Mrs. Sanborn having the presence of mind in that moment NOT to turn off the faucet using the taps is honestly the biggest brain move I think I've heard in an unsolved case.

And they wonder why people take the law into their own hands. It would seem that killers who get away with the murder of an innocent person can only have justice meted out by a person or persons outside our justice system. This monster beat a young girl and ran her over with his truck. He then went on living his life for decades, spent a year in jail awaiting trial and got to go home a free man again, with ten years of probation. If he should violate his probation, what would be his punishment? Twelve years of more probation?

I agree! As someone who used to work in the Prosecutor's Office, I feel that most criminal defense lawyers should be disbarred. Self-representation is much significantly cheaper and it gets just as good a result.

Plea deals don't allow for justice to be served, that last one nearly made me blow a blood vessel. Carla's family please know that others feel rage at deals like this.

Right? That bastard got caught with bloody red hair in his place, made a confession in jail, and police went "(shrug) Not enough evidence!" He got to live for almost 40 years before that print was raised, but then the DA's office adds insult to injury with that plea deal... did they even consult the family?? 🤬

DNA is pretty new, so at one time all the cases were solved without it. Sometimes it takes a tipoff, like when David Kaczynski recognized a certain pattern in the Unabomber's writing.

Everett's family learned the who, but must be saddened to know his death was so unnecessary.
Kevin had the bad luck to resemble another man, who was being hunted by a bunch of numbskulls.
Carla's killer needs to remember our justice system is imperfect, but Karma doesn't mess around. Someday he will come face to face with this knowledge. Bet he won't be smirking smugly then.

That lady in Everetts case was damn smart! Thank God for her🙏🏼 That poor lady who was Kevins wife tho! All that time they were apart and God put them back together in such happiness. And to lose him to monsters who didn't even know who they were killing...jeez! 💔 Ok I'm totally gobsmacked about that last one. Carlas murder. WTF? HOW did they fix it so he got NO
TIME? A plea deal that says you're free if you come to court? That's about it. Manslaughter? How does even that filthy lie allow that monster to go free? WTF. WTF. WTF!!!!!!! It's no wonder everybody running around killing. People saying that murderers get life, real life here not like other countries need to pay attention. Obviously that ISN'T true here either. Shameful judge etc. He was going to buy his own lawyer but it sounds like he bought the judge instead, or the DA. My heart goes out to these people. RIP🕊️Thank you HC🙏🏼😓🤬

Suggestion to Heavy Casefiles... it would be useful to put chapter markers at rhe start of each new case. Thx.

Handing anyone a '1st degree murder' sentence in a homocide case of mistaken identity is gross injustice. Why even have degrees then? Why even have trials? Just do whatever you want.

20:25 you have you be flipping kidding me?! It’s bad enough that they even offered him a plea deal in the first place, but then they allow him another chance to take the same deal despite rejecting it…but then that’s the sentence he gets for beating someone to death?! That’s what they call ‘justice’ for this poor woman and her family?! It’s so wrong. It’s infuriating.
