What a fantastic set of videos good sir, every single one objectively played the same game but the variations in strategy and storytelling edits made each one felt unique. Excited to see what you decide to do from here
Okay now that I've actually seen the video I have to say I'm stoked that Blue Mage was chosen. The mysterious man in the mask with its bff Beastmaster crushed it. BLU being undoubtedly being my favorite FF job and it was great to see a FF5 run with BLU at its full potential. Though of course Chemist and Time Mage were no slouch either. You could also say that Black Mage and Summoner had their hand in the run too with the Magic Lamp and rod smashing.
This has been an amazing series. I stumbled on it when the berserker vid came out. I eagerly awaited for each subsequent video and was not disappointed. This gave me a new found appreciation for FF5. Thanks again my dude!
If you're still looking for suggestions/ideas etc. how about crystal only party. As in each party member has the job you choose, but the jobs available to choose are only from the fire crystal (or the other 3 crystals separately). And each party member has to have a different job of that crystal at all times. Added challenge? No rod smashing, but you're the boss. Love the vids btw.
Nice synergy picking Beastmaster, not the best job from the fire crystal but it works really well with Blue and Chemist. -A fun trick to try next time you have Blue + Chemist: Wendigo is level 7, don't attack it at all. Hit one of your choice with 2 dark sparks and it will be level 1. Give it a samson power mix to make it level 11, and then one more dark spark to make it level 5. L5 Death kills it, in older versions you need to tap one of the other forms for it to realize it's dead. I haven't tested this on PR yet, but it should just kill the boss without doing any actual damage at all. -Sad what a pain it is to get the dragon whip, I think stealing it from Shinryu is the fastest method but then the game is almost completely over at that point so you barely even get to use it. Killing Shinryu with its own whisker though, is a power move. -Beating Omega with a solo Chemist gets you a PhD in Chemistry, lots of fun mixing involved that is basically beyond anything else you need to do in the game but fun to learn.
Really enjoyed this series, thank you for making it. Also, my name is Carlos, do hearing "Karlabos" every video never stopped making my ears perk up like a cat hearing the can opener
this sort of "dragon thats not a dragon" annoyed the hell out of me in Fire Emblem Engage, where you fight a lot of Dragons that are not "Dragons" but "Fell Dragons" therefore, not affected by the dozens of Dragon slaying weapons you get in that game, you know, the weapons designed specifically to kill evil dragons that don't work against these evil dragons.
13:40 - I started a new run of this game on the defunct iOS version because your content has been making me want to play it again. I got to Iron Claw, had my Blue Mages all ready… and then Faris Berserker hit with her axe for a high roll of over 800 damage. Poor Iron Claw didn’t even get a hit in, let alone Death Claw.
@ I know that now, but no way was I going to watch Tsuze die again and redo the entire Escape sequence just so I could get Death Claw a little early lol. Anyway, I’ve been having a blast but my grinding tendencies have me in the Nut Eater / Skull Eater cave grinding JP now. I’ll probably leave when somebody learns Rapid Fire from Ranger
@@Hadaron Just a reminder that grinding JP from the statues in Galuf's castle basement with L5 Death should be a lot faster than jacole cave. The exp given is very small, and the gold reward is good too
Strange to think that the worst jobs video eliminated the "weeb jobs" almost immediately for being too good, but somehow neither made the cut for the best jobs party. Also strange that Beastmaster made the cut, but given that you took blue mage, it makes sense. Love the content as always, can't wait to see what you do next
they get a ton of passives and commands to learn and are definitely strong picks but I feel like the only thing that goes into truly busted territory is giltoss, which just requires gil farming (which is kind of boring to watch honestly, no synergy either).
Honestly, it kinda shows the difference between being independently good and being synergistically good. Ninja and samurai are powerful on their own, as is ranger. but when it comes to making a strong team, in this context a beastmaster is the better pick. The toolsets of both Ninja and Samurai don't mix well with a lot of classes or make them that much stronger, whereas beastmaster both unlocks the full potential of blue mage and brings some tactical utility of his own in the process. Quite often, having a good force multiplier and team player is better than having a squad of largely independently strong characters. you see this all the time in team based games. the whole "you don't need tactics when the enemy is dead" is more of a nice idea than an actual truism, like yea, that'd be great. but all out offense isn't gonna work in every situation, and once you blow your load you're gonna wish you had all that support and utility you passed up for more numbers.
That's an extremely good summary, because the synergy aspect is massively important. Beastmaster does more with Blue Mage than even Ninja ever could. I would add that as absurdly powerful as Samurai is, Chemist is the one job that can actually solo both secret bosses as far as I'm aware. Mix is just that redonkulous if you have the ingredients.
@@davidmahoney9877Look at his "worst jobs" video. Even the "worst" jobs actually managed to function because they had a decent synergy. Except Dragoon, fuck Dragoon lol
Summoner vs Time Mage is difficult, but Time Mage can equip staffs which Summoner and Blue Mage can'ts, so they can use the healing staff for free cura or undead damage while having time magic and another skill to use. Also gives you the choice of using the flail and morning star.
The algorithm brought me in early, one minute in and I was hooked! Thank you for completing this series and inspiring so many of us to do our own zany ffv runs!
A fantastic series coming to an end. I really look forward to seeing what you do next, I found your channel about 7 jobs in and have watched the entire series. Whatever you do, I hope you take a well earned break.
Throwing my hat into the ring for Final Fantasy Tactics job challenges. I completely get being toasted on FF5. This was a fascinating series to watch, and I'm really glad you did it. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. :3
I hate seeing this series end, but it’s brought back so many memories from the old snes system and when they ported it to the PS1. I know you’re done with FF5 runs for a while, but the next time you decide to do one, you should do the 4 best “physically” oriented jobs since you went with mages this run aka true grug incarnate! Keep up the awesome content! 😁
I've enjoyed this series. If you do return to Final Fantasy V, an idea for a run is to randomly select one class from each crystal (maybe excluding Freelancer and Mime). The decision has to be made when the crystal has been acquired. To keep the run interesting.
Thank you so much for the series, you don't know how much they meant to me it was something that'd cheer me up often as I had an overall really rough year but your series made it so much better and helped me a lot, so thank you for that
I had thoughts that maybe Summoner would be a good pick to add that extra couple stat points to a Beastmaster packing the Flame Lash. But Time Mage was just so useful! Delicious rod-boosted emission/flamethrower efficiency. XD I'm glad you finally got your hands on a Dragon's Beard, after all that grinding. Seeing the bosses get dragoned up for the bonus damage made it even better. :D _Technically_ you can get fire absorbtion from !Mix. If you can find 4 turns to spare, and don't mind it wearing off over time or disappearing upon death. D: It felt good watching a Beastmaster be the damage dealer against Omega. That was cool! Treeform ExDeath died as he lived, meteor spam. Congratulations on making an entire series! Years from now I'm going to get one of these in-jokes stuck in my head and no one is going to get it XD
BeastMaster as one of the best job? that was unexpected! I understand it synergises perfectly with blue mage, but ranger and ninja are so good that it shocks me!

Awesome series from start to finish; despite finishing the game multiple times I learned a lot from your vids. Definitely have earned a break from it, but have considered a charity Four Job Fiesta run next year? Could be a fun live stream. Unless you draw thief...
Now that Exdeath has finally been vanquished and the world(s) saved, It's time for around of applause for the true hero... the inanimate Magic Rod! In Rod We Trust.
never knew about the w1 scene with Boko? Aww, yeah ff5 has a ton of story behind it just hidden away. My favorite one is with Bartz and Galuf sharing a drink after joining up in w2
Ninja has a few synergies with Blue in non-PR versions. Scrolls scale with Magic Power, and Dual Wield Rune Blade does funny damage on Blue Mage. Bard lets you get almost every Blue Magic as early as Beastmaster. The only notable missing ones are 1000 needles (wait for early merged world) and lv3 Flare (Island Shrine) (and you used those a lot when they are optimal). Boost Songs and Apollo Harp are even better than Dragon's Whisker for Dragon kiss damage dealing. What you could have used Beastmaster for is Slow on Catch/Release. With that and Drink/Mix/Hermes Shoes for haste, you could have freed the Water Crystal Job for Summoner or Mystic Knight. I don't know if Quickslip works in PR. Also, whith Blue, don't forget to kill Jackanapes with lv20 Goblin Punch or 1000 needles. No reason but F**k them.
Confuse lets you get blue magic as well, but it is far more tedious. Chemist, white mage, and dancer can all do this too. Early 1K needles is super good, but also not needed to cheese gilgamesh or archeoavis. Masamune can cast partywide haste, but you get that around the same time with time mage, as well as being able to slow all but 2 bosses. Finally, while summoner is fantastic, it takes a while to get going. Until you grab shiva, your only method of dealing with enemies or even shiva herself is the 3 early summons or rod breaking. Another thing is summons can't do single target damage, so that niche is out. Time mage at least has utility to help all other jobs deal damage faster and take damage slower.
As crazy as it sounds for a same job challenge thief sucks but they are really useful on a balanced team. Dash, Hidden Passage, and Caution end up being fairly useful, plus there is always stuff to steal.
Thief is at its best on a first playthrough when you don't know everything. It's a great utility job with some nice features and good agility for the chicken knife and ATB fills. Once you know how to cheese bosses and manage random battles, it becomes a chore to use outside of mug chicken knife
Glad you picked beastmaster instead of Ninja. With beastmaster, time mage, and chemist, it's all about making the best job in the game (Blue Mage) better, more efficient, and lacking in weakness. Chemist buffs and helps killing things that blue mage cannot (which is like 2 bosses total). Beastmaster helps fill up the spell list of blue mage, and while you could do it with confuse status, it's easier to use control, and also onlylevel 33 flare is missed without otherjobs beyond beast. Great synergies also with capture and release. Time mage buffs every job and can make blue mage deal damage or exploit weaknesses faster. For a 4 job team, this is the best and most efficient loadout you can have. Excellently done wes.
Well, the first fight against ExDeath (in Castle Ex-Death), he can use Level 3 Flare if has more than 16000hp. It's not something common, but he can use it sometimes . So, it's not really missed.
Level 3 flare can be put to good use, but it only has a few uses outside the first phase of exdeath (and the top part in NED) The gargoyles can be easily killed without it, and exdeath in his castle is susceptible to level 2 old. Almost every boss in the game can be killed with level 5 death if you use level 2 old and count the in game ATB tics to the proper level. For exdeath this is 1, so just level 2 old him and spam level 5 death. He can die in 2 actions. Dark spark can half the opponent's level and if it is an odd number, it can then become an even number which is then susceptible to level 2 old. Blue mage is beyond busted even without control.
It’s funny because Bard could very much be on the best team if used well. I like Beastmaster from this crystal due to the Blue Mage though. It’d be interesting picking a more physical slant to this one. White Mage\Mystic Knight\Ranger\Chemist could be interesting.
Now, here's something I'm curious about. Which jobs have the greatest gulf between how they did as solo jobs, and how they work on a team? I'm thinking like White Mage, which did terribly on its own, but which the game is balanced around you having.
Out of all the unique gear that gets pulled up in these, it's kind of odd that the Mirage Vest never came up. Yet... I still can't see a place where it would've been any significant help, either!
Surprised you never mentioned the synergy of Beastmaster with Chemist -- being able to grind for Dark Matters in world 1 very very easily among a couple other things. Haven't watched the rest of the video so I imagine you DO that but....I'll see I guess.

Earth: Dancer. The reason he won't do it lol. Chemist and Samurai are S tier and Dragoon is bottom tier, so Dancer is the only option.
Encore!
Or only two characters at a time!
What an amazing ride. This content brought me here and made me a supporter. Hopefully we get more rpg challanges.
Its been a hell of a ride, and this last one is a great unexpected Christmas gift.
Here's to you, you glorious, masochist, absolute Chad.
FFV has always been my favorite FF game and seeing this suite of vids focusing on them in a fun way has been a treat. Thanks for the fun content!
Loved all the FF5 content dude - lots of funny lines and moments, and just overall memorable. Thanks for the fun!
Really enjoyed this series, thank you for making it. Also, my name is Carlos, do hearing "Karlabos" every video never stopped making my ears perk up like a cat hearing the can opener
41:00 thank you everyone around me has always kept insisting that bird king Bahamut is a dragon.
this sort of "dragon thats not a dragon" annoyed the hell out of me in Fire Emblem Engage, where you fight a lot of Dragons that are not "Dragons" but "Fell Dragons" therefore, not affected by the dozens of Dragon slaying weapons you get in that game, you know, the weapons designed specifically to kill evil dragons that don't work against these evil dragons.
@@mauricesteel4995 That can only be the work of miserable people.
Loved this series so much. FF5 is my favorite game ever and seeing all the love people gave it here made me so happy seeing how loved this game is
Like last video, may the content never die
This series has truly been my comfort series since the first. Thanks for the great content Wes, excited to see what you do regardless of what it is.
Sometimes you gotta floorzerker, it's a legit strat with blue mage or the angry character will ruin your spell learning efforts lol
@
I know that now, but no way was I going to watch Tsuze die again and redo the entire Escape sequence just so I could get Death Claw a little early lol.
The exp given is very small, and the gold reward is good too
@@dryzalizer
Yeah, I know, I just don’t want to leave World 1 quite yet. I don’t want to miss anything before I go.
I can't believe Backlog Buster was the Bay Area Blue Mage
I'm going to miss this series so much, thanks for the videos.
@@Ehibikawell said
That's an extremely good summary, because the synergy aspect is massively important.
On the first day of Christmas the Backlog gave to me
ZOK!
42:43 You can teach him blue spells! Whoa!
He has special script changes as reactions to 7 different blue spells, this is just by far the funniest one lol
I was not expecting a new one, these are my favorite videos of the year! Thanks for all of them! 😁
35:08 WHERE IS MY WHIP SOUND??!! I NEED IT 😢😢😢
I hate seeing this series end, but it’s brought back so many memories from the old snes system and when they ported it to the PS1. I know you’re done with FF5 runs for a while, but the next time you decide to do one, you should do the 4 best “physically” oriented jobs since you went with mages this run aka true grug incarnate! Keep up the awesome content! 😁
Great way to cap off an awesome series. Well done!
Thanks for all the FF5 content
Awesome series i watched all episode!
XD
I'm glad you finally got your hands on a Dragon's Beard, after all that grinding. Seeing the bosses get dragoned up for the bonus damage made it even better. :D
_Technically_ you can get fire absorbtion from !Mix. If you can find 4 turns to spare, and don't mind it wearing off over time or disappearing upon death. D:
It felt good watching a Beastmaster be the damage dealer against Omega. That was cool!
Treeform ExDeath died as he lived, meteor spam.
Congratulations on making an entire series! Years from now I'm going to get one of these in-jokes stuck in my head and no one is going to get it XD
Once again you've spoiled us with another victory lap. ❤
Your content is amazing and so much fun to watch. Thank you so much for it
BeastMaster as one of the best job? that was unexpected! I understand it synergises perfectly with blue mage, but ranger and ninja are so good that it shocks me!
Control in a normal party is ultimate cheese in every FF it shows up in
So overall... FF5 is a very great game. :D
yes gaem gud
So cool to see this wrapped up, but i can't help but feel a little lost, what am i going to do without visiting Zok and the Wonky Ronky Ruins... Maybe I'll see if Leanna has developed an immunity to iocaine powder...
It is odorless, tasteless, and dissolves instantly in liquid. Lenna's favorite
Awesome series from start to finish; despite finishing the game multiple times I learned a lot from your vids. Definitely have earned a break from it, but have considered a charity Four Job Fiesta run next year? Could be a fun live stream. Unless you draw thief...
Amazing video. Maybe FFT or FF9 next?
I really enjoyed this series and look forward to whatever is next!
Congratulations on finally finishing off ff5. Im curious to see what you have in store for next year.
The fantastic 4...4 jobs that compliment and strengthen each other.
Thanks for the run buddy. So what's next on your list?
I'm always in the corner, watching him bust
Now that Exdeath has finally been vanquished and the world(s) saved, It's time for around of applause for the true hero... the inanimate Magic Rod!
In Rod We Trust.
In Rods We Bust
10:58 John Locke moment 😂 I love Lost
*Sees blue mage in the thumbnail
Hoo boy, here we go again
I wasn't sold on this team until the red dragon. Nice
Edit: another fun Exdeath nuke is L2 Old and then just spam L5 Death until you get lucky
1 atb tic, baby!
Oh ,death by math strats.
Merry Christmas everyone. and thank you backlog for another amazing video!
Blue mage is best mage confirmed.
Its got everything you could possibly want, and a bunch of stuff you dont!
The first time I did a four job fiesta the team I rolled was Blue Mage, Time Mage, Ranger, and Chemist. It's like being handed a win.
never knew about the w1 scene with Boko? Aww, yeah ff5 has a ton of story behind it just hidden away. My favorite one is with Bartz and Galuf sharing a drink after joining up in w2
Chemist deserves a spot just based on the fact that it let you use the word "chicanery" in a sentence.
Honestly it's just cool that you made me appreciate whips and beastmaster a lot more from these vids. I just never bothered with them.
Level 3 flare can be put to good use, but it only has a few uses outside the first phase of exdeath (and the top part in NED)
The gargoyles can be easily killed without it, and exdeath in his castle is susceptible to level 2 old.
Yes was hoping for this
Victory lap time!
Nice on getting a dragon beard within 5 minutes of leaving the shrine!! I thought you weren't gonna get it lol
So after 23 runs 1 battle against shinryu noice loved the series
i was really hoping you'd do this
Wow i really enjoyed this one
It’s funny because Bard could very much be on the best team if used well. I like Beastmaster from this crystal due to the Blue Mage though.
It’d be interesting picking a more physical slant to this one. White Mage\Mystic Knight\Ranger\Chemist could be interesting.
Are you sure you don’t want to take a crack at Byblos again with all white mages?
Now, here's something I'm curious about. Which jobs have the greatest gulf between how they did as solo jobs, and how they work on a team? I'm thinking like White Mage, which did terribly on its own, but which the game is balanced around you having.
Will A. Zeppil stops mad elephant by turning it into a frog and punching it!
Maybe the title should have been "how fast can you," as opposed to "can you?"
I find it funny that just a team of full Summoners finished the game over 2 hours faster than the "best" team 😂
since he was just going straight to the boss there it makes sense, while here he farmed an hour for dragon beard alone to prepare for the superbosses
Last time we'll here "back row ok,baby!"
Beast Master over Ninja means this isn't the best jobs, but the best *party.* Ninja, on it's own, is a superior job to Beast Master.
also Ranger with Rapid fire. That skill alone is broken....
I would have picked the summoner over Time wizard. But it is because I am a sucker for summons :)
Out of all the unique gear that gets pulled up in these, it's kind of odd that the Mirage Vest never came up. Yet... I still can't see a place where it would've been any significant help, either!
The vest is better in old versions like SNES and GBA because you can utilize a glitch to refresh the Image on it as often as you want in battle.
Surprised you never mentioned the synergy of Beastmaster with Chemist -- being able to grind for Dark Matters in world 1 very very easily among a couple other things. Haven't watched the rest of the video so I imagine you DO that but....I'll see I guess.
Worst jobs, check
Best jobs, check
Now, can you beat final fantasy 5 using the most mid jobs?
Yeah gotta love just berserking Shinryu.
Hey, maybe you could this challenge for FFX-2? That would make for a fun series as well.
Have you thought about doing the single job (class) challenge in something like FF1?
Would you ever consider a Can You Beat series for FFX-2 all jobs?
38:44 Woo!
