I bought the XP Artist 12 after watching many video reviews saying it was good, but specially yours. Not only because you are the most experienced professional doing tablet reviews I have seen in youtube, but because you were really impressed by it... and because it is the only pen display I can afford, lol.
It's been great so far. Well, it's my first pen display so I can't compare it with others, but transitioning from pen and paper has been only positive things.
About their costumer service. After a few weeks of using it, one day I started it and the colors were wrong, I think it lost the blue or something. I contacted them and sent them a photo of the problem asking them what I could do. They answered in hours telling me that they'll send me a new one (all in Spanish, so bonus points for that). A few days later the new one arrived, awesome! It's been working well so far, I just hope it wont fail like the first one and it was only an isolated problem.
Your videos are great, you are such an inspiration and part of the reason I decided to dedicate more to my drawing skills, thanks.

What he forgot to mention is that the spinny wheel is two wheels in one. One on the outside, the light grey ring. The black inside of the ring is touchpad you can use either as a laptop touchpad or a second wheel. So you can zoom and brush size with these two wheels

It's just 7€ diff between deco 03 and deco pro small, 37€ if you compare it with the deco pro medium. For me looks a better option deco pro because of that double wheel and price is quite similar. Doesn't matter to much to have wireless, I've never liked on my wacom... I work on a desk so it's not a prob. Thanks for your review!

Thanks for that review. I'm loving my Deco Pro. I got the small one. It's a huuuuuuuge step up from the Graphire3 i was using for all these years, with no pressure sensitivity and small drawing area, so no complaints from me about this tablet. I did also think it was strange to not have the wireless feature here, but I wasn't phased by that.

Thanks for the review, Trent. I just got an XP-Pen Deco Pro Medium at your recommendation as my first pen tablet. I'm one day in and loving it! The brushes have come to life!! I can see a ton of creative freedom and potential about to be unlocked with this. Up till now I've been drawing traditionally and colouring my line art digitally with a mouse or using pencil crayons. So far I prefer to use my keyboard shortcuts over the shortcut keys. I've been able to set up Krita to get everything I need via the keyboard and the two pen buttons -- right click, zoom, move, pan, rotate, lasso tool, resize brush, colour picker, and eraser. Tilt is pretty cool. My tablet is wireless, but I don't plan to use that feature. I feel this was a solid investment. Chao!

I switched from Wacom to Xp-pen almost 3 years ago, I had an Intuos Pro and now I have an Artist 15.5 and a Deco 03. Honestly, unless they screw up pretty bad, I'm not looking back. These products are great, awesome value for the price, nice costumer support, you can absolutely make professional stuff with them. When a friend ask I don't recommend Wacom anymore, unless it's the super expensive stuff like 1600$+ screen tablets

If I go for pro I'd get the medium since the size is bigger and the small is to small compared to the 01 v2. What do you think should I wait for cyber Monday for deals on 01 v2 or pro med or get the 03 that $70 right now on their website ( but that's not including taxes and shipping costs and if its shipped from china then then I'd have to pay a tariff tax which sucks).

To be honest, I don't use wireless on my tablets. I usually sit at a table and plug it in anyways. Less input lag as well. Id rather go with the pro that has tilt. But, it would be nice to have a wireless I guess in some situations. I don't think that would have an impact on my personal workflow though.

Thanks for the in depth review.......My Wacom Intuos 3 just stopped working.........I have just bought a new computer, running Win 10 Pro, and it doesn't support the Wacom tablet........ my previous computer went bad and it had Win 10 Home which was OK because the Wacom tablet has worked for years on it........worse news is that Wacom now have stopped supporting the driver for the Intuos 3 as they say it's too old.........WTF....... I paid A$500 for the Wacom back in about 2013.
So I went on Amazon and bought the Deco Pro 11X6 model....... coming this Sunday.
I only use the tablet for designing and sketching things I want to make using MS Paint and also Photoshop 7 for editing my photos.
The hand/eye co-ordination came naturally to me within the first few minutes and I don't have a problem using the table while watching the screen ......I have an Ipad Pro too and the direct on the screen sketching is good too.

Shame that you don't use the scroll- and track wheels terribly much; would've loved to hear some more opinions on that, especially because the actual turning scroll wheel on my Deco 02 absolutely changed my workflow for the better and I'm curious if the trackpad is similarly awesome.
On a different note, I love that they actually seem to be listening to their userbase - the most common complaints about the Deco 02 in particular were that *nobody* actually flips their pens to use the wacom-style erasers on the back, that the pen only has *one* relatively hard-to-find button, and that the hotkeys weren't marked. So guess what - two somewhat more prominent pen buttons, no eraser, and hotkeys with markings (and tilt support and TWICE the scroll wheels, those madlads) with the new pen and tablet models. So yeah, I personally won't be going back to wacom (especially with both their prices and their quality control issues seemingly multiplying over the last decade) unless XP-Pen REALLY messes up.

Excellent videos!!, I've watched a few today. I was looking for the deco 3 and found out your video, and then I've watched your deco pro review... and I don't know what to do now ahahahhaha. I like the wireless option, but I don't care much for it if the other one is really more "pro". Just a few minutes ago I saw both models at the same exact price so I wanted to ask you if the pen that comes with the pro is better enough to beat the one of the deco 3? the tilt feature makes much difference?
and if you think you will get the same final result using either one, or with the pro you can be more precise on the editing?
Some things that lean me to go for the pro is that I got the impression that the wheel on the deco 3 may be more delicate (less durable) than the pro model one, and the surface of the pro seems to me to be smoother. Putting aside the wireless feature... wich one you would buy considering the same price on both. This would be mi first tablet, so I really don't have any experience with this tools.Thank you so much!... you got a new subscriber here. Regards from Chile.

Drawing on a pad tablet instead of a display one is really different. The main issue is that you need to coordinate your hand movements with what happens on the computer screen, so it will take a while getting used to that. But if you manage to get past that stage, it will be an enjoyable experience. Also, when using a pad tablet it's easier to maintain a good posture because you're not putting so much pressure on your back and neck anymore.

Windows Ink.

Thank you for a thorough review on both on this and Deco 03! I am a noob regarding tablets and would primarily get either one (i.e. Pro SMALL or Deco 03) for photo retouching and for my daughter to draw.
I'm slightly torn between both devices; Pro seems better build, has tilt (maybe daughter will appreciate that once her drawing improves) and wheel seems to benefit workflow + I am a leftie. On the other hand Deco 03 has wireless, bigger work area (SMALL vs. Deco 03) and higher RPS.
However, for RPS did you notice any noticable difference between these two devices in lag/responsiviness (Pro is strangely only 200 in RPS, while Deco 03 is 266)?
Final question: do you consider Pro SMALL's drawing area (9 x 5 inches) adequete on a 27" monitor? That is still basically the same as Wacom's Medium sized tablets have... and I want to safe ~30 bucks and some estate on the desk..

@@Sora_Nai I got myself the Deco Pro and have been very satisfied with the purchase.
      Reasons:
      1) Nice looking + durably made, e.g. no scratches on surface although daughter accidently used wrong end of pen on the surface
      2) the double scroll wheel and 8 buttons provide plenty of options to create shortcuts for drawing programs
      3) for my needs there's plenty of surface to draw with detail (although Deco 3 is 0,5-1 inch bigger) and bigger surface might be more difficult to draw strokes smoothly
      4) pen has a good feel to it (I have no experiences, but some reviews stated that Deco 03 pen is not that good)
      5) finally about the drawing experience: my previous experiences were on a small Wacom around 15 years ago and I sold it quite quickly. Drawing surface was too small and I remember it really hard to draw smoothly.
Although the Deco hasn't made me better at sketching, I have a lot fun with it. Looking at instructive youtube videos in my spare time and trying to draw feels very natural with this device and above all is really fun. Of course freely available great drawing apps, e.g. Krita, enhance this experience also compared to 15 years ago.
Wired is the only neglect, but also regarding that some reviews have stated that Deco 03's wireless is not that good (I don't own a Deco 03 so can't confirm that).

@@kohkombero yeah appreciate the thorough explanation yeah I think ima go with the deco pro or 01 v2 since their both newer models and seam to be the best of.the bunch. Pro with features and 01 v2 for being a scaled.down version of the pro with no nob at half the price.
I didnt even know about the 03 wireless that's then whole point I even considered it.
What do you think between the
The deco 01 v2 vs the pro.

    • @kohkombero
      @kohkombero 4 роки тому +1

@@Sora_Nai I really like the scroll wheel on the Deco Pro, but that comes down to personal preference. Regarding price, both are affordable and at least based on a quick look at Amazon, there's only a 20 euro differene between those two (i.e. Deco Pro SMALL and 01 v2). However I don't' have any experience with Deco 01, so my best advice is to check reviews here or elsewhere.
This review for Deco Pro SMALL convinced me: digitalarttabletguides.wordpress.com/2019/07/08/xp-pen-deco-pro-small-review/. She reviews also the Deco 01 (although version 1): biggest complain is the pen, but that has been enhanced for v2 -> I recommend to read her reviews.

what would you say from an artist's stand point, between intuos pro small and XP-Pen Deco Pro small which one should i go for? my main requirements are performance, feature and a pen which will work with me, not against me(talking about the pen pressure working well and having no jitter issue with slower strokes). is the small 6 by 4 inch active area on intuos proa problem for making artworks? i have 19 inch monitor

I need help. My XP-Pen Pro came in...and the whole the pen is whack. The issue I think i'm having is that the nib doesn't de-activate when I lift the pen. As in, the nib isn't touching the tablet, but photoshop is is drawing on the canvas because it thinks the pen is still pressed down.
Should I try adding some oil around the shaft of the nib to try and loosen it up and make it deactivate more reliably when I lift the pen up? or should I return it back to amazon?

Hey Trent can help me? Pretty soon I’m going to be making a small gaming Studio, small as in 7 people and sooner as in October. I’m going to be the main concept artist, art Director, Graphic design, and head of coding for some games. I’m not an established artist with a fan base but, the people I’m working with are, can u give me some tips on how I should go about this? The studio is part time and over cloud servers, our goal is to make a CCG that will come out in early to mind 2020 and an rpg game for steam to come out in 2021. With your work on hearthstone a what where your likes and dislikes of your job, and it’s management? Sam question goes for your work on Diablo. Also some info on how long most people take drawing a card. Thank you.

Couple things. You didn't notice the wheel is 2 wheels. one touch one physical. Also when drawing why were you using your laptop for shortcuts vs the tablet it self? defeats the purpose. If you're not use to the device then get use to it before doing a review. You won't be taken serious otherwise. Not trying to be rude. You seem like a cool guy but if you want to succeed in reviews or such need to make sure you know what you're talking about first.
