    I ordered this in the small as an upgrade from my Wacom tablet that I've been using since 2004 (yes you read that correctly lol) I colourize B&W Victorian photos so I actually don't need the larger format - my old Wacom was always too big but back then I thought bigger meant better... Your video is great - I'm just waiting for it to ship because of covid delaying the mail. I'm sure the zoom option will be my favourite part of this device as that's what got me to order it. So excited!

    Been looking for a tablet editor for photo retouching. Very glad I found out about this unit. I don't even really need pressure sensitivity, just accuracy and a lot of shortcut keys. This thing is perfect.

    That wheel-like thing on the side is something I've always wanted as an external, relatively cheap, device... It sounds so convenient to switch brush size. My lefthand sometimes hurt from hitting the same key(s) too many times to use my keyboard shortcuts, so it'd always sounded like a great alternative. Unfortunately I already have a screen tablet so I don't really want to switch it for this one but if I didn't have one, this alone would totally have sold me on this model.

    You’re a better reviewer than you give yourself credit for. Thank you for the calm, informative walk-through on this. This is a question way out in left field but I got the idea that a tablet like this one would be really useful with Davinci Resolve NLE and color grading app. Any chance you would know if the wheel and buttons could be mapped to handle some shortcuts in that program?

    • @colorwithkurt
      @colorwithkurt  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I would think you'd be able to do shortcuts for anything with it but I can't confirm that.

    I really appreciate this sir, I'm new to working digital, my Clip Studio Paint EX is still in the wrapper since May of 2018. I've wasted a lot of valuable time while trying to decide on a drawing tablet but the higher end ones are cost prohibitive and I thought you had to have the screen versions. I'm willing to try this, do you have an associate link through Amazon so I can get it through you and kick some commission $$$ your way?

    Looks fantastic - but sharp edges make it very uncomfortable and unusable when tablet is 100% flat - hurts your palm when you rest your palm or draw. I wish they extended the very nice smooth bevels the have on the metal part of the tablet, where you have the buttons, so the rest of the tablet has the same nice smooth beveled edges so it's easier on the palm. slightly lifting a tablet on an angle (by placing a book) by 1 cm - makes it much more enjoyable

      considering that parts just plastic, i bet you could just add a bezel yourself, grab a file!
      note, dont actually do this. its probably a bad idea.

    Hi. I bought this tablet recently and decided to return it. When I started using it I found that sometimes it did not recognize clicks. The mere weight of the pen and the contact with the tablet were not enough to activate the stroke. I needed to apply minimal pressure even at maximum sensitivity, which didn't feel natural at all (unlike my basic little wacom intuos that recognize the slightest touch). From XP pen technical support they told me that it was probably due to a flaw in the construction of the pen, but I'm not sure about that. Do you think it may be a pencil failure or did you experience something similar with this tablet?

    On macos Mojave 10.14.6 the latest drivers just don't work..I tried on 3 different Macbooks for my testing. It works fine if the tablet area is selected as full wrt to the screen size..as soon as you change the tablet area...you will initially experience lag and if you keep the pen idle for few minutes and get back to drawing then the real problem starts...you will see the cursor will stop at certain coordinate of the screen and won't move at all!!.. I configured the trackpad to zoom in and zoom out and once the cursor was stuck i had to zoom in zoom out several times and then the cursor would move...its weird...even the tech support was unable to resolve the issue which simply means the testing of the latest driver for mac was not done properly. The application I tested it on is photoshop cc 2018 and even on plain screen I experienced similar issue . A great tablet ruined by poor drivers and poor support! Note- you would have to perform certain extra steps in accessibility in macos Mojave if you dare to purchase it.

    @Color with Kurt : Great review. Thank you. Other than the cheaper price for the small, what would be good about buying the small vs. medium? I am on a budget and haven't really used a tablet before but want to touch up photos and do some light drawing in Photoshop. Also, do you know if the dial could work in Premiere for scrubbing through video on a timeline?

    • @colorwithkurt
      @colorwithkurt  3 роки тому +2

      It might be able to be programmed for Premiere, but I'm not sure. Not a bad idea!
      The smaller the tablet is the bigger the difference in movement you'd see on a larger monitor. I worked on a 6x8" non-display tablet for the first 10-12 years of making digital art, so you can definitely do a lot at a small size, but if you are doing any detailed stuff, you might appreciate the larger size.

      @@colorwithkurt About the pen.... Would you be so kind to tell me if the silver part is some sort of aluminum made or other metal ? Or is it plastic colored in silver. Actually, I do prefer the pens being full plastic..... I know the one included in the great Deco 03 is plastic, but you kind of convinced me with your praise in this video about the Deco Pro (you and a bunch of other reviewers, written press included). I'm planning to get a Deco Pro *Medium* for my soon to have second computer, and also as a back up if the 12 yr old Intuos 4 XL finally breaks.

    How’s the surface texture on this device? Smooth, gritty, hard on nibs?
    I’m coming off a really old Intuos3. I was looking at the new Wacom line, but I’m super turned off by the surface texture complaints ... and the price. I’d go for one of the new fancy display models, but I’m an old dude. I cut my teeth on this style of tablet.

      @@mmc5261 : yes, you can do it just by clicking the programmed key on the pen. I've just checked it. But you have to program the key for that task as the left mouse key or if it is programmed as the right click you will open the menu and then you have to click again the option "open" which doesn't seem to be convenient. Actually it seems rather to be very inconvenient.

    I had seen Brad's, and your review adds quite a few points to his. Also, I like it, as you work in a style more similar to mine (or, your tend to color line-art which is more in my style, to be more precise)
    Deco 03 from the same company is a bit cheaper, and proven by many artists to be great. But... with your review I realize this one is 11x6 while the Deco 03 (both have a battery-free pen) is 10x6 or 10x5 (can't remember exactly) . Which is still way better than an 8x something like the Wacom Medium. And the tablet size does a lot for better line art. So, not only is important, for some of us is crucial. The double ring could be amazing to have both zoom and brush size change (or zoom + panning) in a single wheel. And you don't find this idea even in other quite premium models and brands.
