothing you can do. You HAVE to be proven guilty. Lucky he even confessed to it at all because there'd be no closure. The body was buried too deep and most likely would've never been found without his cooperation. It sucks and you may not like it, but without those protections in place, innocent people have been put to death. So they followed things exactly as they should have.
“No Body, No Crime” (sung like Bob Marley)
Glad to hear that these cases were solved. The first case made think of how scary it is that there are so many places like quarries and landfills and other similar places where bodies could be hidden without anyone knowing about or ever finding them. Terrifying
I think you'd have to know where to hide the body in these places.
Suspect works in a quarry. Cops: let's look in a pasture instead!
How do these people kill & just go on like its nothing?..
Good question. Look up the psychology sociopath and narcissism, they don’t feel guilt or any empathy. Only entitlement and they only value their own lives. they can also be charming and appear normal on the surface.
Rae Battle Rap's Mood I know it’s sad
No conscience. They don’t view other people as people. They don’t value human life. They are unable to make meaningful connections with others. It’s terrible.
@@tablescissors Bullshit. If you think only sociopaths and narcissists kill and live on, you're sourly mistaken. People kill when they feel too strongly, when they feel like they can't control themselves. Sometimes, even when you're perfectly normal, you feel nothing afterward.
But who says they went on like it was nothing? Maybe they cried themselves to sleep, maybe they were pledged by guilt, maybe drowned their sorrows in alcohol? Who knows? You're not in their brain, the fact that they *look* like they're not affected, doesn't mean they're not affected. You will never see the full picture, especially if the only picture you're seeing is told as generally as "and they had a life afterward".
Like Panonymous Bllom said, they most likely dont. You really want to confess to police that you murdered someone? If you did, your life will most likely be over so if anyone were to had just killed someone, they WILL hide it but internally, they will probably be fighting their demons and be very conflicted. The fact that you assume that they just stroll through normal life is a stupid notion to have. It's like people with mental illness. You most likely dont notice that they have it until they said they do. People hide their emotions in public to try and avoid looking like a weirdo. But internally, they are struggling.
It’s good to know that police still pursue these cases. Good on them.
Parabon Nanolabs is going to be responsible for a lot of cold cases being solved and a lot of people going to prison! Hooray!
@@janeE011 Isn't it? I hope that there are some very anxious scumbags out there, waiting and fearing that knock on the door so that all their family and friends know exactly what they are.
They dont! The people do the work and then the police look like the good guys.
They don't do it, someone forces them to keep looking.

Remembers getting into a fight with someone but didn’t know they died, stabbed him 29 times and caved his head in. Some nonchalant fight stabbing someone that amount of times is a frenzy. That’s why he chose suicide by cop.
I'm in southern NJ (a few minutes from the Philly area) & I recall Adam's story on the news. Glad his killer wad caught. Now his kids have a sense of closure knowing their dad didn't just walk away from them. May Adam rest easy knowing his killer is in jail.

We're all here because we love a good Heavy Casefiles episode, but how awesome when it is a compilation of rarely, if ever, heard of cases that were recently solved! 🖤💀
It's sad it has taken decades to solve these, but if you want your family history, it's a blessing to be able to give some form closure to the families. Thank you for solving them.
That smoot creature has empty eyes. Adam had life behind his.
I could only imagine what it was like growing up w/ that guy. Would make a good episode of Evil Lives Here.
20-40 years dont seem long enough! He took more then someone's life, he took from his family, friends and children.... So sad! 💔

Kiki's Korner SAME!!!!! I love this channel!!!
Kiki's Korner ikr? Me too, one of my favorite channels. Like a friend of mine reminded me, situational awareness is critical these days. Or, really, any day as we see in the older cases. Love seeing these solved cases 👍🏻
The biggest lesson from this channel is to never go out without letting someone know. Especially hiking! :)
Thank you for remembering these murdered individuals who deserved justice. All the best
Its so baffling when somebody thinks “Im gonna off my friend, take over his life and all his possessions and nobody will ever know - it will be great”! Like really? In what universe..

@@JosephKulik2016 Hey Joe, maybe give them a suggestion on how they could do better. That would be a lot less wasteful than your essay writing.
Yes I agree, some of these cases hit home with us for varying reasons. I’m loving seeing these bastards called out for what they’ve done, even those that have died. People see results are obtained. Criminals are no longer so assured of anonymity. It matters.
Joe Kulik I’m sure everyone knows there are still countless of unsolved cases out there. It’s also a huge percentage compared to the solved cases of course. But it does bring a little bit of comfort in all of us to know that some cold cases are finally solved, just like the OP said. We can do that without bringing up the fact that there are still a TON of unsolved cases. Doesn’t hurt to find a little relief in that, right?
@@JosephKulik2016 epic schizoposting
First case - how does the killer, Smoot, get bail when he was already in Prison serving 5-10 years for a separate crime? Maybe they have to do the paperwork anyway, as a separate case.
I'm amazed he confessed, I guess he prefered being locked up than (eventually) living free.
I assume he confessed rather than take the evidence to trial to receive a lighter sentence. I guess a plea deal with 20-40 years is better than almost certainly getting life or the death penalty (if it’s a possibility in his state, I’m not from the US so idk about that)
@@annie_xo yes, having re-watched it, I now realize they do actually say they had "new evidence that has not been specified"... so at that point I guess he knew he wouldn't get away with it. Good!
Ant B. This happens all the time. Give us the body in exchange for less time. They mentioned the family was in agreement. The family just wanted to KNOW. And they wanted to bury him. With any luck the perp will do the whole forty or maybe he’ll get shanked in a fight.

Can you do Keyla Weddel from Medora Indiana? She was a school teacher that was murdered in 1988 and there is hardly any publicity given to the case.
Very well done. I like looking at high-quality videos like this to help me enhance my own channel. This is one of the best true-crime channels I have come across recently.
Love hearing the ones where these skells finally get caught! That first one happened near me, never heard a thing about it until just now. That last one the wife needs to face reality, why do you think he pulled a gun on the police in the first place? He knew exactly what he did and what the result was!
I love when cases get solved!!!!
I find it very hard to believe that the third man, who said he had gotten into a fight a long time ago with someone but wasn't aware of killing him, would defy the police with a gun if he was innocent. If he didn't have a record, and had a wife who was a private detective, he had a good chance of clearing himself---unless he knew or strongly suspected he was the killer.

I find it regrettable that Adam's family had to agree to a plea deal for third degree murder. Adam's murder was a well planned, though pointless, monstrous crime.
I'm so glad that cold cases can be solved thru DNA I Wish they could find out who killed Jon Binet Ramsey

Why didn’t Adam’s family step in and take possession of his things and not allow Smoot to have anything and why didn’t that spark some kind of suspicion with Adams family?!
Cause they're the Adams Family. Da da da da , snap snap...
No one had legal standing to do so. His father was deceased, his children were minors, his ex-girlfriend had no standing; I don't remember if his mother was mentioned, but they couldn't prove Adam was even dead, how could they step in and act on his behalf?
The mental capacity and stability these ppl must posess to jump to such drastic measures strictly based off jealously must be pretty low

This was very interesting. I enjoyed watching and will wait patiently for another video to come from this channel. Keep up the great job!
Families often feel overwhelming injustice in a system that can't sentence their loved ones killers to the same terror they inflicted upon the victims. I'd say Parabon and others are getting closer to balancing the scales for Lady Justice. While some perpetrators may fear death and others life imprisonment, ask any stalking victim, that anticipation of a promised attack is terror all the same. Kind of makes you want to go around quietly humming "Bad boys, bad boys....." and see who gets squirmy.
I always like a little positivity in the True Crime world. If the only positivity in the genre is a victim and their families to be at peace, then I'm happy to watch. Well done.
