Great instructional video, and I'm buying my materials tomorrow. My pergola is boiling hot on the south side of the house. Thank you kindly you produced a great tutorial.
Llevo meses buscando algún tutorial justo así. Así mismo. Y nada. Hasta hoy que justo ya había ideado otra manera de hacerlo. Pero x supuesto su manera es la q me encanta!! Que fácil, de verdad
I copied this on the cheap. Used thrift shop sheets and they’ll need replacing each year, so don’t know about that. I’m going to redo and put the tightener thingy in the middle of the lines like you did......much better than mine (at the end of the line) as that prevents the shades going right to the end. I also used a clothesline to pull the shades back n forth as my granddaughter loves pulling the shades, but think I’ll switch to your plan to not have to deal w the lines. Got all my inspiration from your video, thank you!
This looks easy enough to try, and I like that you even included how to make a simple "hook on pole" with which to pull and retract the shades. I'm going to check if I can buy Sunbrella or Shade Sail fabric at a good price and tackle this project for the summer. Thank you!
THANK YOU YURA YOUR VIDEO IS VERY INSPIRING FOR TO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAS SUNNY AREAS AND NEED A PROJECT HERE IN TEXAS THE PROBLEM WITH THE HEAT IN SUMMER IS TERRIBLE AND WE NEED SOMETHING FOR MY PATIO, WE HAVE A RETRACTABLE AWNING BUT IT JUST PROTECT THE AREA CLOSE TO DOOR AND THE REST IS BURNING. WE ARE TAKING YOUR IDEA TO DO OURS, THANK YOU. AH WE ARE FEBRUARY 2020
Love your comment, Carmen. Thank you so much. Suggestion - You may want to turn off your all capital letters lock. When words are typed in all caps, it is suppose to be read like the person is heavily accenting their speech or rather screaming. I don't think you meant us to believe you were screaming. It's all fine to type with the normal type instead. Again though, thank you for sharing. What you said is so darn true for us here in the Central Valley of California as well. Summers are scorching here and I have a pergola that needs some attention.
this is by far the best and most simple and nice looking DIY pergola i have found! i liked a lot the fabric you used. I will be follwing your project for sure
Such a wonderful and easy idea! We have been looking for something that looks like this, but all of the ideas were very complicated. Thank you! We will be doing this!
A great Video and great idea. 1) You can quickly remove cloth and wash. It will get moldy from rain. 2) Bad on the fold up portion as it will catch rain water. But as noted, this Pergola has a clear panel roof to protect that. Very Great Video !
This is great, thank you. I will be making something similar for my greenhouse roof, athough everything will be undercover IN the greenhouse, so I will simplify the materials.
Most important part left out. Sewing the seams. Finding a seamstress or having the proper equipment and know how will make or break this project. No one will do anything today without over charging and to find someone that will get off the couch is near impossible. Nice job, thanks…
Superbly crafted! The only suggestion I would have is to finish the top of the side curtains. Maybe rolling some webbing into a top hem would reinforce it and improve longevity. ⚘ Great job!
This is a nice & budget friendly Idea for a Pergola probably less than $ 300 very nice …I wished you would have added the individual cost for the Items & how much of it you needed to build it …it’s always a plus & you forgot to show a whole Picture of the finished Project! Anyways I thank you for sharing your Project & I think it’s Perfect !👍🏻
I recommend setting up a wire robe on every side separately with a turn buckle, so every single robe is under tension. That makes it easier to pull the curtain, because the robe won’t sag.
Need shade for some farm animals so I used this ideal with a old canopy metal frame ( top was gone , winter winds now it's summer. I had bought wool suit material 48 by yard continues roll for less than 3 dollars a yard. Looks good and provides shade. Thin enough to dry fast, wool is fire retardant. Thanks for the ideal.
Mesmerizing … I love the details.. closely showing the hardware and how to attach may seem obvious to most but it’s those specifics that make a project so much easier. Also the choice of music was also relaxing . Informative and chill - and no specific language spoken- I could go on and on. And I can go do this project confidential now too!
Looks great. Did you make folds in the cloth and then sew those folds to have a pocket for the wood slats? Or did you sew another cloth into the shades to make the pockets for the wooden slats?
This one seems much more do-it-yourself-able than another one I was just viewing. This "technology" seems much more appropriate than that guy's over-engineered one.
JUST STARTED TO WATCH , THE ONE I THINK YOUR TALKING ABOUT IT'S OVER AN HOUR LONG !! WTF IS THAT ABOUT WAS THINKING I NEEDED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL TO GET A PHD TO MAKE IT ! LOL..........
Please let me know what you think about it in the comments below

Юра, спасибо большое за МК.
Это самое понятное объяснение.
Даже мне, в 68мь, все ясно.
Осталось обсчитать метраж, кол-во, купить, и сделать.
This is exactly the design and canopy I have been trying to describe to my husband. This video is perfect! Thank you!

Needed at least one good shot of the whole pergola.
Yep. I was thinking that too. Difficult to get an idea on how it looks with all close ups.
Probably doesn't look the best tbh
It’s on a separate video he posted

Simple is always the best.
Was trying to figure this out and literally find exactly what I envisioned. Well done
Customer is going to love it.
did you get a sewing machine to create the pockets where the sticks go in or is there an easier way to do that?
This gives me an idea, that maybe I could do the same thing for my small covered patio!
Even the non meme stuff is useful 😁😂
I like your idea the best..I’ll try to install it on my patio ..thank you for your help
That’s a very nice pergola, I like the wood you used.
This is amazing! I'll use the concept for sunshade cloth for my vegetable garden 🧡 Thank you!
Thank you for this idea! I am going to fashion something like this for my pool lanai with curtains. Awesomeness!
Thank you...appreciate your skill..
Was looking for economic ideas for covering my open terrace

Same here.
