Modern Pergola - Super Easy Build!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 сер 2019
- Here is the modern Pergola I built for my backyard! I used the Toja Grid system and it worked great! Simple to put to gather and very customizable. Note: the Pergola is not finished yet. I’ll be adding some curtains to add even more shade, added some lights, and two privacy walls around the hammock. Stay tuned for all that.
The Toja Grid system is not cheap by any means but it is super simple. We love it and when everything is done it will be great.

Hola amigo, para España 🇪🇸 saludos sabrías decirme si para España estaría disponible
Can u plz tell me what material did u use.thanks
Can it be used to build a deck?
Cool
What connector did you use for the rafters? (Not in the video) I’m planning to buy toja connectors next month but I’m looking for an alternate for the rafters since toja rafter conn are so expensive. Apparently you didn’t used toja for those.
I just screwed them into the back side. A lot cheaper lol
Looks like you used 4x4 -- what was the longest span (distance between columns)
Mark Voboril in this pergola it is 12’.
Can you install corrugated Perspex roofing to weatherproof and cafe blinds on the side? Is it suitable for all weather conditions Melbourne Australia?
louise papadopoulos you can install a blind. I will be putting in a pull down screen on this one this summer. Here is a link for 30% off. toja-grid.myshopify.com?aff=11
Hi Louise also I'm from Melbourne Australia. Did you end up doing this build? Was it easy enough I've never built anything before but concidering this. 😬😰
How do you like Toja Grid products?
Reliable?
What kind of wood and stain did you use? I'm putting one of these up in my back yard and was wondering.
Jason Day I used a Behr chocolate deck stain
what if it rains ?
It does not need to be inserted in the soil??? Wouldn't bad winds tip it over? Just curious... I would love to make one of those but they are soo expensive...
They are not that expensive if you see these are DIY compared to paying someone to build you one. This has been up for over a year and hasn’t moved. It’s staked into the ground
In the thumbnail you have a fire pit under the pergola. What brand is it? And how to you prevent the top from getting burned?
Looks like a solo stove to me
Great job , where I find metal parts
odiberzbn here is the link! They are currently 20% off through my link.

Can I use this to build an attached pergola? and over an existing deck?
Yes they have the brackets for it! Here is the link to their website. toja-grid.myshopify.com/?aff=11
What's the name of the hammock?
Metin Caylar check the description for the link to the Toja Grid.
Súper como lo con sigo esto para Puerto Rico ? $. ..?

More questions: What length/height the 4x4 posts are here? and , how did you anchor the 4x4 posts to the bare ground here. Thanks!

I think a category 1 hurricane would pick it up and shred it into pieces... sorry but it doesn’t look strong enough where I live...
I’m wondering if I could put this on an upper deck
Dena yes you can. Check out my link and promo code in the description
One gust of wind and that's now neighbours property :-)
It’s been up for 1.5 years and hasn’t budged.
@@Mullenthemaker honestly, i was wondering why everyone digs underground and and pours concrete when you could just follow this approach. I'm sure its heavy enough to not budge
If that happens the pergola is the least of your problem, you just had a tornado at that point :D your neighbors house is probably on top of your roof :D
AM it’s definitely heavy plus the L shape of it will make it extremely hard to budge
😆
@solo stove
Construction ASMR...mmmmm
Budget €€??
3.000 +
Do you have a promo code for this? Tried to order from the link you posted but no discounts were taken.
Currently working on it. Hoping I have the code soon.
“JesseMullenSpring2020” for 10% off!
Jesse Mullen hmmm it’s not working for me
Those metal at joint area what they called?
Izzul Islam Shabdin those are Toja Grid pergola system.
How many dollars did you spend ?
you don't want to know
2:10 wasnt the goal supposed to be shade?
Like Jason Day ask, what wood and stain did you used. Was it cedar wood?
79bnice this is Doug fir with a outdoor sealant and stain.
@@Mullenthemaker great work! Just for information purpose I am asking this: you mentioned FIR, does not it rot over the year inspite the sealant and stain? why are the pergolas made with Cedar if this is good enough.
Venu Allipuram cedar naturally repels bugs and better in sun
@@Ghoppa32 Thanks! FIR works too i guess.
Hi. Where did you get the wood, and what kind did you use? I've looked at Home Depot and Lowes, and all of their 4x4 cedar and pressure treated are 3-5/8 x 3-5/8 to 3-3/4 x 3-3/4, which won't fit into the brackets, which are only 3.61 x 3.61. I don't know what to buy.
Kevin O'Neill 4x4 from Home Depot will work just fine. That’s what I used. 👍
@@MullenthemakerWhat kind? Zero of my local big box stores have non treated 4x and all of the treated 4x they have measures more than 3.61" (the inside dimensions of the toja grid brackets. :(
Kevin O'Neill That seems very unlikely that those stores don’t have cedar or Doug fir untreated 4x4. These brackets fit 3.5”x3.5” wood.
This the benny hill version should last a couple of weeks or till a good storm takes it away call the inspector
We have had many storms and has been up for over 1.5 years. Hasn’t budged.
Где можно купить такие углы под брус??
Пока у нас они появятся планета умрёт 😂
WHY ON EARTH DID YOU MAKE THIS SO HIGH ?
I added some pull downs. This video doens't show the finished product. Check out my Instagram to see the finished pergola.
instagram.com/mullenwoodworks
WTf paying $500-$1200 for some brackets cause the kit doesn’t come with the wood. But your project looks great but I wouldn’t pay for that.
Logic Bluesheild complete kit is 7,500 usd plus tax😐🤣
$500 for brackets and a shade + $100 for wood isn’t bad. Like the other comment said, paying someone to build a pergola will cost thousands.
Jesse Mullen can I use bigger size wood if I want
Kevin Perry they have a 6x6 option as well. 👍
These brackets are to pricey for this.
Its a Toja grid kit. Lol
