rhonda smith was a born fighter, who survived early medical problems and fought for a successful life in spite of her mental illness. she did not know it, but in 2008, she ended up at the center of mary jane fonder's world of faith and fabrication. an imagined affair and a birthday party that never occurred lead to her senseless murder.

They finally pieced together that he shot himself but he didn't die and was still fairly lucid in spit of a bullet in his brain. After blood being spread everywhere in the motel room room where he was staying, he finally shot himself again.

This case has always fascinated me. Mary Jane’s kindly, devout old lady persona was an act. I saw another show about Mary Jane that included audio of the messages she left the pastor and audio of her talking to police. In the messages to the pastor, she spoke in a high pitched, girly voice and just rambled about nothing. It was so embarrassing. A cop later said that during questioning, Mary Jane began denigrating the victim and bitched about people in the church helping her and how she “stole” the pastor away from her. That poor woman didn’t do anything except work at the church.

  • @sarahcoleman3125
    @sarahcoleman3125 2 роки тому +23

This is particularly scary for me as I was a stalked by a guy with mental health issues while working as a secretary at a church. Listening to this makes me feel like I was lucky that the guy wasn't particularly aggressive.
But he did just kind of act like we -were- in a relationship and a majority of the church just kind of accepted that as fact despite the fact that vehemently denied it and asked the leadership to tell him to back off several times. It's really scary when your being harassed and your surrounded by people who either support it or don't care.
I can sympathize with that pastor.

Mary Jane not only killed Rhonda but her own father as well. Not to stop there she was probably a female serial killer. From the victim count area on her face it appears the tally to be at least 10.
Previously mentioned was my opinion that Rhonda was murdered by someone she didn't know. She really didn't know Mary Jane, even though they attended the same church.
Mary Jane is a paranoid schizophrenic. With homicidal tendencies. Her perception of reality was distorted, much like the system that accompanies schizophrenia.
So some with schizophrenia are indeed violent. Despite reported claims by experts that schizophrenia is not a violent disorder.

Can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers. I’ve followed you for a while and you are amazing. Thorough but also not talking forever about things that’s not important to the case, respectful, easy to follow, and again, don’t spend 10 minutes talking about the victim’s grandfather if it’s not pertinent to the case.
Also, you have a really great and soothing voice so I usually put on one of your videos I’ve already seen (obviously don’t want it to be a new one) to fall asleep to just because your voice is so good. You should have like a second channel doing sleep stories lol.

What is most ironic and tragic about this story is that a woman with a psychotic disorder was targeted and killed by another woman with a psychotic disorder. Both suffered great bouts of delusion, but only one was a murderer💔

Ms. Fonder may well have already been a serial ki11er by the time she was arrested. Her father blamed her for her mother's death, then he disappeared one morning when Mary Jane claimed to have been at home with him, even though he had serious mobility issues, and could not drive. After that, a dead dog which had been given a lethal dose of her father's medicine was found in her freezer, so it seems that she might have experimented with prescription drugs to learn how to fatally dose her parent(s). She had been fired from at least one job for threatening a coworker.

Crazy story with heavily added delusions and stalking!! Mary Jane was certainly a dangerous woman and I would not be surprised if she was behind his disappearance. I feel so bad for Brenda, her family and loved ones! She faced so many obstacles but she never gave up or lost hope. Living on her own and not wanting to be a burden on anyone. I am glad that Mary Jane was caught and served her time in prison.

So first, the cops immediately jumping to a conclusion of suicide solely because Rhonda had Bipolar disorders clearly shows that they have NO idea of what Bipolar actually is.
Bipolar is an emotional disorder that causes people to experience emotions at their most intense at all times. They don't have an emotional cooling off period.
Second normally I have no respect for Christianity, especially the larger congregations like Catholicism, Protestant, Evangelical, Mormon or LDS for quite a few reasons I'm going to go into.
I really like this pastor and how he runs his congregation. He and the vast majority of his members are down to earth good people.
You have to respect good people.

I honestly don’t know why they didn’t use her mental health at her hearing. I didn’t go to it, so not 100% sure if the defense utilized that angle. She had a long history of mental issues. My mom, who was her aunt and looked just like her) said she was hospitalized in mental hospitals a few times. The thing is she was smart and creative, she was an excellent fine artist, never went to school for it. I myself am also a college educated fine artist. She was also sneaky and calculating, so I think they believed she was in her right mind at the time of the killing. She was in her right mind when she planned that killing, I’m guessing. She was trying to eliminate her rival, in her head, Rhonda Smith. My mother also had some odd jealousy issues. Anyway, yes , we all believe she killed her father, Ed, who was my uncle. He was such a sweet man, who was very intelligent and kind. He used to come visit us once a week and give us kids a quarter😀I’d like to know what happened to his remains, though. They have never been found😥

Thanks for making this available. Being morbidly all too familiar with this case, I would point out only one factual error: It was ten days (on a Sunday), not three, before she was killed (on a Wednesday), when Rhonda publicly thanked her fellow worshipers for their generosity. Too bad that Mary Jane never learned to manage personal demons to the extent that her victim Rhonda had indeed learned. A wasted opportunity for a good friendship too.

Okay so please don't come for me, buuuuuuttt.....I feel so badly for *everyone* in this case - Mary Jane needed a level of help that she never received, and quite possibly was misdiagnosed and/or given the wrong type of treatment & meds for her condition, this allowing it to compile and morph into something much more dangerous to others around her. I am in no way making excuses for her murderous behavior, please understand that is not what i am impressing at all. She needed indefinite institutionalization in a medical/mental health facility - Her ability to thrive inside the confines of a highly structured compound such as prison, is certainly proof that her mind was not exactly a beneficially functioning organ.
I am so sad for her victims, this should never have been allowed to happen. None of it. 💔

One place besides ones home that should be sacred. Is a church, Temple, Synagogue. Etc.
Theft, assault and murder should be taboo. Mary Jane was clearly delusional and disturbed. While she thought of herself as important and should have been included in everything. She was just another member of her church. Her emotions and jealously about the pastor would have culminated in hate against any woman she thought a rival.
Sadly she was so bull headed she didn't realize this man did not want her. Rather its pure fantasy and she lived in an imaginary world. Unfortunately her fantasy crossed the line into reality. Amazing what love and pure obsession can do.
